New York City started hip-hop right like we could all agree on that right and and years later there would be this massive uh you know beef between POC and Biggie and you know east and west but what was the relationship like with East Coast hip-hop when you guys started like did you guys have a relationship with them or was their conversation we was fans yeah you know we were fans we studied you know the best coops out there everything that was coming out of New York we studied it and um embraced it and um sharpened our tools you know with with those great artists those great records we sharpened our tools we you know but we wanted to kind of carve our own lane because doing imitations of what they were doing wasn't working for us so we started to carve our own Landings just like let's just talk about the [ __ ] that's going on in the hood let's just talk about what's going on around here and if we just become neighborhood Stars that's good enough that's better than what what that's better than what we are now and [ __ ] you know so once we did that that's when we got our Niche everybody really started to pay attention and we love New York and we was embraced by the East Coast um but it was an undercurrent in the industry of people who you know thought that our our records was too hard you know our records was uh you know not real hip-hop you know I mean it was just kind of just uh like Street records and and so um that was just kind of in the industry you know with the with the writers and the DJs and the and the people that made the industry kind of click and then it kind of reverberated a little to the artist you know I think you know before Biggie and pop you know uh Tim Dogg had a record called [ __ ] Compton um and that was just kind of out of the blue and so it was just you know those kind of things just uh kind of came to a head with big impot hey there if you like the clip make sure to subscribe or check out this recommended clip to my right
