The Galaxy A55 5G has
made its grand entrance, cementing its place as Samsung's
sought-after smartphone. It's the latest addition
to the Galaxy A5 series, following A54,
A53, A52,
and so forth. Samsung could potentially achieve record
sales in 2024 with the Galaxy A55 5G. A few days ago, I showcased the 2024
Galaxy A series on YouTube. Check out my video for a look at
other products like the Galaxy A35 5G. Today,
we're focusing on the Galaxy A55 5G, a highly intriguing smartphone. Why? It's a balanced device that
demonstrates Samsung's expertise, particularly in the mid-range market. I really like this design
with the glass back, it's so elegant. The brushed metal sides
are also a favorite. But there's one thing I
dislike about Samsung. I've mentioned it before
and I'll say it again I doubt Samsung is waiting for Mr. GRrr's approval to make changes. However,
there's an issue that concerns me. Samsung,
like Apple and other manufacturers, aims to adopt a more eco-friendly
approach by emphasizing their careful use of recycled materials in packaging. I found this particularly intriguing as
the cardboard and paper-like packaging makes unboxing a bit challenging, but it's great because it indicates
environmentally friendly materials. The canvas-like fabric used
also seems eco-conscious, likely recycled and recyclable. The absence of individual charging blocks, opting for a single block
for multiple devices, is another eco-friendly move. Despite these efforts, one persistent problem with
Samsung remains unresolved. They encase their smartphones
in a plastic film, seemingly for protection. I dislike this transparent plastic as it
serves no real purpose and contradicts their sustainability claims. Why does Samsung use plastic wrap
on smartphones when it goes against their eco-friendly messaging? This practice needs to change,
one smartphone at a time. Half of the smartphone is plastic. And knowing that these smartphones
will be sold in large quantities all over the world, I believe it's exactly
the same with the A35. So, this means we end up with large
amounts of plastic on the smartphones. And to me, that's complete nonsense. We shouldn't have that. So you see, I'm demonstrating it. I've kept it really carefully to show you. So you see, I've removed everything... These are the transparent plastic bits
that wrap around your Samsung Galaxy A55. Maybe Samsung will tell me: no,
don't worry Mr. GRrr,
it's completely recycled plastic, it's harmless. I'm not convinced,
and I'm quite sure it's utterly useless. Today, you only find this with Samsung. If you look at other manufacturers,
they don't have it. I find that disappointing,
a negative for me. Not the worst,
doesn't mean the product is bad. It's good. However, there comes a moment when
you must raise your voice. This way, my thoughts might reach Samsung
and inspire alterations in a forthcoming model. That's essentially my brief
critique of this model. Otherwise, the Galaxy A55 5G stands out
due to the brushed metal, offering an exceptionally luxurious feel. Here you have,
I don't know if you'll notice, I'm going to zoom in as much as possible. There's a slight demarcation that makes
it very easy to find the area to turn on your phone and the volume button. I think that's very good. The handling is pleasant,
fitting well in my hand... The flat edges suit me. SIM card reader on top, no surprises. The screen is stunning, typical of Samsung Super AMOLED panel,
Full HD+ resolution, 2340x1080 pixels,
6. 6-inch diagonal,
and up to 120 Hz refresh rate. It's great,
offering smooth performance for gaming, browsing,
or any task. Highly responsive and smooth,
I really like it. If you know Samsung screens,
you'll appreciate their top-notch quality. I love them. A visual comfort mode reduces eye
strain by making the screen yellower. You can adjust the color temperature,
but avoid setting it too cool. Don't set it all the way down. Adjust it slightly to
make your screen yellower. I think it's better. Given the SGS certification
for eye-friendliness, it's crucial. Plus, it reaches an impressive
1000 nits of brightness. Let me demonstrate by
maxing out the brightness. You'll witness its remarkable brightness. Here,
I'm showing it to you in broad daylight, brightness maxed out. There's plenty of sunshine. You can see it clearly. Honestly, I can still see well. It's quite pleasant. Even when I face away from the light, it's a bit harder with
the sun's reflection. But standing here, I still see clearly. So that's good. Readability and brightness are excellent. For watching movies and series,
YouTube content, and even Mr. GRrr's channel, it's great. You have stereo speakers. One here and another there. The left speaker will be a reinforcement
speaker but it will really fit the bill. For anything multimedia,
you won't have any issues. Multimedia, gaming. Just a heads up! When discussing gaming, don't anticipate an incredibly
powerful smartphone. We're still in the mid-range segment. It boasts the Samsung
Exynos 1480 5G processor it's sufficient but won't match the
performance of a Galaxy S24 or S24 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Here, you have a competent processor
with mid-range performance. The new addition this year is
the inclusion of 8GB of RAM in your smartphone. This will bring more
smoothness and comfort. You have two storage
options: 128 or 256 GB. It's worth noting that you can boost
storage up to 1TB with a Micro SD card. You have the flexibility to opt for one
SIM card and an additional SIM card, or one SIM card and a Micro SD card,
but not all three simultaneously. The phone boasts a
sizable 5000 mAh battery, a common feature in
mid-range smartphones, tending towards the
upper mid-range segment. It offers rapid charging up to 55W; however,
the charging block is not provided. You'll have to source a charger from
another brand or acquire the 25W charger from Samsung's website. For further details, the link is available in
the description below. I'm personally a big fan
of Samsung smartphones. Why? Because their software experience
is extremely efficient. One interesting feature
is the fingerprint sensor. You just place your finger on it,
and it unlocks very quickly. It's highly responsive. One UI is a fantastic software
experience that you should definitely consider exploring. Why? Because you already have color
codes that let you know where you are in your menus... There's a lot on digital
wellbeing and parental controls. Plenty of information on your screen,
about your usage, your battery. Everything is clear and readable. It's a very, very strong point. We have plenty of info here. Add icons if desired. One UI 6 is thorough. I've created a video for you. Check it on YouTube to learn more. If you own another Android or iPhone, Smart Switch can help you switch to
your Samsung Galaxy A55 seamlessly. If you have another Samsung product,
be it a PC, a tablet, or perhaps you're with someone
who also has a Samsung smartphone, you can use QuickShare
to share your content, photos,
and whatever you like very easily. Moreover, Samsung provides us with 4 years of OS
updates and 5 years of security updates. That's huge! And what would Samsung be without
an interesting camera part? As you can see,
there are three sensors on the back. You'll find a main 50-megapixel sensor
that takes photos in 12 megapixels. I... wouldn't advise you to
take photos in 50MP. If you capture images at 50MP, you will miss out on the Pixel
Binning technology that merges pixels. To enhance your photo quality,
opt for 12MP instead of 50MP. Next, you have a second sensor. It's a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle. That's also an aspect that's been
improved from the previous generation. Interesting! And you have a 5-megapixel macro sensor. I'll show you the
results in just a moment. Samsung praises night photography,
claiming it's excellent. I have mixed feelings and
will show results soon. Super HDR is available in videos too. We'll explore that shortly. Also, there's a selfie camera upfront. It's a 32-megapixel camera. That's also a new feature compared
to the previous generation. I'll show you the software
experience output. When you take selfies or rear photos,
you can choose the ultra-wide angle, and zoom up to 4x digitally. There's no telephoto lens,
so it's all digital zoom here. Either in 12 megapixels
or in 50 megapixels. I recommend using the 12 for
Pixel Binding technology, it will be significantly better. You have the video mode, you see, in 4K. Here, it's set to 30. You also get Full HD at 60 fps. 4K at 30 is pretty good too. Next, you'll have a few extra
modes to explore: macro, night,
and food. This phone isn't really designed for
extravagant photo and video tasks. You can also check out
portrait and fun modes, which require wifi. It's perfect for some fun moments,
but not for top-notch results. Look, pay attention, do you see? I've got the fun mode... on my head, the tired mode. There, take a look at what you get from
a software experience standpoint for the photo-video part. Overall, the photos are pretty good. Here, I took some indoor shots. We were having a paddle session. The quality, to me, is fairly decent. Look there, you can see a serve. So, we struggle a bit with motion blur. The speed won't match
an HONOR Magic 6 Pro, which is to be expected. It shoots fast, but not excessively so. Movement may seem a bit blurry,
struggling a bit... Night photos didn't excite me much. I don't find them extraordinary. The skin tones aren't amazing. Sometimes I'm a bit blurry. It does highlight bright signs,
but I have some minor issues. The streetlight is similar. We're using a mid-range smartphone,
so nothing surprises me. It's not bad, acceptable for a
smartphone under 500 euros. In daylight, it's really good. See the sky,
clouds, colors around this tree. Similarly,
I can capture plants, not in macro yet. It's quite pretty, don't you think? The output is high-quality. And in macro mode, it's not bad. It surprises me for once, quite good. However, Samsung tends to oversaturate
photos with its image processing, which can be flattering. The pistil is clearly visible,
details are well captured, it works. Here too, here as well. Here, it's a bit more challenging
to find the right distance. But here, I'm quite good with distance. The macro output isn't too bad,
which is a plus. I've taken some more photos. Here, I'm not in macro mode. Once again,
you can see it's quite saturated. The handling of backlighting on the
main sensor really works very well. The ultra-wide angle is also pretty good. We can zoom in x2, x4 up to x10,
and as you can see, at x10 the quality is no
longer acceptable at all. Here it's not too bad,
there's a bit of a hazy side to it. It struggles a bit because
the sun is right above, making it a bit more challenging for it. You can really tell here
on the ultra-wide angle. We can zoom in, get closer. Same here. The rendering is quite good. We can get closer but not too much. Here we're not against the light,
and it's immediately much better. You can see there's a difference
in colorimetry between the wide angle and the ultra-wide angle. The grass is paler than this... what we find here. With the pine branches on the left, the color treatment is
not the same at all. It struggles a bit with highlights. Disabling pixel binding technology. Zooming into the sensor... Selfies are good too. Decent digital zoom out. Works well with backlighting. It works well. I've taken more photos to show you. They're quite similar and acceptable. We're facing challenges
with highlights here. Now, we're using the wide angle. Observe the clouds closely. Switching to the ultra-wide angle,
you'll see it becomes a bit overexposed, posing a challenge. Despite more megapixels in the sensor, the ultra-wide angle may not always
produce exceptional results compared to the previous generation. Overall,
it's good, but sometimes it's a bit less great. Let me show you more photos; they're decent and work for me. In video, we're shooting in 4K at
30 frames per second. Not 60,
but for a smartphone like this one, it's more than enough. The main sensor has optical
stabilization that does the job well. With the selfie camera,
you're also recording in... 4K, 30 frames per second. Here, there's no stabilization. Be careful, it's going to shake more. I suggest placing it
down to prevent issues. That way, you're all set. It's a bit snug. Feel free to adjust it back
and add a mic for convenience. If you plan to use it for
vlogging or capturing memories, we can still make it work. Another major strength of this smartphone
is that you can easily edit your photos and access some features
with artificial intelligence. You go into your gallery,
let's pick any photo, like this one here. See, I just press here on my pencil. Then I go to this sort of four dots
that make a square at the bottom right. There,
I'll have various interesting features. The object eraser,
for instance, if I want to erase something,
see, that bothers me in the frame. I might want to circle this. I want to delete it... It's detected. I click on erase... It's erasing it, back and forth. It erased it while adding
a bit of content for me. We won't delve into all the
capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It's... pretty good. We can add facial effects,
tweak face slimness, and explore various fun options. You can effortlessly enhance
your photos using the software experience available here. It's truly fascinating. This smartphone will
accompany you everywhere, boasting durability with Corning
Gorilla Glass Victus Plus. Additionally,
it's IP67 certified, ensuring water and dust resistance. While it's not recommended for swimming, it can withstand water and dust
exposure without any issues. Another difference from the Galaxy... A54 5G is that it features Wi-Fi 6, offering faster connectivity
with a Wi-Fi 6 router. It offers 128 or 256GB storage options, priced at 499 euros for 8-128 version
and 549 euros for 8-256 version, with a repairability score of 8. 5 out of 10. Personally, I appreciate this smartphone
for its well-balanced features powerful performance,
good camera quality, excellent screen,
good audio, sleek design without large black borders. This is a very decent smartphone,
quite good. If your budget is around 500 euros, it's truly an extremely
interesting product. Check out the link in the description. For a well-rounded
smartphone with good screen, camera,
performance, and battery life,
the Galaxy A55 5G is likely the right choice. Watch my video featuring all Galaxy
