Some other cool tips from video
1) Send claps/drum into vocoder (8:23)
2) Don't be afraid to compress the heck out vocals (3:52)
3) Use pitch envelopes on your kick for the perfect punch (11:27)
4) Try using Soothe on master to fix annoying resonances (28:17)
LMK if any questions
I thought that funky wurly part was a baseline all along. Howard absolutely killed those chords and I'm fucking obsessed with Disclosure goddamnit. Thanks for the summary!!
Awesome video, thanks for summarizing! All of your tips have been super helpful
Excellent. I've watched his first and third stream (the one with Howard and the Mali Mali breakdown). Absolute gold information in there.
I wonder what algorithm he's using for the vocal samples here in Ableton. Complex Pro I assume?
I heard this song in a DJ set at a quarry and tried to figure out what it was for like 6 months. I heard it in a bar in Revelstoke, BC and ID'd it with my phone. I was so happy. I love it
I'm excited to watch this, thanks for posting

still waiting for the where the angels fear to tread :D
For people interested in trying this, what heβs using is called a compander. The signal is compressed, EQβd, and then expanded. For those of you that own it, U-he Satin has a built in compander with the Dolby and thx algorithms in it. I havenβt tried it on vocals, but Iβd be curious. I believe in satin, youβd have to either have the compander on just the input or just the output. Iβll probably fiddle around with it and see what gives good results.
