when you first decide to come to a new city especially a city as massive as Buenos Aires it can often be difficult to understand where to stay where to go where the activities are so I'm gonna outline about 12 of the most popular neighborhoods in this video Buenos Aires actually has about 48 official neighborhoods the neighborhoods I'm gonna outline are the most popular with locals and foreigners and the best markets the best old neighborhoods everything that you need to know for your trip to Buenos Aires Palermo is one of the biggest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and it's broken down into three sections Palermo Hollywood Palermo Soho and Palermo Chico one cool thing about this neighborhood is that a lot of the sidewalks are flesh to the street so there's no curbs which gives this really cozy feel to the neighborhood in the summer this neighborhood is particularly popular you'll see people all over the streets both on weekend nights weekday Nights night day doesn't matter this neighborhood is always packed and it's one of the neighborhoods where the most foreign meetups will happen because Palermo is so popular it also tends to be a little bit more on the pricey side so if you're looking for housing in Palermo expect just a little bit elevated prices because this is where everyone wants to be Palermo Hollywood is in the northern part of the neighborhood it's a bit more residential but it does have great cafes with brunch options there are fantastic restaurants even some clubs but it's just not not quite as Lively as Palermo Soho Palermo Soho is the neighborhood where everyone wants to be has the two main plazas plus Serrano and Plaza Armenia there are a ton of foreign meetups here there are a ton of craft beer bars it's very hip very trendy very young especially in the Summers you'll see people on the streets everywhere regardless of if you're staying here you should at least spend a day or half a day in this neighborhood getting to know it because it's really cute and really beautiful there are tons of graffiti walls markets on the weekend and just really cool places to hang out my favorite part of Palermo are the parks there are four Parks right near each other so you can easily do them in one day there's the Carlos Thai Botanical Garden which is free to enter the next Park is the Eco parque which used to previously be a zoo it was shut down but there's still remnants of the zoo you can see a ton of animals there it's a super fun park to walk through especially if you have kids but even if you don't have kids it's really fun then the last two parks are the Japanese garden and the Rose Garden the Rose Garden is also free to enter as is ecobarque and you can see beautiful manicured Lawns a lake rose gardens which are amazing there's usually thousands of roses there the last one is the Japanese garden which does cost 416 pesos to get in which is basically nothing and it's a pretty small park but it is beautiful so it's worth it just to pay the small fee and go in what I like about the Japanese garden is that inside there's a Japanese restaurant which is so good if this is your first time seeing one of my videos I'm Nikki hello I spent the last year in Argentina both in Buenos Aires and in the rest of the country exploring as much as I could so if you're coming to Buenos Aires or Argentina check out my channel because I have a ton of videos about different locations in Argentina as well as different things that can help you like trans rotation safety I got my phone stolen and money everything you'll possibly need the next neighborhood which is one of my personal favorites is santelmo Sun Telmo is known to be one of the more Bohemian neighborhoods it's one of the oldest neighborhoods so the architecture is pre-colonial it's very cool there are a lot of sort of broken down crumbling buildings in the center of the neighborhood but it kind of adds to it most of the neighborhood is full of cobblestone streets and they recently just redid some of them so the Cobblestone is really nice and it's a great place to just stroll around in but the neighborhood is also known for antiques so there are a ton of antique and vintage shops all over the neighborhood the most famous thing about this neighborhood is of course the Sunday market every Sunday from about 9 A.M to 6 p.m the entire length of cache de finsa from Placid Macho all the way to parking you'll find the Sunday market you can find the best gifts there clothing handmade made Goods even churros fresh with orange juice it's a fantastic Market you can also find one of my favorite tours in the city in the santelmo neighborhood which is zanjon De granados and it's about the mysterious tunnels underneath the city of Buenos Aires the main plaza of santelmo is plaza dorego where you can find live tango music or cafes where you can sit outside and just down the street from that is the Mercado santelmo which is a covered Market it's fairly new and there are a ton of different types of restaurants inside of there and it's a basic market so you can get fruits and vegetables there as well santelmo is funny because there are two sides of it there's the weekday side which is virtually empty and then there's the weekend or evening side which is very Lively I suggest you visit on a weekday just to sort of see what the neighborhood looks like do some tours and then also visit on the weekend so you can see the Sunday market but no matter what you do you have to go to santelmo during your visit to Buenos Aires the next neighborhood is it is one of the most elegant neighborhoods it's pretty safe I also think reculeta has two distinct sides as you get closer to the main Avenues it's a bit more hectic and city-like but if you stay closer to the cemetery it's beautiful the most famous thing in reculeta is the Recoleta Cemetery it used to be free but they've recently started charging 1400 pesos per person that you have to pay with a credit card but I still recommend it you can also do tours there's an English man named Simon who hangs out in the front of the cemetery and he'll do tours in English they're not for any particular price you just pay what you think it's worth but his tours I know from experience are full of information but visiting the cemetery is a must when you're in Buenos Aires the most famous person buried there is Eva Peron just next to the cemetery is the Centro coutral which has a ton of free events in the plaza just in front of that every weekend you can find an artisanal fan there where you can find handmade goods and in that same area there are a ton of restaurants and cafes the most famous one being LA biela and one of my favorite bakeries in the entire city of Buenos Aires is just down the street you have to try the scones trust me you will not regret it a great place for lunch in that neighborhood is a traditional Empanada place called el San Juanito going from the Centro cultural you can cross a bridge which they repaint all the time so it always looks different you'll see the jacaranda trees in that neighborhood but once you cross the bridge you'll see the facult which is constructed in a likeness of Roman architecture and just beyond that is the floralis generica which is a giant flower that opens in the morning and closes in the evening the next area is micro Centro which is basically comprised of two neighborhoodserrat and San Nicolas you will absolutely spend time in these neighborhoods because this is where a ton of the main Buenos Aires stuff is you'll find the Casa de Marshall which has La Casa rosala which is like the white house but the Pink House you'll find the cathedral where the pope of Francis used to give lectures you'll also find El cavildo which is now a free museum that you can enter that tells the history of the city just down the street is kashifloria which is a walking street with a ton of shops and restaurants on it I recommend going to the guemes gallery and going up to the sixth floor because there's a great Rooftop Bar and if you keep going further you'll find the obelisco which of course is famous in Buenos Aires especially if you've seen any of the videos after the World Cup win in 2022. the Obelisk sits in the center of avania Nueve de Julio which is the largest Avenue in all of South America it's like 16 Lanes wide you also have Avenida coriandes on weekend nights this Avenue shuts down to cars and so there's a lot of people walking up and down the street there's street performers and it's known as The Times Square of Buenos Aires as the entire street is full of theaters the next neighborhood is la boca now la boca is a great place for tourists to visit for a few hours I don't recommend being there at night I also don't recommend sleeping there so don't book your accommodations in this neighborhood the reason is this is one of the most touristed areas in the entire city because of that it's full of tourists but also the prices for food and restaurants in the main part of this neighborhood are super expensive and this is one of the more dangerous neighborhoods where you need to watch your back a little bit because there's a lot of theft in this neighborhood including me I got my phone stolen there so if you click on this video here you'll see the story of how I got my phone stolen but la boca is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires that was founded by mainly Italian immigrants they have La Bon bonera which is the stadium for the Boca Juniors football team which is super famous you can also find something called El Caminito which is a little Street full of brightly colored houses there are also a ton of traditional restaurants in this neighborhood overpriced but they usually have live Tango so you can have a little bit of a performance entertainment while you eat Del Grano is the next neighborhood a lot of tourists don't really go here there's not so much to do here but it's one of the more safer neighborhoods so if you're thinking of moving to Buenos Aires this could be a really good option for you it's known to be a little bit more upscale a little bit more wealthy and it's reflected in the architecture and the houses because the houses in this neighborhood are really nice you'll also see a lot of people with dog walkers in this neighborhood like one person with 20 dogs around them on on several leads it's really cute to see in the main plaza in place you'll find a weekend Market this neighborhood also has Barrio Chino which on Mondays there's nothing going on but on the weekends it's really fun it's full of people you can find tons of different kinds of foods especially obviously Chinese food also Japanese food there's also a gate at the start of Chinatown that was brought piece by piece from China just north of this neighborhood is another very quiet neighborhood called Nunes similar to belgrano but it also has fantastic cafes restaurants not a lot of people go there but I just wanted to tell you in case you're looking for something a bit more chill then we have Puerto Madero now Puerto Madero is one of the newest neighborhoods in the city it's way to the east of the city just behind La Casa rosala on the very far end you'll find something called costanera Sur it's a walk away Along the river and also you'll find a ton of food trucks where you can get choripan it's like a very traditional thing to have choripan food trucks all along that you can also go to the Reserva ecologica the Ecological Reserve has a great walk so if you're into just walking in nature or running or biking this is a perfect place to go Puerto Madero also has just in that area along Coastal a weekend mark get but the main section of Puerto Madero that's close to Casa rosala is essentially two sides along the river and there's several dams through it which are bridges connecting the rest of the city to Puerto Madero so a lot of the buildings in Puerto Madera are converted factories so they look pretty cool but it's now a very upscale area you can find a ton of restaurants bars cafes all along both sides of the river there are even a few restaurants and bars in the river there's walkways that go down and you can find the bar in there the most famous bridge in Puerto Madera is an interesting Bridge so just take a stroll across it have a look the housing in this neighborhood is very expensive so if you're looking for something High budget fancy this is a good place to go if you're looking to spend a bit less maybe look in other areas the next neighborhood is called visha Crespo now this is not a super popular neighborhood but it is one of my favorite neighborhoods there reason is it's next to Palermo so it's easy to walk there there's also a ton of restaurants cafes bars it's pretty cool and hip in my opinion it's sort of like what Palermo was at the beginning before it became so cool it's like on its way to being cool in this neighborhood it's pretty residential so it's quiet if you want to live here it's not as expensive as Palermo and there are a ton of outlet stores and leather stores in this neighborhood similar to Visa Crespo is it's not a super known neighborhood but it's a neighborhood I really like because it's residential it's quiet you don't have any of the chaos that you have in other parts of the city but it's super Central so it's easy to get around there are buses there's the soup day there are great cafes great restaurants it's just a really convenient location at better prices and a much calmer environment lastly we have Almagro and cabezhito now these are two separate neighborhoods but I do like to put them together other because they're right next to each other and I personally think they have a pretty similar Vibe I lived in almaguro in 2005 and it definitely feels more of a neighborhood like a residential neighborhood it's a quieter place where people live it's not chaotic like some of the other neighborhoods are like in microcentro but there's great Transportation there's the soup day line a that goes right through it there's ton of bus stops and it's also becoming a bit cooler so when I was there in 2005 compared to 2022 things got a lot more hip like now there's really cute cafes and cuter restaurants in addition to the traditional restaurants and the traditional parisha places so I really like the contrast of these two neighborhoods there's also really good Parks here is the perfect place to just relax it doesn't get too crowded or busy and on the west side of this park you can find the Feria de libros so you can go there and get great deals on books there's also parque centenario which is a giant giant Circle Park in the center there's a lake so you can see ducks and birds and on the weekend this park has markets so the park tends to be a pretty social place with the markets and there's a lot of exercise groups and people running around the lake as you can see Buenos Aires has so much to offer and this is just a starting place so if you're coming to Buenos Aires and you want to dig a Little Deeper click on this video because this is a great place to start it's all the things that I wish I knew before coming and this will prepare you a lot before you come to Buenos Aires so just click here why not
