I stayed in EXTREME accommodation on the Everest Base Camp Trek

let me start off by saying congrats if you're watching this video you're probably crazy or brave enough to embark on the epic adventure that is the Everest base camp trek get for you if you're watching this video for any other reason prefer to be convinced never to take the effort base camp trek ever but that's it for the preamble I promise to show you what to expect of the lodges along the Everest base camp trail so let's get going along the route which spans 65 kilometers and takes you to an altitude of over 5300 meters you're abound to stay at one of these lodges for probably several unless you have unlimited funds on your bank account you'll probably experience the relatively basic kind just like them rims their primary function here in the lodges is to give you shelter and that's pretty much it so don't expect too much here's one of them the basic system here's the room itself this is pretty much the standard that you get across the entire Everest base camp trail you can probably get raised more fancy than vests but you'll be paying much much more so here's what you get in the standard lottery you got beds obviously a very important feature cushions you get blankets or do base these are very very fancy nice pick to base oh you also get it's a lovely window with some curtains and a bit of a view and there is light as you probably noticed there are no radiators anywhere here and yes in fact these rooms are not heated that's why it's really important to bring a really really thick sleeping bag just to make sure you don't freeze in your sleep temperatures go down to minus 5 minus 10 minus 10 degrees Celsius [Music] fine so the rims are relatively simple but there is another piece of very important real estate that we should talk about bathrooms hmm pretty much every trekker will tell you that's one of their biggest issues ahead of it the bathroom situation is just not easy it's just not perfect on the track but it's doable okay so tip number one make sure that you bring enough toilet paper to last you for two weeks you know things happen along the track tip to just like get rid of all of your mental preconceptions about toilets that you've ever had in your life and accept the status quo of what happens here in our current Lodge we have three options for bathrooms I'm gonna start with the one that I would probably describe as the one star option by the way it's outside [Music] yep it's a hole in the ground [Music] this one is kind of outside kind of inside that's what the three star option [Music] it's also a hole in the ground onto option number three which I call the five-star option [Music] yeah it's an actual toilet it's pretty luxurious honestly for this region it's even got a flush yeah that's pretty amazing just make sure that you don't put the paper inside the toilets because they don't actually properly flush and when you're done you just wash your hands end is beautiful sink will extremely cold water that's the bathrooms it's a simple factor of the Everest base camp trek that you just cannot bring all of your clean clothes with you at some point you're gonna have to do some laundry well unless you hire countless porters and bring along your washing machines it just doesn't work that way so here's what you do get some laundry get a bar of soap go outside find a bucket just get ready for a bit of code [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you can take hot showers in the mountains here putting money and the hot waters compared to the freezing outside now it's just maybe not so good for you so you can actually take a quick outside [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you one of my favorite things about the lodges of the trail are the common rooms for the dining rooms it's going [Music] they're usually big enough to host all the guests staying up the load at the same time for dinner lunch and they have this one amazing feature that everybody gathers around in the evenings this one it looks simple but the heater generates that night is just amazing it's exactly what you need after a long day of trekking all right let's have some proper large food down guard [Music] Dalbert is one of Nepal's most popular dishes for a reason you can basically get infinite refills on any of the components of the dish including the delicious down which is plenty [Music] I am I forgot to mention oh yeah I forgot to mention that in those lodgers there is no reception their unit electricity very little Wi-Fi so make sure you bring a four-wheeler and a lot of them [Music] [Music] fine so there's nothing resembling luxury here no Hilton quality no Michelin star cuisine so why the hell would you even stay here to be honest when you ate not to use [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
