I've played Pokémon a lot of different ways but today we're going to try to beat the game if every trainer has level 100 Pokémon that's it that's the challenge it's so simple and yet how in the world are we going to do that I mean how do you even get past the very first area of the game the wild Pokemon are all at their normal levels the only change to this game is that the opponents are going to use Pokémon that are all level 100 this is going to be a doozy Let's Get Right to it the first thing I have to decide is which starter we want to use this was actually really simple it's Bulbasaur and it's not close why well you'll see but for now we're going to head to vidian Forest and catch a Caterpie Caterpie is actually going to be one of the most important Pokemon in this run but in order to use the strategy we have to do some really tedious leveling up not as much as you think by the way I'm not going to go above level 50 in this challenge that is my level cap so if a Pokemon ever gets above level 50 I'm going to stop using it just an extra added challenge I'm also not going to use any items in battle or glitches so yeah pretty much a standard jrro challenge but I'm going to level up Caterpie to be a Butterfree and I'm going to level up Bulbasaur a little bit too once Butterfree hits level 17 we're ready and we're going to battle this trainer first because he has a Kakuna so strategy is simple hope we get String Shot which we did and then try to put it to sleep I think you know where this might be going but in case you don't see there's another poison Sting the reason we wanted Bulbasaur so badly there we go finally it went to sleep is that even at level eight actually at level seven we can get leech seed and now I'm going to try using growl and getting this to be as low attack as possible but more important importantly and kind of luckily I'm just going to spam sleep powder since Pokemon cannot attack the turn they wake up so as long as we keep spamming sleep powder in theory Weedle should never wake up although in practice there's a one in4 chance we miss I decide to be greedy and just go for poison sting and my greed pays off in that Bulbasaur is going to gain 1,00 experience points going all the way to level 13 which is huge and you can see now how beating one level 100 Pokémon is going to make things great now we can knock out Kakuna and that's going to get me all the way to level 16 Weedle going to knock me out but that's okay we're going to be able to level up Bulbasaur after 20 minutes of beating Weedle and Kakuna I could never beat the third Weedle but that's okay I'm going to battle this mandatory trainer and this trainer at level 23 if I use growl doesn't one-hot me anymore and if I keep using growl eventually I'm actually going to gain back more HP via leech seed than poison sting is going to deal un less a crits which is annoying but not the end of the world it's taken me 53 minutes but we have beaten the first mandatory trainer we've actually beaten another trainer but the first mandatory trainer is going to be defeated putting Weedle to sleep makes things just a little bit easier because Leach seed can miss and now we have time to spam growl leech seed and growl they are the keys to Victory but you can see that we're only having a deficit of seven and Weedle only goes for poison sting half the time and after six growls poison sting and Lee seed are almost evening out meaning to knock me out would take far longer than Weedle has it is only 116th of its Health that leech seed takes which is really annoying but while it is slow and I should just go for tackle but it's only going to do like one damage we do win and at only level 20 we can make it to Brock but of course Brock's Pokémon are also going to be at level 100 so what are we going to possibly do there well look what happens it seems Geodude keeps going for earthquake why is that well let's talk about it in generation one AI Pokemon don't get customized move sets they just have the last four moves they learn via level up this is absolutely massive because Geodude has two moves that self-destruct as well as earthquake which can't hit Butterfree and as you saw Vine whip actually does very decent damage to Onyx so even though Brock is a gym leader he is going to be substantially easier after explosion now we just need some good luck with b and we can even use growl hopefully to lower potentially rock throw and onx might actually be done here rage no we get a crit that's really unfortunate but we're really close well wouldn't you know just two attempts later we do put Geodude to sleep we switch to Ivysaur we get the full heal that's fine we switch back to Butterfree the reason I'm doing this is simply because after explosion Ivysaur will gain a bunch of experience points and those are valuable Rock through misses we get by this allows me to go for grout it's actually a three- turn B that means four growls are up Harden Vine whip rock throw misses again rock throw hits and I survive and then I get B easy peasy we have beaten our first gym leader just 1 hour in although I am at increased speed with normal Pokemon versus level 100s but don't get too excited there are plenty other difficult trainers to go and this is where it's important to mention even random trainers are just as hard as gym leaders in this challenge take the very first bug catcher you battle on Route three would it surprise you to learn that this bug catcher took me longer than Brock did it's true we don't have super effective moves so we need to rely on sleep and leech seed and even though there is a chance we could get the growls up and then we out heal that just isn't super likely to happen we have to get really good Lu with string shots and with three Pokemon it's so much harder than one it took me 13 minutes to finally beat that bug Catcher And yes every time I lost I'm gaining a little bit of experience points but because experience points don't scale with level like they would in generation 5 it does take quite a long time 1,000 experience points at this point really isn't all that much so while my Ivysaur is at a slightly higher level it's not making a substantial difference really there are four mandatory trainers on Route 3 it took me 27 minutes to get by them this challenge have been sitting in my to-do pile for over 2 years that's right this actually might be one of the first level 100 Challenges ever the difference between me and other creators is that I was just so nervous I'd be skipping too much and over the years I've realized well yeah it's just kind of the nature of this challenge we can really only talk about Gym Leaders but a lot of people did see this on stream and you got to experience a lot of the ups and downs of just the random trainers and how difficult it was to beat them maybe one day I'll upload the 20ish hours of footage I have but for now we're just going to stick to the major battles and talk about how I was able to get past them if I was at all the next major battle we know is either Misty or rival 2 it might surprise you to learn I actually battle Misty next and would you look at that I have a Venus or but there's something kind of interesting that's going to happen with Staryu because Staryu learns light screen via level up its good AI will force it to spam light screen star me on the other hand has the same moves that it has when we normally battle it meaning it's going to go for tackle I lose Venusaur and then try to put it to sleep as well as use supersonic so that it might knock itself out in confusion I then use poison powder to try and rack up poison damage but it's not looking good my graer faints magikarp's not going to do much help and Paris which I just have for hm purposes it's not going to survive either but if we used leech seed and got a little luckier with sleep we might be able to win so let's just try that again don't forget I want to keep all the levels up because as long as my Pokémon are below level 50 we can level them up as as much as we want there's no level cap or anything we knock out Staryu once again we're at level 34 I'm going to use leech seed this time X defend is perfect and now tackle crits which is really bad I'm going to send in Butterfree tackle doesn't knock it out I put it to sleep supersonic misses initially but then it hits now I just have to hope star me doesn't attack me before I can put it back to sleep alas that doesn't happen and star me is just going to wipe my entire team once again this graler by the way the reason it only is tackle and self-destruct the reason for that is in Generation 1 only the game doesn't level you up one at a time which is nice but it also skips all the moves you would learn via level up so that's going to be a problem for Graveler but that's a problem for later for now for the third time I'm going to try and knock out Staryu and we're going to hopefully get some better luck if not we're just going to keep trying until we do tackle doesn't knock out Venusaur but it does on the second try and now I need to hope for good luck and I don't get it in the end I decide to give up for now and try my luck at rival 2 just to see how it's going to go rival 2 leads with a level 100 Pidgeotto it goes for Mirror move I actually have Magikarp out in front cuz I want Gyarados then it goes for wing attack knocks out graler before it can use self-destruct I put it to sleep I try and swap in Venusaur but Pidgeotto wakes up it goes for Whirlwind I do use leech seed it will go for Whirlwind and not always wing attack but it does eventually go for wing attack knocks out Venusaur then it goes for wing attack and knocks out my Butterfree I am going to try to hope it doesn't go for wing attack but in the end this is not looking good well guys it appears as if we are stuck what are we going to do to get around this the answer was somewhat anti-climactic we leveled up a lot and we did try to win but we battled rival to a ton Venusaur is now level 45 so it can survive a wing attack graler is now level 33 and the important thing is we can use Harden I wish we had rock throw or rock slide and that critical hit really hurts but it's not the end of the world the idea is that Pidgeotto eventually is not going to be able to do enough damage to graler to counteract the leech seed so we should always be net positive and this takes a really really long time and I mean to you tackle and I just forget don't forget I've been at this for over an hour and we've gone to this part many many many times now we go into Venusaur and we use leech seed so that we can gain as much health back against Abra but hold on a second there's something else we're going to do we might not have access to the badge boost glitch but we can use growth and this won't actually power up Razor Leaf because Razor Leaf will almost always crit it will however reduce the amount of damage we take from a Pokemon like Charmander if Venusaur can make it past Rattata so here's rata it goes for quick attack razor leaves a three ko. and thankfully it goes for Focus energy twice we're at level 46 and here comes Charmander it has flamethrower the question is do we survive after six growths you can see I'm waiting this is a moment of truth it misses with fire spin it then misses with Rage which is a gen one miss it goes for slash which does knock me out it then goes for fire spinning crits which is terrible that means every subsequent hit will crit but then it goes for rage and once it does that it's not good for Charmander it is now locked into rage the entire time I was trying to get Charmander to a point where it would use rage and after an hour it did we can put it to sleep using sbeam may have not been the best idea I was just getting a little greedy but at the end of the day finally and you can see that look of exasperation I got past rival 2 all the while I had been battling MTI for experience points and you knew this was about to happen at some point in between my battling rival 2 and trying to gain levels we ended up somewhat accidentally beating Misty we didn't even have particularly good luck here the big factor that made a difference was the addition of Gyarados and that means Misty's not going to use her really powerful water moves since Misty has good AI meaning she will try to avoid as much as possible using not very effective moves and since she has tackle she will prefer to use tackle now you might be wondering Jos what are you talking about Gyarados not even going to use Butterfree is just going to sweep but unfortunately Butterfree does not sweep we do need to use Gyarados here and I'm pretty sure Gyarados could have survived one tackle but star me actually hit itself in confusion so it didn't matter but that was the idea of buying Magikarp and training Gyarados in the end I didn't really actually need it to do anything it just gained some levels but fast forwarding ahead a little bit we have been playing this game for 17 in-game hours which is already one of the longest playthroughs I've ever done for the channel and we've made it to rival 3 luckily in theory rival 3 shouldn't be that much more difficult than rival 2 because their levels are the same in actuality it doesn't quite work that way just because of the Pokemon that rival 3 has unfortunately we get an unlucky critical hit and so I'm going to have to go into graler again we have earthquake now which is pretty cool I wish I had rock slide but that's not a move it can even learn via level up this is going to be a very very tedious and annoying battle so we're just going to fast forward to Pidgeot fainting radicate now comes out it goes for Focus energy and it seems to really like Focus energy but what I like is the fact that graler defenses are so high that radicate is barely doing anything to it now is where we have an issue Kadabra Kadabra has psychic and psychic Pokemon in generation one are ridiculously overpowered unfortunately even against my Kadabra it will go for psychic moves I can try to use Dragon Rage with Gyarados but it doesn't do all that much I mean 40 HP to a level 100 is nothing I do accidentally go for poison powder I meant to go for Sleep powder again and that probably is going to cost me this battle it goes for recover which is kind of nice and then it goes for reflect which is a psychic move showing it can use psychic moves like sbeam I have bells Sprout because eventually our Venusaur is going to become level 50 and we won't be able to use it anymore which is really unfortunate it's been a great Pokémon but that's kind of the give and take with this challenge by placing a hard limit at level 50 we just can't rely on one or two good Pokemon to get us through this and we can't just level up all the way to level 100 very quickly we need to constantly be evolving replacing and thinking about what comes next and Venusaur only having a couple levels of leeway is very unfortunate considering this is only the fourth major battle so that's why have bells Sprout because better that than nothing well we skipped ahead a bit 2 hours ahead and that means things have changed not Venusaur it already was almost at the cap but we have a much higher level Graveler which is pretty good we're going to treat Pidgeotto the exact same as before so we can just skip ahead it takes a long time and in fact the strategy for radicate that's not going to change either where things become problematic are Cadabra once again I'm going to go for explosion but unfortunately I get sbeam well time to bring out one of my new Pokémon Hypno I didn't even have a drowsy last time you guys saw me and now I have a Hypno too bad it doesn't get to use hypnosis and you think this battle is going to be over but we do get it to sleep due to a sleep powder from Butterfree Butterfree has been with us this whole time I try to swap to my cadabra to tank sbeam but it does not work and then I try to put Cadabra back to sleep but putting it to sleep is one thing we need to do some damage Gyarados is Level 33 and still the best move we have is Dragon rage but thankfully Kadabra actually takes a long time to wake up and once it does it knocks itself out due to confusion but in comes Charmeleon and we get rage this is huge I need to stop attacking it so it doesn't do too too much damage but we use leech seed I swapped a Butterfree and that's it it should be over I go for Sleep powder use Supersonic and in fact I'm just going to go for sbeam it is confused it hits itself in confusion and after leech seed and look at my Expressions guys this is taking a very long time it is very difficult to convey for a YouTube video just how tedious and difficult every single battle was and yet the challenge was still so fun because every battle was like a puzzle where I really had to think of all the options I had available to me and what I could possibly use to get by Pokemon two to three times my level in some cases four times My Level we're nearly 24 in-game hours 6 hours of real time and we're just about to battle Lieutenant surge we do thankfully have a Pokemon that's very good against Lieutenant Serge our graler but is that going to be enough only one way to find out surge leads with Voltorb who isn't too big a deal I try to get a little cheeky and set up Harden but voltor punishes me with an explosion and I should have seen that coming Pikachu I'm not going to make the same mistake I'm just going to go for earthquake and I get a clutch critical hit knocking it out in one hit and there goes the battle because uh fun fact Raichu just keeps going for Thunderbolt I don't think due to the way this works it can use anything but Thunderbolt And Thus on our first try versus level 100's we beat surge no matter what version of the game this is surge always stinks by the way shout outs to Shenanigans prolific Pokemon speedrunner for modifying the game in this way I would have had no idea how to do it but this is just a vanilla copy of Pokémon blue but all the trainer Pokemon are level 100 and all these weird interactions all Shenanigans did was put it to level 100 then red and blue just did its thing fun times okay guys so we have three gym badges down and after that quick Victory it might seem like things are looking up and in a way they are after we get through Rock Tunnel there's far more options available to us which is quite nice however we're going to lose some of our great Pokémon who have really helped us get to this point such as graler and Venusaur so we need to start thinking about replacements for now however I'm just going to level up some of the other Pokémon we haven't been using and by level them up I mean spend an hour battling random trainers and now we're at Giovani I'm going to use Venusaur one last time we get critted by slam which is really annoying and you can see I just have Venusaur here for the leech seed I actually want it to faint because it can't afford to get much more experience points we do have Gyarados with bubble beam that's going to take out Onyx Gyarados is in the slow LevelUp Group which in this challenge helps immensely unfortunately ryhorn knocks it out Kadabra actually outspeeds and hits with psychic but it's not enough to knock out ryhorn Giovani then inexplicably uses guard speec and now we're on to Kangaskhan we have graler versus Kangaskhan but it gets critted by Mega Punch Butterfree can try to put it to sleep Mega Punch we have Hypno hyp know is pretty good but unfortunately we cannot land the hypnosis and Venusaur tries it might cannot oh well I just assumed it could not turns out it could okay that was pretty crazy first try Victory did not expect that still hasn't leveled up yet but you can see why I really really really didn't want it to gain those extra experience points however if it fainted it wouldn't have been able to knock out Kangaskhan but this may very well be venusaur's Last Stand and it has been a great Pokemon integral for the run up to this point but not long for this run before we deposit it I'm going to try and battle rival 4 fundamentally similar to rival 3 and Venusaur leech seed is so good it's going to suck not having it anymore I'm just going to use cut and try to knock out my own Venusaur because again we just can't afford to have it gain any more experience points now graler is also level 50 which really sucks because it has been a really really good Pokémon meaning I'm going to try to go for Hypno and we not only tank the wing attack we put Pidgeotto to sleep which is really good execute comes out and it goes for solar beam and that means we can put it to sleep and I'm going to swap in Butterfree here unfortunately Butterfree doesn't actually have a bug move but it can confuse it and I'm going to go for sbeam pretty sure the only attacking move execute has is solar beam and I'm correct in fact it still lands the solar beam and it crits which is really annoying but that's okay after poisoning Butterfree it goes for solar beam which I double resist I'm going to go into Gyarados now and go for Dragon rage it goes for solar beam and knocks out Gyarados uh I think Hypno makes the most sense stun Spore is bad I go for headbutt and solar beam does knock out Hypno figured it would stun Spore psychic solar beam well cadabra's a level 41 that's kind of cool but Gyarados well Dragon rage is pretty bad hyper beam's much scarier yeah that's going to be a wipe it's going to go for hydropump yeah all right well kind of expected that we're going to have to think about how to approach this one stop me if you've heard this one before it's been another hour we're leading with Hypno now that's right Venusaur is no longer our lead Pokémon which is sad but psychic does a great job versus Pidgeotto and we knock it out execute introducing our new grass poison Pokemon Victory Bell Victory Bell we don't have to worry too much about it gaining too many levels because it has eight to spare funny enough it was just level 30 not too long ago but that's what an hour of training will do we use poison powder plus wrap to knock out execute and it does a great job execute just keeps spamming poison powder because I'm listed as a grass type and it's super effective yay gen one AI Venusaur is still on the team however we need to leech seed Gyarados and try to take off as much HP as possible this is by far the worst Pokemon now we get really lucky that it goes for Lear and put it to sleep with Victory Bell it wakes up but it's at half HP unfortunately we miss sleep powder so it knocks us out with hyperbeam in gen one that means it gets to move right away hydropump knocks out Butterfree Hypno ah another hypnosis Miss but eventually we do put it to sleep and I'm going to go for meditate just try to get my attack up I guess it doesn't really matter because we get a gen one miss and then knock out Gyarados but raising attack was not a badge boost glitch manipulation no I just wanted to do a lot of damage to Kadabra and after lowering its special even with reflect headbutt does quite a lot and after another generation one miss two in one battle we knock out the Kadabra and then we get the best case scenario we get rage from Charmeleon we put it to sleep anyway and grer knocks it out trust me I'm happy we won but I'm really really nervous about what we're going to do moving forward since almost all the useful Pokémon are either at level 50 or almost almost there I know I keep talking about this but we keep just trying to squeeze one more battle out of these Pokémon but I don't know how many one more battles we can do starting day three of the challenge we still have only three gym badges and almost 33 in-game hours we're going to need to pick up the base well it took me 2 hours to finally get by the trainers in his gym but we're going to battle Koga for the first time we have Haunter from the Pokémon Tower Hunter is kind of a cool Pokémon because of its immunities and then we still have our Kadabra which knocks out coughing once Haunter put it to sleep now Muk we don't really have to worry about muuk the only thing it can use is sludge unfortunately it does use it but hey introducing slow bro it doesn't actually have a psychic move other than confusion but it does knock out muuk and then coughing uses self-destruct and now we have ryhorn wheezing goes for toxic which isn't that big a deal I'm going to go for Sleep powder it keeps going for toxic and oh yeah Koga has good AI it has to go for toxic versus Victory Bel I didn't even think of that I can just win by using Razer Leaf huh neat and yeah first try Victory versus Koga so it took me a really long time to get by The Drowsy and Hypno in the gym but Koga himself kind of a pushover and you got to see some of my new Pokemon you can see butterfree's gone graler is gone Venusaur is gone but we have some cool Replacements and you'll probably see them a little bit more as we continue to battle the remaining four gym leaders before I do that though I'm going to go battle everyone's favorite rival rival fival the fifth rival and now I have execute to use leech seed it's not as good as Venusaur but it has leech seed now I swap in omite which does not tank a critical hit ryhorn might unfortunately it doesn't have a rock move but actually that's not bad oh can't use stomp though cuz it could mirror move that uh that's kind of bad all right we might have to come back here slow bro it tanks pretty well surf doesn't do all that much and wow Pidgeot surf did quite a bit and yeah it's going to knock me out I think this is going to be a wipe I go for Dragon rage because well let's face it with my stats let's face it 40 is probably the most damage I'm going to do but now out comes execute you already know what this execute has because it's the same as rival 4S we don't really have to worry about new moves because as long as it's the same Pokémon the move sets are pretty much going to be identical at least until the champion where there are some slight changes but we make it through all of One Pokemon before rival fival wipes out our entire team honestly better than you may have thought well I decide to give up on Rival fival do some more leveling up and battle blank L remember I had omite from my fossil well omite is pretty good against Blaine's Pokémon since it double resists their fire type moves but something even more devastating than I could have expected happens because of their level up moves there's nothing these Pokemon can even do until AR canine they all have agility and that means they're just going to spam a quote unquote neutral effective move which obviously does no damage rather than one that would be resist soar easily gets to Arcanine but unfortunately forar Arcanine with its great stats makes quick work of it Gyarados comes out and does some significant damage but Arcanine takes it out too we're really close and I go for ryhorn and Rh Horn's actually going to do the trick it didn't attack had it used fire blast ryhorn would have fainted 100% it's still not even ride on yet but I'm not going to complain that's our fifth gym badge and almost more importantly we're going to get a slight boost to our special which should help us versus rival fival Erica and Sabrina all of whom have very powerful special attacks well it's only been 10 minutes since we beat Blaine and we're going to lead with Haunter why because of Hunter's poison typing Pidgeot has to go for agility now we're going to go to slow bro because slow bro has really good defense and we're going to increase its defense further with withdraw this means even when Pidgeot decides to go for wing attack it shouldn't do so much although Pidgeot is not going for it now once we've used six withdraw we can use three Amnesia and buff our special and hopefully we can sweep through the entire team although I'm not super optimistic but I'd like to be wrong here okay here's execute Ice Beam does outspeed and stun for misses that's clutch Gyarados goes for Dragon rage we get a crit which sucks and oh my goodness we got a freeze in generation one freezes are permanent the only way oh there's a gen one miss speaking of gen one the only way you can thaw is if I use a fire move which slow bro doesn't even have now against Alakazam I'm going to try to knock it out we're getting some unlucky crits and recovers here and sibe is still doing decent unfortunately I just can't do enough damage before psychic knocks me out now I have execute and sbeam does take get out sucks I really really wanted to get off leech seed right on it uses reflect and I get the clutchest critical hit you can imagine I don't have a rock move to use against Charizard but since it goes for rage I can start spamming tail whip and even though rage might knock out my ryhorn when I use stomp now oh actually doesn't do that much huh that's irritating all right let's go for Omar here rage is going to start doing more and more and those tail whips were kind of pointless but it's all good rage doesn't do enough to knock out Omar even though it's 56 levels lower and this new team was able to finally take down rival fival I'm going to say it's really awesome how many Pokemon we've used in this run and how in these major battles now pretty much every Pokemon has its role the only Pokemon that really didn't do much were Gyarados and ex and execute once it levels up enough to learn all its moves I can use a leaf stone and it's going to be a force to be reckoned with I hope I'm going to skip Giovani 2o cuz this video is getting kind of long and here's Sabrina really worried about her unfortunately execute can't tank a critical hit sbeam and Rydon can't tank a noncritical hit sbeam that's not good slober on the other hand can barely tank a psychic loses special and then faints Omar can't tank a critical hit that's unsurprising Gyarados can tank a non-critical hit sbeam and yeah that's uh not looking good for me here we might have to come back what if I told you that wasn't true I just had to use leaf stone and now we have exeggutor kadavra doesn't actually attack but would have tanked its attack and now we put it to sleep and that will allow me to set up with slow bro once we set up amnesia slow bro is going to do a lot of damage and it's going to be very very tanky Mr MIM uses substitute which isn't that bad what is bad is when it gets a critical hit double slap that's really annoying slow bro doesn't have any health left I thought it would have a little bit but no four turn double slap and that really puts a damper on my plans uh I don't even know what to use here I guess Rydon yeah it goes for double slap so we can knock it out here now out comes venomoth I'm going to swap into gabra goes for stuns Spore knock great but it can't oh never mind critical hit it can do a lot with psychic okay maybe we're going to have to come back here it goes for sbeam against exeggutor and then I get a really clutch hypnosis hit not only will this allow me to knock out venomoth but I'll also gain back a lot of my HP Alakazam goes for recover not once but twice allowing me to use Lee seed and put it to sleep it does wake up quickly but I put it right back to sleep and I got a special drop I'm actually going to send out Ryon here and just try to knock it out with earthquake and since it stayed asleep that was the fastest Strat and this didn't take very long at all I'm stunned because psychic Pokemon are really tough I thought we'd have to spend a long time turns out just evolving execute I really did want sleep powder and it's bad that I only have hypnosis that probably is going to hurt me later on but save me some time here which is kind of nice only two gems left Erica who I always forget about and then Giovani and you can see me looking at my screen being like Oh yeah Erica forgot about her so there was a lot of training before I got to Erica here's exeggutor remember exeggutor well Erica is going to use a really annoying strategy of poison powder plus WAP it's going to knock out exeggutor I do have a nine Tales I got one from the Pokémon Mansion unfortunately it's also going to get wrapped and I do use confuse Ray before I faint which is good but then it puts cadabra to sleep hits itself in confusion before using Razor Leaf and I think we've lost we have venomoth it goes for WAP and WAP although it can miss it doesn't we have Gyarados I do hit with one Dragon rage before it puts me to sleep use his Razor Leaf and yeah Erica is not going to be a walk in the park after seeing that loss I decided to make a bit of a strategy change we're still going to go with exeggutor and I try to put Victory Bell to sleep this time we do although we're poisoned psychic has a 33% chance to lower special and you can see it's really starting to rack up and we actually knock out the victory belt really good Tanga uses slam unfortunately Miss with hypnosis it does actually have growth which is really bad I decide to go for Gyarados and just go for Dragon rage it's going to take many many hits but thankfully tangala stays asleep for a long long time goes for stun Spore and then misses with slam so Gyarados actually knocks out tangala vile plume goes for pedal dance and it's going to get confused I can also go to Paris to tank the last attack and now it should be confused I think three is the max it can be I can go into venomoth here which double resists or I can go into exeggutor turns out I was wrong pedal dance can last longer than three turns in gen one I thought it might be able to but we do put vile plume to sleep which is good now I go into Ryon earthquake does decent damage we just need V plume to stay asleep and so far so good the damage is starting to rack up and by the time it wakes up right on of all Pokemon has actually knocked out the vile plume crazy we only have one more gym to go Giovani number three we don't have the absolute best Pokémon for dealing with Giovani 3 but they're not the wor worst Pokémon either and because of the fact that nid king and nid queen are Stone Evolutions they're not going to have great move sets this might go okay all right Giovani leads with ryhorn but this time it's kind of scary I'm going to go for hypnosis because ryhorn actually cannot hit a ghost Pokemon now I'm going to swap in slow bro I'm going to try to set up withdraws and amnesias unfortunately it wakes up too quickly but I do knock it out with surf because of withdraw I survive earthquake but but I don't survive slash we do get Doug Trio to half HP Aerodactyl is a pretty good counter to Doug Trio unfortunately it lowers its accuracy which is annoying but it can't actually do much unless it goes for slash now I have to decide I go for Gyarados it lowers my accuracy but I do knock it out with surf surf is actually doing very decent damage to nid Queen unfortunately though I cannot land a hydropump and I'm knocked out I do have Omar though and while it doesn't do great damage nid Queen is resisted by Omar and I level up to level 47 nid King uses poison sting like we talked about don't have great move sets so we are able to knock out nid king and now Rydon has the same move set we know and love One Hit KO moves actually can hit because it's faster but thankfully the 30% chance did not go in giovan's favor and we get a first try Victory versus Giovani that leaves us with only six major battles rival 6 the Elite 4 and the champion typically these six battles are the hardest battles in the game and they still might be but the fact that we are going to be at a higher level relatively speaking than when we battled Brock or Misty leads me to believe the difficulty curve won't be so extreme these won't be especially the champion rival 6 battle so dramatically different than what we've already done we just kind of have to come up with a consistent strategy but that can be really difficult when you can't go above level 50 and your opponent is at level 100 so I call these battles scouting battles I want to win don't get me wrong but I'm just trying to see what will happen and what's going to happen here is Pidgeot will be locked into agility because my Haunter is poison typ I then try to get out exeggutor and now now I'm going to try to swap in my slow bro and get as many withdraws as possible for the defense I literally want the defense unfortunately get a crit against me but it takes Pidgeot a while to attack Again by the time it does we are outpacing it and that means I can start setting up amnesia unfortunately we do get another critical hit meaning a reset but that actually went okay Pidgeot has to use agility versus Haunter so it's a safe hypnosis and after that we can probably set up slow bro and slow bro is super super important for the rest of this run because a Pokemon that can set up with amnesia and whatnot is so so important this time I'm not going to set up against Pidgeot though I'm going to just knock it out with exeggutor and that's going to lead me to the next Pokemon ryhorn ryhorn cannot hit Hunter it doesn't have any ground or Rock moved so we're going to swap it in put it to sleep and I think about it I decide to go into Gyarados surf does knock it out that's great execute is next it likes to use solar beam it takes in sunlight and unfortunately I don't have my venomoth here so I'm just going to allow Gyarados to faint here it sucks oh well we don't even faint that's kind of cool and because it went for Sleep powder and mist and then it takes two turns for solar beam we actually are really close to knocking it out I might even be able to a sleep powder that sucks Rydon wasn't able to do anything now Haunter goes for night shade we actually out speed that's really cool but now out comes Gyarados hydropump knocks me out I'm going to go into Omar here hydropump knocks it out I was just kind of curious if it would slow bro hyperbeam knocks it out and exeggutor it's going to use hyperbeam it's going to knock it out for one of the first battles two out of six isn't bad but we're going to need some new strategies here in the next battle I decid to do what I was going to do in the first battle and to use my slow bro and just boost it to the high heavens we do that eventually it's going to take a really long time for that to happen we get really good luck with sleep and whatnot and we do level up so no badge boosts but we're fully powered up we are paralyzed due to execute we knock it out in one hit Dragon rage Ice Beam isn't doing as much as I'd like which really sucks but Dragon rage oh we get a freeze that's pretty good now we're at level 49 Alakazam goes for psychic my special drops which is annoying doesn't end up mattering because a crit knocks me out anyway now it goes for psychic against Rydon I was hoping it would go for recover or something now I probably have to go into exeggutor here uh I don't know what I'm going to do I decide in the end to go for Gyarados we do get the recover hydropump misses reflect so I'm going to have to go for Dragon rage psychic does knock it out this is unsurprising and now I've got to pick which Pokemon to have next I go into Haunter it's easily knocked out and at this point I know the battle's done anyway honestly I don't think this strategy is going to work but before we try and build up some new Pokemon let's just try it one more time so we're just going to fast forward through the Pidgeot part I apologize that I spend time on the menu this was done during a live stream so I'm often talking to chat which is why I don't do my solo runs on live stream because well it's hard to play as fast as possible when I'm trying to interact with chat so we knock out Pidgeot ryhorn we actually outspeed and knock it out that's due to badge boost XU goes for solar beam we no longer outspeed it we don't knock it out but the Rival uses a potion which is Super Lucky Gyarados goes for Lear I get a crit another Lear this is actually increasing my speed a little bit and then it goes for hyperbeam I survive at 49 HP we level up again Alakazam goes for recover a couple times which doesn't really help I try to go for Ice Beam get that clutch freeze but in the end we actually get Al gazam down to a really low amount of health and executor knocks it out with oh it doesn't a potion a crit okay well that sucked but hey we do knock it out we've made it to the last Pokemon and fire spin misses fire spin just missed guys that means I can send out Gyarados I'm going to go for hydropump it misses twice the third time it hits and there is Ray that is the best thing ah why didn't I just use surf anyway we won this was like a fourth try Victory very encouraging if you wonder why I go for Gyarados I do think Omar is even more useful so I have to map out my experience points don't forget I'm not going to be able to switch up my Pokemon during the Elite 4 so I can't have any of them hit Level 50 you can even see me look at rydon's experience trying to figure out how many it has and make sure I teach its strength this is going to be really really tricky we're probably going to have to exploit the heck out of the good Ai and use a bunch of Pokemon we typically don't use will it be enough to beat the Elite 4 thankfully I can save between members so that's kind of nice but I still have to beat them all and it's going to be a challenge with that said without any further Ado this was Laurel so we're going to use Venom M and that's going to be really helpful why because with a poison Pokemon Duong has to spam rest so that's pretty cool so it doesn't matter which move we use so long as it does some damage you might think we could just swap to exeggutor but we can't we need to keep venomoth in the AI doesn't decide what it's going to do until what you do is registered meaning if I switch to exeggutor it's going to automatically go for Aurora beam so that's fine we can get leech seed up and put it back to sleep or make it put itself to sleep to be more accurate I haven't taught rock slide yet just in case we want to use a different Rock Pokemon but it could be really helpful here I'm in kind of an awkward spot where I cannot lose but it's really hard to win see even though exeggutor was out there since we swapped in venomoth it went for rest now what I think I'm going to do is try and go for psychic and lower its special it doesn't work however and I'm quickly knock out so it's nice that we can kind of cheese this section but I also really need to figure out a way to do real damage to this dong and not just get into the longest stal made ever that dong would actually win well I did figure out a way to beat dong you see it's not just poison Pokemon that Laurel Le will always use rest against it's also fighting Pokémon so we can do the same thing we did before but instead of venomoth it's hitmon Le I haven't actually leveled up hitmon Le yet which we probably have to do I'm just kind of curious if we use all six meditates can we knock out dong before it restores all its HP due to rest that's a key question if not we always can just level it up and then we definitely will unfortunately this requires me not to get a single critical hit cuz if I do well then dong likely will survive thankfully lur goes for a retroactive super potion so we actually knock it out and you can see I had no intention of winning I just wanted to see if the strategy would work and Closter is going to sweep through my entire Team without any issue it doesn't have ice beam cuz it doesn't learn it via level up and against Omar if you're wondering it has clamp so the exact same moves you're used to from before only dong has a new move a better move okay progress but nothing to write home about all right so we level up a bit half an hour and now you can see we have a bunch of new cool moves mes and we're going to use all our meditates we're not even going to bother with exeggutor anymore no need and now we can go for such useful moves as rolling kick and then we can go for double kick or jump kick unfortunately we get a crit which sucks but it doesn't matter we still knock out dugong cloer however we don't do quite enough and Spike Cannon doesn't knock me out thanks badge boost glitch so we actually make it to slow bro unfortunately slow bro unlike what I said before we battled rival 6 I didn't realize lurel Le's Pokémon are going to have different moves and this means slow bro has psychic like it does in Yellow Version and not just Amnesia this is bad because psychic does damage while Amnesia doesn't so now I have to deal with that I can put it to sleep and try to whittle away its HP but unfortunately it's just really powerful and I'm not getting any luck with special drops so that's really annoying oh finally a special drop it does still have Amnesia by the way and that super motion means psychic is likely not going to knock it out which sucks it knocks me out with psychic but thankfully Haunter outspeeds even half its level and we make it to jinx jinx has blizzard though instead of ice punch which is 90 accuracy so that's fun knocks out Haunter goes for thrash this actually is something we can work with here because if Haunter was still around we actually could swap into it instead I'm going to go for Ryon and thanks to some confusion luck we knock out Jinx Lapras however is going to be really really annoying and I have nothing to damage it so I have to reset really close but we're still going to need to change up the strategy maybe different Pokemon maybe leveling up a little more I don't know but right now this isn't going to work because we do need a way to damage Lapras and it does have water move so it's going to knock out Omar very quickly another hour of leveling up we've made it back to lur I mean we always make it back to lur there's nothing to do beforehand you already know what's going to happen versus dong so we can just skip that part Cloister now we have jump kick and thankfully goes for supersonic it's not quite a 2 Koo yet but that's okay we level up to level 45 I go for body slam trying to get as much damage on slow bro as possible it keeps going for amnesia it's a one and two chance of that and I keep getting crits which suck but thankfully it never goes for psychic and we actually knock it out with body slam Jinx goes for body slam and we tank it unfortunately not quite enough to knock out Jinx even with his terrible defense but lur Lee uses a potion so hitmon Lee itself has made it all the way to Lapras Lapras finally takes out hitmon Lee which was on the Run of its life this was really lucky and now we just need to knock out the Lapras slow bro resists Lapras best moves but it still has body slam Lam I go for Surf and that's not going to work uh what do we do here I think we lose I'm going to go for Haunter it goes for confuse Ray hit myself in confusion it goes for confuse oh my God I think it has to go for confus Ray cuz it's a psychic move I'm just going to keep out Haunter yeah oh my I had no idea it worked that way I had no idea look in my face when I realized it I didn't even realize it I was in such tunnel vision I didn't realize that this was a way to cheese the Lapras part holy mackerel finally after like 2 hours we get by Laurel but there's a couple problems here one I don't know how consistent this strategy is but that doesn't really matter since we can save between elite four members it just has to work once the bigger issue is whether the six Pokémon we have now are the six Pokémon we want for the champion or agath it could be yes but it could also be no and if it's no then we might have to redo our lur strategy since there might be other Pokemon we have to use later on but that's a problem for future jros I don't care how high level Bruno's Pokemon are probably going to be a first try Victory let's see if I'm right I'm going to lead with exeggutor he leads with Onyx we actually don't have a grasp move but I can put it to sleep use reflect and oops I didn't mean to do that I meant to use leech seed thankfully the item doesn't work cuz then I would have to reset and it wouldn't technically be a first try Victory very annoying but all is good we're at full HP we knock out Onyx next is Hitmonchan it has ice punch which does way more than I thought it would Bruno goes for X defend which is great cuz it keeps exeggutor around hitmon Lee goes for jump kick we miss with hypnosis the first time but the second time it goes for Focus energy we put it to sleep I use leech seed because why not and now I'm just going to go for psychic sure a little a little greedy but more HP could help Onyx number two comes out it goes for X defend I try to put it to sleep and rock throw this will shock you didn't knock it out initially unfortunately I'm not able to put it back to sleep exeggutor did quite quite well now we got to decide where we want to go next with this I decide hitmon Lee could work hitmon Lee is super effective I get a critical hit without a critical hit it does like nothing I go for jump kick another critical hit rage does a lot we knock out Onyx and here's Machamp I go for body slam I'm trying to paralyze it that'll slow it down making it easier for some my other Pokemon to knock it out it keeps going for Lear it does eventually go for submission but it's almost completely knocked out at this point and I'm just going to go for Ryon go for earthquake and the reason I'm going for Rydon here is just to split up my experience points that's also why I went for hitmon Lee and not slow bro for example better to use the Pokémon I don't foresee being as useful later on because we don't want any of them getting to level 51 you might wonder why not put in a modification so that Pokemon can't level up past level 50 but it's way more fun like this to have that constant fear to know you can't just use Venusaur the whole run Pokemon will have to be switched in and out which makes these runs far more entertaining and in my opinion more strategic also to be quite honest I rather enjoy playing the game with this few mod ifications as possible what's fun to me about challenges like this is it's basically the Pokémon we know and love with one slight change it's cool to see how one change albeit a change that impacts the level of every opposing Pokemon makes such a fundamental difference in how you play this game and really makes this experience feel totally different than anyone I've had up to this point here's where the run is probably going to come to a screeching halt we have Agatha here it goes for Nightshade which does 100 damage confuse Ray Nightshade so exeggutor fainted before it could do anything I'm going to try to put Gengar to sleep I do and now I'm going to swap because I'm confused ryon's going to do great damage with earthquake keep in mind ethers and elixir are not infinite in this game I need to decide when I need to use them I need to be really strategic about it anywh who we get good luck that gbat swaps to Hunter and then we're able to knock out Hunter before it does any damage to us which is great unfortunately when GoBack comes back out it confuses us but we are able to use Rock slide and knock it out before we hit ourselves in confusion Arbok has acid which isn't such a big deal and it looks like Ryon is going to be the key Pokemon versus Agatha Gengar number two goes for Dream Eater and although rockslide takes a couple of hits all Gengar number two does is Spam dream eater and somewhat surprisingly Agatha was a first try Victory which is really really cool but now we have to face Lance Lance could be okay Lance could be okay there is a caveat to that Lance has two Pokemon that are very difficult to cheese Gyarados and Aerodactyl all his other Pokemon can be cheesed by hitmon Le but those other two Pokemon definitely have enough Firepower to knock out my whole team I think we're probably going to make it to the champion here but I don't know if it's going to be a first try Victory let's see I'm going to lead with slow bro because well it has good defense and it resists yeah that didn't really help unfortunately gen one hyperb means it can attack again and it hydrop pumps Omar so now I have to go for exeggutor it goes for Lear and I try to put it to sleep another Lear I do put it to sleep I can use leech seed that's kind of cool and now what do I want to use a hunter I guess we can go for Nightshade actually I'm going to go for confuse Ray it does wake up however doesn't it self in confusion and knocks me out then it's confused no more hypnosis misses but thankfully after Dragon rage it does hit I can try to use reflect but I'm going to go into hitmon Lee here and actually that was a mistake let me go back to exeggutor now that those leers are done I can try to set up reflect wouldn't have mattered critical hit hyperbeam hydropump misses which is kind of cool but it doesn't miss a second time and Gyarados like we talked about is just going to wipe my entire team easy peasy an electric Pokemon probably would help you a little bit but I'm not sure if the Pokemon I have with me can take on this Gyarados which is a problem because the Rival also has one now remember who I said I can save between elite four members I actually didn't do that which makes it really good that we beat Bruno and Agatha on our first tries the reason I didn't save is because I don't want to use up my Elixir and ethers and then be like oh if only we had an electric Pokémon I don't even know if we're going to use one by the way it's just I don't know if these six Pokémon are the six Pokémon to use and I don't want to waste my very precious very hard to acquire PowerPoint restoring items of which there are limited quantity on ideas that are okay but not going to get me through the entire game after some brief leveling up and losing to laury a bunch of times I make it back to Lance in only about 10 minutes which isn't bad this time Gyarados goes for Dragon rage and I'm going to send out Haunter here Haunter has Thunderbolt we don't have an electric Pokemon but we have an electric move and Gyarados cooperates and goes for Dragon rage and this means the game is over I just need to use meditate now and well actually that's not true Aerodactyl can potentially wait a minute no it can't Aerodactyl can't hit Hunter so as long as Haunter doesn't faint we're good Dragon a and Dragonite have to use psychic moves which don't do any damage so that's great and yeah we've made it to Aerodactyl I'm going to try knocking it out with hitmon Lee but o or should I yeah let's do that take down misses that's good supersonic misses take that oh this is great now we just don't want to see barrier cuz it's really annoying unfortunately with barrier it starts to become a really annoying game because if we get crits we lose our Med itate boost but if we don't get crits then barrier thankfully you didn't have to worry we knocked it out quickly and we've made it to the champion for the very first time we're not going to save however because well we did win once so we know we can win again but I don't want to waste my PowerPoint items that means we either win here or we have to do this all over again which like I said it only took 15 minutes and considering how difficult this is that's not bad anyway there's a little bit more menu continuing where I try to restore as many power points as possible but here's the final battle is it going to be the actual final battle we'll see the Rival leads with Pidgeot who has flying type attacks I'm going to try to put it to sleep and I get mirror move that's excellent so I do put it to sleep and that means I can send out exeggutor why is that important cuz I can use leech seed and now I can send out either Rydon or slow bro what do I want to do here let me think about this I'm going to go into slow bro it goes for Whirlwind Lee seed zaps its health and now I'm just going to go for withdraw we've seen the strategy before it can be defeated by Critical Hits and it's good if Pidge goes for withdraw wing attack is fine now I'm going to go for amnesia Sky attack is scary if it crits that would be really really really bad it goes for Sky attack it doesn't crit that's great now we've used all six withdraws so that was only four withdraws we use another another Amnesia and now I think we're fully Amnesia Ice Beam doesn't quite knock it out but it does freeze not a big deal because Pidgeot basically is knocked out anyway and now do we get by the Alakazam Here Comes Alakazam it goes for recover I go for surf only does a third reflect isn't that bad Critical Hits annoying another reflect and it's on just a little bit of Health psychic crits you knew that was going to happen it's very unfortunate and that probably means we lost I'm going to go into exeggutor sbeam I can't hit with hypnosis we get knocked out yeah it's going to require some luck here and psychic is going to knock out Omar nothing's going to be able to stand up to this it's just if it uses recover or something Rydon can't stand up to it him on Lee won't be able oh reflect hey we made it a little bit further that's cool unfortunately a little too late we have high jump kick out comes out right on the only two Pokemon we have are Haunter and hitmon Lee Haunter can't actually be damaged by Ryon I'm going to try to put it to sleep so I can try to use meditate and get hitmon Lee to be as powerful as possible I'm able to get up three meditates before Ryon wakes up high jump kick doesn't knock it out but Lear is good I get a crit take down misses I miss then it goes for Fury attack and I'm knocked out very annoying we actually will knock out r on eventually with two nightshades and now out comes exeggutor which is going to have the same move set we're used to and you know what that means can't hit us it actually can't hit Haunter we just need hypnosis to miss and it always knows when to use it great it missed finally and now we can knock it out eventually with Nightshade it's going to take a really long time and hopefully it doesn't go for a potion because that would really suck since I'd run out of night shades but the champion doesn't unfortunately however we level up to level 51 something thing we're going to have to work around but it doesn't really matter Gyarados knocks us out I'm going to reset anyway we're going to need to have more Pokemon surviving so that Haunter doesn't gain so much experience points but it is a key Pokemon to have Ghost type just so unique so many Pokemon used normal moves this wasn't so so bad but there was quite a bit of luck needed for Alakazam still I mean I can't imagine this taking like five more hours or something well the problem ended up being that getting past Lance was really inconsistent especially because I didn't want to save at any point and risk losing my PowerPoint items if I made a mistake and it just was so so annoying to get past Lance so I came up with a different strategy using dragon air the reason dragon air is so good is because dragon air is a dragon type Pokemon itself and that means Gyarados is forced to use Dragon rage against it unfortunately I can't can't get a Dragonite and you can see me using WP which does like nothing I've already taught Thunderbolt to Haunter and the goal is not actually for dragon air to knock out Gyarados simply to whittle down its HP so that Haunter can knock it out and at this point you've already seen what we're going to do I don't need to stick to this 100% but so long as Haunter is still around for Aerodactyl there actually is no way for Aerodactyl to beat me and so while I do try to make things go a little faster fundamentally hunter gets by all of Lance's remaining Pokemon and eventually can win although it can be really annoying and take a while which is why you see me switching to other Pokemon to try and speed up the process we do win eventually and for the first time in over 4 hours because it takes forever to level up Pokemon and you can see all the Pokemon I have all the power points I have pretty much the same team but Dragon a for Lance instead instead of Omar which could hurt us versus Charizard so that's something to keep in mind hopefully we get to Charizard we got pretty close last time let's see how this battle with the champion goes once again I lead with Haunter which is risky but something very odd happens that at first I couldn't understand what was going on here but I think I understand it now Pidgeot is just using Mir move but Mir move isn't a psychic move I thought it might be but it's flying no what's going on I think is because it used mirror move just randomly turn one and mirror move would mirror a psychic move it is now forced because I guess it is viewing mirror move as hypnosis to keep spamming it and thankfully it never hits but I eventually do so step two of this is the exact same thing he saws last time we're going to try and get as many boosts with slow bro as possible to not only knock out Pidgeot but to try and get bazam unfortunately the exact same thing happens we hit it once and then it gets a clutch critical hit and that might be GG for my team exeggutor looks like after a very clutch reflect it put it to sleep but it wakes up turn one the AL Kazam does and it just sweeps through my entire team meaning I need to try this again unfortunately the strategy is not very consistent because it requires a one in4 chance that Pidgeot uses mirror move or we put it to sleep with hypnosis turn one before it can use Sky attack so not the best strategy but one that will eventually work and hopefully the slow bro part will work as well well it took many many many more attempts to finally have things line up wing attack actually doesn't knock out Haunter which is good and now I'm going to use exeggutor there is a dual function to this leech seed is good for gaining back some HP but realistically the main reason I want to do this is is to split experience points even more so that I can use Haunter more than I otherwise could remember in our first battle Hunter actually leveled out now we're just going to go for withdraw and Pidgeot is cooperating quite nicely with us by the time it uses wing attack it's doing next to nothing it does go for Sky attack but I've used all my withdraws Sky attack does not crit and we're not going to be at full HP for Alakazam probably we're going to be darn near close actually we are going to be at full HP nice Hunter levels up to 50 here's Alakazam sbeam no crit Ice Beam no freeze sbeam no crit Ice Beam no freeze psychic no special drop Surf not knocking it out but it goes for reflect and finally we've made it past the AL gazam with slow bro right on out speeds it goes for Fury attack but I have Max defense we knock it out with surf now out comes exeggutor now remember exeggutor only has hypnosis barrage and and stomp I decide to use surf in case I need to use Ice Beam later and I'm okay if slow bro faints it's not the end of the world I do get knocked out by exeggutor but like we talked about not the end of the world we can sub in Haunter and we do know that eventually ah darn it it healed that really sucks maybe I should have just gone for Ice Beam I think I was being a shade too clever Hunter finally puts exeggutor to sleep and now we need something to knock it out I'm just going to go for night shade cuz I think that is the best Strat and now I'm going to spam hypnosis in anticipation of exeggutor waking up but of course we don't hit when it does and that means we're going to be stuck doing this for a while we put it back to sleep again we use Nightshade it's going to take a couple more and H what do I do trying to think about the next Pokemon you know what let's just knock it out with Haunter and see what happens here Hunter knocks it out but Gyarados gets a Revenge ko. immediately now we can use the dragon air Strat again we have Thunder Wave we have wrap and it has to go for Dragon rage honestly if we were just one level higher it' be great and this could take a really long time I'm going to speed this up a lot eventually I go for blizzard and it knocks me out it's at around 2/3 HP so I go for reflect it's fully paralyzed I go for leech seed it goes for Lear which isn't great I go for psychic it's special foul it again lowers my defense and it seems to just like going for Lear so we knock out Gyarados and now all we have left is Charizard but Charizard will always go for fire blast on executor and that gives me two Pokemon left hitmon Lee and Ry on hopefully it goes for rage it goes for slash we go for rock slide oh my god did we just win no so close so close so so so close guys so close it's it's it's it's going to happen what if I told you it took me a lot longer than you'd think why well watch this successful battle we are probably going to get by Gyarados here we're going to go for Thunderbolt doesn't quite knock it out hydropump misses and level 51 it goes above the level cap so I need to reset I've changed the rules since then that I can level up but then I just have to stop using Haunter altogether but back then I was very strict a Pokemon could never hit Level 51 and that means we need to be really good about splitting our experience points and that introduces just another layer of complexity into already a very luck-based and annoying battle but it will work eventually I just need to keep trying again and again and again and again we've been at this for almost an hour and we're on another good battle once again we get wing attack early but that's okay we're going to swap in our slow bro we're going to knock out Pidgeot and things are going to go well we don't get the freeze on Alakazam but what we do get is good luck no special drops no crits 33 HP now we're going to swap in Haunter put Ry on to sleep and that might seem like a bad idea but it's actually a really good idea because since Ryon is asleep and has tons of HP to spare we actually can fully heal all the Pokemon that have taken damage and that seems to me like a good idea slow bro is also at level 50 so I need to be extremely extremely careful here next comes out exeggutor you already know that Haunter can deal with it but I try to get slow bro to do it and slow bro does do it now we have dragon air which again if I just leveled it up one more it would take one more Dragon rage and things would be nice I try to get a clutch freeze and I don't get it and that means that it looks like the battle's going to be over right wrong wrong somehow and I know we're fast forwarding through this by combination of paralyzing it exeggutor and rydon's rock slide we make it back to Charizard and all we need is for two coin flips to go our way but we don't even get the first one fire blast knocks me out once again we're close we didn't level up this time but it's going to take a few more attempts obviously we're going to battle again and you've already seen this part every single Pokémon here is a problem with the exception of r on every single Pokémon from exeggutor to Gyarados to of course Charizard Pidgeot and especially Alakazam really annoying to deal with we also had a situation where we could have had execute with sleep powder but but to save time I leavea stoned early and we have to use hypnosis you can see me swapping Pokémon a lot and that's for the express purpose of splitting experience points we've talked about how important that is but we're actually going to have r Ryon knock out the Pidgeot if you can believe it Ryon really yes because exeggutor can tank a sbeam and we can put Alakazam to sleep albeit with Incredible luck as it spams reflect three times now we're going to swap in slow bro and we're going to start using Amnesia here it's a little riskier but there is a payoff slow bro didn't gain any experience points from Pidgeot meaning it has more for the rest of the battle and it is one of my best Pokémon so keeping it around really good and we get exceptionally good luck versus Alakazam we knock out Rydon immediately with surf we're now at level 50 exeggutor goes for stomp we don't Flinch and we don't get a clutch freeze I'm going to keep slow bro around and once I swap in Hunter as we've talked about immediately hypnosis is going to come out we need a miss and this is going to take a really long time so let's just fast forward it's going to take a long time just got to wait till one misses and we hit of course it wakes up immediately so we have to wait even more time but we know this is safe and eventually after all this boringness exeggutor knocks itself out via confusion and here comes Gyarados now we send out dragon air it goes for Dragon rage all we need to do is paralyze it we should weaken it a little bit but man is it annoying to use wrap and take off 1 HP at a time eventually though dragon air faints we're going to send out exeggutor and use leech seed we even get off a psychic it goes for L and misses and hyperbeam hits but Gyarados is not in a good spot right now I'm going to swap in Haunter and we can beat it without leveling up I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure we did it I'm going to go for confuse raid just in case and you know what I'm going to swap and hit mon Le here it goes for hydropump and that really sucks I'm going to go for slow bro and then swap in Haunter it goes for Dragon Rage that's really lucky and now 100% we can beat it and not level up and now out comes Charizard Charizard we needed to cooperate with us and here was the secret strategy I plann this whole time if slow bro is still around and usable Charizard has a one and two chance of going for rage and now Ryon will be able to easily knock it out with two Rock slides that's why we needed slow bro I didn't want to spoil the big Strat but that is the way I was able to defeat Pokemon Red and Blue where all my opponents were at level 100 this was one of the coolest things I'd ever done but all I could think about was the fact that if the AI was just a little better this probably wouldn't be possible it's not as if there are other games available for me to try this out in if you want to see this in gold and silver or Generation 3 let me know and maybe one day it'll be here until then I'm going to work on some more videos take care
