shane dawson some people like him and some don't me personally though i don't really care about that i'm just here to talk about all these documentaries that he made like two years ago in the past few weeks of my life i've been obsessed i've decided to take it upon myself to watch every single one of them all seven series combined they are about 23 hours long which is a lot now the main reason i decided to do this to myself right now at this moment is because i felt like enough time has passed since it came out for me to actually be able to look at them without all the hype that revolved around them at the time and also i've already seen all of his movies and all his short films as well so i think this will be really interesting to see in comparison how much he has evolved since these really bad movies has he gone better these are also things that he had full creative control over it you know since they're just youtube videos at the end of the day so i want to see if he did a good job i want to decide if these documentaries are actually good or not now if you'd go over all these documentaries you'd notice one clear thing that there is one element that really brings them all together which is the fact that they are way too long for their own good i mean the jeffree star series alone is somewhere around 8 hours long in total in comparison the documentary feels good man which i really liked is only 94 minutes long and i'm sure that they had way more material than what shane had and listen it's not like i have a problem with youtube videos being long if that time is used efficiently i mean i'm practically addicted to jenny nicholson videos and they're long as hell but with her there is a clear reason for that she goes extremely in depth into every topic she talks about which is definitely not the case with shane's long documentaries in his videos uh you notice that there's a lot of walking around and talking about random [ __ ] that has nothing to do with the topic that they're supposed to be following and also oddly enough there's a very weird amount of house tours he's like addicted to doing them seriously take a shot every time there's a house tour in this thing you're not going to be throwing up at the end but you still might be like hey that was kind of a lot i didn't expect it to be that much now the way i'm going to be addressing this is i'm just gonna be going over these series one by one and at the end of each segment like that i'll be giving each documentary a normal classic rating between one to ten and when we're fully done with all of them we'll see exactly what's the average score of all these bad boys that way we can figure out in a concise and scientific way if they're actually good or not i'm very excited and i'm sure that you are too so uh subscribe [Music] documentary number one tana [ __ ] the truth about all that tanacon stuff now this was shane's very first documentary at least what i'd count as a documentary and it was about a topic that i think is very interesting i was really excited for it to come out at the time and i think that was for a good reason essentially this documentary revolves around tana mongo's big mistake if you don't know who's tana she's just you know one of those youtubers who do really dumb [ __ ] all the time and get in trouble for it you don't really need to worry about her too much what's tanacon you may ask well tana being one of those youtubers who do dumb [ __ ] all the time decided to do uh something that's bit dumb essentially at the time for what i remember she was really pissed at vidcon about the way they handle things about the fact that they didn't invite her or something like that so being the very petty person that she is she decided haha i'm gonna throw my own convention it's gonna be a lot better it's gonna have a bunch of youtubers invited it's gonna be right next to vidcon at the exact same dates and we're gonna set it all up in like a month it's gonna be amazing and free somehow this was obviously a huge disaster the venue they booked was way too small for the amount of people that showed up people were standing outside for hours upon hours and were getting seriously burnt and dehydrated i think a girl was moved to the hospital as well all because of tana's really dumb mistake she also made a bunch of really dumb promises like if you bought the vip ticket which was 60 something dollars you would get this gift bag and tana promised everyone that this gift bag would be worth four times the price that they paid for it and then what people got was like two stickers and a condom which is absolutely pathetic i think this whole thing was extremely irresponsible and tana actually put her fans in danger by doing this the reason i was so excited about this amongst many others was that shane promised he said that he's really gonna go into tana you know he's not gonna hold back he doesn't care that he's her friend she needs to be held accountable and he was the one to do that which i thought was great because usually that's not really something that you see with youtubers they [ __ ] up they make a lazy apology video and a few years afterwards they start a podcast and start opening pokemon cards and everyone likes them again but this time this was not gonna be the case shane was gonna interview her and she would actually have to answer for all of this she would actually have to say why the hell did she think that this is something that she could do so let's see was this executed well i don't know so in episode 1 shane explains exactly what happened and says what he's said to find out essentially who's to blame why this happened and all that and you can really really tell from the way he talks about this that this is a subject that he cares about a lot he really feels bad about disappointing his fans that came to this event which makes sense in this episode we find out that the main two parties that were involved in doing this event are good time entertainment which produced it antana who had this idea in her head in the episode he makes sure to interview a bunch of fans that were at the event so he could actually you know hear from them what happened and that's when we get to see the really pathetic gift bag that they got that's not even material it's like plastic let's do an unboxing oh wow you actually got more than i did i just grabbed them at the end of it he also talks to tana on the phone and honestly i think she comes off as kind of manipulative in that bit she constantly does this thing where she's like oh yeah no it's totally my fault and this is all my doing i don't know if i should say that it's actually this person's fault because i don't know i feel kind of bad already i've been really afraid for the past two days about saying anything negative about michael or good times because it's like no matter how dirty you did me like it's my fault like i agreed i should have listened to people who told me not to work with him i should have done better research i don't know what to say like do i talk about the fact that i was lied to about genuine capacity sizes essentially by doing that she kind of punishes herself already so you don't feel compelled to do it yourself while at the same time secretly shifting the blame well away from her it's pretty smart i guess and i feel like it works as well in this episode i feel like shane does fuel for her when she does that anyways after the second episode this one kicks off with the short but interesting preview of shane brushing tana's hair while she cries already showing us how truly objective this guy's gonna be so the main focus of this one is on the company that produced the event uh good time whatever a company that is owned by this 21 year old kid who clearly is not even close to being competent enough to throw this kind of massive event shane gets his side of the story he explains how much he messed up but also does bring up a few of the problems that came up while working with tana her insane demands like doing it at this specific time at this specific place giving them barely any time to do this sort of thing the fact that she flew to hawaii a day before the event happened which i feel like is completely irresponsible considering the event has her name on it and making them find a venue that can hold thousands of people right next to the big event that she doesn't like i think that up until this point shane does a pretty good job he makes sure to get both sides of the story and he gives us a very good glimpse into why this thing was such a huge mess all the while barely wasting any of our time with the editing you know it's very precise it's very focused uh which is not the case in the future series that we're gonna talk about i'll keep that for a bit later sadly though the ending of this is kind of where he messes it all up he does this confrontation bit between tana and michael the good time entertainment guy and this confrontation seems incredibly unfair uh tana is just sitting next to shane while he brushes her hair crying and while michael is on a little phone in the background trying to speak every time he says something or critiques tana she starts screaming and crying so you can barely [ __ ] hear the guy and at the end of it the sort of feeling you get is that you know tana is cleared all is good now we can move on this is the beginning of what we'll see as the shane dawson pr effect you know youtuber messes up he makes a documentary about them and now everything's good you can go back to liking this person now because they're a human it's very easy to see how much this documentary helped hannah she didn't suffer from the consequences of her actions at all tana decided that she's gonna do whatever the hell she wants to do without even beginning to consider how it's gonna affect other people specifically the people who admire her and look up to her all in all i enjoyed watching this i think it's entertaining it's funny at times it's structured in a way that makes sense it's very simple i think some of the mistakes that shane made were one promising that he's gonna stay unbiased to not being unbiased and three maybe the whole thing about trying to find a clear perpetrator you know someone who's clearly to be blamed for all this i think that was a bad idea when in reality they were all just kind of stupid they all made a really bad call from the get-go by even deciding to throw this event under these conditions tana shouldn't have pushed them to do these things and promise all of her fans all this insane crazy [ __ ] and they on the other hand shouldn't have just said yes to it all all these people are just clearly a bunch of incompetent children which i guess is a pretty good description of most of shane's subjects i think i'm getting this one to seven i enjoyed it even though i thought the ending was kind of bad oh and talking about incompetent children uh it's time to talk about jeffree star's whatever world part one after the tana thing shane decided to make a whole massive documentary series about jeffree star the makeup guy now i'm not gonna be like shane i'm not gonna say that i'm unbiased i'm actually un unbiased i personally don't really like jeffree star i find him annoying he's one of those la people i don't really like and he just kind of reminds me of an annoying child so yeah watching a whole documentary that's made about him was not too fun for me the point of this documentary is essentially just to document jeffree star's crazy life which from my understanding at this point the general public didn't really know much about at the time really it's not a bad idea for a documentary it's just not really for me first episode is literally just a 40-minute long house tour which means you need to take a shot right now in this episode we get a very good insight about how many needlessly expensive things one man can own the answer is a lot too much too much is the answer too many i don't know he has a room that's filled with a bunch of gucci crap that's worth like seven million dollars in total yeah seven million dollars and do you know how many nice houses you can buy for seven million dollars whole bunch of them he also has a [ __ ] 200 spoon why it's not gonna make your food taste better it's just excess for excess sake you're just buying something because it's expensive because you want to be cool i as a certified cool guy don't find any of this to be cool you know watching this house tour really makes me wish we could go back to a simpler time where youtubers felt really ashamed to say how much money they make there's an episode in this where shane sort of switches lives with uh with jeffrey well he just sort of tries to become jeffree star himself and they both wear this really really ugly gucci track suit it looks hideous in my opinion like if it didn't have the gucci logo imprinted on it about a billion times i think it could be something that my grandma would wear while going for a walk though i bet you'd pull it off a lot better also in this documentary series uh we get to see shane cosplaying as a non-rich person he keeps going on all the time about how he wishes he would be as rich as jeffrey he asks jeffrey oh mr star can you please make me as rich as you i am poor i want you to make me rich okay which bathroom should i pee in and is there like a four bathroom or like a these comments keep repeating themselves all the time he's like oh i'm not rich but jeffree star is you're a millionaire like jesus christ you live in a massive house with a pool in l.a that's not something that a non-rich person can buy you know you can point out how crazy jeffree star's life is without downplaying your own wealth it just seems a bit silly in my opinion this was made sort of a miss when people started being like hey i don't like all this racist stuff that jeffree star said so to make jeffree star a more compelling human being shane attempts to give him a started from the bottom now we hear type of backstory which feels kind of ridiculous this whole thing falls completely flat onto its face the second they do a house tour in the place that jeffrey used to grow up in or just lived in i guess i'm not sure jeffrey throughout the series says oh yeah i used to live in this crappy place this [ __ ] [ __ ] hole and then they go in and walk inside of it and it's just this very normal middle-class place also don't forget to take a shot and yeah it's just not even close to this kind of dump that they made it out to be jeffree star to me in this just feels like this weird detached alien he has made so much money and has so much pointless [ __ ] that he just grew so far apart from humanities just on a completely different planet and to shane's credit that is something that they do joke around about it's not really ignored in this but yeah it's just part of the reason why i just can't relate to this guy i'm sorry jeffrey also i just feel like this thing could have been handled way better this was really the first time where they started feeling very comfortable about wasting my time my my precious precious free time in the episode the secret life of jeffree star half of it is just spent with them hanging around in shane's beautiful beautiful house does that count as a house tour i'm not sure you don't have to take a shot if you don't want to and yeah i just don't find any of that really interesting you're giving me this bombastic title and then you're just standing around in a house i don't care about that this thing just needs a lot more focus and that's a critique that's gonna come up again and again and again in all future shane dawson documentaries he doesn't focus on anything at all if you're saying this thing is going to be about the secret life of jeffree star show me that show me the secret life of jeffree star don't show me i don't know you standing around next to your pool i don't give a [ __ ] about that uh the main pros of this series is that it is sort of fascinating at times jeffrey star is really [ __ ] weird he has this pig throne like chair in his backyard that he sits on when he wants to reflect on humanity what the [ __ ] that's the throne where you go to just land the sun and try to stay humble and remember that i'm still a human being the lows of this series are just not too low and the highs are just not that high it's just a vlog let's let's be real with ourselves i think that's just what it is and because of that i'm just going gonna give it a five because i don't really feel a lot about this thing i didn't really care about it when it came out and i don't really care about it now if i'm honest so let's go to the next one jake paul the man who everyone kind of had enough of at this point if you don't know who jake paul is you're probably lying to me but uh to answer your question he's kind of like a male tana [ __ ] it's the same thing same thing also this is unrelated but i'm not sure if i've been pronouncing tana's last name correctly tana mojo now writing off the success and hype of his other two documentaries shane announced that he's gonna make an eight-part documentary series about jake paul's brain the main very difficult question he's attempting to answer this time is the following is jake paul a sociopath now this question has a bunch of problems uh one of them is that prior to this shane had barely any knowledge on who jake paul is and he also didn't really know what a sociopath is which makes him a pretty bad candidate to answer this very difficult question did he do a good job i don't know let's find out like i said there was like a ton of hype before this came out first of all the sociopath question is like whoa a bit crazy is he a sociopath is that why he's been doing all those things i don't know and besides that this was again like the tana thing a chance to actually make a youtuber answer for what they've done which is pretty exciting now first of all when watching this you'd notice that the time management is really really bad it felt like shane has made his mind in advance that this thing has to be eight parts long and that each part needs to be like 40 something minutes long and because of that a lot of the episodes feel insanely bloated like he has to reach the sort of limit so he fills half the series up with a bunch of like nothing a bunch of really pointless moments it really really drags on and for me kind of killed the hype when i started watching it in the first episode which is 45 minutes long shane spends all that time just trying to figure out who jake paul is uh something that i do really like is that he gets inabber fraser a very good friend of mine to explain to him all this stuff essentially using him as a jake paul expert which i find kind of hilarious so the whole episode is just like shane being like hey who is this guy tell me what he did then in the next episode he speaks to youtubers therapist katie morton trying to figure out what a sociopath is this episode really really sucks as well i think katie comes off as really unprofessional when talking about all this stuff shane is like very surprised learning about this topic about sociopaths and responding to that she says things like oh yeah i know isn't it scary i mean you're a therapist job isn't to be judgmental watching these two episodes makes it clear as day that they could have just been condensed into one could have just shown one bit where shane learns and introduces to us all this stuff about jake paul and then the second half could have just spent learning about what a sociopath is now the sociopath angle is a bit stupid i'll talk about that in a bit but yeah it could have just been condensed to that and i think it could have just been paced a lot better and kept it a bit more fresh and interesting now with three episodes in and we still haven't met jake paul but i think we got something that's a lot better in this episode he interviews nick crompton next member of team 10 jake paul's kind of stupid group this episode is actually really really interesting nick crompton is just a normal guy and we get to find out about all the interesting dynamics that they have going on behind the scenes in team 10 and all their like cult-like attitude the way they treat people that leave the group i think that's a lot more of an interesting subject compared to the sociopath one or a subject that shane can actually cover a lot better than the sociopath stuff it really makes me wish that this was the main focus of the jake paul series but oh well you can't always get what you want then in the episode after that we finally finally get to see jake paul's beautiful face i never thought that day would come i i thought we were just gonna keep going in circles shane decided to bring katie with him for this whole thing as an undercover diagnoser what a horrible horrible idea now this episode is again another [ __ ] house tour they count every now and again to bits where katie's like i don't know is he a sociopath is he not but it's just a [ __ ] house tour it's a team 10 house tour shane dawson loves house tours so we're just going to keep seeing them oh also i forgot to say but there was also another one with nick crompton earlier so don't forget that in the next episode in true shane dawson fashion they decide to waste even more of my time by going to walmart and showing it to me as if that's interesting at this point they realized that uh jake paul is not a sociopath and they sort of kind of try to shift the narrative they're trying to show that jake is actually kind of misunderstood oh he's actually a pretty sweet guy they show him like talking to his fans and giving them an autograph as if that's a good indication to how he is as a human being jake is just a poor guy just a poor little guy he doesn't understand why his neighbors are so upset with him if they didn't want jake to cause a massive fire hazard right next to their house they should have just said something about it in advance no one ever communicated with to me their problems no the neighbors never said jake like can you not do this can you not do that yo it's getting like hot fire or not yeah yeah honestly like a lot of the blame was like on me but i should have just called up on him and be like hey jake hey uh listen can you please not almost burn our house down please ah thank you man next episode there's another house tour uh we get to see that the hype house where ricegum lives and alissa violet lives shane does an interview with her and it's actually really interesting raises a bunch of points and stories about their not so great relationship that to be fair are addressed afterwards but maybe not enough in detail i think he might be feeling bad about jake so he doesn't really want to go too much into it but yeah and then we finish it off with the bit that everyone waited for shane's really really really really really long interview with jake paul it's almost two hours long shane does bring up a lot of the main points that the general public wanted him to bring up but then he just kind of lets him get away without answering any of them i think he maybe feels bad for him i don't know the way it goes is that shane would ask him a question he'd be like hey jake uh don't you think that the way that you're advertising to kids is kind of harmful and bad and then jake would be like uh wow i didn't even think about it like that because uh you know i just think that merch is a great way to connect with uh with people oh i didn't even think that it could be bad for kids and then shane would just answer for him he'd be like no it's it's actually because you grew up in this kind of household or whatever and i think you are kind of emotionally and in other ways stunted as a kid man just let him answer your question and if his answer sucks don't let him get away with that or else what's the point of all this why are we doing any of this this is where shane falls flat as an interviewer he just doesn't do a good job he just lets the people he talk to get away with anything this isn't why people decided to watch this documentary he did an interview that's almost two hours long so why waste this time by just being like no it's it's because your parents didn't love you or whatever the [ __ ] that's why you're doing all this if you know in advance that you're gonna feel bad for the person you're interviewing don't make all these claims about how this is gonna be unbiased maybe don't get that close and friendly with the people you're supposed to be confronting and if you feel like you can't do that don't do this topic stay away from it keep talking about conspiracies or whatever now all of this is not to say that there aren't a bunch of good moments in this there are there are a lot of things that are interesting but yeah just lacks focus i think there were a lot of ways to do this differently a lot of ways to fix this if you kicked it off with the ned crompton episode maybe interviewed alyssa violet right after explore all these new points that were brought up maybe see where it leads you i think that could have been a lot more interesting and investigative than what we ended up seeing yeah this documentary i'm giving it a five out of ten maybe i should give it a four i'm gonna give it a four it's a four out of ten sorry shane hey let me tell you a secret i actually like this one i think that this is exactly the kind of stuff that shane excels at and it's no wonder the guy has so much experience making videos on conspiracies and all that kind of stuff i'm actually surprised they didn't make this kind of thing sooner that's not to say that this two-part series doesn't have its own setbacks uh it does but i'm gonna go over them a bit later okay you're just gonna have to wait tiny little bit maybe drink some freshly squeezed orange juice in the meantime i know i'm a big fan of a freshly squeezed orange juice so what are they doing this what is this about essentially shane and his ragtag team of other youtubers bring up a whole bunch of conspiracies and then either try to dig into them you know see if they're real or not they're sort of anything to be scared of or you know just talk about them if that's all there is to do the editing and pacing in this is honestly considerably better than most things we've talked about so far maybe because it's only three hours long which is kind of weird for me to say but you know that's better than trying to fill up eight hours i guess and also i think the conspiracies he talked about were actually kind of interesting even though that's not usually something that i'm too invested in there's a very long segment where he talks about child media and the way it portrays people ending their own lives and the sort of conspiracy that's going on about that is that it's done as a way of like population control it's this sort of like wild crazy thing that you'd kind of want from this kind of video and you get it even though i don't really believe in any of it another conspiracy i thought was pretty fun is that disney only made the movie frozen to hide search results for people who are looking up if walt disney's head is frozen it's just kind of funny stuff you know it's fun stuff um there are a lot of classic shane dawson bits of people just walking around in a house a lot of it it's just this group of growing ass people going around scaring themselves just assuming the worst about everything there's a bit where they hear this like static sound coming from this uh child social media game type thing and then shane dawson suggests that maybe this sound is actually a guy breathing into his mic while listening to us to me that kind of sounds a bit dumb i mean if he were this big bad creepy creepster why would you leave around a bunch of clues like that for people to find you out they also talk about a bunch of things that are just real but also bad like how because of apple's live mode feature when you turn on your camera it is essentially filming everything that's going on even when you don't want it to yeah that's not good but also not really a conspiracy another thing that i thought was a bit stupid is sort of their fixation on the whole uh chuck e cheese conspiracy if you don't know what this is uh it's this conspiracy that stems from the fact that the pizza slices in chuck e cheese are cut really horribly like all the slices are kind of uneven so this theory essentially suggests that chuck e cheese takes leftover pizza from people who ordered it to their tables and then just places it back so you can buy a pizza that was maybe touched by someone else or maybe like licked by someone else i don't know chuck e cheese had to release a statement being like hey uh listen we're not doing any of that we're a big company we can probably afford paying for fresh pizza by the way i should point out that all the good stuff i said about this series solely relates to the first episode in this two-parter if i'm honest i barely remember what happened in the second episode they spent about an hour and a half not doing anything it really made me zone out so because of that i think i'm just gonna score them separately first one gets a seven second one gets like a four let's go next series onwards we we move on if i'm honest this subject is something that i feel really uncomfortable talking about mainly because it's just something that i really don't know enough about to me it all just feels like this very delicate thing and i'm very terrified of saying anything that could be harmful in any way or maybe spread some kind of misinformation in any kind of way i even had this whole section fully edited but now i'm re-recording it just because of that this documentary is essentially about eugenia cooney's return both return to youtube and return to form most of the time on this is spent with shane talking to eugenia and interviewing her essentially seeing how she's doing at the moment at the beginning of this documentary uh shane speaks to katie morton remember her the the undercover diagnoser luckily this time though she doesn't do any undercover missions because that would be a [ __ ] disaster now from what i've seen uh eating disorders all that kind of area is very much part of her expertise so while talking to her she gives shane a few guidelines before he's gonna interview her later on in the video she tells him stuff like hey don't ask her what she's eating don't comment about her looks all this kind of stuff because again it's a very very delicate thing but then he goes on to break a bunch of these rules anyways now listen i don't want to stand on my high horse here say that i would have done this better or done that better because in reality i don't think that i would have i'm as not equipped to handle this kind of interview as shane and that's why my main take about this documentary is that i i just don't think that it should have been made shane you're not a professional you're not a therapist you're just a youtuber and yeah i think that shane had a lot of good intentions when making this i think that what he had in mind is that he could maybe help his friend by doing this by uplifting her and also at the same time bring light to this very very terrible issue but again i just don't think that this was something that he was really equipped to handle also this has another house tour so take a shot i think it's the last one though so you can kind of rest after this i take back what i said i was like oh this is going to be easy peasy it's not going to be that many house tours not that many shots but it was really a bit much so sorry about that i don't feel good about giving this one a score i don't know i'm just not gonna do that all i'll just say at the end of this is that i wish eugenia cooney the best she seems like a very very sweet person a very nice person at least from what i've i've seen in this documentary maybe she did something awful i'm not too up to date on all the youtube drama stuff but yeah she seems nice [Music] i wrote myself a bunch of notes when watching this and after watching this the first one is just boo yeah this really [ __ ] sucks i hate this it sucks it always sucked when it came out i really didn't like it and that was still once you know some people sort of liked shane dawson and i made a video about it and you know what i didn't really change my opinion since then even though it's been two years so i don't know i'm just gonna express them again deal with it this really really bored me i finished this and i felt like my part of my brain has died of boredom what is this documentary about what is a document what kind of question is it trying to answer what kind of conundrum is that place here well it doesn't answer anything it's just a [ __ ] ad it's a seven hour long seven part series ad ad ad okay no i'm sorry they are documenting something i think they're releasing some kind of makeup line a conspiracy themed makeup line and shane decides that he's gonna film the whole process for you to see so then you you see it and you're like wow all my favorite youtubers are talking about this makeup thing so now i'm gonna buy it and then after that when everyone buys it you can film himself going yay i have a bunch of new money now that's sick i'm now rich what a stupid pile of [ __ ] this thing really goes crazy on these kind of bombastic titles he has these bombastic titles like oh the ugly side of the beauty world or the dangerous world of jeffree star oh did you hear that you guys jeffree star he's leading a dangerous dangerous life uh as a makeup guru you know what uh let's click on this video i want to see how dangerous is jeffree star's a beautiful world oh it's just them sitting in a kitchen for 15 minutes you know how in all these documentaries shane is kind of trying to paint these youtubers in a certain positive light in the first jeffree star one he's like this guy who who struggled a lot to get to where he is started from the bottom now we're here and in the jake paul thing he's just like a misunderstood little boy and this one the angle that shane is trying to go for is that jeffree star is a genius the way that he portrays him as a genius is really really funny there are all these like kind of scenes where jeffree star is picking a bunch of colors for the makeup palette and everyone's like looking at him and ah whoa what is jeffree star doing whoa whoa [Music] [Music] i'm so turned on right now just like watching somebody like who knows what the [ __ ] they're doing these guys are so [ __ ] weird man it really reminds me of that one bit in community jeffrey is a genius he has to be if he isn't i've given almost two weeks of my life to an idiot that is unacceptable therefore jeffrey is a genius and i will die protecting his vision the editing in this thing is absolutely disastrous it's some of the worst editing i've ever seen in real really anything you wouldn't expect this coming from a guy who's been making videos for like over a decade but the editing in this really sucks a lot of it boils down to this decision that shane made in advance that this whole thing is going to be seven parts and each part is going to be an hour and then after he made that decision he's just like okay i need to fill this with a bunch of crap now so the way he does that is just with an insane use of flashbacks there's like a flashback every two seconds they're usually like in the same sort of locations as well so they might be walking down this makeup factory and then shane would say something and then it would cut again to another bit of them in the makeup factory when you watch that it's just so confusing like you don't really get what's happening in the now and what's happening in the in the flashback world and for me like when watching all of it my brain already turned into mush so it was really really hard to fully understand what's going on it's just like [ __ ] it's really [ __ ] at the end of the day this whole thing really [ __ ] sucks it makes me realize that a lot of these documentaries could have just been saved by a competent editor it really makes you understand the true importance of editing just well it's not like this thing is made for like tv where every episode needs to hit a certain length or like it's supposed to be a feature film so it needs to be at least i don't know an hour and 20 minutes long no it's a youtube video no one is making it make these videos in that length you could just cut all the [ __ ] and make it a you know a fun entertaining sort of series following you making all this makeup but instead it's just a bunch of flashbacks just a bunch of flashbacks it's all a bunch of flashbacks i'm giving it a two am i giving it a two i got it's not a one it's not that awful i don't think anything in this is a one i'm giving it a two yeah that's good the only note i wrote to myself when i finished watching this one is not really a documentary i feel dumb yeah it really is not a documentary and i do feel dumb for just watching the whole thing who can blame me i don't blame myself i'm okay with myself because i watched the first half of it and it was just again a bunch of people walking in shane dawson's house and i was like you know this is normal this is what i'm used to seeing and they're just like standing around talking about tick tock i think shane is like ah i don't get the the youth i don't think that's a direct quote but you know that's sort of the vibe you get he's like oh tick tock schmidt and they're talking about like charlie demilio and yeah it just felt normal half of these documentaries have just people standing around talking about random [ __ ] and then in the second half i started to realize that it's it's just like an update video and he's like hey i just i haven't uploaded in a very long time sorry about that i'm shane dawson and then he starts telling us about like this ghost that he's been seeing in his house and like his uh mother saw it as well and that's sort of it oh he also said that he's making like a horror movie that's gonna include this uh demon that's in his house i guess if that ever happens i'll make a video about that i think we all know that that's gonna happen pros i like the thumbnail and i guess the ghost stories are kind of fun con it's it's not really documentary and it's not even trying to be i'm just a bit of an idiot where am i i'm not sure you know what actually don't give a crap because we've now reached the moment you've all been waiting for it you've waited for this for so long and now we're here it's scoring time baby let's go so these are the scores that we got for each one tanacon seven jeffree star thing number one give it a five jake paul series i gave that one a four first conspiracy episode gave that a seven enjoyed that quite a bit second conspiracy episode didn't really enjoy that one at all gave that a four and then lastly i gave the second jeffree star series a two simply because it's one of the most boring things i've ever seen in my whole life now we're gonna take all of them put them in the the averaging box we're gonna average everything up do a little bit of maths so the average score of all these shane dawson documentaries is drumroll please it's a 4.83 it's a 4.83 a classic 4.83 now i could be nice i could round it up to about a five but actually i'm gonna go ahead and do the complete opposite to that i'm gonna round it down to a four because if i'm honest and reading all these scores now i feel like i've been way too generous in this i i gave two of these series here a seven i'm not even sure if i enjoyed them to that extent the tanacon series specifically that that's not a seven even if the first two episodes are good the last one really really sucks also i i've spent way too much time on this video to just finish it off with a conclusion that ah whatever these documentaries they're just kind of average no you know what they're a bit below average and that's it i haven't uploaded in a full month for christ's sake that's insane i'm really sorry about that so much has been going on my life bad stuff good stuff medium stuff and coincidentally i decided to take on this big project of a video at the same time which was really unlucky and it makes me kind of upset i don't like it when i don't upload for a long time it really unsettles me for some reason but hey i'm back now i'm uploading weekly again so i don't know please comment something on this video like it do anything to feed the algorithm it doesn't like what i don't upload for that long i don't want to displease it i'll see all of you guys in a week from today in a brand new video about mister also if you reach this point in the video make sure to include the word world in your comment shane dawson really likes that one adios guys see you in a week love you goodbye [Music] you
