I'm going to be really honest about Curateur.

hey it's lauren from holy beautiful and today we are going to be doing a little rundown and review of kiratur which is rachel zoe's box which was formerly box of style now i believe that curator this is their first official box since the transition of the brand and rebranding um in this box there were six items and i'm not gonna lie to you when i saw the ad for this this necklace was the selling point for me i think that the really interesting thing about boxes like this is that everyone is going to have one particular item that really stands out and sells them on that box and that's the unique thing is that a box offers you multiple different items every time that you receive it um and an opportunity to kind of explore something from a new brand so i will just preface this by saying i normally don't love box subscriptions and i don't do them um the reason that this box in particular spoke to me was the fact that it is such a well curated selection of products but also it is not every month it's every season so there's four boxes a year like every three months you get a new box and that to me is a big deal because i don't like accumulating a ton of random oddball things in my house i would much rather have a much more decisive selection of products that are sent to me and so that's really what sold me on this box not only that but this box in particular is more high-end luxury items um and you're getting them for a really great deal like a lot of the items in this box cost more than the monthly box itself or like the the you know seasonal subscription for that season um this necklace being one of them and i was like oh my god sign me up right now um and i also had like a like a promo code that i had seen somewhere so um i paid i think seventy dollars for my box i think it was like sixty nine dollars we'll just round up and call it a nice even 70. and i got six items in this particular box one of which is this eddie borgo necklace which i believe it is a gold for may it's a very very heavy chain necklace it has a clasp let me find it it's a clasp that blends in with the chains it's just a beautiful necklace and this is like one of those semi-fine pieces of jewelry that you would see retailing i believe this one retails for 350 and it's just i mean it's a statement piece i love it um that's something that i really liked about this box too is that i personally stick with mostly like beauty related stuff be it makeup skin care hair care and i tend to kind of forget about my wardrobe and fashion and accessorizing and so like having it all in a box that kind of keeps me on trend and sends me something to look really nice and polished and put together like i'm all for it so love this necklace big big fan this like i said was the selling piece of this box for me um the other accessories that came in this box are these sunglasses from lispix and i have to be honest i normally would probably not choose this style for myself and at first i was kind of wondering like are these a little too like narrow for my face but i actually really like them i like i don't know they just kind of ended up working for me and i just feel very chic when i wear them this is the style called neptune and i can't remember exactly how much these retail for originally i want to say it's 89 they also send you with this case and it has like one of these little like pop openings and it has a lens cleaner this was one of the items that you can select they give you two options and you can choose which option you want for your box like you get all of your curation and then you have this one object that is like a flex item that you can select yourself and so this was what i chose the other option was um chain link earrings that also matched this necklace but i just i liked these i don't know i thought they were kind of different and fun for me and out of my comfort zone and i actually really love them so very happy with that decision the other sorry i have to lean down the other um accessory that came with this is this tote this is a rachel zoe tote you can see the logo there and on the inside there is a little pouch and this is detachable it um unsnaps but this is a really nicely constructed tote um it's great as like a weekender or if you have a laptop or something like that i love this like kind of bordeaux color clearly we have like a color theme going on today i'm very matchy with all of that um but i really like this tote it actually it's one of those ones that i can easily sling over my shoulder really really like the overall size and shape it's got a really nice sturdy side to it so it's not constantly collapsing it's not like super soft um it's made of vegan leather and personally i prefer real leather i just i think it stands up over time better it wears better i personally wish that there was an option for items like this to select actual leather rather than vegan leather that's just a personal preference um but it's a very nice tote either way so they give you like i said they give you options like to select items like this i just wish that like when it came to vegan leather or actual leather you had the option to select actual leather and i personally would even pay a little bit more because i know that it's going to last in my wardrobe and my collection a little bit longer so that's just you know that's a me thing but i like this tote a lot i think it's really really pretty now um for more of our beauty items which also i was very excited about these um one of which is the kat berkey serum this is like a marine collagen gel um i have to be very honest with you i have not used this yet because i am currently trying out something else that has skin care benefits and i try to not try a bunch of new things all at once um that way i can see how they're working and actually have a valid opinion so i i cannot speak to the effectiveness of this or really give you any insight into it um i do know that this is a very expensive item i want to say it's like 150 or 160 dollars if you were to buy this individually so this costs more than the entire um curator box itself which is kind of crazy you get a really really great deal with certain items and they counter balance that with items that are not quite as expensive as well but i will have to try that and let you guys know what i think of it because i don't know like people were like raving about this and like i haven't gotten my serum yet that was another thing we'll get to that in a minute there was some issues with the fall shipment going out but i'm gonna come back to that okay the next item was the anastasia beverly hills liquid glow in the shade perla which i have on my cheeks and it's this beautiful really well balanced kind of champagne color i'll do a little swatch on my hand so you can see it's a liquid highlight and a little dab will do you like it goes a long way but what i like so much about this is it is very it's easy to blend it's incredibly lightweight i could see this being very flattering on a lot of skin tones which is i'm sure why they chose it because it's really not overly warm or cool once you get it on and it's very very sheer and the shimmer in it is very very fine so you're not going to have like giant chunks of glitter on your face and so i just feel like between the formula and the way that that feels and the color selection the shimmer level in it i feel like that's a product that a lot of people would really love myself included i think it's really um i would say kind of like a an easy step into a highlighter if you're someone who normally doesn't wear a highlighter i think that this is a really beautiful pick and i will also say i haven't tried a lot of anastasia beverly hills products other than her eyebrow products and so this is something that really kind of makes me want to venture into more of her products so that's definitely like a win for me and the last item that came to me they kind of do a little bit of like your fashion your makeup and cosmetics and then they do like a little bit of like um houseware type things periodically it seems like as well and there's this uh apothic candle and the what was it called charcoal this smells so lovely like it's like a little bit warm but very clean at the same time i love the scent of that it reminds me of like a boutique hotel like it just has like this it's a it's almost like a signature scent for your house love love love this candle um i have been burning it quite a bit and the burn time on this was really really good i think it was like 60 to 80 hours it doesn't say it on here it said it on the box but it's like a very long burn time i felt like and i just i really love it i i'm a candle person anyway i will say like especially during the fall and winter i i pretty much always have a candle burning in my house because i just i love the kind of coziness of it um so that was kind of like the wild card of the box that i don't know that i was like super excited about but i actually really love it and i'm glad that they included it because i probably wouldn't have like splurged on a really nice candle like this for myself i don't buy super expensive candles normally because i burned through them so quickly um but this is like such a nice little surprise so overall i have been so so happy with this box and everything that came in it i absolutely love with the exception of the cat berkey serum just because i'm trying something else i haven't really tried that yet but overall i think that you get a lot of bang for your buck with this the other thing that's really great that i haven't even talked about yet is that when you become a member and you're paying for each season of the box you have access to what's called the shop where you can shop different items that were either in the boxes like the last couple of boxes and then they also work with other brands um to bring you a discount on those items and so like you can get stuff up to 60 off um and then when you purchase those they come in your upcoming box i don't think that they ship those separately i think they always come in the next upcoming box i will have to clarify that uh with them because i'm not really entirely sure but i think that's also a really really cool option and you can get some stuff that's just like really really nice for a bit of a discount so you definitely get some extra perks by signing up for this box um okay now the other thing i wanted to come back to i had some issues getting my box to me like there was a little bit of a delay okay a lot of a delay like let's be honest here i purchased this box and then as i was like on their instagram like i started following them and stuff and i started noticing all these people that were like freaking out because they hadn't received their box yet and i was like oh god oh no like what's about to happen and so from my understanding there was some like back order type stuff with this um and they were like waiting on it and they were like i think holding off on sending out boxes and then people were like freaking out because they hadn't gotten their box that they had paid for and i'm just like watching all of this as someone who just signed up for the first time i'm like oh dear god like this is bad this is really bad so i think like a week had gone by and my box had said unfulfilled and i was like oh no it's happening so i um i messaged their customer service and then like i didn't hear back for a while and that kind of freaked me out too i was like okay like this is a problem so eventually their customer service got back to me and they were like okay we're so sorry we're gonna get a box sent out to you we're gonna expedite that whatever and then it showed that it had like shipped and then it didn't ship like there was no update in the tracking like showing that the carrier actually received the item and i'm like watching this and i'm just like oh god like what have i done this is so bad and so like i had issues with that and so i messaged them again and um eventually they were like okay we're just gonna send you like a new like a second box entirely and um after 13 days of that initial like shipping for the first box it finally updated and said that it was shipping and then that's after they had already decided to send me another box like expedited because they couldn't track like they had scanned it out of their warehouse and then they had no idea where it was it got lost somehow so i don't know that was all a bit of a mess and like the one thing i will say is that in this coveted world that we are living in there are issues with um production and manufacturing and things like that there's delays kind of all over the world and so like i'm very understanding of that kind of thing but what i had a really hard time with when all of this happened was that there was such a delay in the responses that i was getting um but i will say like they really stepped it up and they were like hey we're going to send you another box um and then once they arrived they were like you know just don't worry about it you can gift that to someone else and so you know i feel like they handled it really well i think that they probably just had such a big influx in customer service issues that they were trying to resolve and so it delayed the time of responses and um you know i think those things happen and i also i had to wonder too just from different jobs that i've had in the past any time that you have a shift like internally like or like in their case rebranding and becoming curator instead of box of style i think sometimes you can go through some growing pains and so i think that you know it might have just been because of the production issues with one of the companies that was in the box um the influx and customers that needed customer service and then just the changes to the brand overall i think that it was kind of the perfect storm um because the other comments that i had read prior to this whole fall box debacle was that like people love the box like they've loved the curations from rachel zoe and have been really really happy with their subscriptions so despite my issues with this first box and it getting to me um once it actually did i really really love the items and i'm looking forward to my upcoming boxes with them i think that they really tried to win me back because i felt like early on they were going to lose me because i'm like i've paid for a box that i haven't received yet and i'm kind of freaking out but they made up for it the box itself has beautiful beautiful items in it the upcoming box i'm really excited about too there's some really pretty i like items and objects in that and i think that going forward it'll be a lot smoother i mean it's not to say that there won't be hiccups in production and brands and stuff like that that's that's probably gonna happen but i have faith in them that they're going to handle it um even if there are delays they do get back to you so like i hope that that's helpful
