I got this t-shirt from von Kahr a stadium for free anyway today I'm going to talk about my u.s. application process I applied to a few colleges in the u.s. top colleges in the world and got rejected from all of them of course though I don't know Bertha Markey how that experience was why did I apply to these colleges in the first place and if you guys want to apply then one of the things you've got to keep in mind before you even start the application process though let's do it this is how it started right so met tenth grade Huachuca Tamara and tenth I scored around 97% on my board and I didn't really want to go to a coaching class cookie I didn't like the atmosphere the you know 10th mmmm by the way coaching Giada 30k like God bored ski coaching though they used to stuff us in a classroom some 50 60 students sitting in a really tiny classroom and I hated that environment so in my eleventh and twelfth grade my parents said don't go to a coaching it's fine if you got would go to a normal school though I didn't go to a dummy school a catches Golgotha it's called Ashoka Universal School amazing school and now in hindsight I think not going for coaching was one of the best decisions I've ever taken in my life alright so in my levant grade you know I'm sitting in the classroom or xamon erotica in that seminar a guy who got accepted to Princeton University because don't know about Princeton University is it's like one of the top most colleges in the u.s. he came to a class and he gave a talk about how the application process was and what happened so essentially he got you know almost full marks and a CP Subject Tests and SAT or he got a really high scholarship the Princeton chief piece is almost 50 lakhs per year but he got a scholarship because of which he was paying around 2.5 lakhs per you're including everything so I was like what you can go to the u.s. for like 2.5 x per year that's that's amazing starting in one of the top most colleges in the US for just 2.5 likes that's mind-boggling I'm going to do this and you know I - the I went to sites like push sites that ranking take us ranking square K and over there almost all the top 50 colleges of the us weren't higher than IITs so I was like this is a really good chance a lot of people don't even think about it even I'm gonna apply to the US and I started the process so I wasn't alone Marissa Mayer I called those diamond he was applying abroad he was append to the UK though almost similar process so the nose tester a there and a group Nadia the Homme neige we were all applying abroad hearing was xi k ending medical that was a time when I entered twelfth grade so I was so confident about getting into one of these colleges that I almost gave up on J means those in addition to college major he means Q sorry but I got Matata because the new key entrances give me NACA scrutiny at though I was studying J mates my purse which online resources there I think Alan key fidgeting ago sneaky Decathlon online resource I used to study from there and then I just gave up on J I was like now I'm just gonna focus on TOEFL SAT SAT Subject Tests and that's it and then I'm gonna apply and then I'm gonna focus on the application process ticket the application process keV I remember button was know so let's talk about the first exam TOEFL TOEFL or it's but the examples exam it's just a test kyoko english wat i kini though I scored 116 out of 120 was my work will be that though that was pretty easy then SAT of SAT man I scored 1440 or of 1600 and then for SAT Subject Tests I scored 23 30 out of 2400 these are decent scores but it's not enough to get into the these top colleges now I'll tell you the colleges that I was planning to apply to first was Harvard MIT Stanford I wasn't short of Duke Dartmouth Cornell University of Pennsylvania Princeton and brown university Brown University is where Emma Watson are studying anyway so these were the universities that I was trying to apply remember these are very very expensive or an outrage you have to pay around hundred thousand dollars a year to you know be in one of these in u.s. I was banking on scholarships I thought keeper scholarship bugger Mel jaga then I would be able to afford it and that was the only thing I was banking on so also I was inspired by the other guy's story right who got into Princeton also I had a friend who got into Harvard with a great scholarship so yeah those are my role models there and I thought it would be pretty easy but soon I realized key together those the Princeton wallah India myself South Logan a Princeton or in 2018 though that's so competitive right in a country with 1.3 billion peoples of South look at the Princeton University MIT Nike see Canadian idea sell yourself to zero look at MIT from India and Howard chose Phi students from India to you know go and study in the university it's it was so competitive and I don't know make Yasuo sirata but I shot I thought I have a good shot now the thing is whenever you apply to foreign universities there are two aspects to it the first one is academics I can mix in a bowl there TOEFL SAT or SAT Subject Tests many scores with maybe a cholita the second one is extracurriculars now if your academics is decent then you can compensate for that by having extraordinary extracurriculars so I made a plan here Turkey made us who scorer with notch honey yeah so let's try to pull AVI extracurricular spurred a ribbon a coach Vaught the attacker idea though I might get into one of these colleges right though that was my plan then I started participating in lot of competitions just for the sake of my resume a so let me know my intention either with the intrinsically good motivation Mita but Mucha basick application mentality - no participate ki aging turbo cheetah then I started participating in random Olympiads this memorable current race Nita but just for the sake of a application may participate Kurata and then I came across a competition called makerspace ticket so it was a global competition or where you had to build stuff could be Manasa theta + you had to make a tutorial about how you build it then we made chicken incubators we made you know solar-powered lamps we made a lot of a bunch of things and you know some water level indicator things like this so many we worked on all these projects and start submitting it for the competition it was a global competition so even universities were participating we were in our 12th grade and many Beaman are the other schools and we were participating in this competition now believe it or not we were the top and global teams after participating in it and I didn't even like good motivated Nathan about a speed connect leave percept college application skilling I did that and then I realized hey I get college application kidnap a I'm going out of my way and doing crazy things that I never thought would be able to do through makerspace top 10 global teams that that was a big thing right so we got a lot of goodies Basara t-shirts equipments was a they sent it from the US in fact the shipping charge itself was $200 store in it like the total value of prices might be around thousand dollars so that's the great part about it though we won that and then I thought this is not enough I got to do something more so there's something about tech fest that happens in iit bombay and if you guys don't know i mean i told you right I made an incubator the incubator is basically a box through which you can hatch chickens I actually hatched few chickens using an incubator so I you know use commodify cut the Atty I said key this wouldn't help farmers get better income as I'm anymore if I could then I applied to tech fest at iit bombay i don't know how but i got selected in the top 20 teams at iit bombay so I went there and presented my incubator in front of professors at iit bombay i think i was one of the youngest over there and yeah that's that so I will get Hakeem a top 20 finalists method I think on bigotech freshmen so these were the two things two major things rendered a scale of abode sorry fall to a low volume plz they just fill up the application once that was done it was time for the application ticket to ssleep not at that or he essays bother deep said that but love up Co retrospect querque like about him so she's making about that aqui up nails and they give me a sub say Khushi Kamaka katha when were you depress the most when did you cheat on someone when was the last thing you'd hacked in your life both eeap's of questions right there and I typed in these that says I spent like two months and just doing these essays both angry scyatta je means does each hold the other manner like 90% of my time used to go in these college applications and SAT SAT Subject Tests preparation I don't know if it was a good decision or not but I don't regret it though yes of cheesy GUI and then I applied now remember application cost is expensive each application costed me around $100 and I ended up spending around seventy thousand rupees in just applying to colleges the best application form I spent around 70,000 rupees there's something called the common app the common app is like a common platform through which you can apply to a lot of colleges so that's what I did now I had won an interview with like a Princeton alumni so he called in from California we had the call on skype and he was pretty impressed with the things that I did and who snow was a confidence either lucky I would get it he was like I think you have a really good shot at it and you might get in though I was happier could kill him I thought he I already got a seat in Princeton but then later on the day of the results I got rejected from each and every one of these colleges all of these top colleges you can I already told you at Cassatt pass loogies Arthur India say and I don't know what I was thinking but Sadiq order yourself was rejected so now my only option was J means J advance and bits out these are the only three options I was left with if I don't do any one of these then I'm screwed in life so I was like okay now let's focus on bit sad Angie means start studying for those two or J means I screwed up real bad my rank was on 40,000 and J means terrible bits that I put in the full focus and somehow within a month I was able to finish the portion and I got 300 out of 415 bit set which i think is quite decent and then this thing J advanced I think I got around 19,000 or 20,000 rank and J advanced that was it so as I told you I applied to best to methods right one is through bit sad and the other one is who is a so through bits that I was getting Eni and through is a I was getting EC I chose EC and I got a seat in bits I was happy about it and then right after I got a seat in bits I realized that even bits is a bit competitive with ska so acceptance rate it's around point zero one percent or Princeton acceptance rate is around five percent so a texted my interviewer saying hey I got rejected from Princeton but I got into bits which has a less acceptance rate than even he was like yeah that's great though whoa-ho yeah though I do I regret not going to the US actually no I love bits and it's pretty amazing by the way bits has been inspired from MIT ethos your dome Briella bits co-occur it's similar to MIT dome if you've ever noticed that though I love bits I have great friends there I'm working on a couple of projects and it's a great experience so that was my story of applying abroad had I gone abroad I think I would have spent way more than where I'm spending right now because US is very expensive and now during time of KOed I'm happy that I didn't go abroad I would have been stuck in the US and would have been pretty screwed ticket though I'm happy that I am safe at home you have a heart goes out to everyone who stuck in the u.s. so that was an odd manage of those there right jomi reduce the discus add me up like a rata he got 1200 now I'll tell you I got rejected in spite of good scores because I applied to really competitive colleges sticker but the chance of you getting accepted and lower colleges is very high though if I had applied to University of Texas so similar data Berkeley Iran's Annunziata though I think these colleges are easy to get in but you'll have to shell out more cash of course to manage of the house go ASAP mate 1200 mulatto who says any subject has been India or TOEFL mean India and he applied to the UK right now he is in University of Leeds could she do not say video called a BA 3p and unfortunately he's stuck in the UK yes so he wasn't able to book his flights back and that's that so I don't eclis this time Germany although sharpish manipulate a text off the other to Yanam it available at the key one of my friends was like Howard McMahon thought oh and I got inspired by him him and I go there for the TEDx talk though do not even see in Big Bertha yeah so like this pretty different guy is like if you don't get accepted into u.s. colleges then don't get disheartened it's fine maybe that's how God has plan like for you so it's never the end ticket man I got screwed mosaic though my name is je means a bit sad they another so that's that and also I gave boards also right towards my score 95.6% and that said guys so I hope you guys got a brief idea about how things turned out how might Levithan 12 to end I'm really happy because mammoth herbs are extra curricular squish Catania the 9th or 10th may was a coat first paragraph Tata but 11th or 12th May I went out of my way I did a lot of extracurriculars and which helped me improve my communication skills and gave me a lot of soft skills so that has that helped me in my university so that's it guys dude get into extracurriculars it's very important makes you happier makes you get good leadership skills and makes you kind of successful in life so that's my two cents on applying to the u.s. I see you the next one also also subscribe to my channel or click on the link to get mentored by students of BITS Pilani and also there's a link for getting skills and you know working on life projects so click on that link even it's gonna be pretty cool you're building something amazing for you guys so stay tuned bye
