B okay dropping in little help I'm stuck I'm stuck oh no he's packing oh no oh no and welcome all my fishy friends to another stay fishy Advent Ure today's a snow one we've gone from the depths of Chile in the beautiful summertime to uh some crazy winter camping and all that stuff and now we're finally in the white stuff we are in Les no in a beautiful place mean little are back for another catch and cook another day of Adventure and another fun day of living an amazing life so stick around let's go have some fun so first order of business today is to make a little snow trail for some of you out there uh I'm sure you don't know cuz I've never talked about it I'm an avid snowboarder I've snowboarded my whole life actually grew up on Mount Hood in Oregon and right behind us is one of the only volcanoes in the lower 48 states has erupted in the last 40 years it's a incredible place I like to spend time absolutely beautiful mountain it's beautiful country and I couldn't think of a better place to spend a snow day with my dog with my dog Wile he's got his Big Beaver Paws out oh Jesus I brought my my shovel and I'm going to dig out a little cooking area uh so we can do this recipe that we're going to do at the beginning of the of the video here so without further Ado let's get to digging so the idea here is I'm going to basically make a bench I'm going to kind of draw this out for you guys I'm thinking bench area here we'll have a nice little little cooking Square here you going to be our cooking area we're going to dig this part out this is going to be our Hollow area have a wall here wall here and uh pretty much just a super Chill Spot to be hanging out on the mountain today let's get to [Music] digging okay we are in our hole we are in the hole here's outside the hole we're in the hole but in a good way in a good way we're going to work on our sitting area nice lar support back in the day when we up snowboarding every day as our troubled youth we used to make these little snow Hangouts in the mountain in the trees we'd find these little areas outside of the runs where we'd all dip off and be able to hang out and rest and relax and uh have a good time up there snowboarding on the mountain so this is snowboarding in steel Hood Camp inspired we got our Lomar support our our chair is pretty much done might have to shorten up the legs a little bit our chill area is all right I'm going to make a little little nightstand over here in my cooking area right here with the beautiful mountain in the background for the record everyone if you want to do this correctly use a square nose shovel not a spade cuz that does not work that good just saying but Jordan's forgotten item of the week is a snow shovel not really easy snow to work with it's awfully cold I think it's getting super like below freezing by a lot up here the last couple days so this snow is still awfully powdery but that's okay got my handy dandy cutting bird we're looking pretty good we all know we better sit down here great Longo support great what oh I never pressed play well I didn't film I just heard my GoPro go off behind me and I didn't film the time lapse so sorry about that everybody guess we're going to have to do this again sometime but that was a cool time lapse hey anyways lombar support's good Little's got a nest built back there already dug out his own little Nest that a good Nest okay so it's time to get our cooking method uh made actually and so since we're in a commemorative spot of our first day fishy the actual original state fishy that we made for the first one uh we made up on the Northern peninsula of Washington on some tribal ground and we were still fishing and cooking with the same method so it's kind of a commemorative episode to begin with and actually what happened to that episode the struggles of of YouTube the hard drive that we put that one on got corrupt and you guys never get to see it I never even got to see it so this ended up being our first day fishy ever and we're back again to fish or to use to fish of course but to use the same method we originally tried to put on the first episode and that is this right here wood that doesn't make any sense and I'm about to show you but what we're going to do is make a swedish torch everybody and if you've never heard of one of these it's a really cool way to cook it doesn't leave any ashes it doesn't leave the the mess of a fire behind especially in a special area like this and so what I'm going to do is use the benefits of offgrid living uh in this 21 Cent In This electric power tools inside of a hand crank so let's make our cooking utensil so first things first I need to check about how deep that bit is I got a 3/4 in whole bit so I can go down to about here with my hole my first one I'm going to put right in the dead center of the top of this make sure I'm centered nice dry piece of firewood it's what you're really going to need well funny thing about technology is sometimes batteries die so we're going with a little more medieval techniques now but we can still make the same idea I got my two holes started I got my hole drilled up top ho drilled in the bottom normally you'd bring a hand drill or the way they do it on all the other YouTube videos is a hand drill but apparently we weren't out smarting them today but I'm going to see if I can bust this thing up in four pieces one here one here and still Start the Fire down in there the same and get that same torch te that same torch torch method so let's see there one you know even just that might work yeah I think we're going to go with that we're going to go with that put a little bit of spacer in there there we go I'm going to go grab a little sapling some wet bark and uh a little Spruce bow for spreading around some of our cooking materials so I got the split I think all I'm going to do is let the snow take care of it all I really need is this little pocket to start burning it'll filter the air out these two sides and then I have a special thing I'm going to be actually cooking on top of today so this will be kind of fun for all of us done with the AXS let's get our fire started okay I got a piece of fatwood that I'm going to start this with this is a very easy method of getting a fire going definely you don't have a lighter you have one on you okay now we have a lighter here we go so going start with a little pie first beautiful part of this pitchwood is it has a ton of sap in it you guys have seen me use it plenty of times out here just lean it over here so it keeps burning get this other piece chopped up a little bit smaller and we're going to let nature do its thing I got some flame going we let that just keep cooking hotter and hotter I'm going to kind of tend to this first for a little bit before it turn away I want this really good flame going out of here I might actually want to scared to touch it but yeah I'm not going to touch it the wind is coming from in front of us here directly you can see the way the Smoke's going so I want that that air to be able to go through this little chamber here but I'm sure it's catching a little bit whether it be on this side or the other looks like we got some burnage going so I'm not going to touch it yep that right there baby that's an elk roast from an elk I killed uh two years ago I think it's a hind quarter might be a ham I don't know an elk ham got uh some of the homemade ponac here that we're going to season it with as well as some of the hippie Cowboy seasoning what's in the bag we'll never know soon to come to a store near you and to an addicted website near you so it's time to get this stuff cut up let's get this prepped our fire is trying to go but I think with enough time a little bit of patience we'll enjoy this view a little bit get everything ready to go and it's going to taste good there we have it less smoke more fire that's it's looking good it's looking really [Music] good okay so as you would imagine we're going rade man with this we are cooking on some freaking rocks we done this one other time on a state fishy I believe it was it wasn't the oldest St fish that we ever made um but it's pretty close it's back there somewhere in the in the binds of time G clean this bad boy off heat it up a little oh we got some good flame going now everyone oh we got some Camp robbers in Camp you guys we got Camp robbers we over here fighting over stuff I bet I can get them to take a cracker out of my hand give them time to come back get to know us a little bit here I am starving eating crackers in the midst of crackers trying to feed the birds Karma everyone it's karma all right well our torch is burning hard so let's get our stuff on the on the cooking route got this fairly clean I'm try to heat it up a little bit more what I'm worried about this rock that I've chosen might be a little bit cracky and Poppy but hopefully it's it uh stands up to the heat it doesn't explode we got our safety glasses on safety glasses everybody that's what these are they're not for looking good they're for safety okay so what I'm going to do here I'm going to stick one piece of wood over here one over here and hopefully that will be enough of a vent to allow that flame to keep burning yeah we're looking really good this is going to work all right so as I said today on the menu this this beautiful elk roast I don't think we're going to use it all but we're going to take a couple nice cuts from it I had this saved uh for a special occasion much like this one um and today is the day we bust into it my first cut that one's Littles I'm going to go pretty thin on these cuz we don't have a ton of a heat but look how amazing that meat looks what an incredible color two three my little little piece and four should be perfect for a nice little afternoon snack couple little pieces I'm going to do now is take my ponac which is an Elderberry vinegar um remedy I guess you guys ferment this for a couple of months and it comes out looking beautiful like this and has a very very similar Taste of worrier sauce look at how gorgeous that is so I'm going to roll these around a little bit get can marinate and it's best to leave um your elk steaks or any kind of steak whether and if you guys can find pwn TCT there's not many places online I think we're actually uh trying to design something similar with one of our proud Partners I'm not going to give too much away with that but we have this really nice marinade now it has a nice um holesome like meaty flavor I mean it it really smells a lot a lot like wora shirts it was like the original style of wor shirt that was made hundreds and hundreds of years ago in Europe so let's go ahead and put some of the hiy cowboy on which is a secret recipe you guys do not know this one there we go looking good not going to go super crazy this isn't a very high salt seasoning to begin with so going to keep that pretty light dosage get it mixed up and look at that we got a couple delicious looking steaks okay wash your hands in the snow let's get the other part prepped okay we're drying out we're drying out we're getting heat it's not ooh that is pretty hot pretty much all I'm going to do and I'm really excited deed to get this Smoky flavor from this piece of Alder that we're using um but I'm going to wait for this rock to heat up enough I don't think that's going to be Sizzle worthy yet we definitely got the smoke going though that's for sure it follows Beauty I just changed sides okay let's take one more look so what we're going to do today too is we're going to finish this with a little bit of the Alaska pure SE salt Co we got that up in sick Alaska when we filming an Addicted movie and actually just got word in the last couple of days that we're we are headed back for our second Addicted movie in Alaska so hopefully you'll be seeing some stay fishies from siik Alaska I know my man taku really likes to go up there um so maybe we'll have to meat him up there even let's hear some comments about taku miss you man okay we're almost ready going to go ahead and just set my butter on there get that melting shelting and then I'm going to use this little Spruce Bell little Spruce oh look we got Sizzle we got Sizzle it's working now I'm going to admit straight up you guys I don't I don't often cook on rocks believe it or not if you guys have seen over the years not too many Rock Cooks but today I'm kind of excited to be doing it oh we got the sizzle we got the steak we got the steak and we got the sizzle steak Sizzle okay got some Sizzle going got some hot rock I'm actually going to kind of rub this around with the spruce bowel normally people use um I've seen people use rosemary and stuff but I think having a little bit of natural spru with the natural element of the elk I think that's probably my favorite part about eating elk and uh killing them to be honest is being able to come back out sorry Dro you guys is being able to come back out and enjoy it um in the place where that that animal was or maybe even where that animal died kind of like paying your respects a little bit bringing it back home maybe it'll even poop it out in the woods and life will go around full circle look how good our fire is going now this is working this is working okay might be ready for some steaks sizzle [Music] here we go we're cooking we're cooking with rocks and fire ug ug ug ug take a moment to admire the L cutest guy in this mountain range right here cutest good boy you got a snack coming don't worry got a little snack coming here's your main Nest should settle down in your main Nest oh gosh oh gosh things are happening over here oh my god what have of beautiful things okay here comes comes the flip I like a nice rare elk steak myself so I'm not going to go crazy I'm not going to go crazy on overcooking these bad boys oo that sounds good switch them around actually a little bit okay we got a little blood coming out the opposite side that's done enough for me again I like a rare elk steak it's kind of the only way to eat it in my opinion overcooking this stuff is I think a disrespectful move to the to the elk itself it should be enjoyed it's a little bit of the blood little bit of the blood that one looks way more up my alley right thereo it's hot wow I'm going to stack them and rack them everyone all the juices all the tenderness all the love of Mother Nature enough said wow look at how beautiful this looks especially in the snow with this View nothing like a good day in the mountains beautiful day to be alive need the Creator for that meal well I'm a fat kid I couldn't help myself I'm having to cook more and I just realized that I killed that entire four pieces without my finishing salt I think this is really what tops it off so okay flip number two guys this is fun sometimes unnecessary Bushcraft is a good time especially when you do it in a place like this on a day like today once again I want to say kind of cuz we're commemorating a first episode thank you all so much for being along for this incredible ride so far you know the last few years addicted and uh here on stay fishy has been a a blessing and a dream come true there's been our Hard Times there's been our our good times but you know what we've all been here together and we've made it we've made it back to the same Mountain once again kind of a reunion of sorts what way to do it too Swedish torch such an awesome freaking day and it's just getting better onto our next adventure after we Munch out on this last little piece of steak um obviously we're going fishing let's Bunch down let's head to the river okay this time we're going to do the same slices yeah baby this one's even better did this even nicer nice and rare but before we go any further we are going to open up our finishing salt grab a little finger we're going to hit it pretty heavy cuz really really that's the beauty that's why I made or a hippie Cowboy blend of seasonings the way I did is really because I made a very low sodium so that I could use oh my God I could die right here and be happy the reason I made the hippie cowboy and the animal style so low sodium is so I could enjoy a really good finishing salts like this and so that you could utilize the seasoning correctly um and put quite a bit of it on without ruining your dish so look at that it went from that to that I can't I just can't eat guys good B J shot nice catch okay let's go fishing all right I'm not going to lie to you guys we cooked the whole roast good out myself fat kiding out okay now let's go [Music] fishing went from snow beanies and free freezing our butts off there eating an amazing meal came downhill a little bit further sledding down the hill pretty much and uh now we're at the river let's grab the fly rod that's right we're doing some swinging you two are staying sorry kids we got Sexy Lexi on there we got the sexy Ginge in the Hat let's get out of here oh what a lovely day in the woods little hey lovely day to be alive so crazy this time here I love this late winter early spring weather where you come down on the lowlands near the river and it's freaking 50° and sunny you go up high it's still 28° and snowing you got all the snow pack you got fresh water in the rivers and you got stuff like this waiting for you around every corner oh this is good yeah we're living now log dog we got log dog there we go making our way okay big leap quick oh wow look at this place beautiful just what we came for that's a nice looking hole looks like we even got Fresh Tracks today nobody's been here yet H I might be wrong probably wrong but that's okay they don't have the sexy ginger fly or Sexy Lexi okay here we go so another Jordan's forgotten item of the day everybody today was my uh entire tackle bag I left at my buddy Jason's truck so at least we didn't forget anything for the meal we did pretty good on that end today I'm proud of myself but we have this fly we have this fly and that's it we don't have any other gear so I'm going to give it a good challenge you guys I'm going to put in the work you guys have seen me fortunately catch some of my favorite fish I've ever caught on here uh on St fishy on the Fly rout so as it's a commemorative video Let's commemorate it by catching us a freaking fish let's get out there it's bright out here though it's sunglass time let's sunglass up oh we're looking good rule number one's accomplished that that isy okay because it's so sunny today I'm going to switch it up to the sexy Ginge got to just it just seems right just seems right tell me a little repola not ready to go um but really really the reason I'm using this it's got a minimal flash it's got a black and and a red presentation it's kind of that dual contrast almost like a almost like a night mirish kind of presentation if you will and it's got a nice bead head on it so I think that's going to catch a fish okay it's time to go to go all the way up to the head of hole here so I really don't miss any don't want to miss any of the hole it's all we got it's all we got to play with today but right here in front of us this feels right this just feels right feels really really right right now got beautiful beautiful watercolor I know there's steel head in here here it's been a pretty good steel head year so far in the Pacific Northwest have to say that's been a a highlight um so far since I've been home from Chile we had a really good steel Hood fishing so if you haven't got a chance to see a lot of that go check it out on the addicted YouTube channel usually here on state fish we try not to make it too much about fishing cuz there's more to life than fishing some might argue that but personally I think it's pretty darn fun getting to enjoy everything when you're out here so that's just me I you was of nature you flew away oh that's just too good too good to be true I love spots like this where you get this nice really soft inside current so it's called I call them autom Menders Bally the outside current's going faster than the inside you really don't even have to mend your line which means lifting your line up and laying it back down the water you can just swing or across just Swang dangle and somewhere in there your line just goes swin and your dreams come true damn damn Gina oh oh got hit on this got hit oh on the pull back in oh I got him I got him oh that's a fish that's a fish that's a fish of some kind looks like a Cutthroat or something but I was just starting to strip my thing back in there just starting to strip my my fly back in and this little guy came and smashed it oh what is it what do we got here oh it's a Whitey Whitey ate it the Whitey wanted the bead oh boy well that is a fish for today I don't care what anybody says white fish or not we got him whoa whoa whoa he's a slippery guy look at him look at him where a be where a but Clark nice little white fish hey it wiggled it's ours he's gone now and we caught a fish today but we're not done yet that one definitely doesn't count we're looking for M much bigger much more aggressive than that I the heaven was a det [Music] well like magic the scene this changed we go from a spay Rod to the trout rod in the kayak and you know why cuz this video is over everyone no fish today but an amazing experience up on the mountain I love enjoying a spring day like today and cooking in a new way um honestly I think that rock made that steak taste so much better and I'm so excited to get these seasoning to you guys these seasonings that we're developing are uh something we're going to be releasing with addicted fishing um hopefully they'll be coming out soon be on the lookout for them we will definitely be doing announcements here on stay fishy but right now we were actually out in Central Oregon out joining my friend Nasty Nate on another adventure so that's what you guys can expect next week until then you all stay fishy thank you all so much for being here and we'll see you out [Music] there [Music] a
