hey pitmasters what's up you guys asked me a lot of times can you please do a review on offset smokers or can you get one because I got an offset smoker can you please tell me all about it so what I did I bought the most sold offset smoker right here in the Netherlands and it only cost $19 which is around 80 euros it's right here in the box and the reason why I bought one so cheap is because many people buy this it's available at the cheapest stores it's on the web and people think hey the summer is coming I want to barbecue I want to do something cool I want to buy an offset smoker so I want to show you guys my experience with this cheap offset smoker I've got this new offset smoker does it reach it one I want to ask you if you want to put it together because yeah you're more of an average consumer than I am yeah so I was thinking if you put it together motion then it will be more a better reference for people to understand what it takes to put this thing together because if I can figure this out I know it I'll do it but I'll ask the knees to help you thank you of course I got something to go on the barbecue but I'm not gonna tell you about it just yet I got dog on the explore we have a lot of nice I've hangover don't do this to me just watching this is way too much fun you are the average consumer Marshall the average consumer has a hangover it's Saturday they've been drinking beer with his friends he has to put the smoker together because more friends are coming family are coming for the Saturday barbecue this is real life Denise would be like the equivalent of a wife then she will be putting your barbecue together I think the knees are more so I gotta be done in no time so I'm gonna set up my barbecue table prep the food and when they're done we can immediately start cooking Rudy for you nothing half an hour you guys are like a wall Formula One team for what we are going to be smoking on our offset we need a good barbecue rub so we're gonna start with one part sugar two days we're going to add one part salt one part per pika powder 1/8 part garlic powder 1/8 part onion powder 1/8 part curry powder and finally 1/8 part of white pepper now quickly mix it up this is gonna be so good I can already smell it especially with the garlic and the onion and paprika powder sniper rooster we got three roosters actually that's for where Hey we're recording a video here the quality's nice it's more like a Barbie barbeque I think she's going faster without you I think so is that on purpose I'm hungover so that you don't have any use of meat are you doing better with morcín are better without I've put my own LED strip into my death I did succeed i inflated my own swimming pool yeah I'm quite a handyman I'm the tech guy did you put that on your tinder date profile yes that I'm a handyman what what are you claiming that you actually put this together motion I did this so Deniz how is it I would still say it's like a children's barbecue I don't know I don't know what they thought when they made this this is the fire box they do realize that the fires on this side and you attach wood on the other side premium price you buy I gotta be honest I only did the first part of assembling I don't know a lot of these things I do know I can see with my own eyes this isn't quality this is gonna work I know one thing is is gonna be fun episode let's just fire this thing up and see what it can do so I'll start by putting in a fire starter nice we can fit this under direct top of it we're gonna be putting some big block charcoal that might be a bit much let's fire this up this is not the way to control the temperature it needs to be open for the air to flow through but as I'm lifting it up it already drops down again let's just stick a piece of charcoal in there and hope it stays open yeah that works well let the barbecue become fully lit up this is an offset smoker which means the fire is on one side and the smoke and actually cooking stone is on the other side this also means we need a lot of heat in our offset part to get this part up to temperature so we're looking at this temperature gauge and if it's to the point where it's 110 degrees Celsius then we can start smoking this giant pork belly it's absolutely insane look at the size of this thing absolutely gorgeous but we got the skin still on we're going to take that off freaking wasps get out of my way this is my pork belly we're just gonna work on a knife underneath now you might not want to throw this away because this makes for freaking awesome chicharrón on the inside I just want to clean off a little bit of that heart fat inspected the rest is perfect so I'm gonna keep it as it is all we need to do now sprinkle on our beautiful homemade barbecue rub make sure we get the rub to stick and then it's ready for our smoker let's check in to see if it's done charcoal is getting up to temperature I think we're gonna need a bigger fire motion blowtorch might work now we'll get this charcoal up to temperature I wanted as hot as I possibly can get it to make sure that we have enough heat for a smoker I'm also gonna be adding some beech tree firewood so I'm gonna get my little Kindle maker and we're gonna make some proper Kindle if I can find it somewhere over here I'm a hoarder I'm not a hoarder I got too much stuff that's true there she is waiting for me together normally I will be using an X - to use but I can't find my ex oh no these are your exes even this maybe you should do these can do it this is totally safe if you're watching this don't worry everything's gonna be fine just hit it Holy See so we're going to add this to our charcoal because it's smoker we're gonna need the smoke basically this is the the base of our fuel first we heat it up with some charcoal then we're going to use let's Kindle to get it further up to temperature and start smoking it seasoning our BBQ stuff again falls down again it's not good flex tape we need Flex tape Morrison Hey voila problem solved you always look so proud when you fix something I'm really happy I love fixing so you can see it now that we got a fire going we're going to close the firebox and as you can see here the heat is coming up through the pipe we still want to keep our fire going so at first we're going to open up the lid off the smoker section so the fire can Kankakee I got stuck again she's laughing at me more so why does she do it all the time air can go through we're sure that our fire keeps going and we can heat up our smoker you can see it it's coming morcín the heat is coming look at that more Sundy see it color change that's probably the paint starting to burn you shouldn't have paint on your smoker as you can see we have a lot of black smoke coming from the firebox that's not a good thing so we have to wait until the black smoke is gone that smoke is toxic so we just got to keep on burning this thing until the black smoke is fully dissolved there are flames coming out of the firebox and it's touching the handle I think we're past the point now where we got the black smoke and look at the color change the paint somehow changed from a glossy black to a matt finish black now we're going to close the lid keep that fire going and warm up the inside smoker house it's working it's doing what it's supposed to do we got the thin blue smoke coming out we're good we're ready to roll oh look at our pork belly I think it's gonna be changed but wow look at it fits the whole pork belly when I bought the offset smoker I expect it to be a little bigger so I ordered the full pork belly to go on it when I had it here I didn't expect it to fit four kilograms of pork belly look at that that's just crazy let's close the lid and let the smoke [Music] time to check on our little offset smoker by the way this thing has been running like a beast they've been a big block charcoal at the bottom a little bit of beech tree look at our pork belly look at that smoke flavor look at this it's been super stable throughout the whole cook as long as I kept feeding it a little bit of charcoal and a little bit of firewood it just kept going it kept its temperature and nothing unexpected happened it was it was super stable considering this is a $90 offset smoker that's really cheap but there are some flaws that we need to mention here the hinges are painted and that's not good they're starting to blister and with the first rain they're gonna be rusty the paint on the vent already burned off and as you saw the vent doesn't stick to its position you can't set it to anything but I found out it's just keep it closed it's gonna run perfectly fine because it it just takes up to so much air it doesn't close off anything the metal plates are so super thin it's not gonna last long I expect this thing to last for maybe up to ten cooks maximum and then it will probably be burned through the thermometer is utterly and completely crap don't believe anything it says it points up when it starts warming up but you can't believe that no nowhere close not even now this thing is not holding on to its fat properly and it's not discharging it properly either it just drips down into the bottom and it just falls out and it's dripping onto my beautiful beautiful concrete I think for the average user with a little bit of experience might be using this five times a year ten times a year it could be an option like like a sidekick or something fun to have as an extra but not as your reliable number one barbecue this is not something you want your main grill if you're an enthusiast if you want to be serious it's something fun on the side just to keep things spicing up time to take a look at our pork belly we got that beautiful mahogany color that we're looking for you got a little bit of dry burnt ends on the side because we got a higher temperature right next to the firebox and also a hot spot on the opposite side of course the air is coming up that's actually why you're better off with an oversized offset smoker you can't buy your offset smoker too big you can buy it too small though as you can see there we go this thing is super hot time to slice into our beautiful smoked pork belly Wow look at that that is some nice meat look at how the juice are running and flowing that is super super good you also got the beautiful smoke ring on the outside that is typical for a good smoke dry air a little thin blue smoke out of the stick this thing did a pretty good job let's slice some more the moment I've said oh they come running in this is some good stuff of course we got a beautiful rub on there it's still tender and juicy we only cooked it to around 63 to 65 degrees Celsius turnout absolutely fantastic let's turn this into a sandwich I appreciate that you are here hungry really wanting the sandwich the beginning upset your stomach is growling I know I feel so we've got a couple of sandwiches we got a cucumber some carrots just marathon's Garrett's coming up hop hop hop hop chop chop chop that's how we do it brother put him on a sandwich here's the sandwich you might think what why is he putting carrots on a sandwich it gives the sandwich a little bit of extra crisp and crunch and it will taste and easy before you look away here is the yellow magic this is our acidity when you're eating pork belly it's so super greasy and so super fat you need a little bit of acidity to balance it out so we're going to drizzle on a little bit of lime onto our carrots and cucumber yes Thank You Denise it was lemon I was wrong why do you never notice that Marshall is super amazing now if you want you can top this off with a little bit from the barbecue sauce good gonna honor you then you take the first one really another thing again it's a good sign I guess that smoker it's not too bad no this is my Martian you're gonna have to wait for yours the crunch of the vegetables is really good too the acidity acidity is fantastic I'm really loved just that squeeze of lemon in there and then the pork belly with the sweetness you're hungry Marshall now that was one tasty pork belly Bobby sandwich so I started this video out thinking at 80 euro or $90 offset smoker this is not gonna work it's gonna be a lot of fun to watch but it's not gonna work I was really surprised at how well it functions now do I recommend buying this thing absolutely not if you can't spare the money if you don't consider it to throw as a throwaway offset smoker don't buy it if you think it's gonna be fun and I want to try something on the side or maybe I want to try and offset smoking for the first time this might just be the one for you but I want to say thank you for watching so you guys want to thank them for
