what is up ladies and gentlemen it is Dan the bug man here back with another episode and we're going to be servicing on my fancy tablet here I have nine jobs for a grand total of only five hundred and five dollars and if you've watched any of my other videos this is much smaller than my other Grand totals so we're not making that much money today but it's really not about the money guys it's really just about having fun getting out here and Exterminating some bugs and I'm totally kidding it is all about the money this is a business but hey some days you make a lot of money and some days you don't make a lot of money and today is one of those days but we've actually got a jam-packed day I'm doing mosquito jobs I'm doing general pest preventative sprays I've got a brown recluse service everyone loves brown recluse Services I'm gonna check out some roaches we're gonna spray some wasp nests and as always there's really just no telling what we're going to run into today I hope everyone is ready for a fun pest-filled day of Exterminating bugs so let's go ahead and get started we we are going to go to our first job now this is a mosquito service good morning my name is Daniel I'm with Toby's I'm here to do the mosquito spray perfect I'll get it take care of thanks thank you the grand total for today's service is 49 as you guys know when we do mosquito Services I just mix up our insecticide with water and this still Backpack Blower and it does a really really good job and basically I just go around the yard and treat all the grass all the bushes and around the backyard area and it takes me about 15 minutes to do this service you guys ever get that feeling that you're being watched so once I finish up with that mosquito spray then I come back to the truck and I fill out the paperwork but it's not actually paperwork it's it's internet paperwork so guys this next job we're headed to might be the most exciting of the day it is a brown recluse service follow-up visit so what a follow-up means is that we've already been there once we were there about three or four weeks ago and we did an initial service for brown recluse spiders and during the service the spiders were so bad we did recommend doing a follow-up spray so that's what I'm going to be doing today let's go ahead and go inside and see what this customer has to say and let's see how the spiders are looking so I was able to find a live brown recluse spider to show you guys there's one just chilling here on the wall and see how it's just literally not moving at all even though I'm right in its face talking and it's got a big light shining on it that is the nature of these spiders and that is one reason why they're so hard to kill is because they just sit and wait for their prey to come come to them and that's actually not a full-grown brown recluse it's just a baby and yeah so that's just to show you that this house definitely has them I haven't seen any other live ones besides that one thankfully it looks like the spray we did last time is helping a lot I'm going to go ahead and give it a little squirt of some Gatorade that definitely didn't kill it instantly but it'll be dead soon it's kind of just like curled up because it thinks it's wet yeah I'll get it it'll be dead soon though because most of that spray is actually water and then it's got the chemical concentrate so it's not super strong like it's just gonna knock it out but it's probably starting to feel it right about now and it'll be dead in just a few minutes so I was actually the last one here on this home and whenever I came to do the service when I saw the brown recluse spiders that were infesting the upstairs of this house it was actually one of the worst infestations that I had seen in a very very long time and we left some blue Boards out and I want to show you guys what these glue boards have caught and just a three week period so this glue board right here was left behind the toilet and there are one two three four five six thirteen brown recluse spiders oh maybe that's 14 that's a baby one right there brown recluse spiders on this glue board in a three week period that's a lot of spiders so this house definitely had an active population of brown recluse spiders inside the upstairs area especially if you guys have seen any of my other video videos on brown recluse spiders or know anything about brown recluse spiders they do prefer that dry upstairs area as opposed to like a downstairs or basement area what I'm going to do today is I'm spraying really really well around the upstairs I'm targeting all the cracks I can get to upstairs I'm spraying all the baseboards last time I was here as I was spraying you could literally see adult spiders just scattering when I moved away beds or moved away couches that's how many there were also guys check it out there's a dead spider there's going to be a bunch of dead spiders today and that's why we want to see that means the chemicals working when there's dead spiders like this curled up that's what they do when they die they just curl up like that there's another dead spider in the corner there and I've got some general insecticides and also some Spire specific stronger chemicals and I'm also going to be changing out these blue boards all of them have at least a few spiders on there so there's some over there also three down there at the bottom so next we are going to head to a general pest control quarterly service it's just down the road and the price of this service is 80 and it should take me about 30 minutes all right so I just did a quick spray around the inside Perimeter they weren't having any major issues just been seeing a couple spiders so next I'm going to apply some of these granular insecticides and also spray around the outside perimeter and then I'm going to go inside and talk to the customer and refill some of these rodent stations because they were having problems with mice in their garage during the last time we were here and now we are headed to our next job which is also a mosquito service well guys no one is here for this mosquito spray there's just some puppy dogs inside barking at me it's just resin repeat again guys for mosquito sprays they're a little repetitive this backpack sprayer can fill about three and a half gallons of water so I'll try to mix about three and a half fluid ounces of this towel started to put inside of it same as last time just pour the concentrate in there here it's really pretty thick when you guys look at it there but we mix it with water and it thins it down and then I'll just fog the yard like I do for all these mosquito sprays and it shouldn't take but just a few minutes and then we'll be headed to our next stop this mosquito spray we're at now is also 49 these next two videos I'm about to show you were not actually done today but they're once every couple year kind of jobs and they were really cool to see this first one is a European hornet nest I was actually able to catch one of these Hornets they were nesting inside the crack in this tree here and I was able to get it in this jar and just look at how massive these Hornets are guys these are definitely one of the biggest hornet species if not the biggest in North America the next job I'd actually never seen this species before this is a bald-faced hornet nest this huge Nest was built on the side of this customer's house they had us come over there and knock it down for them these Hornets are notorious for making huge paper nests and whenever I knocked it down we were able to break open the cell inside of this nest and you can see all the life stages of this bald face Hornet you can see the eggs and you can see the adults and you can see these little larva that we're wiggling around and just look like worms but I'm not going to bore you with this next one I'm just going to tell you guys about it and it's just a normal mosquito spray and like I said they are pretty darn repetitive at this point and there's nothing new if there's something cool I will definitely show you you know once I get that backpack fogger filled up with water uh that thing weighs about 50 pounds so it it's not easy it's kind of a workout doing a bunch of mosquito jobs in a day but when you're as muscular and in shape as I am then it's really just no problem so I just got that mosquito drop finished up we are going to head to our next stop which is going to be really quick all I'm going to do is spray the outside of his house because he's been seeing some spiders and it shouldn't take but just a few minutes man I was just spraying for spiders on this one but they've got all kinds of cool creatures around here they got these little piggies came to say hi to and they got this huge toad that's just chilling on the front porch I don't know how I got up on this porch considering the porch is like three feet off the ground so guys after all of my hard work killing bugs I really thought I deserved a snack so here I am with my favorite snack Dairy Queen my next job is at this apartment complex they call this over to this unit and they said that there's wasps on the eaves of the porch and I finally found what they're talking about here if you look up so right over there see those wasps there and right above me there's another wasp there see how many wasps are on that little bitty nest well what's actually happened is someone has knocked down their nest and my guess is that it was over there because you can see a stain on the ceiling and When someone knocks down the nest they just build another one so that's what these wasps are doing so all the wasps in the colony are still alive but their nest is gone so now they're just hanging out on the ceiling there now there's one hanging out there working on starting that new net all I do for this job is I'm going to use this wasp freeze and spray and kill those active wasps as soon as this stuff hits it it's gonna kill them if you get close and you just knock them out really quick there's really no harm in being stung and just give them a nice squirt to the face and that knocks him out pretty quick I think I missed one of them but I got 90 of them and they call this stuff wasp freeze for a reason because you know that was literally seconds ago and looks like they're just Frozen but they're just dead all right guys my very last stop of the day isn't my service at this apartment complex and they said they've been seeing mice droppings under the kitchen sink which is a pretty common area to see them it's a pretty simple treatment for this all we have to do is tell the customer to make sure all the food is put away and you know no food laying out for the mice to get to and then we put out these rodent bait stations this is what it looks like when you close it it looks like just a black triangle like this but what's inside of it here is the real key it's a block of rodenticide so this rodent bait block goes inside of here and when you close it down it leaves an opening for the mice to come inside turn the corner and feed on it so I just put a couple of these inside I'll definitely put one under the sink and maybe somewhere else in the house just depending on what I see so I'm gonna go inside and see if the customer is there and put some of these out and then we'll be done for the day something that I really wanted to touch on today is one of the big problems in the pest control industry and that brown recluse spider service really reminded me of it and that problem is customers expectation versus the reality of what it takes to get rid of bugs and I don't know where customers get this premise from but a lot of times whenever we go to do a service no matter if there's you know five ants or 5 000 termites or 5 million cockroaches customers think that one Pest Control treatment should be able to get rid of this now there is one thing that I would like to say it's not that humans don't have the pure technology of insecticides to kill millions of insects with just a small amount of chemical because we can definitely do that but the problem is applying it safely around where humans live while not destroying the normal activities of humans like if we wanted to go into a house that had a brown recluse infestation like that one we could tent it up we could completely seal it off we could fog it and fumigate it kill anything alive in there if we wanted to but that would cost the customer twenty thousand dollars worth of chemicals and labor and no one wants to pay that but instead we're able to charge the customer closer to like 300 over a few months period in order to get these spiders under control now that is much more logical to me as far as pesticide application goes sometimes when I go to a customer's house and they're like oh yeah I got a lot of bugs I need you to bomb it today I need you to fog it I need you to fumigate this place I'm like well you know I could fumigate it we have the technology to do that but I don't think you want to pay for a fumigation and customers really for the most part just have no clue about pest control or how bugs even come to inhabit their homes half of our job is just customer education and the other half is actually applying the chemicals so there's a lot that goes into the pest control industry and it's it's a lot harder job than people realize it is let me know what you guys think about that pretty common issue in my opinion because it's something that I think about all the time all right guys I am back at our beautiful office all of the trucks are starting to roll in and I'm done for the day as far as killing bugs go but the last thing I have to do today is our end of the month truck inspection report where basically I just go through this list of criteria and make sure that all of my equipment is working okay it really helps us you know make sure our trucks are performing correctly because all the jobs we do are out of this truck anyways I'm about to do that and then I'll be done for the day so thank you guys for coming along with me and I will see you guys again very very soon
