my name is lily and i think we've all done some pretty embarrassing things in our life right only mine was something i could forget and before you ask no i didn't trip in the mud or run into a door it's a long story so allow me to explain i was in my 20s when i decided to download a dating app i was lonely and needed some company not wanting to find anything serious this was not your normal dating app you could not see their picture and only a short description in their bio i decided to go by my middle name ellie since that is what i prefer to go by that night when i was getting ready for bed a notification popped up on my screen and my heart dropped i didn't think anyone would message me it was my first time on the app and i sent my first message to them i was so nervous i didn't know what to expect since i had been out of the dating scene for a while his name was andy and we hit it off real quick we messaged each other all day every day for one week but here's where it gets messed up he told me he was married i know he said he was very unhappy it was a mix of emotions i didn't know how to feel after i found out i was not interested in him anymore and we stopped talking for the following days and i had more messages coming through keeping me company but none of them were interesting enough i began to think of andy and the connection we had it was nice and i missed him so i messaged him again i shouldn't have some time passed and it was thanksgiving we had the whole family over it was so nice to see them we hugged and chatted my uncle andrew my favorite uncle sat opposite of me he was so funny and always put a smile on my face any time i saw him i was having a lot of fun with my family and hoped andy was having a nice time with his family so i texted him and my uncle's phone pinged it seemed to be a coincidence so i didn't think anything of it but here's where it gets very interesting my uncle leaned over and grabbed his phone to answer whoever messaged him and my aunt peered over his shoulder and blew up she said who the hell is that and the table went silent now is not the time to accuse my uncle of cheating i just wanted to sit here and enjoy my family's company and the delicious food without any drama my uncle continued to say it was only a friend but my aunt did not believe it at all the house was full of yelling between my aunt and uncle i was expecting that once my aunt had that deadly look on her face when she spotted his phone after minutes of arguing my aunt was fed up and stormed out of our house and never came back that day it's a shame our thanksgiving started and ended like that it was only a matter of time where andy and i would have a date that following week after all we texted a lot on thanksgiving and couldn't stand not seeing each other's faces i was so excited and also nervous but mainly excited because i found someone i clicked with and wanted to see more of that day i picked out a cute sundress and put on light makeup and curled my hair i looked good i would say i needed to get out and escape all the family drama between my aunt and uncle i hoped they were getting help for their marriage i don't want them to get divorced we arranged our date at a downtown coffee shop and surprised i saw my uncle what a coincidence we greeted each other and hugged i asked him how him and his wife were and he said things were still rough and he wasn't sure if they would be fixed i then proceeded to tell him that i was waiting for someone on a date and he said he was waiting for a friend we stood there together awkwardly as time passed and neither of our people showed up i thought he was running late so i texted him where are you he replied rather quickly and said he was there waiting for me i was confused because it was only my uncle and me at the shop i looked all around and i didn't see anyone i texted him again because he could have been playing a prank on me but he said he was there i called out andy quickly the look on my uncle's face turned from blank to sheer panic it was then and there where my uncle and i realized what had just happened maybe the most awkward thing to happen ever but we never spoke of it again and it would never be brought up from either of us we were both so grossed out and now i'm haunted with a horrible memory that i still think about to this day what were the chances of me meeting my uncle on a dating app one in a million you would think but no this happened and i could not erase all the memories of us together in those moments safe to say i will be staying off dating apps for a very long time because apparently i could run into family members on there and i do not need this happening again yuck my uncle and i never spoke about the incident again to each other and didn't dare speak about it to any of the family we both learned to laugh about it but it was still the most awkward moment ever hi there my name is max and this is my story of it began when i had to take my daughter lisa to the hospital she had always been a strong healthy child who rarely got any illnesses which is why we were immediately worried when she started getting sick we decided it would be best to take her to the hospital for a checkup when we got there i went up to the receptionist and told him we had an appointment the man behind the desk was acting a bit strange he was completely blase and dismissive about the whole thing until he checked my daughter's records then he started to take an interest he asked me if this was lisa's first visit to the hospital if she'd been having any trouble with her organs how good her immunity was i figured they were all standard questions so i told him that lisa was a very healthy girl and this was the first time she'd really gotten sick the man seemed excited by the news and the question he asked next completely caught me off guard has she ever thought about signing up for organ donation he asked organ donation i asked rather weekly it wasn't what i had been expecting to say the least yes the receptionist said shaking his head with apparent fervor from her records your daughter looks like she would be a perfect candidate she's very healthy and has good immunity so she would respond well to the transfer i'm sorry but no i said firmly her organs could save someone's life i'm sorry but she's simply too young my tone was final and i turned away from the receptionist his face had gone a full shade of red now and he was gritting his teeth as though holding back anger i quickly took my daughter and wife and ushered them up to the waiting room feeling the receptionist's unnerving eyes on us the entire time the doctor came to examine my daughter took some blood tests and then informed us a few hours later that she was most likely anemic and he wanted to keep her in for further observation she got settled into her own room and my wife and i reassured her everything would be fine it just meant that she had low oxygen levels in her blood but could be easily rectified i got settled into the chair by the bed while my wife went to get some snacks from the vending machine she came back shortly after looking somewhat dazed but told me it was nothing when i asked what was wrong after that i ended up falling asleep i can't be sure how long for but when i woke up the room felt wrong i was still sleepy so i sat up and rubbed my eyes looking around that's when i noticed what was wrong i was alone the hospital room was empty neither my daughter or wife were there my first thought was that maybe a doctor had come by and requested to see lisa again but surely they would have woken me up or i would have heard them speaking i wasn't usually such a heavy sleeper so it was strange for me not to have woken up then i realized there was a strange taste in my mouth something almost chemical i started to panic going through the possible scenarios had someone sedated me and taken my family had they been kidnapped i rushed out of the room and hurried down to the nurse's station down the hallway asking if any of them had seen my wife or daughter the nurses gave me a strange look telling me they'd seen nobody leave or enter the room which didn't make any sense surely someone would have seen something where had they gone who had taken them leaving the nurses i went in search of the doctor who had been assigned to my daughter asking if he'd had them transferred to a different room he had no idea where they were either but the weird thing was he hardly seemed concerned he just shrugged and said maybe they'll come back soon and that was that but i knew something was wrong they wouldn't have left without saying anything i went back to the room and decided to wait but i noticed other things i hadn't before the bed was made as though my daughter had never been in it to begin with and there were none of our personal effects my wife's coat was missing and the food she had bought at the vending machine i waited there a couple of hours but they still didn't come back something strange was definitely going on i decided to alert security then and ask if they might be able to help me locate my family but even they seemed completely dismissive of my worries they told me there wasn't much they could do and no way to find out where my family had gone but they barely even tried they did no investigation no questioning it was like they just didn't care i didn't understand what was happening or why my family had disappeared in a hospital of all places surely it would be difficult to kidnap someone in a hospital full of witnesses so why had nobody seen anything and why was nobody helping me that's when i remembered the strange receptionist and the interest he had taken in my daughter i went to the hospital's reception to try and find him again but he wasn't there when i asked one of the other staff if they knew where he was all of them were as clueless and dismissive as everyone else i had asked it was clear nobody was going to help me it was up to me to find my family angry and confused i went back up to the hospital room surely there must be something in there to suggest where they had gone if nobody had seen them leave the room then perhaps they never had it was a long shot but perhaps there was another way to get patients out of the room some sort of secret passage i tried every single thing i could pushing each button on the equipment and moving things around but i could see nothing unusual the thing that bothered me most though was the bed why was the bed freshly made had someone taken the time to quickly fix the sheets despite risking that i might wake up any second i gave the bed another look over and found something strange underneath it there were ridges in the carpet almost as though there was something beneath it underneath the slats of the bed i found a latch when i activated it the bed dropped down into a hidden passage beneath the floor i swung my legs over and fell down too landing on the bed with a thump somewhat rattled by my discovery i followed the strange passage until i got to a door there was a latch on the side and when i pushed it i was swung into another hospital room completely different from the one i had just left and there were my wife and daughter they were both asleep on beds hooked up to hospital machines there was nobody else here i quickly went to my wife and tried to shake her awake but she didn't respond and i assumed she must be sedated i was panicking now confused about why there were secret passages in the hospital and what they were doing with my family my daughter groaned quietly behind me and i rushed over to her she was waking up lisa i said shaking her shoulder lisa can you hear me dad she mumbled blinking open her eyes what's going on i told her i didn't know but we had to get out of here i helped her unhook from the machine then did the same to my wife she was beginning to come around too and she woke up in a panic when she saw me and lisa with her she calmed down where did that man go she asked looking around fearfully what man who did this to you i already knew who it was before she answered me the receptionist the one who had been interested in my daughter and her organs but that meant i heard footsteps coming down the hallway outside and quickly ushered my family back through the hidden door in the wall we went down the passage and back up to the first hospital room but i couldn't figure out how to close the trapdoor so we left it we went immediately to security and told them what had happened how the receptionist had kidnapped my family and how i suspected he was part of an illegal organ trafficking ring that operated within the hospital the security people just looked at me like i was mad and said they would look into it but i wasn't convinced i took my family home and phoned the police instead i could only hope they would
