In The Light Of Shadows - Bishop T.D. Jakes

[Music] we're going to talk about we're going to go into the scriptures in a little bit but we're going to talk about in the light of shadows in the light of shadows god teaches us in the light of shadows and when we study the word of god we are studying the word of god tonight this is not so much about a sermon this is about bible study and i'm going to end up in the book of genesis i'm going to go to genesis uh three and four in a few minutes i'm gonna go uh some other places before i go there but we we're looking at the word of god to understand that god does not do things in happenstance in chaos in accident he doesn't react he acts god has it settled before it ever gets started so it's not like god is making up the plan as he goes god has already fixed the plan from the beginning and as we go into the word of god we begin to see traces and fragments and hints and clues almost as if we were detectives we study the word of god looking for clues that have been left behind if you go on a crime scene and you see a crime scene they will rope off the crime scene because they don't want anybody to contaminate the site so that as they begin to excavate from that crime scene various tools and tips that were left behind when you read the old testament it is filled with tools and tips that help us to have a deeper understanding of what god has sovereignly done and he does that he does it a lot of different ways he does it in shadows and types for instance for example when you start talking about the holy spirit there are five different categories that are types of the holy spirit okay so whenever whenever you see there are times that god will refer to the holy spirit as as uh the holy spirit itself there are other times that god will refer to the holy spirit through types and shadows both in the old testament and in the new testament it does not diminish the power of the holy spirit it just causes you to have to understand that he is referring to the holy spirit and he does it when he talks about a dove that the holy spirit descended on jesus like a dove he does it when he talks about fire that the cloven tongues like as a fire set upon each of them and they were all filled with the holy ghost does that really mean that somebody took a match and touched somebody no it means that god is comparing the touch and the flow of the holy spirit to fire and so he does it when he talks about oil and that's why we anoint people with always any sick among you let them call for the elders of the church anointing them with oil it is not the oil itself that has power it is that the oil is symbolic of the holy spirit who is the master healer are you with me and he came like a mighty rushing wind we know not from whence it came it bloweth where it listed the wind is the type of the holy spirit okay and water woman if you believe on me as the scriptures have said out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water the the holy spirit is compared to water and i love that comparison because when you understand the holy spirit as water then you have to ask yourself am i in the flow because there is a flow of the holy spirit there is a flow of the holy spirit and and the holy spirit flows in such a way that even when jesus for example met the woman at the well he asked her for water woman give me the drink and she she begins to question him and to ask him and no he stopped wait wait if you knew who i was you would be asking me for water and suddenly as the conversation continues we begin to gradually come into the awareness that they're really not talking about natural water at all he said if i give you the water that i have you will never thirst again neither come here to drink he says my water is a thirst quencher but he's not talking about h2o he's talking this he spake of the holy spirit he goes on to talk from water to worship he says for the father god is a spirit and they that worship him i'm in john 4 must worship him in spirit and in truth for the father seeketh such to worship him how did we get from worship from from from water to worship because the water is symbolic of the holy spirit and god is a yeah that's right i want you to talk back to me you gotta wake up stay with me god is a and they that worship him must worship him in and in all right so so when we begin to understand that we begin to recognize that he's speaking about the holy spirit even from the very beginning when he's talking about water and the woman ends up dropping her water pots wait a minute i thought you came down here to get water no when she got what jesus had she broke what she had there is something that you leave behind when you get what jesus has you don't need what you used to have before the interesting thing is she she brought water pots and she ended up becoming a water pot are you following what i'm saying she she brought water pots which are indicative of her own emptiness the cavern that exists inside of her life she had filled with five men and now she was on the sixth man and then she meets the seventh man and she comes down with empty water pots and she's an empty woman with empty pots and she met jesus when she met jesus he filled her up and she didn't need the water pots anymore this is the power of the holy spirit and god conveys he teaches through metaphors and similes and parables and comparisons and you have to in shadows and types so that we might have a real understanding of that which cannot be seen everything almost everything that you want to talk about whether you want to talk about the tabernacle in the wilderness is just a shadow of the redemptive power of jesus christ so when you don't study the shadow and the type you lose some of the clues that the detective has left in the old testament that helps you to have a deeper understanding about who jesus is you can see the power of the holy spirit descending on jesus in the jordan river like a dove in matthew 3 16 in mark 1 10 in luke 3 22 you'll see it again in john 1 30-34 you he's graceful like a dog he's he's graced like a dove a dove symbolizes peace so write this scripture down psalm 55 and 6 and song of solomon 2 and 12. as the dove is symbolic of peace the dove is symbolic of purity in the song of solomon 5 and 20 5 and 2 and 6 and 9 is a symbolic of purity it is also symbolic of innocence be wise as servants and harmless as doves that's that's what god is teaching us about the personality and power of the holy spirit and when we begin to understand these shadows and these types and these metaphors and these similes we begin to understand because god is so much more than what language can afford god is so much more than what language can afford that we do not have a word or a language that embodies all that god is a few weeks ago my daughter was teaching on the names of god the names of god and all the manifested names of gods you remember that and it takes all of that for us to begin to just catch clues that that that the deity and the divine is so much more than that can be extrapolated from any one name if you say he's bread i'll say he's water if you say he's mercy i'll say he's justice if you say he's a healer i'll say he's a deliverer if you say he's a redeemer i'll say he's a lamb if you say he's a lamb i'll say he's a scapegoat if you say he's a scapegoat i'll say he's a trumpet if you say he's a trumpet i'll say he's a bulwark if you say he's a door i'll tell you he's a way if you say he's the truth i'll tell you he's the life y'all don't hear what i'm saying to you god is so much that when moses gets ready to embody and say who shall i say sent me god said you can't even handle it you don't even have a word you don't have a word to describe what i am i am so much all i want you to do is go down and tell pharaoh i am that i am because your language is limited your land your language is crippled you have to understand that language is crippled when i was teaching wednesday night last wednesday night i was telling you how the king james version came into being and how all the subsequent versions came in to be and understanding that language is limited and the more we understand about the original language the closer we get to deeper understandings of what god is saying and then language changes meanings with time and so you have all of these revisions not because god is revised but language is limited if i took you to israel today the hebrew that they're speaking over there now it's not the hebrew that they were speaking years ago because language evolves and it changes and it flows and it means different things at different times so i could say there a t-h-e-r-e or i could say their t-h-e-i-r or i could say their t-h-e-y apostrophe re and it all sounded the same but it all meant something different or if i say i love you and you say i love you it doesn't mean that what i meant by love is what you meant by love because language is limited so language cannot afford god [Music] do you understand what i'm saying language goes bankrupt trying to describe god because god is infinite he is everlasting he is immutable he is eternal he is sovereign he is the mighty god he is the everlasting father he is the prince of peace and so language goes bankrupt trying to define god because god is beyond any word that you will ever come up with in order to explain his majesty oh if i had the tongues of men and of angels i still would be at a deficit to describe the magnitude of who god is so when god begins to start to talk to us through the written word of god now i want to go back and underscore underscore when we start talking about the bible and we start talking about the word of god we're talking about two different things okay because we know that the bible is not all of the word of god because before there was pen and paper there was a word because john said in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god that means before we had hieroglyphics before we had language before we had a pen before we had paper there was word when god said let there be light there was nobody there to write it but god was sovereign and he spoke it there was no secretary there to type it but his word still went out man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of god so when you start talking about the bible it is a collection a canonical collection of memoirs that reveals god's word but it does not reveal all of god's word because god yet speaketh are you hearing what i'm saying so so what what we have is a collection of clues that point us into a deeper revelation of who god is and so we we have no more of him than we have of his word we study his word that we might learn him okay because all you know about me is all i say about me so i'm not studying the word so that i can just so that i can impress people with how many scriptures i can quote i am studying the word of god that i might discern god through the written word of god and perceive a god that is beyond what we can write i don't care you know you go on these uh annual readings of the word of god going through the bible in the year and all of that if you could quote the entire bible you could not summarize god god cannot be locked up between genesis and revelations he transcends the limitations of all of the bible written down god is god he always will be god he moves however he wants to move he heals whoever he wants to heal you can't get a recipe on him he's sovereign he could do whatever he wants to do one blind man he speaks to it another blind man he touches him another blind man he spits in his eye he said i can do it however i want to do i bring one up i take one down i'm god do you hear what i'm saying because if you get down to a recipe if you could understand him you would be god he said my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways as high as the heavens are above the earth so are my thoughts above your thoughts and my ways above your ways i am god and beside me there is no other he said i look for god i look for someone to swear by that was greater than myself and finding nothing greater than myself i swear by myself are you following what i said i swear by myself this surely blessings i will bless thee and multiplying i will multiply thee so what we do when we start studying and delving into the word of god we're looking for clues like detectives that will reveal our god and i want to direct your attention i want to i will first of all let me show you the value of shadows and types you you you have to begin by realizing that the old testament is the new testament concealed okay because there is but one god the old testament is the new testament concealed the new testament is the old testament revealed now now what you see right now is a shadow okay you you can't box a shadow you can't fight a shadow you can't cut a shadow you see a shadow but anytime you see a shadow there is an object somewhere in light the shadow is evidence that an object exists the shadow is not the object but it is evidence of the object and it is a sign that the object exists and the reason you see my shadow wave in his hand is because i am waving my hand so the shadows in the old testament are giving you a picture show of the sovereign mighty invincible power of god his purpose his plan his providence his ways his methods i'm talking about shadows tonight and we study the shadows like detectives because if the shadow moves god has moved if the shadow is still god is still if the sh if he's walking in the shadow then he's walking in reality because the shadow cannot move of itself are you hearing what i'm saying let me see so so joseph is the beloved son of god the son of the son of his father he is a beloved son of his father even as christ is leave it down even as christ is the beloved son of his father he has a coat of many colors that was made and placed on him and christ comes and wraps himself up in human flesh he is hated by his brethren and christ comes and he's rejected by his brother christ is sold for 30 pieces of silver joseph was sold to the midianites for 20 pieces of silver are you following what i'm saying they ended up with joseph in prison okay and because of joseph being in prison both the butler and the baker were able to escape christ goes into the lower parts of the earth and looses those that were in prison so much so that when he dies the bible says when christ died graves opened up all over the jerusalem and dead men were seen walking the streets so joseph going in causes the butler and the baker to get out are you following what i'm saying and then he rises up out of prison he goes in as an inmate he goes in as a prisoner he comes out as a prophet he is raised to a prince oh i got my spy glass out i'm looking for clues about jesus now joseph whole life is a portrayal of what god is going to do in jesus christ let me go to genesis 22 for a minute take now thy son thine only son listen at that language take now thy son that only son god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so what what abraham is doing with isaac is is a shadow it's a shadow of what god is going to do with jesus so when abraham looks up and he sees a place afar off he says to the servants stay here with the asses me and the lad are going yonder to worship and they both went up together because this is a covenant with god with the father and the son the crucifixion was a covenant between the father and the son didn't he not say father if it be thy will pass this bitter cup from me and then he says not my will but thine be done and here the grown son submits and becomes obedient unto death and in the shadow isaac lays down on the altar and becomes obedient unto death knowing that he is providing himself a sacrifice wait a minute himself there i go back to i swear by my okay that my word so i'm looking for clues we're looking for clues tonight type on the line i'm looking for clues i'm looking for clues because i don't want to bring my lights up i don't want to be an ignorant worshiper have you ever seen these people worship but they didn't have a clue see you can wash up how you want to but if you don't have a clue who you're worshiping you're just making noise bring my lights back up if you don't have a clue and so when we start investigating the shadows we are looking for clues and tonight we're looking for clues but we are looking for clues on this side of the shadow in the light see we we are in the light of shadows okay in the old testament they were living in the shadows now that we are in the new testament and we it has been the new testament revealed we are in the light of shadows so the more we we are looking back through the old testament because we are starting to see glimpses of jesus when jacob wrestles with the angel which was a theophonic manifestation of christ in the old testament or daniel in the uh right meshach and abednego in the fiery furnace we threw in three and we saw the fourth one and the fourth one looks like the son of god that we're seeing clues glimpses of jesus in the old testament so we know jesus birthday didn't really start with mary [Applause] because before mary was ever born jesus was already dropping clues through shadows in the let us make man in our likeness and in our image look at your neighbor and say get a clue get a clue and tonight the reason we come to bible class is that we we're on a scavenger hunt in the old testament studying the shadows that we might get a clue okay now we're going to go to genesis chapter 3 verse 15 and 16. and this is the first messianic clue that we see in scriptures i would stop short of saying uh that it is the only clue but it is the first clue and he says i will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers he will crush your head and you will strike his heel are you listening to the woman he said i will make your pains in childbearing very severe with painful labor you will give birth to your children your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you that's what he said to the woman then the lord said to cain why are you angry i don't want to go there yet i don't want to go there i'm getting ahead of myself i want to stop there with genesis three for a minute and i want you to begin to think about this the woman i want you to imagine that you are eve and you're you're you're getting kicked out of the garden and you have made a decision that led to the fall of man now it wasn't her partaking of the fruit that brought about the fall of man because she the bible says in the new testament was deceived but adam was not deceived okay so when adam bit the fruit all of humanity collapsed yet eve knows that she is the one who made the offer first thing is she broke the order it's not god's order for the woman to give to the man [Applause] it was god's order for the man to give to the woman so at the at the point that the woman becomes a provider she she has broken the order and there's always going to be a deficit when a man is eating out of a woman's hand [Applause] are you are you hearing what i'm saying i know i stepped on some toes but we got band-aids in the back see it was divine order that god has had adam in a position to be able to take care of his family so when we when we start looking at it but look at this for a moment eve has an opportunity god says it's going to be painful it's going to be much travail but the seed of the woman will rise up and bruise the head of the serpent and the serpent shall bruise his heel the seed of the woman now let's talk about seed for a minute okay because we're going to talk about seed okay we're going to talk about soil and we're going to talk about suns well you said when you read the text i didn't see the word seed it's because when i read it in the niv it said offspring but if i read it in the kjv king james version it would say seed okay because all a seed is is an offspring the seed you sow tonight in your finances is an offspring it sprung off of you so that's what qualifies it to be a seed that's what nobody can give for you because your seed is your offspring are you here god is serious about seed the whole messianic prophecy is hidden in the seed of the woman and he says the seed of the woman is going to break the curse can you imagine how anxious eve must have been to have a baby that rectified the problem oh wait a minute in essence the prophecy suggests that you're going to birth your deliverer [Applause] eve doesn't realize when he says the seed of the woman that he that she is not the woman she doesn't realize that the woman is married but she starts the structure and she leaves us a clue when she begins to birth children and so the i almost call this the adam's family okay because this is at this is about family notice that god does not start the book of genesis talking about church he starts the book of genesis talking about family because all god really is interested in is family and what the church does should help you to better regulate the family the family existed before the church so stop sacrificing the family [Applause] for the church see family matters to god if you just happen to be one of noah's sons you didn't drown if you married one of noah's sons you didn't drown you did not not drown when the flood came because you were good you didn't drown because you were related [Applause] and all of noah's family was saved through the water and every other family drowned in the water and the only reason they were saved is because they were in the family so when you get when we we start reading god is introducing to us the family and it is a fallen family from the beginning eve didn't get to have a baby before the curse so every child she had was born in sin had she got to have a baby before the forbidden fruit the child would have been eternal because the wages of sin are oh you know your bible and the gift of god is okay so if if there were no sin there would be no death so had she had a baby before she partook of the forbidden fruit the child would have been born everlasting doctors teach us that the human body they really don't know why we die because the body is designed to replenish itself the moment you cut the skin white blood cells come and push infection out the body starts knitting back together what was what was cut what was god because we were not supposed to die we were created in the likeness and the image of god and god doesn't die and we weren't supposed to die either that's why he says i come that you might have and have it okay so god is in he did not design us to die death was the consequence of sin so the first family now is experiencing the development of family in a state of being fallen and all they have is a promise that the seed of the woman okay that something that comes off of you something that springs off [Music] is going to get you out of this so there's a difference in the attitude in the old testament when we read about women having babies they didn't feel like the women today because every woman wanted to be that woman so rachel says give me a child lest i die every woman wanted to be that woman that produced that seed that had that redemptive power to it all the way up to mary and mary says oh i i'll do it but how can i how can these things be seen as i know not a man because god is into seed so when when god says to to man in the book of genesis be fruitful he could only say that because he was seedful you can't be fruitful if you're not seed full because all fruit is is seed in metamorphosis okay and the purpose of fruit is that you might have more seed so you take one watermelon cedar i'm gonna keep on till you get it you take one watermelon seed and you plant it and you get a whole watermelon that might have a hundred seeds in it press down shaking together and running over god is a god of seed well i wanted watermelon but they gave me seed what you don't realize is that the watermelon is in the seed all the soil does is bring out of the seed what is hidden in the seed you need to understand this that god's whole plan exists around seed [Applause] and the bible says through the book of genesis that god created everything with its seed inside of itself so god wouldn't have to every time you bought property god would have to get up and create grass because the system is designed to recycle based on seed and harvest so when he finished the creation he could enter into rest because the system was built on seed and all you had to do was offspring the seed and the seed would recycle itself over and over again oh come on let's go deeper you prayed for oak trees but god answers with acorns so suppose you didn't understand that the the the oak tree is in the acorn you prayed for a tree god answered with an acorn you said oh what is this this is not what i prayed for and threw it away you didn't watch the clue [Applause] greatness comes in seed form that's why you can be great in seed form and ignored by people because they're looking for trees and you're still an acorn doesn't mean that you're not gonna be a tree [Applause] come on come on come on come on come on come on come on come on come on somebody right now i got the seed i i may not have the job but i got the seed i may not have the house but i got the seed i may not have the money but i got the seed i may not have the ministry but i got the seed i may not have the knowledge but i got the seed i may not have the wisdom but i got the seed i prayed for it and god gave me the seed despise not the day of small beginnings because your god is a god who prophesies over seed y'all don't hear what i'm saying when we were sowing god was blessing seed the seed of the woman will rise up and bruise the head of the serpent and the serpent will bruise his heel look at your neighbor and say you're looking at a seed that means god is not finished with me yet if you impress now just wait a minute because i haven't come to my fruition yet after i've suffered a while after i've soaked up the water of the word for a while you're gonna see what i'm really meant to be i'm in seed time and harvest are y'all with me right now i say are you with me right now glory to god if you saw me before you wouldn't believe me now because i didn't look like where i came from because a seed never looks like it's fruit but everything i am i was when i was in the storefront trying to keep the church open by frying chicken i was just as anointed then as i am now is just that i was in seed form and this is in full blossom [Applause] i don't know who this is for but the holy ghost said somebody's about to blossom in this place [Applause] you you haven't even come into your season yet you haven't even come into your time yet you're still walking around with seed but don't worry about it that going forth a weeping bearing precious shall doubtless come again with rejoicing bringing his sheaves or his harvest with him so i was so in tears i will reap with joy some of you have been crying but you didn't know that when you were crying you were watering your [Applause] oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god god is protecting you because you are bearing precious seed he there's something he has planted down in you that must be protected and that's why you survived you survived life you survived tragedies you survived abuse you survive trauma because it does not yet appear what we shall be but when we see him we shall see him as he is and we shall be like him so the woman the woman is interested in having a baby not for the experiment of having a baby she is trying to birth her promise just like you and i she is supposed to birth her promise you cannot birth what's not in you whether it's a business a book a company a ministry a calling a job a message there's nothing worse than watching a preacher slaughter another preacher's sermon have you ever heard it and you you heard them and they're running around they got all the points but they don't have the power because that sermon wasn't in them you can only birth what's in you now you can get pregnant from hearing somebody preach and come out with your version of that impregnation but you cannot copy somebody and be successful because god doesn't clone he only makes originals that's why i'm valuable i'm one of a kind there has never been another me there will never be another me i am a designer's original my fingerprint is different my voice pattern is different the way my brain works is different because i'm one of a kind and so are you i'm in a class all by myself saying i'm in a class all by myself if you love me i can feel anchored in that because there'll never be another me i can't have a competitor cause i don't have a copy [Music] you don't hear what i'm saying i'm trying to help you with your attitude how can you be a competitor when you can't be a copy i don't have a clone if you love me there will never be another me let me stop fooling around let me get down to work so all of this just appetizers and hors d'oeuvres and stuff like that let's go over to genesis 4. and and and now we're in a situation isn't this good anybody having a good time tonight now we're in a situation where the first family is fallen so we know every family thereafter is going to be fallen because we're adam's family so stop telling me how perfect your family is because i don't believe you the very fact you're saying that proves you a liar i don't know what the rest of them are but at least we got one liar in the family you can't have a perfect family because you have a fallen seed so we were born dying because the first child was born after the curse so when we read the fourth chapter of the book of genesis we read it understanding that the very first family ends up in a mess with a murderer that's how the book starts never mind lots daughters getting a lot drunk and all the things that happen in the cave and all the things that happen as we get on over into the novel this this this cliffhanger story starts out with a murder and the murderer is his brother and this is important because this story gives us clues we have two brothers we do not know for sure whether we have two births we just know we have two brothers because the bible says that adam knew his wife and she bore cain and then it said and again she bore abel it doesn't say adam knew his wife again until he had seth so there is some uncertainty whether these are twins which would have been a shadow of jacob and esau favor as azera or a certain man had two sons this is a principle that we see all through the scriptures or god who had two sons first man adam last man adam we we can't be sure about that but i just i just thought i would throw that in what what we do know is that one of them is jealous of the other they have inherited their father and mother's sin nature so cain acting like his daddy starts tilling the ground to raise what god took off his father you remember when adam sinned he covered himself with leaves and the bible said he hid amongst the trees and here comes kane working in the same ground producing the same stuff trying to offer to god what god has just pulled off his daddy and now he's got an attitude because abel is offering to god what god went out and got to redeem his father which is a blood sacrifice abel offers up a blood sacrifice to god and cain offers up a cursed sacrifice to god and cain is jealous because abel is blessed sets the tone for the rest of humanity if you want to be hated be blessed [Applause] if you are blessed in any way i guarantee you that the announcement will be your haters as long as nobody's hating on you it's only because you're not blessed yet the moment you get the blessing or walk into some sort of favor with god it will create the tension of being having favor with god and resentment by men now abel is favored by god and he is hated by cain why does cain hate it because he is favored by god and because the favor of god rests upon abel oh wait a minute luke 2 52 and jesus increased in wisdom and stature and favor with god and man and because jesus was favored they sought to kill him it occurs to me that this story sets the tone for the rest of the book the rejected brothers now kills now throws joseph in the pit the rejected brother now takes abel out in the field to kill him to destroy him wait a minute why is abel in the field when abel is a shepherd and cain is working in the field but abel has come into the place where cain operates i'm getting ahead of myself let's back up a minute so the lord is trying to talk to kane he's working with his fallen family this dysfunctional family he said what you mad about why are you angry why is your face down cass if you this scripture has always got me if you do what is right will you not be accepted i can't go past that i never can go past that because it is here that i learn for the first time that god is not a respecter of persons but god is a respecter of principles you are not this favorite because you're john wilson you're disfavored because you break principles if if thou do what is right if you do what is right it's hard for me to read it in niv because i learned it in kjv if you do what is right will you not be accepted god is first of all look at how loving god is that god is counseling this dead beat god god is so careful that he has looked on cain's countenance look at the loving god who's running the universe who is watching your facial expressions [Applause] why is your countenance falling you look sad look look at how far god comes down to reaching you look sad if thou does what is right will you not be accepted that sentence alone promises cain redemption if you learn from who you hate to all the haters that are streaming online tonight i have an announcement it is easier to learn from people in favor than it is to hate them because the hate will always backfire you should be a student of the person rather than a antagonist of the person because if you do what they did you can get what they got if you do what they did the reason that i cannot win in the pga tournament is that i didn't do what tiger did if i did what tiger did i could perform like tiger does but i didn't start swinging a club when i was eight years old i didn't grow up in that environment and it's too late for me to start now so there's no need of me being a hater because we both got two arms and two legs and eyes and feet and a nervous system and a cardiovascular system we came here with the same equipment why are you jealous i tell you why you're jealous you're jealous because you don't want to put the work in he says but if you do not do what is right sin is crouching at the door it desires to have you but you must rule over it god is pleading with him to get himself together now cain said to his brother abel let's go out to the field wait a minute this is an invitation because abel is a shepherd and cain is a tiller of the ground he says come on over into my territory so i can get you so satan who falls from heaven doesn't come for jesus in heaven he falls to earth and says come on over into the field [Applause] and here comes jesus over into the field just like abel comes over into the field and while they were in the field cain attacked his brother abel and killed him i'm looking for clues i'm looking for clues because this theme is going to run all through the bible it is concealed in the old testament it is revealed in the new testament we we are at the cross at the cross where i first saw the light and the burdens of my heart roll away it was there by faith i received my sight and now i am happy it doesn't look like the cross but it is concealed this is where the murder takes place the innocent abel dies because of the malice of men and then the lord said to cain yo this is my version yo where your bro he off that easy anyone who kills cain will suffer vengeance seven times over then the lord put a mark on cain so that no one who found him would kill him because the curse is letting him wander so cain went out from the lord's presence and lived in the land of nod east of eden he lost his job he lost his state he lost his standing because the blood yet speaketh are you following me now i want to go to hebrews for a minute let's go to hebrews for a minute hebrews 11 and 4. oh we got some clues now don't we we're getting some clues you watching online are you getting these clues you got to get these clues it's going to help you understand this theme goes all the way through the bible it's a bloody trail we're following it's a bloody trail that starts with the coats of skin that god cut off foundations of the world when rahab dropped that red cord out that window that cord runs all the way through the bible this is a bloody book this is a murder mystery this is a whodunit story this is a case of following the bloody trail all the way up the path to redemption and it starts in the first chapter and it starts with the first family and it starts with the first kill and we're collecting hebrews is writing in light back to people who are living in shadows and he's trying to convince him that if you think my shadow was awesome wait till you come into the light of what the shadow came man he spoke to himself and said let us make man in our own likeness and in our own image now if this if the fish has to stay in the water and the vegetation has to stay in the ground and the bird has to stay in the air then i have to stay in god in him i live in him i move in him i have my being so so no wonder cain said this is too much for me to bear because he said i am separated from the presence of god so when you separate yourself from the presence of god if you want to know what you did to your soul go down here and take a fish and pull him out of the water and watch him start flopping it and flopping and gasping and eventually pass away he doesn't die the moment you pull him out the water but it won't be long before he died the day he ate of the tree he didn't die that day but but he's flopping so you got a separated man with a separated apron trying to save himself through his separation are you following what i'm saying to you and everything else that was born in him is born disconnected so you're trying to be connected when you were born disconnected okay now the naive is disconnected from her promise because the promise was in her seed by the way women don't the devil to tell you that you are coming into the autumn and winter of your life and god has somehow failed you because you didn't see what you expected to see the way you were supposed to see it just because you see it doesn't mean you'll realize it moses saw the promised land but he didn't go into it but he led them up to it the next generation walked into what the former generation only we're living in now we got all of this technology look at how you are living in your ancestors dreams how can you tell yourself you're not successful you must be successful don't make your grandfather bear and and and microwave lovers and all of this kind of stuff look at generations breaking curses walking in the blessings but you don't feel blessed because you are comparing yourself to yourself and what you had in mind and you thought it was going to be a tree and it was an acorn seeds soils and suns you are the sons of people who went before you and suffered things you don't even understand your normal is their miracle and how can you be in their promised land and still be complaining about a wilderness you know nothing about seeds soils and suns seed soil and suns seed soil and sons ladies and gentlemen brothers and sisters in the light of shadows we now stand everybody who went before us is in the shadows of where we came from we are in the light of shadows how does it feel to
