Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
What the fuck buzzfeed? 70 miles a week IN 10 WEEKS?! PEAKING AT 70?! 10 WEEKS?! I'm postitve buzzfeed fakes some of those videos. It's irresponsible to fool the public into thinking this is an appropriate way to train for a marathon. Also, I really doubt that dude qualified for boston in his first try. Buzzfeed is the website version of that guy who can't stop lying about the fabulous shit he's done.
I hate this video. Aside from the ridiculous training program, she obviously has natural running talent, and not everyone could do what she did.
The fact that she didn't get injured is probably the biggest thing I took away from this video. She said that she hadn't run more than 3 miles before but the first week of her training plan had her going at 45 miles. 45 MILES!!!! I've been slowly building up my mileage since January and I still haven't hit that kind of mileage in fear of getting injured.
Professional cyclist, get's a trainer (wearing a newsboy hat), stops eating cookies, and increases her miles super fast to run a marathon. Then cries and says she never does anything for herself. Ugh.
Professional Cyclist. and Youtuber.
This type of crazy training should not be promoted but there is a chance she isn't lying. Yes, she claims her longest run was 3 miles and her first week started at 45 miles per week which seems like shenanigans. The video doesn't give detailed info on her fitness (it does show kickboxing & aerobatics). If someone is a hardcore cyclist, swimmer or doing spin class every day then they might have a chance at starting at that high mileage. It isn't the smartest idea but it could happen. The video also does not talk about how she felt the next day. I wouldn't be surprised if she had some serious physical issues.
Good luck growing back toenails because you choose a crazy training plan.
When I trained for my first marathon I started with 15 to 20 miles per week total and gradually built to a peak week of 35 to 40 miles.
I'm calling bullshit. I couldn't make it through the whole video.
Murph needs to investigate this.
I turned off the video after the half marathon. Seriously, 1:37? After a few weeks of training?
