I BOUGHT The CHEAPEST Saturn Sky REDLINE In The Nation And It's FAST

what is going on guys I'm washed chair ago and today amber and I are just finishing up our 12 hours of driving where we went from Wichita to Fort Worth to pick up my Jaguar s-type our transmission and now we're here in Fayetteville Arkansas to pick up my new car a 2007 Saturn sky red line with the turbo [Music] we're here in my friend's garage the owned the car before we did the deal last night hate him $4,000 for this and they're selling it because they bought a jeep for Karina and she's been driving that instead and also Ryan probably wants the garage space back for his Lamborghini that will be back in a couple days it's a twin-turbo LP Guyardo and it looks really a home when it's sitting there with its Lamborghini cover on it we just pulled out of their house and we've got three black cars they're huge black diesel and the Volt's black and the sky's black and then Karina's new jeeps black - okay so we just had an awesome breakfast with Carina and this is Karina's old car this is her Saturn Sky and I know I already told you guys that she got a Jeep but yeah why do you want to get rid of this guy a bigger vehicle and a lot faster love the sky but time for a change yep how long did you on it two years okay I've definitely seen it like we've been to your house so many times that we've seen it like a million times so I've never seen you drive it or been in or anything like that until today so yeah it just existed right so yeah now it's pretty realized your over here is a lot of fun let's go talk about it thanks Carina yeah all right so here's something fun the car has no heat at all and it's cold I just drove here and my feet froze so we're gonna try to do the a/c recalibration first and this is a step one of troubleshooting while your heat or air conditioning doesn't work in a sky or a solstice so you're gonna put the key in do that so it's on then you turn the temperature control all the way to the right blower control all the way to the right until they are flat you can I definitely feel the different actuator doors opening and closing moving from defrost and floored a bit and everything like that and it's working pretty well guess we'll find out if the blend or for the AC and heat works quick note about that you don't have to keep holding it forever just hold it for like a few seconds until they start flashing they should stop flashing automatically first gasps stop with the sky filling up both cars real quick this is my 2007 saturn sky redline i just picked this up from ryan and karina you saw when it was at their place in arkansas and we just drove it all the way home so now it's covered in dirt ice salt and it needs to get inside but that said it's a 2.0 liter Ecotec the LNF engine direct-injected turbocharged and i think it's ready for all the Bolton goodies I heard this head of tune but based on the fact that I made 18 pounds of boost at full throttle and fifth and also in fourth I'm pretty sure there's not a tune on it because they can turn the boost up quite a bit with just a tune moving on from the engine it's got a 5-speed manual independent rear suspension a limited-slip torque sensing differential in the back and I can tell you that works great because we've been having a lot of fun doing donuts in the ice the red lines got lots of other goodies from the factory like 18-inch wheels they're Chrome they look great it fills out the wheel wells very well dual exhaust a special interior come inside here dad if the metal door sill plates which are going to have to be unstuck and stuck back on this car the redline also added this special stitching on the seats it's got a cool little white badge with a redline two-tone leather red on black the steering wheel controls some of them were part of the redline package I think the audio controls and those are amazing they work wonderfully the piano black center console here with the waterfall in the back and everything all of this piano black just looks incredible we'll run through the controls real fast inside we've got fog lights a nice little toggle right there the steering wheel can be moved manually I don't know if a telescope so I guess we'll find out together it does not telescope it just tilts there we go put that back over here on the door we've got that power door locks auto windows for the driver's window in the passenger window is normal electronic mirrors the mere dimming for the rearview is you'll OnStar cool little plastic visors that flip down with a sliding mirror no lights or anything like that nothing there's nothing extra in this car that's for sure the climate control isn't auto or anything crazy it just has a temperature dial and fan speed and the different modes when I bought the car from Ryan the heat didn't work and we expected it would be a crazy ride home I brought a hoodie and a coat I was gonna bundle up but at the parking lot I did the recalibration for the HVAC and it didn't seem to fix it but we drove for a little bit so I turned the fan speed all the way up and then I adjusted the temperature dial all the way down and all the way back up there's a little bit of a pop and it started working again so I don't know if it's stuck on heat now I'm fine with it being stuck on heat I can just shut the blower off for the time being and that's how we're gonna leave it here in the center we've got the lights there auto very nice turn signals high beams all the usual the right stock is the wiper controls nothing out of the ordinary there we've got a standard GM radio right there it does everything you expect and it has aux-in and then turning around in your seat you've got the cupholders which you push it on and they slide out you have the center storage which you push in on and rotate and then you can open that and there's about enough room in there for six-cd so I don't know why you would measure in CDs but that's what we're doing today there's actually another cup holder on the passenger side which comes out right here but it's broken pushed in maybe I'll take the console apart one of these days and get that working again we've got 12-volt power right there the glovebox a bunch of receipts for the car and a book which is the factory owners manual actually I haven't looked in here there's a I think that's Ryan's garage door opener I better send that back to him we'll open the trunk real fast I'm gonna put the top back up anyway because it's absolutely freezing outside it's balanced really well and get these doors open so we can put the top up lift up so with the trunk open and top back up you can see the storage space that you do have this is it it holds two small bags the saturn actually built for you you can kind of shove backpacks back in there and that's about it saturn actually made bags that fit perfectly right here if you have the top up so I guess if you're going on a long trip it's a very fun Drive it's probably one duffle bag so let's get the top closed again I think that worked and then you can flip the individual bat wings back down of course the hood does open like a Corvette and under the hood we can see the direct-injected turbocharged Ecotec engine cute little turbo hiding right there off the side of the engine Doug Tamara would of course mentioned the hood mounted lights on this car and the fact that some of the lights do have to be fixed honestly I think all of the lights need to be fixed at this point but it does have these markers that are down low and fixed it looks pretty cool with the headlights on in the hood up though the Saturn Sky is based on the GM Kappa platform and it's sold in other countries as the Opel GT and the Daewoo g2x it also has its sister car the Pontiac Solstice and the sky and the Solstice for the main sellers in the u.s. there were thirty four thousand four hundred fifteen roadsters built during the entire four year production run which was 2007 to 2010 zero to sixty comes up in a pretty quick 5.2 seconds zero to one hundred and fourteen point seven seconds which is basically the quarter mile the quarter mile is fourteen seconds flat 98 mile an hour coincidentally it's about the same time as my v8 powered z28 Camaro I was running 14s when that car before this car was ever built that said it's pretty impressive that this turbo four-cylinder is right there with it the top speed is acclaimed 141 miles an hour drag limited I'm sure after we start getting some mods on this car it'll be much faster than that from the factory the engines rated at 260 horsepower 260 foot-pounds of torque and you know I don't think this has anything special on island C up pipes down pipes charge pipes anything like that that's aftermarket but that 260 foot-pounds if that's where we're at right now should boil the tires with just a tune and some upgrades this thing should be making 290 horsepower and 340 foot-pounds of torque which will help us do even more amazing donuts these cars came with an original asking price of like $29,000 which is pretty nuts considering I just paid for for the car not too many years later I have say this car is absolutely beautiful it's something I've always wanted I love the front end it looks so much better than the Solstice to me some people like the Solstice but this thing is aggressive and the Solstice is really like a low-key non aggressive Lincoln car this car was built in when the GM's best eras when where they just built performance cars and had fun and didn't care the Cobalt SS the entire SS line was built right around this time period all of those cars are amazing and don't think I forgot every dodge with an SRT badge on it is also amazing I loved all of those cars that was just America having fun and building all these super fun cars that were totally affordable and just had cool performance variants and now those same performance variants of course start at like $100,000 anything really fun my Hellcat zo6 Corvette the halo American cars hundred thousand dollar supercar territory cars and this is tons of fun 300 horsepower and dirt cheap so once I'd like to drive the Saturn Sky redline well first off agronomics are terrible possibly some of the worse there are to set the ebrake your RS car like this right you have to move over and rip up the cupholders are behind you so if you want to get your cup you have to do this maneuver that's what I've been doing and then rotate your cup to see if I can put it back that's about how difficult that is storage is right there there's not much there the back of the car holds exactly two bags once you open the trunk up and if you want to roll the windows down and you're just driving log right you can go like this and move your arm all the way back and stretch your body our you can take your other arm and cross over to get the window so it does but driving him driving it is a whole nother story the steering is very heavy I'll give it that it's precise though so plane change it's reasonably quick right where I wanted it the manual gearbox is very easy to operate it's not nachi at all in fact I'd say it's a little bit loose feeling even with it being an older car I can still feel the shifter click into each gear with like a nice solid click so if there's nothing wrong with that but what this really comes down to is the power oh the power let's downshift ooh give it a little hit you can see the Moose cage comes alive so the sports suspension which was exclusive to the redline is extremely stiff there's a bridge crossing right there I mean it wasn't too bad but some of the nastier bridge crossings from that we were just driving over and like Missouri and things like that I mean the car kind of jumps into the air and then jiggles around while you struggle to regain control for a second so the complete package that direct-injected force under the nice shifting 5-speed and that perfect limited slip is absolutely what this car needs and it feels amazing to drive even on the test drive all I did was take my buddy Jesse out the guy that was in the Aventador and we went on Corsa rally and we just went out and did donuts that was basically the whole test-drive I mean the car belonged to a good friend that I trust and he was like I don't know if you guys what the cars I believe me if you owned it it's fine I'm not worried at all so yeah we just drove down to some empty parking lot rip some donuts I tried to get Jesse to do some donuts cuz he'd never done them before I was like I'll teach you it's really easy in this car and man donuts are easy in this car I guess we'll have to show you this is the rather annoying process for opening the top first you have to open the glove box or use the remote to open the trunk there's the trunk button then you have to get out of the car which is obviously a huge benefit to me on owners I love my Miata reach up go like this I'm throw the top even it like we've opened to the 50 mile an hour so BAM and the tops open in one second for this get out of the car once it stopped go like this pull these bat wings back then you reach back inside the car rotate the latch in the center about 90 degrees get both sides free and start throwing the top back and once the top is down and in position which we're going to make sure everything's nice and clear then I have to work the top down into the back there you go and we can close the hatch so there it is and now you have exactly zero trunk space and no storage space in the entire car other than the center console so moving forward amber Jeannie's gonna drive the car a little bit I'll Drive the car a little bit I don't know what we're gonna do right now but I do want to mod the car so that's what I'm excited for I'd like to find out if there's a tune on the car then if there's not let's get a tune on the car but of course before we can tune the car we will need the big turbo the downpipe the charge pipes we got to get everything swapped out and of course if it's still in the stock map sensors will go to three-bar map sensors as well so that is it for today guys we're gonna go play with the car please like share
