we're about to do something we may regret we're about to set goats loose into the world not exactly let me explain um we've had a real problem with goats in the past here and worm issues that's why we've kept our dolings inside since we got them and just take them out for walks but it's getting to be a little colder outside now less light coming in through the barn doors we'd like to get them outside kind of free access so they can go in and outside when they want but we can't do that from here so we have to figure out where do we have a space for them where they'll be able to go inside and outside whenever they want in the past our paddocks outside of the barn are fenced in areas that actually keep goats in had a lot of vegetation growing and if you keep goats in a very small area grazing in the same spot over and over as we learn the hard way you can have a real problem with worms even with treating them we were working with our vet in the past trying to treat the worms it just got to be too much of a problem so we want to get these goats outdoor access but we want it to be safe where they're not going to get exposed to a worm load where we can make sure they're not eating vegetation that has worms crawling up it so we got to find a good spot where we can get them outside get them some sun but keep them safe and keep them you know healthy you saw usually they knocked that one over though you need like a heavy duty one huh oh man i saw a pool ladder you know like a ladder going up to a pool for free on the side of the road the other day they would love that we'd look so trashy okay we can't use the stall they're in because it goes out to that paddock which is green all the time yep so they'll that'll be worms yeah that hill was dead death hill we need them to have just gravel and we could put them in the back paddock here but we have the auto waterer which we've learned with the sheep the sheep would jump over the waterer out into the other paddock which then they would jump out of that and go free and these little things they could slip through the high tensile fencing no problem yeah they would never be held behind yeah we need to have them in the net the chicken wire stuff yeah this doll right here has the little chicken door which they could go out they can fit out of a chicken-sized door oh even yeah or even our nubian could fit out of that chicken that's right goats you know they can fit um we have the chicks in here now but they're not chicks anymore they're pretty big they could go with the other chickens i say it's time to boot the chicks yeah they ain't chicks no more look at those beauties can you give us a update on your chicks and how they are now part of the you're gonna make them part of the big flock so uh now the chicks and the chickens uh we put them together and so so far it's been going pretty good that means i think we'll have to give the chicks who are chicken sized now can get a little nudge into the other chicken stock we'll put the food in the water in there there's a door between the two stalls here and you opened it a couple of days ago to get everybody used to each other yeah they are and then that way they'll be in the coop with the nesting boxes so when they start to lay which should be soon for a week or so until the weather changes all right everyone all right this is one of the really good setups of our barn see they are these two stalls have a little teeny tiny door that's connecting them that was put in post construction because this used to be for the horses when we first built the horse stuff oh yeah chickens but then mom was doing more chickens than anything so and then we'll shut that door in there yeah [Music] there we go we got it now bud did you see how that happened when you guys turn 18. same thing just push you out the door and shut it behind you works really good for raising chickens in this barn because we're able to raise chips in that stall which is right next to the main chicken stall and when they're old enough we opened that door at night my son came out the other day when it was dark that way they start mixing in the evening when they're less likely to fight they get used to each other and then they start mingling during the day through the two stalls and then we're able to do what we just did which is the old nothing to see here folks boom yeah so we're gonna clean that out guys sometimes we get people asking us like how should i design my barn bigger than you think it's always nice to have an extra stall so we'll be back to having an extra stall which will be great because goats will have access to the outside from that side this side if we need for when honeybee has her calf in another month we'll have something close start to count down for that the countdown honeybee calf honeybee milking oof she's easier i don't think so i bet you i would bet lots of money honeybee's going to be harder than grass well in a way but think of her reach it's like he's got rolls that's true i'll be safer i'll have to wear less ppe all right let's clean this pen for goats remember what this is for a little afraid what's going to come through this door here a giant we put up that that's a door to the outside and we screwed in that barrier because we were a long long time ago we had bunnies in here inside this stall and the little bunnies were jumping up into there and getting through the cracks into the wall and we're getting baby bunnies in the walls so a little bit worried it's cuter than it actually is i'm gonna undo this door and a giant zombie bunny snake is gonna come through [Music] so far no zombie bunnies have come through that gate all right we've been doing deep litter with these chicks for the last couple months so deep litter one bad day today is that day we gotta get all this out here get all the chicken poop cobwebs everything get ready for goats [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] bye this is what you deal with this is what you deal with when you're working in a barn with goats on the loose the naughtiest animals on the homestead yes hi buttons is especially trouble this one here cookie behind her cookie's less trouble cookie kind of gets into trouble because she hangs out with buttons but buttons is the problem [Music] cookie's mom's like stop hanging out with that button she gets you in trouble but cookie likes buttons and tries to stop buttons from doing things that are bad but you know buttons doesn't listen should listen to your mom cookies okay so here's how this is gonna work we're gonna move the goats into that far stall we're gonna open that back door and that will give the goats this outdoor run right here where they can come and get some sunshine and jump and play around on rocks and drink and play with chickens and hopefully not escape like i said at the beginning of this video this may be something we regret if pennsylvania ever has a resident population of wild mini goats you'll know who to blame yes good you remember the story about pandora pandora well here goes nothing [Music] [Music] [Music] you can't put them back in the box [Music] you
