welcome ladies and gentlemen back to trail makers and today we're going to be playing with some bay blades again but uh we're doing a little bit of a twist on beyblade this time we're going to be trying to make a flying beyblade which on the surface the flying beyblade seems doable the challenge is going to be actually getting beyblades to fight in the air because normally with a beyblade you just let her rip in a pre-made beyblade arena that is actually slanted in towards the middle so they eventually are forced to collide with each other but up in the air uh you don't have contact with the ground to force that so i'm going to attempt to create a manually controllable beyblade that you could actually send it in the direction that you're facing and that's going to be my way of hitting beyblades together so it's definitely going to be a challenge engineering something like this but i have some ideas and if they work i'll be very happy and if they don't yeah this might be a failure of an episode which um it's not unheard of it's happened before i've had ideas that did not work out let's see if this is going to be one of them so the first challenge of this is creating something that will fly steadily at a certain height i'm going to have that part be automatic i want the beyblades to essentially try to stay level at a certain height which we can use with sensors and gimbal jet gimbal jets and it shouldn't be too hard and the other challenge of this is uh if we want to be able to go in a certain direction we need to be able to separate the spinning mechanism from our thrust mechanism because if we're just spinning around in circles there's no way you're going to be moving in the direction that you want to go because all of your force would just be canceled out in a circle but i have ideas for this and that idea involves the helicopter engine here so what this allows us to do is uh this center part will spin on this engine but this top part will stay stationary like if this stuff doesn't work out then um i don't know if there's other options to be honest i'm just betting everything on this right now all right so let's start with designing our beyblade edge with the thing that's actually going to be responsible for hitting your foes and your opponents all right let's see if what i built here is duplicatable on all sides oh this is actually looking like i built it the perfect dimensions oh look at that that doesn't look too bad does it it kind of looks like lightning bolts to be honest i don't like how it gives a square look on the interior here i kind of want a better shape on the inside all right i think that looks a little bit better i just put an extra wedge piece on the sides here so that i like this this actually looks pretty cool should i paint them yellow this is going to be like a lightning bay blade all right now let's see if this thing actually works as intended so far so if i press shift yeah that's it right there that is a beyblade this is gonna be a really interesting beyblade too alright so that's gonna be how the beyblade spins so now i need to make this thing uh i need to make it fly i forgot about the flying part didn't i all right so i'm gonna try to engineer this in a way that as you take damage and lose these lightning bolts you actually lose the ability to keep yourself up in the air so each one of these is going to have a gimbal jet attached to it so then you start losing your gimbal jets as you take damage all right so the gimbal jets have been installed now i need to be able to control this thing in the air have it go forwards and turn this is where some big brain needs to come in so my method is going to be to have one of these that can turn all the way around and hold position and on top of it is going to be mini thrusters all right so let's see if this works as intended so as this spins that should stay in place and i can control exactly where it's facing at any point in time and press w to activate the thrust all right yeah that seems like it's actually gonna work all right and then i copied a version down at the bottom as well i just hope that they stay in line with each other it looks like they are yeah all right so that should kind of even our center of thrust a little bit alright so design wise i feel like we're almost there so i'm just going to add a weight on the bottom and that way the gimbals will keep us facing upright and i think to end it off we just put uh where's the cone there we go we put a cone to give it the top feel okay so now i just have to program this thing to levitate at a specific height so with that obviously we need an altitude sensor i'm gonna set it to 10 meters for now just so that it doesn't take us long to test it out so if we are below 10 meters we are going to trigger these ones and let's see is that enough to lift us up already oh we're at 103 by that thing's at 103 meters what is this all right let's set it at uh 130 meter am i misunderstanding what these measurements are oh wait wait wait wait wait wait wait okay there we go so now at 130 meters it's gonna try to keep us there oh what happens if i do this all right we are stable that's nice all right we do tilt down a little bit when i do the oh what huh huh interesting okay i think i've got all the basic functionality down this is gonna add a really interesting third dimensional element to beyblade so when i press space everything should activate i set the current height to 115 so as you can see we go above 115 but that's because this thing is kind of like just a little bit negatively buoyant and what that allows to happen is um it's going to fall more slowly and then once it gets below it'll kind of recover so it's going to be bouncing up and down which essentially means that you're going to have to time yourself with the uh with the enemy as you're kind of navigating your way around the battlefield so to speak um and i am trying to figure out how to get uh i want to even this out a little bit when it comes to the force i don't know exactly how to do that it seems to be it seems to be kind of affected by the centripetal force generated by the spinning i don't know why it should be equal they should cancel each other out but even though there's more weight on the bottom the center of thrust seems to be indicating that it's below the center of mass which doesn't make any sense to me at all so tilting is fine though beyblades tilt when they're spinning i don't see a problem with it oh i know what the issue is the issue is my seat controls i forgot that the seats do the thing so we're going to go go to disable air control and now ah there we go now we're much flatter as we boost ourselves around this is great man those pesky seat controls are always so easy to overlook when you don't want them all right i think this might be possible this might actually be like a real thing i'm just going to add some design a little bit of design elements to the top of it just so that it doesn't look like this random control panel is attached on here all right i think this is good enough i put the uh the trill makers logos on the front there that is so you can actually tell which way your beyblade is facing because otherwise it'd be very very difficult to uh navigate around here all right this thing is basically ready for battle now but doing a flying beyblade bladdle dab dab it's really hard to say doing a flying beyblade battle all by yourself is uh it's not really very fun so i'm actually going to invite cosmo in so that i can actually have someone to fight against and we can see how this feels doing a three-dimensional flying beyblade battle all right hey cosmo thank you for joining me you're welcome how's it going it's going good i got something to show you i've been working on something and i wanted to show you what it is so here it is um so this is this is a new type of beyblade that i've invented uh if you hop in you hop in and press space you'll see what it does all right let's go there you go yeah so i'm gonna spawn one and two yep does it stop at a certain height uh yeah it's supposed to be around like 115 it'll go up and down though um it's a little bit strong at first but it starts to settle down but there it is wasd controlled so you can go whatever direction you want just keep those uh the keys are the front so you can always use those as your guide this thing is completely unbattled tested it has not been tested in battle at all and i wanted you to help me test it and see if this thing even works hey man i'm down let's give it a go all right you ready yep all right let's just do it not even a countdown let's just go for it do it let's do it the tough part is this close it's going to be the we have no control over our vertical height it's just automatic up and down oh my goodness oh oh oh oh oh oh wow we didn't there's any parts no we didn't oh this is a good one oh somebody lost oh i lost you did i lost parts yeah so as you lose um the gimbal jets are actually attached to your spinning bits gotcha so you should have uh less and less ability to keep yourself in the air as we battle and take parts off oh that was a bad one from for both of us it looks like that was yeah that was rough all right let's see oh this is i'm surprised you're still up in the air i may need to adjust the strength of these things that's pretty that's a lot of damage oh oh no you took me down oh wait no i'm going flying away now you took my logic off we both kind of lost that one yeah i'm like just hovering just above ground so i would say so all right we'll declare that when i draw you don't wanna um add some paint to yours so that you look a little bit different than me just so we can uh distinguish a little bit better all right so that was a tie it looks like uh now you've painted yourself up here fancy some fancy colors uh so let's just do best two out of three whoever gets two victories wins that was just our test round now this thing is battle tested it seems to actually work that's good all right you're ready yup let's do it all right three two one let's get up in the air all right let's go battle and engage oh man oh man that was a rough start for me i'm already wobbling oh oh oh oh i didn't touch the ground i'm still see i feel like some of the strategy is um trying to time it so you can actually like take off their control center at the top yeah like yeah that's true that's a good point jackhammered on top of it yeah oh that did not that was not a good one for me i'm still wobbling more than you are though yeah you are okay come on oh oh oh that was weird i just kind of bounced off the top of you there oh no oh no oh i thought you were gonna get my uh my system my control center going for the decapitation move oh man this is weird i keep thinking we're going to hit and we keep missing yeah it's so odd oh oh oh there we go that was a hit oh wow another one another one yes yes oh i'm oh wait wait oh i touched no i'm not dead i'm still up i think i'm dead dude i'm so dead uh let me yeah i am still i'm up i'm still going i am still going all right that's one i would victory call what i was doing still going i am surprised i am really surprised that that thing maintained that uh i think i had like three gimbals so yeah you're really gonna take off like all of them it seems like all right you ready for i got one victory so if i win this one it's over you can tie it up here though are you ready sounds good yep let's give it a go three two one go oh my god oh my god mine's broken wait wait here's a broken tube oh my god oh my goodness let's uh let's backspace just press backs but yeah all right three two one go all right there we go oh oh we got light contact uh huh gotta wait for the uh the height altitude sensors down so much after that yeah i keep i keep forgetting which way is forward i keep forgetting to look for the t's right yeah ooh that was my blocks oh yeah that was you oh i got a little bit now too no oh oh that one wasn't a whole lot of damage on that one no not a whole lot of damage at all oh almost got some of your a couple of pieces off but nothing essential from your control panel there that's crazy i'm already at a disadvantage yeah you're losing a lot a lot more pieces yup now we're just kind of dancing we're just on like opposite uh opposite up and down yeah like oscillation cycles oh let's go close that could have been a lethal attack another lethal attack let's go are you still up are you still able to look oh yeah it looks like you're still up man this is not looking good for both of us oh man i'm having a hard time like oh oh wait a minute how are you i don't know man are you up [Laughter] oh oh it's hard to tell if you're actually able to keep yourself up or not i don't know i mean i don't think you can get yourself to the designated altitude anymore what's the designated altitude 115 wasn't specified in the rulebook well i mean the the altitude sensors keep you there but it looks like you're stuck on the ground i think you're grounded i can still hit you though actually if i time it right i don't know all right man coming in oh yeah i don't know i can't get down to you anymore [Laughter] oh wait no i can't i can turn my gimbals off all right oh okay that didn't work out that well i guess uh here we go okay yeah we're both dead now but i think you were grounded already fair enough fair enough i was hoping for for a redemption round but i'll take it yeah i guess they had the host advantage there even though they're pretty much identical builds exactly it's the blue man it's just the less dense material i know yeah it's the colors i got the darker material the darkness makes it more dense that's what uh that's what helped me get the victory there yeah that's science see yeah black it just has more colors which makes it heavier you have to put all the colors in to make black that's the flying bay blade it works thanks for helping me test it out and confirm that it works yeah it was fun well i hope you guys enjoyed this if you did you'll definitely check out some other stuff on the channel that you can see on the end screen right here also going to sub the cosmo for helping me out check out his videos too and uh we'll see you guys in the next video bye [Music]
