I Went to the World's Emptiest Country

so last month I became single my six-year relationship came to an end and honestly I wanted time alone I wanted to escape from humans from big cities from people all of them so I looked at the world map and found a country that doesn't have many humans there's nothing around us nothing nothing in fact the country is 99.9 empty it is the emptiest country in the world and I decided to see it this is the incredible story of Greenland when I landed in Greenland uh betrayed somebody lied to me about the country name Greenland does not mean it's all green in fact 90 of Greenland is white it is covered by a giant ice sheet that is whiter than Snow White this is the ice sheet this is the only place in Greenland where you can see the ice sheet where there is a road we are so lucky to be here and we're gonna go actually walk on the ice sheet very soon [Music] so you can walk here all the way to East Greenland all the way to an offering land on this one huge ice thousands of kilometers of ice Greenland is actually the largest island in the world and guess what it has zero trees zero no trees grow naturally in the entire country because of the harsh weather and most of the trees you see here are actually planted but that doesn't matter because it's still magical magical they have huge icebergs that break into the ocean every summer all of this broke from the ice sheets and they come here to this ocean to melt foreign coming out to the ocean where 40 meters of ice so 40 meters of this leave Greenland and enter the ocean every single day you can see them up close and even paddle around them if we fall we will face the death they have huge mountains with waterfalls you can get so close to it and drink Iceberg water directly it tastes amazing it's really cold or you can helicopter around to go from City to City this is the best feeling ever helicoptering in Greenland freezing cold taking videos that's the point of life Greenland has no highways and no trains instead it has dogs we are now in basically the middle of nowhere about to go dog sledding with 19 dogs 19 dogs dogs letting this is the greenlandic sled dog it is the only dog allowed in Northern Greenland because it is 100 pure and 100 cute this is amazing he likes me this guy likes me he's the leader no no no she does like me I'll give your brother it's the closest thing to a wall and people use it to travel around to this day oh my God what is happening as a single guy I was loving my time in Greenland surrounded by Nature dogs and icebergs but then I missed people and I wanted to know who the hell lives in Greenland turns out in the world's largest island only 57 000 people live and I found them welcome to the people of Greenland are way more interesting than nature they all have a European passport because Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark but they also have a prime minister this is him I'm the prime minister of Greenland and everyone is welcome here in our country the people of Greenland are called Inuits the indigenous people of the Arctic they lived here for thousands of years and trust me it's not easy living here when you walk in snow for one day it reflects too much sunlight into your eyes it's called snow blindness if walk one day on the snow you get snow blindness that's why we need to cover our eyes so the Inuit were the first people in the world to invent sunglasses this is it these are the first sunglasses ever ever they're invented by the Inuit which is your people in Alaska and Northern Canada and Greenland and they're designed for snow and these limit the amount of sunlight that goes into your eyes it's simple but it's so so so useful the harsh environment also affected their body over time their body created a skin layer around their eyes to protect them from snow blindness that's why they look Asian so no you're not Asian I'm not Asian so how do you look Asian probably because of our ancestors are Asian [Music] but now in 2023 the green lenders of today live in towns like this one a few hundred houses next to each other each house with a unique color this is a yellow house and yellow means Hospital the red means the schools the church and the groceries and the blue means the factories green means the telecommunication but why does every house have a color the houses are colored so you would know where to go when you come to the Village their phones are also unique they have the shortest phone numbers I ever saw because there's only 57 000 of them we have so few here that our phone numbers are only six digits the taxi number is three two one three two one and my phone number is that's it that's it but the best thing about Greenland is the community it's only you and 57 000 people they will take care of you they will show you around they will smile at your camera and help you if you need help because Greenland is so remote and so empty humans rely on each other more we greenlanders love to help each other because this is the reason why we have survived our Arctic environment they're friendlier and more welcoming than anywhere else I came to this country wanting to be with nature and dogs and icebergs but after meeting so many locals so many new friends and humble Prime Ministers I fell in love with Greenland it is way more than just an empty country it is a Place full of life and Beauty And even if you're single or not single we all need a bit of Greenland in our life bring back
