I Took Her Flying On The Beach!!!

flying tandems is one of my favorite things ever this sport is so much fun and being able to take a passenger up and share the experience with them brings it to the next level so while i was down in florida my good friend melissa hit me up with an idea she said let's go on a tandem but let's do it on the beach i said that sounds amazing let me figure out how to do this and let's make it happen because we're doing it on the beach we can't use a trike now trikes make tandems easy we have to do a foot launch which is more challenging i didn't have any tandem gear with me so i went into aviator paramotor raided their closet stole a 30 meter mojo which isn't even a tandem wing and some spreader bars not to worry though our combined weights did not exceed the max loading of the 30 meter mojo so i set off to the beach made a plan met with melissa and did my very first foot launch beach tandem [Music] see what we got on the diesel pump today 125 and she's still not full 140 phillip i think that's got to be a new record welcome back to another adventure i'm driving around florida currently in the toy hauler so far while we're down here we've done an epic video in the keys and we've done a attempted cross country across the state of florida if you missed those videos make sure you check them out but today i have a different mission we're at the beach and i'm gonna go test the air and check it out but i have a friend on the way and i'm gonna try to do something i've never done before which is a foot launch beach tandem a couple factors at play they're saying there might be thunderstorms this afternoon by the time she gets here and the winds are supposed to die off now when you're flying at the beach you want a decent amount of wind because the wind's always smooth and it makes the launches super easy and especially the fact that we're doing a tandem i want the wind to be high but it's supposed to drop off so we'll see how that goes but yeah beautiful day i'm gonna go test the air and hopefully by the end of this video we have a successful beach tandem [Music] so i headed down to the beach with my solo setup to test the air the main thing i was looking for was one that there weren't any thunderstorms on the horizon and two that the winds were strong enough to allow us an easy take off [Music] [Music] conditions are absolutely perfect look at this zero step launch that's what we need baby [Music] so after i confirmed that the conditions were ideal i told some out of contact stories that didn't make the cut but i was like god damn this woman's creepy as i'm a young man i don't want to have fun with a senior citizen then i did a couple celebratory bell rolls and came in for a landing so i could cook some lunch in the camper [Music] [Music] camping hack one of my favorite meals to make while in the camper is bertolli pasta things super easy you just throw in a pan minimal dishes very delicious [Music] so shortly thereafter melissa arrived ready and stoked for the tandem flight by the way if you're not already follow me on instagram tucker got for clips like these before they make it to youtube i have a rape whistle in case you do anything crazy okay so here starts our process so i'm going to take these from you you can turn around and we're going to clip you in are you flirting okay that's perfect now we're gonna step back just a little bit and then i'm gonna bend over and try not to whack you in the head so just go with me thank you that that put this in there and then a step to the right and rotate right just a little bit more perfect i wish those ladies would move a little bit but we can just kick them in the head okay i'm gonna fire up the engine and then we'll go for the inflation okay so we're gonna take this nice and slow if anything looks weird we'll just abort okay so we're gonna step uh back into the left to put tension in the lines and inflate the glider come with me come with me just follow there you go perfect now we'll stabilize yep nope just stay like that you're perfect hands-free all right now we're good okay nope hands-free okay so we're gonna rotate 180 you ready to the left like that all right perfect now we're just gonna stabilize everything looks good you ready for liftoff and we're gonna run in three two one perfect comfortable we're on this that guy wing oh yeah this is epic yeah i was gonna say a little big mansion so jeff and i were flying on this beach once it went really really far to the north and all of a sudden we realized everyone was naked they were like oh this is a nude beach this guy to our right has a spot out hey bill nice weather eh he's like i love retirement martha look alive she has earbuds in that's why i wonder like you're sitting a little lower than me if we could touch the water oh let's see our feet are at about the same point so if i feel the water you'll feel the water we're gonna try see how steady the winds are just try to touch your toe on the water tell me if you touch it nailed it i'm going to try to get my selfie stick out which side is the good side left side is that for real why do girls always have that do i have a good side my backside damn you're good you trying to flirt again okay something the thing is i can't hold it on my left side because that's my throttle side so if you want to wave it around a bit that would be rad no you might just kill martha and her dog down on the beach oh the boom oh hi what's up so excited she's wasted do you want to fly can you reach so where you have them right there is perfect like normal flying you just kind of want the tension out of the lines um so you're taking up the slack and then let's do a left 180 and we'll hold it for a little bit and fly that direction so just dip keep pulling keep pulling right there and everything yep so everything you um you add your feedback nice and slow and you give it back nice and slow if you drop it too fast then we'll start like swinging so that was perfect and we're kind of getting pushed back which is good so let's swing back 180 to the right yep should just pull and hold right a there bit more perfect no you're perfect that was beautiful look at those birds they're they're playing chicken do you want to try a touch ago okay so you can slide out right here i'm going to do the same we're gonna dangle and we're gonna so gracefully we don't even need to like take a step there we go and then we just hover here kite our wing you ready to take off again all right three two one that was perfect do you have your phone accessible do you mind if i borrow it to check our fuel level i promise i won't drop it you don't care oh yeah we still got plenty tell me if this makes you feel weird nope just a little pitch oscillations how do you feel about coming in for a landing all right so we're gonna get our angle you can slip out now i'm gonna take us a little farther so we have room to drop the wing stop right there motor's off okay so we're gonna spin to the right perfect and i'm to cut the wing down like this and pull pull against it and walk towards it yeah come with me nope you're perfect and [Music] that's exactly what we wanted perfect if you're already out yeah you can step right out oh thanks [Music] so that tandem flight went extremely well i'm super stoked we pulled it off now before we go
