foreign [Music] the scope of berserk's impact is immeasurable a grimdark fantasy in which the hero's journey catapults through the struggles of tragedies and brutality for the longing of desirable hope an interpretation bound to the realistic grips of unrelenting resilience was always guaranteed to implore significance perhaps intimidating to read for many yes but a message definingly buoyant in the face of a desecrated medieval environment a sense of meaning so relatable when paralleled to our own world seeked by tribulation whilst it's a story containing the upsetting matters of excessive sadism graphical horror and sexual violence in its Bleak and desolate dystopia kentro Miura filters this despair with conceivable hope glimmers and moments of catharsis there's a fulfillment in defying adversity or even the acceptance of facing irreversible trauma that makes gutsy's struggles meaningful despite everything its sincerity towards hope allows for the narrative's in durability similar to Miura I'm not a fan towards the unhopeful nor ending a story with defeated abject misery in fictional stories to quote miura's own words I actually don't think I could let such a long Grim story end with a grim ending I don't really like that kind of entertainment perhaps it's his adoration and influence of Shoujo Manga a demographic that lacks hesitation in exploring its main character's feelings and favoring the emphasis of social relationships that tips berserk over the edge of simple typicality but recognized as an Untouchable Legacy contribution to media literacy is seen across a varying list of influences a cultural impact of such a Paramount degree that even non-readers will recognize guts's appearance and the Legacy the manga beholds it's not afraid to explore principles of fragility towards characters conventionally void of search the character of guts embodies a multifaceted approach in defying traditional masculine values whilst displaying genuine messages in coping with grief and to only further its deserving Calabar the Artistry is a Triumph in itself the sheer level of detailing clearly sets apart its distinction and complements the textual storytelling but it's the technique and style of his more realistic rendering that is alluring to the eyes for me with an homage to emcee esh's work that consists of precise mathematical detailing berserk follows this style with the Precision of every stroke every feature and every panel the woodcut shading creates a constant barrage of enclosement and bounding of claustrophobic Darkness emphasizing those sparse yet strident moments of pure openness even more it truly encapsulates the divisional perspectives of fear and strength a contrast making every spread look overwhelmingly mesmerizing yet so impactful and inviting it's what finally convinced me to read upon the inviting journey of the Black Swordsman and experience the highly commendable world of Berserk having read and finished up the Golden Age Arc I'd given the manga an opportunity to breathe to establish and deliver visual literature that bled proficient captivation from page to page I appreciated the complexity of Griffith and guts's relationship the most for what started as a recruitment formed by Fascination led to an established Duo recognized globally as an intertwined Dynamic tethered in thematic differences but unrelentless complicated respect that being said the resulting catch is I didn't like berserk but I also didn't dislike it either I found myself in a stagnant position of acknowledging its big Feats and the prose that made its storytelling so engaging but for whatever reason not falling in love like I wanted to any and all series can be criticized no media is too high on a pedestal for judgment to be outreached and yet I had no negative observations in mind for berserk nor any valuable commentary that hadn't already been discussed on YouTube ultimately the most eloquent and profoundly professional way of concluding my thoughts on berserk was that it just wasn't for me and that me a statement for some is seen as an insult being unable to justify your unliking through a list of defenses to vindicate one's opinion despite having nothing against the series isn't deemed enough and it's for this reason the descriptive's worst and best are so often overused on social media nothing can just be great or wholesomely average it has to be either the finest delicacy towards Artistry ever known or something discouraged from the grips of hell and viewed Unforgivable of course those keywords admittedly get clicks and Views they summon two ideals Humanity's resolve to see their opinion validated or conversely to masochistically hate watch and become increasingly upset by something they signed up for there are some who stay open-minded to an opposing opinion but they stay a much smaller ratio than the latter unfortunately in fact when I publish this video's thumbnail to Discord Twitter and YouTube there was an eruption in applauding my bravery or Worse fearing for my comment section and the vitriolic hatred I'd receive the predicted backlash I too are more than expecting this idea of talking about berserk in anything other than positivity is the equivalent of stepping on a landmine something that should have been avoided with caution but dramatically explosive if ever approached or stepped upon some people aren't able to take criticism for something they love or begrudgingly find it difficult to accept hence this Collective hive mind of defensive hatred that creates an anxiousness in constructive criticism or even out of the box thoughts that could make for interesting conversations the exploration of criticism is worthy of a completely different video to clarify I'm not supportive of verbal abuse and obligatory disguised as criticism because I don't deem that as criticism it's mostly cloaked discrimination I'm talking about discussions towards the consensus of constructive criticism versus deconstructive criticism that would make for an interesting video as an example but this video is introducing and imparting the feelings of indifference specifically positive indifference an emotion I believe to be more interesting and less discussed though I will point out the reputation certain fandoms have in regards to constructive criticism or indifferent opinions is pretty bizarre to me people shouldn't have to be afraid to say something wasn't for them it's completely valid reasoning especially if the person is still able to see the merits and why others do like it yet this topic at hand isn't just restrictive to berserk but rather any popular media which carries itself within a highly regarded reputation some deem above judgment or the overall idea of indifference its happenstance this video utilizes berserk specifically it's the most recently acclaimed Mangrove read where its reputation precedes itself I read whilst acknowledging its weight of mass appreciation and the hearts of millions it has touched reading berserk was a journey to abstain from the pressures of adoring a story that presents a disguised appearance of complete death and Decay that surprisingly enriches itself in the Delicacies of battling for survival and purpose through the persevering need to find something worth living for it's a mixture of frustration and disappointment then to not fall in love with this story as strongly as others knowing full well it's something I should enjoy but my brain apparently says otherwise it hits all the right formulas isn't too far from my enjoyment of other stories and has distinctive artwork I analyze for its effective utilization of value and contrast ultimately though I felt no insistent need to continue reading nor any obligation in catching up towards the current releases berserk is a large manga and free time is pretty selective after work and YouTube time is precious and I'd rather spend it on reading manga I'm more keen on with these thoughts in mind I felt this was the perfect opportunity to relay upon a lesser explored topic many will coincide and concur as the feelings of apathy towards media is far more current than it seems indifference can be met with negative connotations an unbothered approach resulting in Detachment something Others May see as an uncaring attitude contrary my own indifference towards berserk is more in line with positivity all things considered as I said before I don't have any dislikes towards berserk no critiques that delayed my reading or deterred my love for miura's art in fact the first half of this video was my notings toward its merits because I'd still be interested in listening to people's thoughts on the series would watch analysis videos dissecting varying topics and understandably agree when others give this manga compliments the only Mata I'd point out if being very pedantic Which is far too late in the game now and not miura's wrongdoing but perhaps a suggestion other English Publications could take note from is the considerations towards notifying content warnings in fairness the manga does have labeling on its back cover cautioning its mature themes but to give a clearer example a warning was written before chapter 49 in which Atelier cautioning readers towards specific darker themes some wouldn't want to view and informing audiences that it's possible to skip without fear of losing plot progression for berserk excessive themes are prominent throughout of which I'm not opposed to when done correctly but can be jarring or triggering for some when no specific warnings are given especially when said content is on the first few pages the consideration towards clearer content warnings would not only be appreciated but prevent some readers feeling discomfort or worse in particular the specifics of what makes it a mature story is not stated is it strong language nudity horror violence sexual violence for many these can give differing degrees of discomfort but that's as constructive as I could be in regards to this Behemoth of a story berserk is one of the most highly requested manga for this Channel and whilst it may not be the video expected I'm hoping it's one that opens the door towards the discussion of indifference that it is completely fine to neither like or dislike something and admit it just wasn't for you that shouldn't be seen as a controversial opinion or something to Rally up thousands of belligerent Defenders because ultimately I didn't like berserk but I didn't dislike berserk it just wasn't my cup of tea and in my eyes that's a perfectly reasonable justification hey guys thank you for watching to the end of the video I'm assuming if you've reached the very end of the video you're someone who potentially kept an open mind when seeing my thumbnail and seeing me discuss my topic in the video so I appreciate it a lot that you actually stayed to the end to hear my thoughts I know for a fact that the comments section is going to probably look absolutely disgusting I'm not gonna lie I'm kind of expecting it but um I'd love to hear your guys's thoughts the people who stayed to the end of the video how you felt about the topic that I talked about because it's not something that I see very often and I'd love to know if there are people like you who might also have manga or a show or a film that I really really liked and you tried it but you just felt indifferent about it I'd love to hear your thoughts about that and as usual I'd love to give a massive thank you to my patrons who continue to support me month by month I appreciate you guys a lot and with that I will be catching you in the next one foreign
