I Found an Auto Repair Shop That's Better Than Mine

your engine today I'm talking about an interesting concept I found a do-it-yourself car repair place maybe you don't have the tools you need or even all the knowledge you can rent space and also as guys to help you out they even have classes to help teach you if you're interested in I gotta say this brings me back to my childhood when I worked in my father's Texaco gas station where there's lips it doesn't get a lot easier but we're gonna my driveway for over four decades and hey sometimes something like this it's pretty big blessing when you're working on a car you don't have to worry about doors there's a nice slip on scanner that they let you use you can read left jab there's a gas tank they pulled the gas tank down don't worry up there this is not a job you want to do in your driveway let me tell you I've done them jacking up in a drive they drove me nuts you got a lift a passion of jacks makes a lot easier job they provide tools but you're not gonna have air tools they're compressed occur on them reams of tools that you don't have to buy their right hands them here they even have a front of the line machine let's say you did front end work on your cars of course it's gonna need to be realigned now there's really no way that you're gonna know how to operate one of these front end alignment machines are going to take a long time years a'practice but they have guys here that can do it for you for a very good price so it's not having a new the wart one place and then go to a friend and I'm a chop to get it realign you did all in one place only makes sense this machine cost $17,000 so I don't think you're gonna pull one in your backyard anytime soon some things it's better if someone else buys them say well change you know they got a deal here once a week work they let you change it for free if you bring their own filter you really want to deal with that old oil guess what they're gonna deal with it for you you don't have to deal with the mess it's just watching here in the way it goes let's say you gotta pull transformation they got a nice solid transmission jacks I really want to go buy one of these either when you're done they just roll it away your wife won't be screaming at you cuz you filled your garage full of tools that you hardly ever use now you want to keep things legal when you work on your car to work on air conditioner system you need Cortlandt that recycles the stock they got the equipment here you don't have to buy it there have to get the license form they will put it on for you and evacuate the system you don't have to worry about oh you did the work but then oh you don't have the equipment to evacuate it and fill it up right they've got all that equipment in these places they got drill set ups they even have mig welders maybe an auto well but you don't have a welder core they can do welding for you something gets in a pinch you need welding done think you're doing right here you don't say oh and I gotta tow my car over somewhere else as the sign says we fix it you fix it or we fix it together oh yeah sometimes things have just gone too far in the case of the skeleton frame and it's simply in the weeds and the leaves on the side sometimes yes it is time to say goodbye like this Camaro body in the weeds it's just a shell of its former self they can tell you when it's time to say goodbye and not go too far or that it needs too much work for what you want to spend you get an expert opinion here - not just lucky alone in a garage good fix it yourself no that's not on these places work no you shouldn't be intimidated by auto repairs let's do the story about a woman who came into work on the wrong time yes what normal thing was Miss Jessica it might affect it was yesterday she came into our soft location and she had a Nissan Q which which was turbo and so she wanted to change her spark plugs so she was kind of nervous in things she was doing could do it but if you know the right tools and equipment is it's I mean it's really eat it's not it's hard to do that so she was able to take a turrible wall change the spark plugs and she saved about 400 bucks doing it and she was happy and she felt accomplished Haney's days everybody lives on their phone and looking at Facebook actually doing some where their hands Hey you do get a sense of accomplishment what you say money and of course you're you northern boys Heat all kinds of heat you're not gonna freeze to death working on your car outside and of course for all the people that live in apartment complexes I don't let you work on your cars in a parking lot this is like Nirvana for you a place you could work on your car people will help you if you need help and you won't get screamed at by the manager cuz you're working on your car in the parking lot plus the doors closed at night it's a safe place the store your car if it needs extended water so whether you don't need any help at all you just need a great place to work on cars oh you might need a little help they do have classes we'll help you out while you work on your car here just do it yourself auto repair business pretty interesting idea if you ask me cuz you can pick what you want you do it you need assistance the door I call you trying to didn't work they'll do it for you you have to - can't or you don't have to buy the hand tools guys my welder or an alignment machine hey there's big advantage of sharing things together if you want to save money and either fix it yourself or fix them with a little assistance maybe our god I can handle all this but you're probably gonna need a little help on this one just let the tools accumulate someone else's garage and use them when you need them and here are some bonus questions and answers kidding it's a Scotty what's your opinion of all xc90 vote makes changes every year their cars has they gotten better understand fall fall it's not owned by the Chinese and they say that they're only gonna be making electric and hybrid electric cars from now on it would not make sense to buy one of their vehicles that's either a gasoline or a diesel engine because eventually they're not gonna make on they're not gonna support parts for them and they are expensive vehicles to work on if you could get one that's low mileage dirt cheap it could be good for a few years I got customers wertham that bought used ones that got a good price on them and they are running ok don't look at something like that for the real long run cuz they're not gonna be makin any more the Chinese aren't that interested in that technology they want to make a hybrid electric and electric car for Volvo so if you're stuck with a gasoline or diesel version of them huh it's gonna fade away as time goes on so you know I or something better like Toyota or Honda that they're gonna be supporting them for a long time where that yeah when they start changing ownerships and they say well we're gonna make electric cars now my advice is I'd stay away from those company for a conventional car Billy doesn't know squat says I got 2016 Chevy Silverado v8 it's leaking about a quart of oil every four thousand miles seems to be between the engine and transmission when it's dripping what should I do well sad but true let's just say they don't make them like they used to it's may only be a four year old vehicle but they've had problems with those things with the rear main engine seal that's between the engine and the transmission where it bolts in unfortunately the only way you can change those things you're gonna have to pull the transmission off have the rear main engine seal replace it's a very expensive job now just to make sure put some UV leak dye into the engine and have somebody do that if you don't want to do it and if you see that green dye is coming out between the engine and transmission drip and where they're bolted together and dripping on the bottom it's the rear main oil sale and unfortunately it's a design flaw with those things and they will wear out that faster you don't make them like too used to as a kid we had a Chevy to have 200,000 miles still had the original engine oil seal on it but they just don't make them like they used to an odds are that's what's wrong with that truck but the diet have a check that if it is now you could try some of that 8205 reseal sometimes it'll make the seal stop leaking give it a try mini bottles like 1295 worth to try at least but since that's kind of a design flaw those things I probably won't last maccabee SS Scotty I'm looking at 2016 t LX 3.5 based with 55,000 miles for nineteen thousand there's a record of engine replaced 55 point one thousand miles should I steer clear yes you have no idea why the engine was replaced and what fifty five point one and out is fifty five point eight on x engines get replaced because the cars were flooded you don't want to buy a flood car I have customers bought flood cars and they thought oh great it's running and then a year to later all the electronics go out and the car is basically unfixable without spending more money than the vehicles worth you get a major flaw like that run a way renault don't buy that thing know who knows what the history of it why did it need the engine replaced hey could be maybe the people never change to go out what's in change the oil they didn't mean to anything else either yeah I'd walk away from that one that's a good red flag you say no where you go Jay Nelson 86's well an obd2 scan tool work well that I'll be do you want some as long as I have the appropriate adapter Thanks well you know that's a very good question because back in a shelf here I have a few of those and I have to admit that most of them don't work they're obd2 scan tools and they also have adapters to use on obd one and for my experience they're generally total crap and they don't do much because they're designed for the new cars and the adapters half the time they don't even fit on right and then you put them on and they don't read right I found that you know they really don't work all that well now you're talking about obd one you know let's stop the 1994 right so that was a long time ago if you got a car with obd one heck color bay look around buy an old you snap-on scanner or something they don't go for any money nowadays and you can use that to read the data on obd one and realize the problem obd one is it doesn't have much data to read so you're not gonna get all that much information out of in the first place but you can go and get something they can old snap-on one or a standalone like act Ron made stand-alone obd ones for its particular companies you find one of those old scanners buy at the cheap enough now but if you do try one of these modern ones and it says there's an adapter for my experience they're not really worth trying because half the time when I tried it they wouldn't even connect they'd say no communications I live in Queens and there's a spot around the corner from me. They have an official repair station sign, but it's as close to a fly-by-night operation as you're going to get.

Good luck. Too much liability. I researched doing this in 2001. No one will rent space. Too expensive to buy your own place to sublet. Insurance? HA! Will never happen. Not to mention people stealing tools and what not, cars falling from lifts, etc. I had a group of friends that did a rental where all 4 had their own space but only good if you plan on working on your own car a lot. I changed a starter in my driveway in 6inches of snow. It builds character.
