foreign to be retro today we're going to take a look at doing an In-Place upgrade from proxbox 7 to proxbox 8. to get started open a web browser and navigate to the proxmox web UI and log in next select the node name in the left navigation menu then click shell to launch the web-based terminal before you go any further make sure all the VMS and Linux containers running on the host are stopped we'll start by using regular expression to disable the PVE Enterprise app Repository the proxmox community repo if you're not already using it then we'll run apt update and app to upgrade to install any available software updates for the current proxmox 7 installation I'll navigate back to the proxbox web UI you'll see that I've upgraded from 7.4-3 to 7.4-15 foreign next run apt clean to reclaim any space being used by the APT package cache then we'll run the PVE 7 to 8 upgrade utility to verify no known issues exist with the current host moving to proxbox 8. review the output of the upgrade utility checking any errors and warnings before moving forward in this example I had one warning regarding the network time protocol service this doesn't concern me so I'll continue with my upgrade using regular expression I'll update the app repositories from Bullseye to bookworm followed by an apt update to refresh the APT package listings [Music] you see in the after repository URLs Bullseye has been replaced with bookworm finally I'll run app dis upgrade to install the software updates from Debian Bookworm in proximox8 you should monitor the terminal as you will be prompted if there are configuration file changes that you have made that you would like to keep or services that require a restart I always just press enter to accept the default options unless I know I want a clean config file once the upgrade completes run apt clean one more time to reclaim the space being used by the app cache then reboot the proxmox host once the reboot completes navigate back to the proxbox web UI and refresh welcome to proxmox8 upgraded in place from proxmox 7.
