Maybe it's because I was born in the 80s but I don't care how crazy he is, I am a sucker for Tom Cruise films.

I wouldn't care at all about this interview except for the fact that they're both having so much fun. Like, this guy is an excited, big big, well informed fan and Tom Cruise is there for that. So much fun.

[Music] of all the films of yours that I've watched too much and there are many of your movies that I watched too much thank you I think Jerry Maguire is possibly number one in the watch too much takes my favorite line from that film is that bathroom scene you don't know what it's like to be me out here for you it is an up at dawn price swallowing siege that I will never fully tell you about I knows that in my life it's all the time Cameron Crowe that writing and when you get angry in that scene it makes me laugh out yes help me help me every time I can tell I'm getting too angry to the situation I think about going just kissed your body just he's just getting zero is just getting crushed it's it's said he laughs in his face and everything's fine I'm never gonna ask you to skin I'm just asking now how on earth did Les Grossman happen it was one of those moments you know I've known been for many years and we were watching a film and I said what are you working is his homework in this film Tropic Thunder and he said look would you mind reading the script and you know I'd like to talk to you about it so I said okay I read the script and he had all the characters but the studio wasn't there there was a structural compression missing down on those characters you know with that that keeps the pressure on these guys that really makes drives the story call it I was like you need the studio so he came back like a few weeks later and I started reading I read this character and I went okay I said this is fun I said do you mind Ben I want to play this character I said I want to have fat hands and I want to dance and he looked at me he's like what what I riverbed I said no no man I said I want bad hands and I'm gonna dance are you sure you can't just be you like look like you and you I said no no man I'm sorry I don't know how else to play this character so then I did the makeup test we've tested the fat hands you know and the whole look and so we're doing the wardrobe and there was no music playing Ben and I and I said look let me just I want to do some moves for you you know so I just started I just started like working you know unless you know just kind of moving like that one good welcome to the goodie room he just called me and it was he was laughing he like he picked the music out he added this thing together he was just pissing himself and he sent it to me as I go can I get it I get it [Applause] [Music] anyway a copy of classes Civil Air Patrol piled like you shouldn't be flying busted haven't you ever wanted something more Barry you should be serving your country hey Barry sale has one heck of a Wikipedia entry less let's say that it's wild this is one of those films that you watch jewel was quite close to the floor and afterwards you go I have to look this up can I just tell you this guy this I don't only what did you cut out because there's stuff that's in books about him that you didn't put in the film I think cuz it was too unbelievable just you can't put it all in their guns some of the stuff I just went come on come on I thought we were cutting that out I don't say it's okay let's go let's go so he's gonna fly of Louisiana and just drop bags of cocaine with life jackets on them it's he invented it he came up with the door he called it his milk the million dollar door but it did it and it was I kid he came up with his whole life preserved and he ended up working for with it CIA FBI DEA DEA the White House yes and the Colombian cartel yeah and it was just going back and forth um wild what I'm saying is watch the film and just you'll be on Wikipedia or I promise so at the end of this we tend to just go through a series of kind of more generalized questions bit more quick fun but some of them gonna be a bit tougher for you actually what is your favorite fight sequence oh that's a good question oh yeah Reacher's fun fights it was the one in the bathroom definitely I like to fight with Russell in the mummy I've known each other over 20 years we've talked about working together and now we're gonna do this very cool final loss samurai selfie yeah listen I spent a year training for last entry about five hours a day to be able to handle that sword and and in and and do that I was a beautiful time did charge all of that when you look at Last Samurai everything is in camera is one of the last films where you have massive crowd scenes that are in camera I'd like to point out to you that I think you may have the best tagline for anything better than even aliens vs. predator whoever wins we lose and the best is cocktails when he pause he reigns cheers I know whoever came up with that was like you were like can I give myself a bonus yeah yeah I'm taking the day off guys funny you have so many discussions about titles of the movie and taglines and Rain Man is another one oh yeah really can't we figure out a better title for the movie than Rain Man okay that's so funny cuz in my head I'm like that's one of the best titles for anything but when we came out is like how are we gonna sell that Rain Man what's it mean you know we'd be in marketing maybe they go what's it mean well you've got to see the movie it was like but how do we sell that it's like well I don't know that's your job we make the movie the tagline is gonna be it's good it's definitely did definitely good it's gonna get on twenty definitely $3,000 on 20 definitely definitely this is about a tough question but what is your favorite film ever that is impossible it is people so that is an impossible question because it depends on what mood I'm in I've seen somebody films that have inspired me let's rephrase it yeah it's the day after Christmas Day you just want to sit down relax Sunday afternoon type movie just makes you feel good comfortable sometimes I'll watch a movie just to watch a scene yes or mccrory will be over and we'll just throw on you know Once Upon a Time in the West and watch the first 20 minutes just to see and look at and go how did he think of this it happened one night you know where you're looking at it or you might just take some scenes from the general you know Sherlock Holmes that Buster Keaton did that bicycle sequence how he puts the outfit on and jumps in what do you like just Charlie Chaplin's like holding you'll TV going thank you you know William Wyler you know funny girl hello gorgeous singing in the rain [Music] those are films that all of them have had a tremendous influence on my career you know singing the rain really helped to define for me and remind me of motion and storytelling what you can accomplish with action or with a musical a song I mean with action and motion you can bring boy-girl together or separate them you know I make my crews watch specific films sometimes is where you know I'm working on things and I'll be like you've got to watch this musical and my stunt team would be limpid what it's you've got to watch this musical I want you to understand what I'm trying to do with this scene it's not just about action and so those things that that always amazed me about cinema and you know that's why I love that's why I love movies [Music]
