What I Hate About My Saturn Sky

hey everybody Mike here once again and I apologize I haven't come out with a video for a little while I've been kind of crazy with work and other things going on and to be honest I really haven't done that many mods lately just like I said just a little bit too busy with with other but hey I'm back and this is gonna be a little bit different kind of a video and everybody knows that that I really love this car and I'm sure everybody that has a kappa or a sky or solstice or GT or Opel GT and loved their cars but you know what there's also some things that I hate about it and that's what this video is gonna be run what do I hate about this car other there's a whole lot that there are some things that I wish General Motors put a little more effort into is there going to be any kind of particular order it's just kind of be hey these are some of the things I don't really care for and let me go and get started in the first thing is that I don't like how General Motors kind of pulled the plug on Saturn and Pontiac and everything Hummer and if there's any other ones those are the three that I know off here it's kind of a shame I mean yeah I know it's part of the whole barrel odd thing we can get all political but I don't want to get into all that but it's a shame that they did pull the plug on such a great great car just when it really was in its you know first steps of being born it's a fantastic looking car and they pull the plug that really sucks one of the biggest reasons it sucks is it makes it very difficult for us to get parts now you know anytime you can really get any decent parts unfortunately is if somebody else totals theirs you know those guys their souls dis and they start parting it out that's the same there are some aftermarket companies out there that are making stuff for our for our cars I know as far as fenders in hoods and things Norm's fiberglass does that DDM works in RPM motor works they have some performance products that that we can use as well anyway hey thanks general motors are kind of screwing us up just imagine just imagine what this car would look like in a second and third generation it would be absolutely but then again you never know let me show you where to pull the plug on anyway because we going against their Corvette sales they I'm sure they don't want I need to think anybody don't affect the Corvette so I don't think it would have happened it's a whole different price rates for different customer and I think somebody will buy us guy or associates will jump up today you know it's kind of a stepping stone for Corvette anyway anyway like I said that's that's one of the reasons that things that I hate about this guy is generous for you soles designers okay another thing that I hate about my Saturn Sky trunk space I think that's really all I have to say now this particular item that I hate is only gonna affect those of us that have the manual transmission and that's pretty much the notch enos of the gear it's very nachi and I believe it came from one of General Motors trucks to Colorado it is a truck transmission that they put in here so it does have that notching feel to it I know you can go and purchase a short shifter from DDM it works I don't count that and maybe I don't know if I didn't test drive somebody else's kappa actually this is specifically but they had and it was nice not really really really high on my priority the mods but if I need to do that nice time just the general overall Nagi is a little bit but hey it is what it is he does saying now this one's going to be for those of us that are 6 foot tall or taller I'm actually 61 I do wish the general motors were Saturn whoever haven't designed the overall platform what I added a couple more inches to the length or at least the interior you know being you know six when I fit in it I mean I'm fine with it unfortunately my seat is all the way to the back right up against the waterfall I can't lean it back and I can't move I could move it forward a little bit so I can lean it back with that my knees are way up into the steering so I do really wish that we had a little more legroom I think it's even worse with the manual transmission because we had to deal with the clutch pedal as well but I don't know what it is with some of these smaller cars let me eat them the odd is the same thing even a brand new as I said an ad there's no girl I don't know if it's just something that all the engineers in these sports cars are very small and they don't really care about the tall guys or what's going on but anyway it would have been nice if they gave us a little more comfort one more room in this cargo mine is actually a little bit better than some of the other ones out there because I do have the power seat so I can actually lower the seat a bit which helps I mean as far as getting the knees up into the steering wheel that certainly helps but so you know just six foot tall or taller you don't even have the manual seat well god bless you because you know the legroom has to be horrendous in there for you but hey it worked on a second or third generation without going out of business maybe they would have you know heard some customer feedback and gain a little bit longer they didn't I'm stuck okay now this particular grape is pretty much with the top it is a manual top and there are a lot of maintenance ops out there you know I understand that you know a lot of power ones as well but the mania top on this one it's not just you flip it back like the Miata and your and you go on your way this one you have to unhook the top you know well first actually you got if it's already closed you got to puff the button on the trunk or on your key fob to pop up those little flapper things in the back and then you got to unhook the top and then you gotta push it back put it in the truck and it close the trunk and go on so there's a lot of steps involved with that same thing is whenever you are pretty much closing it or putting the top back up again you got to get out you know pop the trunk get out pull the truck or pull the top over lock it into place get back out again you know closes little side flap things I'm sure they're called something put them in the comments below if you know what they're called but got to close those things and then get back in the car again so it's pretty annoying as far as as far as that's concerned I mean once it's done you're fine but just the whole process of doing all that is a little bit on the annoying side time I'm coming actually I'm fine with it lobbying power simply because that's one more thing that's going to break down Romania we don't really worry about that but just all the steps involved there you go and the last little grape that I have for my sky let sure it's probably same on the Pontiac as well but just the quality of the interior pieces that are in here I mean the plastic is just it's just you know it's hey it's cheap it seems like I don't know what it is with with auto manufacturers at least back into the know I even hack I've had 80s General Motors car it was the same back then so I'm gonna have General Motors for a long time now but it seems like the bean counters get in there late when they start cutting cost they always go after the interior and I don't I mean I don't get it cuz that's where you spend most of your time is in the interior for god sakes the the the interior here very thin plastic I mean I've had like - apart probably at least three times the clips that they use well obviously they use the screws it's not but there's also little tabs and things you have to put there there they can be easily broken the center console I bought it already have a little crack in it as well actually had this thing off and I see what you know what what it's made of and it's not very thick and even the door panel everything just seems very very you know cheaply made and supposable nice real solid solid feel to the interior yeah I wish I wish they wouldn't do that but they do and who knows like it so I haven't had a General Motors car for awhile so maybe in tears I would hope they've improved any quality of the interiors but I don't know hopefully they did okay so there's my list of the things that I don't really particularly care for about my sky now obviously the things that I do like far outweigh the little gripes that I have that otherwise I wouldn't even know anything it's a lot of fun and I absolutely love the car and I'm gonna be doing more much to it as well in fact I have an exhaust system under to be installing here there's nothing a little bit a little bit more secular entree that being said I am signing off if you're not a subscriber please go ahead and subscribe below like the video
