I Built the Ultimate Sleeper PC

now what is a sleeper build well it's a car turn imagine your Nan's car it's very unassuming on the outside then once you lift that hood up it's a bit spicy here's the black I'm applying the same logic to this Windows 98 PC and fill in it full of the latest and greatest components not as big as my whole over PC let's get started first things first we need to get rid of all these old stinky parts to make room for the new ones where is it all gonna go Pentium 2 processor why is it a graphics card not a hard drive here as well I bet this is fast I don't make what they used to that's what I say I bet these still work your deer down the road and make more used to I don't know if that's gonna fit you know I think we've figured it out Rad's gonna go as an intake fans are going to be mounted here now we have enough space for the fans to be on it there because there's a bit of depth in this front panel that's going to clip onto it just about have enough GPU clearance there for here we're gonna have to try and figure out where to cut a hole to mount our pump so that it so that it sits up here somewhere let's get to Fabi this case thought it was retired and not yet we need to remove all the unnecessary brackets like hard drive holders and make space for the new stuff after hours of very protected cutting adrenaline here we are right so not a lot might have looked like it's changed for you guys but we've been fabbing as you've seen um to do some serious work to make all these parts fit I water a pump should be able to mount in here nicely and then we have clearance for our GPU and our rad as well this was some serious effort I hope it pays off wait wait wait wait wait look at Ryan quick all right I think we lucked out it turns out motherboards are identically shaped from 1998 to 2023. does it line up with the io oh mate they've looked after us here oh technology we've figured out our trials and tribulations and it's time to get the build together oh it's for you let's get started I wanted this to be a true Powerhouse so for the mobo I picked the rogstrek z790e LJ 1700 socket ddr5 it definitely came at a price though speaking of 1700 socket the I9 13900k 24 cores of pure blue pleasure for Ram ddr5 6800 moves that's a lot of cow and we're going to slip in two terabytes dub D black screwless now the cooling is where it gets interesting EK all the way from Germany I don't get bad does it you're like a proud Dad I've never been happier look how well that block fits in that little square it's like they designed it to do that you know what I mean have you ever done water cooling before let's figure this out together we've got a cutter for the pipes and I assume enough things let's Mount some hardware and with the mobo in we're on to the Round We battle with a lot of layouts for this case but front mounting made the most sense this allowed us to technically Mount the fans externally make space for the pump but cut through the drive section meant it could squeeze a little bit higher and give the gpus some space actually coming together all right time for an important test fit if this front panel goes back on we're on for a win it fits as if no fans were there in the first place up next it's time to figure out the water cooling first time by the way so the water needs to go through the block pump and rad to make the loop as far as I'm aware it doesn't matter which way around to an extent pump flow's out this way and in this with that figured out let's cut our runs clean cut this should be all we need three tubes now we need to install the fittings and squeeze a little water really helps here and with that done with our little man down he didn't fared too well in the war calling situation anyway time to make up the mix prior fluid would just apparently I'll try my best not to drop this all right here's the scary bit so we're currently cabling for a test run of the pump tissue paper just in case she leaks a little bit but shouldn't be anything we can't solve fill that bad boy up and we're full capacity mate when I plug this in to the power supply now flick it on the pump is going to start going oh man I hope this works you got to tell me if it squirts everywhere oh it's not bad well this is looking Majestic we need a second run to get more fluid through it hey it's flowing and it's not dribbling and it's purple look at the flow coming in on this how's it moving so fast I'll put my hands on these pipes full up my hands gonna fall off now it's all the hardware to Plumbing we've got to put a motherboard Cable in CPU cables and she's ready to go get those fans oh yeah we've got this is our only exhaust all the airflow is going to come through here and then exhaust through here that sounds about right it's hot now to the touch it's warm in it but it'll be fine yeah with that success we wired all the hardware for its first real boot scary dive this is it days of work for one moment oh [Laughter] that's so cool now it's time to finish this build once and for all we still have a few more bits to add there's this spare hole from a DVD rack it looks like the perfect place for a screen an Amazon ordering some cutting later here we are hey it fits so nice anyway for this to be a true sleeper we still need to be able to shut the case I ain't showing this fat power cable is in the way so we've got this right angle adapter I've heard some cats fire interesting with all that installed it's time to put the case on it's a bit bulgy but it kind of fits ah let's see how it runs oh you're home don't worry surprisingly right from the get-go is perfect the hardware all seems really happy with no obvious leaks or issues I'll call that a win for my first try and we got the screen up here which is serving both as a place to display your favorite wallpaper and as a temp display even the little nocturers are happy now with the side panel on temps obviously rise pretty significantly we do have a plan to solve this so this is it some of the latest and greatest Hardware all shoved in a case that was forgotten about from the 90s thanks watching I'll see you next time
