just want to set the tone here this is me almost breaking my neck trying to set a land speed record I didn't know existed eight weeks ago this video is sponsored by ag1 this is my trash can it's strong Dependable ergonomic but slow I don't like slow things slow things are boring so today I want to make it fast but specifically I want to make it the fastest trash can in the world now at the moment the world record is 43 miles an hour set by Andy Jennings over in the UK so I think a safe Target for me is going to be anything faster than that I've set three criteria for this build one you'll notice Andy is standing in his trash can that's crazy I want to be inside it with the lid closed two it still has to function as a trash can when I'm done and three it has to be the fastest trash can on Earth if you haven't looked at a trash can in a minute they're not known for being aerodynamic how do we get one to go fast punch through the air without chopping up the body and making a bunch of aerodynamic changes the only solution I could think of is double digit horsepower so we're gonna spend a couple bucks on the internet and take this humble six and a half horsepower Honda Clone Engine and bump this Beast all the way up to 12. now for the rest I'd be lying if I said I had an educated plan I know it needs to be compact fast stable and safe I guess I'm going to use the trash can as a template and I have a vague idea of what I think it needs to look like but it's it's like putting together the pieces of a blank puzzle I'm asking simple questions is there metal here no does it look like there should be maybe put metal here so this might gonna be my Axle Carrier I know it's probably a terrible idea but so is this whole thing I've made a grave error it's very possible I haven't given myself enough ground clearance I gave myself a full quarter inch of clearance when I put my weight on it I've got nothing we are fixed new clearance about an inch and a quarter so I've got to figure out how to get me and this engine in here there's not as much room as I thought there would be I started to feel like I'm getting close and then I realized there's 500 more problems to solve dang it I can't you can't look up all right you might be expecting there to be four wheels on this amazing Chariot that I'm building this two for power two for steering and that would make sense but here's the thing for smoother brain people like myself two-wheel steering is tricky you gotta think about camber caster alignment there's a lot to get right which means there's a lot that can go wrong I am just gonna ignore all that and I'm taking some inspiration from the world's first car the three-wheeled German multifoggin I figure if it's good enough for the Germans it is definitely good enough for my trash but you know what's not trash today's sponsor ag1 ag1 is comprehensive daily nutrition Made powerfully Simple it's made up of 75 high quality Whole Food sourced done with two minor exceptions [Music] oh my gosh but watch me try to turn around right now wow all right I can turn a little bit steering's like it's like a just a polite suggestion I can kind of let's go over here hey let's maybe oh let's see if we can avoid that puddle if you're curious I did have a second reason for choosing a bike wheel uh it already had a break on it and as a lazy person I thought it would save me a bunch of time but it turned out not to work very well so we're upgrading that for living purposes and the wheel has a hop in it anyway so we're going to upgrade that while we're at it to this much cooler blue wheel because I don't want to look silly all right we have disc brakes guys t-o-d trash can officially done I'm the first to admit it's a face only a mother could love she's my big ugly baby all right it's record-breaking day and we've come to redline Raceway in cattle Mills Texas to try to go faster than a trash can has ever gone before these guys have been really generous to let us come out and have a safe place to do this so I'm going to give them a huge shout out if you're in the area they have family friendly events every weekend I love supporting local businesses especially when they're crazy enough to support projects like this feel good so good getting our Speedo installed it's been five weeks of work up to this point and the only thing separating me from a new world record is an eighth mile a track a couple of sketchy welds and a will to live let's do it yes yes yes 62. oh my gosh okay world record in the back 62 miles an hour in a trash can y'all see if the front wheel came off the ground it felt like it did yeah you've got an official time slip 62. I'm beyond satisfied the new record is 62 miles an hour with the lid closed but what if Andy was right what if lid open is faster let's run it again lit open and find out foreign was actually worse but you went three and a half tenths faster dude 14 47 at 60 miles an hour and this is official yeah like a referee's whistle baby yeah nice job we may have we may have the Eighth Mile record for a trash can standing eight mile record for trusky so I didn't find any secret to trash can speed in the lid but I did find it in stupidity here's a lesson in stopping while you're ahead I'm lining up for my last run of the day and it's just for B1 to get this shot the problem was I had it in my caveman brain that I was leaving just a little bit of speed on the table set off go past the camera we get the shot but I stay on the throttle further than I should have in this hat all right I'm okay that was insane we went faster almost UK did you get that on camera no you flipped like four times did it really I'm glad I was inside that looked that looked bad wow look at this road rash look out I must have been oh my wheels geez all right well I'm so glad you're here that's the last pass yeah that's it I don't I don't have a close this uh this is the world's fastest trash can Wait is it [Music] Jesus [Music] thank you
