today is a dream come true as a kid I always wanted a red Ferrari with the tan interior you know those big yellow horse emblems on the fenders the one time of year I'd see one going down the road I'd point it out to my dad and I tell him when I'm older I'm gonna get that car my dad from the driver's seat of his Lincoln Town Car would say I know a guy that had one once he had to flatbed it to the nearest Big City for an oil change and you know what that cost him like eight hundred dollars only a fool would buy one of those now my daddy's the smartest guy I know so I always tried to follow his advice except when it came to cars there's a reason Lincoln no longer makes a town car and why Ferrari is the most iconic car brand in history so when I saw this F430 with the mid-engine V8 in classic Ferrari red complete with the horse badges on the side and only 10 000 miles on the clock I couldn't help myself and the best part I got it for like a third of its normal price which I think is an amazing deal considering only a quarter of it's missing like usual I bought this car totally as is over a thousand miles away from where I live based solely off a few photos provided by an auction house that was selling it for an insurance company now I know you all want to know how much it costs and in a moment I'll let you know but what really matters is what it will cost all in to try and restore this car and to get it to where it was before it met its demise to give us the best chance of success here I've flown in my good friend Scott AKA radarosa he's the Prancing Horse Whisperer who knows this Ferrari chassis inside now with his brains and with my wallet I'm semi-confident we can get this thing up and running but you know what they say a cheap Ferrari can remain irrational much longer than its owner can stay solvent all right that's fine right there perfect well maybe one day we'll get it back in there the obvious problem the first obvious problem is in this area we have fire damage clarifier damage but what I like about this car is the damage and all the heat from this fire has all taken place in this area if you look slightly over here we haven't got too much of burn marks or anything like that in the actual engine itself everything over here has taken all of the kind of impact from the fire now the strange thing with this car number one look at this tire it's clearly been burnt but we still have air in this tire this is a an F1 car so we have all the lines that run down here we have all this wiring harness we have all the fluids that run to the F1 system that's potentially going to be a problem this uh fluid reservoir you can clearly see it's taken a bit of fire damage but why don't we open this cap up and just see if we've got any uh any actual fluid in there that would be a great sign if it's up if it's good Scott it's tough to see on camera but there is definitely let me tap it a little bit yeah I don't know a little bit of fluid look at that and it's the right color we've also got suspension here it looks like we've had a fuel tank problem and you can see here we've got a lot of charring now remember the fire was all right here likely began with a leaky uh what did you guess probably when the plastic fittings on the fuel pump is what I would guess yeah it's quite common thing on on these kind of Ferraris to have some kind of fuel leak over here and it looks like it's all started in that fuel tank area now if we take a look at this panel this is our inner engine side there is nothing on here this is watermarks yeah nothing there's no burn marks at all this is the side which is in this area here can you tell me can you see any Burma we've got we got writing here we've got a piece of paper there how is this even possible how has this survived that kind of fire another really nice upgrade to this car is the exhaust system very expensive system not only have we got the whole uh back box Muffler tips we've also got what looks to be the cats in there as well you can hardly see it here but they look like these are upgraded cats from stock Factory and I suspect as well we've also got the uh the manifold the headers down here these have been covered and it wouldn't surprise me if these are also an upgraded item and one other thing that is just incredible it blew the rear window out here but once you get inside beside a little bit of that Ash and debris right here the interior near Immaculate it's a nice nice upgrades on this car so if we look at the dash we start on the dash we've got these carbon trim pieces uh carbon bits all on the center console even in the door we've got the door pulls here this is all Factory carbon fiber and this is really expensive upgrades we've got the little speaker here the surround again carbon fiber really nice color it's a great color contrast this is one of the they call this resale red and we've got the tan lever interior with the red pipe in the seats are all mint whoever did this car ordered a really nice package let's go ahead let's roll it inside the garage that's gonna be half the battle right there and then we'll get to work okay great [Music] we've got the undertray of the car now and I can tell you it is mint down here there's hardly any any sign we've had a fire the bottom of the tank where we've got the rubber pipe that's perfect I've got a cover here I'm trying to get this cover off but yeah looking really really good down here super super happy with the results so far [Music] yeah oh yeah wow nice and charred and you could see how good it all is back here this right here is just a piece up what is this yeah melted now with the trim removed we have greater access to our fire damage components which gives us an idea of what parts we'll need in order to get this car not only to run but to drive most obvious here is all of our damage wiring I've taken a look at the Ferrari parts diagram and referenced it with all the wiring that runs the length the rear passenger side of the car and ordered replacement Looms from fur Parts which is America's largest Ferrari dismantler they had most of what we needed for this car including an entire rear suspension Corner which should allow the car to drive and since all these parts were secondhand we saved a huge bundle of money versus ordering new from the dealer besides the electrical and suspension stuff the last place we need to focus our attention is the fuel system which is what likely led to this Ferrari's demise notice our charred fuel pump this has to come up and out which on these Coupe Mid Engine cars is a bit of a hassle first off scott loosened the fuel tank mounts which gave us an opportunity to check all the hoses and connections to see what else might need to be replaced while we're in here with the fuel tank loose we're able to anglet off to the side and finally pull up and out this pump from the engine Bays wow there's the charred fuel pump only got 10 000 miles on it too these are not cheap from Ferrari okay listen this is always the tricky bit wow not bad a little bit of fuel in there just look down the bottom yeah that's it at this point I'm really certain it was the passenger side fuel pump that started the fire in this Ferrari I could tell you that pretty confidently because this isn't the first Ferrari 430 to catch on fire in the quarter panel area you see this car and its predecessor the 360 came straight from the Ferrari factory with faulty fuel pumps the Plastics used in the top hat of these pumps well they become brittle very rapidly and they would crack right on the top where the fuel flowed out of instead of the fuel flowing through the lines it would go straight up and out of the top of the pump and right over the fuel tank where the pump sits well as a hot catalytic converter now while this is a serious problem which spans several thousand cars it's pretty easy to rectify since you will have a very strong gasoline odor the second that fuel starts seeping out of the top hat you got to think the pumps are located directly behind the driver and the passenger and it's hard to go unnoticed now the replacement pumps for these cars has been revised with a stronger top hat that doesn't leak which is is great news it's really easy to tell whether you get the new or the old style but just looking at the top of them if you've got one that's white in color it's the old style if it's yellow you got the new style and having done this once before on a Ferrari 360 this is one of those jobs where you can save a ton of money if you just use a few tricks so if we went to the Ferrari dealer to buy these fuel pumps they would be well over a thousand bucks each which is no surprise but if we go online and search we'll find a few listings for them between five and seven hundred dollars new but we can do way better than that this is just a Bosch fuel pump which is commonly sold outside of the USA without the Ferrari stamp on it for literally a fraction of the cost here's how I track them down first I'll pop open nordvpn and connect to a VPN in the United Kingdom now when I go back to the site and search for the same exact thing Ferrari 430 fuel pump look at this we have multiple listings for these pumps ranging around 130 pounds including shipping to the US I was able to buy each of these pumps under 200 this is the same story with a lot of European car parts but you'd never see this unless you are ordering outside of the United States that's because a lot of websites use geographically base sales structures so depending on where you're located you'll see different products at different prices and the difference can be pretty sizable like in our case we just save roughly 600 bucks unrestricting your online shopping is just one of the several benefits you'll get with nordvpn but at the same time you can unlimit your content choices when watching any number of streaming platforms like here on Netflix by rerouting my traffic to France I just unlocked most of the Justice League films that weren't available in the states it only takes one click to connect to a VPN anywhere in the world with nordvpn and when you do your internet traffic is secure impenetrable and untrackable by anyone which is especially important in today's day and age I'm a firm believer that if you use the internet you need a good VPN to go along with it nordvpn is the best I've been a paid subscriber of theirs for over five years now and it saved me literally thousands of dollars by just being virtually located other parts of the world while shopping online check out the cost savings for yourself by hitting that link in in the description box when you do you're going to get 69 off their two year plan and then they're going to throw four months on top of that for free it equals out to be something around three dollars a month the fee is totally nominal to protect your online life and save a good bit of money while you do it's all over at nordvpn.com samcrack this is where a couple of the major harnesses entered the cab and they're just destroyed a couple other burnt up pieces up there tough to see and then right by the headers that's what we saw above those are just uh wire at this point that are no good and on the interior side of the car where these harnesses run it looks perfect which is good news you can see like right here is where one of the grommets runs into the car there's another couple down in this corner so we just got to start by unplugging most of the modules here taking some notes to make sure we get everything plugged in that way our car might actually work when we're with this maybe I'm gonna do it a little bit by a little bit I would do it all at once but I've got these blunt things that don't cut through anything laughs get you a grinding wheel down there if you want it won't cut any of it I literally have to do it one by one Sam loves expensive tools that last how much were these like one dollar 50 pence one dollar for a set of five geez how long are you gonna take to chop this yeah give me good tools it would have been done already Chopped all the way we're ready for surgery all right let's see if I can pull that side out now come on well that English man talks all that poppy what we did here we just chopped the end of this wire off these are all you know good connectors just in case we need a replacement but here's where things got nasty right here on the uh burnt end now this is the fatter end of the harness and since it has to fit through that small box what we want to do now is start to feed through one by one the little side so this is going to be uh well that's somewhere in the middle really we're going to start here we're going to feed those through one by one make sure not to damage anything and then we'll end up with just the grommet in the hole where it belongs and then our major major wires in the cabin [Music] and like that one of our major cables is RAM and you can see the replacement harness has that really nice grommet on there that's going to plug directly into that hole seal it up make it uh weather resistant so Scott is working from the back here somewhere and he's plugging it all up that one has quite a bit of connections on it because it controls our F1 system and then this side is for the engine control you can imagine due to the electrical fire in the burn wiring harnesses that we're going to have probably quite a few blown fuses here the first one I'm pulling out actually is blown so we're gonna go fuse by fuse and replace each one of them that is blown we've reached a pretty critical part of this rebuild where we have all of the damage harnesses replaced they are all also Loosely connected at this point just in case we have any issues we have our fuel pump replaced tightened with new vent tubes and hoses all connected Scott is down here just buttoning up the major fuel line cross member that connects both tanks to each other we went and replaced that I'm going to come around the back here this is a annual override for Ferraris so if you don't have power to the car this will open up your fuel tank and we're going to open this up and fill it up with fuel are you ready I'm ready here we go so why Sam fills it up I'm down here keeping a very very close eye on the pipe so this is our burnt side this is the one I'm concerned about we've hooked up the balance pipe now the car is actually an angle it's fake it's down towards Sam so the amount of fuel we're going to put in is minimal just so we can test this and then the next step we're going to lower this side slightly more than the other so our fuel comes through to this tank and that is going to be the key bit so this is our bit of rubber pipe that we've replaced it goes from the tank to the balance pipe we're hoping it's going to be good so all the fuses both on the left and the right hand side we only had four blown ones they all came from the passenger side where we had the burnt wiring looms and the crazy thing is they were all 15 amps so maybe in a bit we'll check and see exactly what were your place we can clearly see the ones because they look quite a bit different than the factory ones but right now we've got a couple grounds to connect a battery to get in and a key to start this engine you think it's going to work I don't know about starting it right now but uh we're gonna check to see if everything seems to well you see you don't seem very like confident about this you're a little well the only reason I'm not confident is we haven't got a fire extinguisher around here no we do right there on the wall look okay we're good well let's see the fire extinguisher look is right there all right so we all know where it is you know the the way to work it you pull the pin push the button don't pull the pin yet I've had Ferraris before good what was that cool fire all right here we go back in here all right three [Music] two ready one yep do I have to put my foot on the brake yeah okay well let me get in here hold on let's just try again you know I don't know let's see here foot on the brake do that again no nothing back in do you have to turn that key all the way yeah to there yeah that's right no same thing foot all the way down nothing all right so we had that failed start temp last night it's a new day um the good thing is nothing bad came out of that start time no uh smoke no fire everything is still hooked up all the fuel is good none of the fuses we reinstalled were blown we looked up those fuses and we'll get to everything we replaced in a second nothing nothing out of the ordinary actually I thought we were going to have blown fuses for fuel pumps and things like that and I don't know that we did we had like brake light fuses and stuff blown so uh Scott is checking this corner again double checking all the wiring and the grounds making sure everything is in there I'm on the interior where we've got a couple different ideas of what might be wrong why this car isn't starting but you find anything back here so back here I'm double checking all the wiring on the F1 system because did you mention we are not getting any wearing from the pump so normally when you have the car fully operational with the battery if you open just open the driver's door you will hear the F1 pump kick in we've got no noise from the F1 pump so I'm checking that can't see anything obvious but we're also trying to think outside the box we've got as you can see in the corner here no hub no suspension so I'm just checking we've got about three or four different connectors we haven't connected up and I'm just trying to Loosely put them in just to see if this is going to make any difference pull up a fuse box diagram on my phone the numbering that you can see on the bright colored fuses those are all Factory ones and the ones I replaced are these blue ones here there's three there one there now I've already pulled up what they all are on here on my phone I'm just going to tell you really quick fuse number four is an O2 sensor that blue fuse number five is a stoplight sensor that blue number 12 runs a bunch of different things but they're on that right hand engine Side of Everything number 25 which is the far one over here that's for the fuel pump those all make sense because again we had all wiring issues in this corner of the car so I've checked mainly those four that I replace and nothing blew again when we were trying to start the car so that is a really good sign Sam look at this check this one out this one's blown they're big fuse this big this is a maxi fuse we've only got four check the other three this last one where is it set 30 amp one of these here let's check on the uh diagram see which one it is where is it set on there it looks like there's a couple spaces so uh one two three space four space five okay so driver's side let's see right at the bottom come on I think this is it right here so yeah it's gonna be where there's six slots and you say it's five down yeah five down so it's number 31 check it out you won't believe it F1 edif pump that's what we want perfect that's why we're not getting any movement this is a power cut off switch we've been using as we've been messing with the electrical stuff in here one turn should give this car Power I just heard a click so we've got power go ahead and open the door there we go all right who's gonna start it you have to be honest it's your car but you you have to do one thing for me you got to hold that the fire extinguisher and look for fire that's a good idea all right Scott if this thing catches fire I'm really wedged in here the seat is not connected so I need you to move fast all right got the key I took it out for saving you know we got to do things in the proper Ferrari fashion so we hit the button all right now put the key in let's see what it tells us we're still flashing neutral but it does say check okay wow we ready foot on the brake look at the fire make sure there's no fire in the back that's what we're worried about here yeah it's okay that's true here we go oh what do we blow again hold on let's just shut it off see if it says check okay check okay no smelly no burning [Applause] for three years we've had no fuel in it so it sounds a little bit louder but it started shall we should we check oil I did have a look uh I looked at the oil before but you can't really check this can you until it's run no you can't so that's the problem with Ferraris is that they're on a dry sump oh look now there we go looks all right yeah so with the dry sump that dipstick there will be completely completely dry until the cars run and we should point out that we have looked at this and nothing appears to have leaked out we've got F1 fluid in here uh we did check this I checked the coolant level as well uh the power steering all there really this was just burnt here all of the I see why it was making a funny noise look at this bracket it's sitting in the middle of here clanking around that's going to cause some noise yeah okay that was a strong and also we have a sports exhaust on this it's going to be very loud look at the size of these tips well we've got the sports exhaust and there's one other thing we've got we've got all the air conveyancer off the side here well the first time you start these cars just like the 360 it always sounds like garbage because it's doing an adaptation right a good six eight well probably 30 seconds I would say but maybe 60 seconds before it really kind of irons itself out all right I'm too excited we gotta run it again we gotta hear it try and even out idle out because if that's the case we put a suspension on this car and it's running so we ran the Ferrari again this time for longer and it sounded amazing it idled down and it idled smooth but while Scott was keeping watch on the engine bay he began to smell raw gas it was coming from the most obvious place the opposite side fuel pump now we're really lucky we already had the new spare on hand but a bit annoyed as we wanted to get in our first test drive on the 430 and as we already went through this is a very tedious job on the coop since you have to loosen the gas tank either way a tedious job is better than another burn quarter so he spent the rest of the day fitting in our second fuel pump and suspension and when we finished we got the ultimate payoff this is the moment this car has never moved since Sam had it can just move it move in look at that okay go back a little bit foreign wait a minute wait a minute yeah all the lights work good just about five work days with the helper radarosa we're at a great point with this building can now shift Focus to its burned body so say goodbye to Scott for now and bring in another familiar face to keep this Ferrari rolling what are you doing you're gonna cut your nuts off are we shipped in a brand new OEM quarter panel and this guy right here v-tune I came straight from Italy just now it's been a long time since you've been here you know what happened last time you were in this garage oh we fixed that green Ferrari professionally professionally and you know who gave me the idea to use the rivets the glue it was you and you know what I'm totally cool with it I think it worked out well the audience on the other hand uh they were a little skeptical of it I want to know how this quarter panel comes off because on the newer mid-engine cars you know on these McLarens these Lamborghinis you just unbolt these things but uh well Ferrari is different Ferrari's been welding quarter panels on forever even the 2022 models you have to weld it which is kind of ridiculous I mean like I'm on McLaren everything just unbolts but Ferrari's always done it differently we're going to do a splicing probably somewhere right here that's where most Factory recommends it is like right before it's like a couple inches before the roof and then same thing over here you'll probably be halfway through there this is going to be the most straightforward quarter panel replacing the job I've ever done the cool thing about this car is there's no accident damage it's literally just burned v-tune has a great Point here even though this Ferrari looks horrific the damage is much more manageable than if it were crashed into think of this burn quarter panel like the car's skin and the inner frame portions as its bones besides a bit of burn paint on our inner structure it's perfect and we just need to replace the skin here A Part which basically has no bearing on the strength of the car's body the car were crashed into and the structure was bent well there will be a ton of additional work here but at this point all we need to do in order to remove our burn skin is a little bit of disassembly and a handful of cuts with this angle grinder [Music] thank you anyway I just did a quick trim so then we can get back here sand everything down and basically prep it for the new quarter or what are we doing with this quarter right here the rest of that quarter a third of the quarter I think it would it would probably be nice to go to a museum for what you can direct cars I thought you're gonna say the Museum of washed up YouTube guys look at that easy this has been under wraps in this box for I don't know what two and a half years it has to have been this is supposedly the last Factory right side quarter panel for a Ferrari 430 that's brand new it's probably been in this box for like 15 years if you think about it now our quarter panel will be the most expensive replacement part for our Ferrari project and it cost around 3 500 bucks including shipping to America which is a bit hard to Fathom for a thin piece of aluminum but figuring it is a brand new Factory piece and not a used one it will require very little Bodywork to make perfect which in turn will save us a bit of labor at the body shop now it's time to test fit everything and what's really great here is the amount of roof pillar that came with our new quarter and the amount still left on the car everything is working out perfect with our initial test fit V2 is able to mark exactly where I'll cut the pillar so that the replacement panel lines up and can be welded right in place he was being very careful with this and just cut a little segment at a time to be sure that we didn't take off too much at once with each cut in each test fit the quarter fit better and better beautiful look at that Ben perfect a gap looks amazing right off the bat let's compare it to the other side maybe a little closer but you're going to weld it in place you're gonna push it in yes I don't know it's pretty darn identical right off the bat I'm Amazed now would you say that that Harbor Freight measuring tape is as accurate as the set of calipers this is just b-roll I'm not even measuring anything we are so close to being able to weld a replacement panel in for good but while we still have access to everything that sits under here we've got to use this opportunity to clean up our burn paint damage on the frame I started with the drum sander and stripped all the original coating off of our square tubing and just using other various tools and sandpaper we scuffed and stripped pretty much all the damaged surfaces V2 followed up with a bit of self-etching primer and then some chassis coating to match the Ferrari factory finish Also let's quickly swap out this charred F1 fluid reservoir this was really straightforward all we had to do was siphon the whole fluid out remove a couple bolts swap the replacement Reservoir in and refill foreign tell me exactly where we're using the glue on this thing we're going to use the glue right here all through this area over here it's all going to get panel bonded and then ripped panel bonded and riveted wait that's the way I fixed the floor in my 360 and I caught a lot of criticism for that well because you did a really terrible job but this is some of the strongest adhesive there are some quarter panels correct me if I'm wrong that are strictly panel bonded in the cars there are a lot of roofs nowadays that are strictly panel bonded in the cars but we're not just using this we're going to weld it in a second when Peter shows up show me where we want to put this and let's get it going Ben you're a modern day Hunter Biden with that paintbrush I actually bought one of his paintings was it a nft one or what was it a painting of the naked man in Ukraine now let's see why did you leave it in the sun Ben I was baking it is it good to put on quarter panels warm yeah dries with heat okay all right so this is the actual final installation this is it the panel's in place and now we just need it welded in a handful of spots to complete the repair for this v-tune pulled a few strings and got the internet's most famous welder Peter zela Peter's not just a welder he's an instructor and actually designs welding machines for the pros if there's anyone we want to weld this aluminum quarter panel it's zela he brought along with him in HTP welder which like our Ferrari is also made in Italy and with all the settings dialed in Peter gets to work but now without a small interruption oh I don't like that ice [Music] somebody's standing on the green holes for the gas or something yes yeah okay I wasn't standing on it with all my weight but that's okay it's still some gas coming through just not that much there she goes there that looks better okay nice [Music] so Peter you said that there were two different options here the tig and the Mig were going with the TIG welder right the bigger guy why this machine versus the other AC DC TIG produces no sparks versus pulse make which produces Sparks and since we didn't feel like removing all the interior out of the inside to not start it on fire again we used AC DC TIG because there is no sparks really flying there's a little bit heat yes you have to melt the metal but there's no sparks flying like it would be on on Mig now you also said something really funny and interesting the htp's parent company and you can see right here look it says made in Italy hcp's parent company is stealth Stell and Stell is the brand of welders that are at the Ferrari factory right they have welders at the Ferrari factory correct so is this basically let's call it basically the welder that they'd use at the Ferrari factory they use when they built these cars they actually mig weld them there's no interior in it yet so they have mig welders at the factory but it's the same brand from the same company the same technology so it's the same just say it's the same machine it's the same machine it's the same exact machine very cool [Music] ah we got lucky on that one look how nice that looks we really got lucky on that one why do you say we get lucky it's better to be lucky that to be good I once found a really talented guy and that came somebody was more talented and just outdid him I've never heard of a really lucky guy and somebody came out lucky him all right let me rub the rest of this too right how much you have to well no the factory one is not welded up there you wanna we need another quarter inch up to here I mean if you want to I weld it all the way up but the factory one see it's not welded up a little bit just another quarter inch okay all right Peter look at this it's on it doesn't move I'm doing I'm going to do the hip bounce test like you do if the car was on jack stands because we know this will be on jack stands in the very near future I want to thank you so much for coming out here getting this welded up perfectly and now what we're just a little bit of pain away from absolutely making it look like make you the welder I'm aimed you know before V2 showed up every time I'd walk in this garage I'd see a Ferrari with the giant burn hole in the side and in just two days with the help of Peter we're a little bit of pain away from finishing this thing up now I've been known to spray and pray inside of an inflatable paint booth but this Ferrari is deserving of a bit better and that's where Mitchell Collision comes in we got really lucky here as it's becoming very difficult to find a reputable Auto Body Shop willing to take on a job that someone already started the owner DJ looked over the car and was very welcoming he told me on a Tuesday afternoon that if I left the car there now it would be painted by the weekend Mitchell is an impressive operation and well known as one of the best Tesla repair facilities in the area I left the car and returned to little later where I found Dan already prepping the quarter now he let me know that the rivets we use might not be so ideal for a Ferrari and that self-piercing rivets are the way to go foreign s the metal in the aluminum in with the rivet and just kind of mushrooms everything together so there's a there's a continuous seal from here to there there's no way this tool is like a handheld hydraulic press and the difference is very noticeable from here Dan knocked down any of the obvious imperfections in the quarter and smoothed out all the welds once finished up the car moves over to the Candyman a veteran painter of 30 years known for a show car quality paint jobs right before he started working on the Ferrari he was finishing up a restoration of this 1982 Corvette collector's edition this is the car right after paint with no finishing work at all [Music] all right so we've got this rough stuff so that way we have adhesion for the epoxy because that's the best way of uh prepping this out for the foundation of it so we wanted to make sure we put down an epoxy then we're going to put down our fillers and we ground down this area here where the weld was so once we get this treated we'll go ahead we'll put our filler on and then we'll move into our 2K primers that way we have something to sand for paint while the primer dries now would be a good time to discuss exactly what a project like this costs first off consider that a coupe Ferrari of this year with a relatively low 10 000 miles would retail around 150 000 I paid right around fifty five thousand dollars just for the car at auction my first visit was to a European part shop where I got the quarter for 3 500 new and The Rocker for 500 use which was a deal then we went to fur parts for all the wiring harnesses suspension and spare wheel which ran twenty five hundred dollars now by the time I bought a handful of spare parts like trim glass and the fuel pumps I probably spend around another 2500 so before our trip to the body shop we're in this car around 64 Grand now paint and body rates very shop to shop but figures somewhere around 55 to 65 per labor hour maybe a little bit more because this is a Ferrari while I'm not sure the final towel yet I'd have to estimate this job is around 30 hours give or take add the cost of paint and shop supplies and we'll have this car finished in the ballpark a 70 thousand dollars Which is less than half a comparable retail one of course this car will carry a branded title along with it the rest of its life but that's just kind of how this works you get a steep discount with a sizable risk attached now that you know the numbers yourself let me know what you think in the comments would you try a project like this if it meant a 50 discount on a car you desired either way our Ferrari is finally ready for paint to assure a proper match the rest of the factory paint this special camera and software were used which can bring up the exact paint code and adjust the mix according to its current shade the software will show you exactly what the recommended mix will look like next to the car it's pretty incredible and it's clear that Mitchell's setup is a bit more high-tech than my Bounce House booth in the final hours before paint we are joined by a special guest Brian helped move things along to the booth the paint was mixed and we were ready to go now remember DJ the owner of Mitchell told me that this car which was dropped off on a Tuesday would be painted by the weekend and to be honest I was a bit skeptical but here we are on Friday right on schedule I'm sure you've heard this before but 90 of every paint job is prep work Candyman literally had the base coat down in just a few minutes but there was a lot of prep work that went into this and if you're interested in the detailed paint process I highly suggest you check out his video which I'll leave a link to down in the description box just 48 hours after this car rolled out of the booth Candyman and let me know it was assembled and ready to be picked up which was the next Tuesday now the obvious truth is we got a heck of a team here which helped this be the most efficient rebuild we've ever done now things aren't exactly 100 finished on our Ferrari but over the span of around 12 days we took it from this to this and now to this if you've made it this far and aren't subscribed to the channel make sure you hit that button below especially since this isn't the last you'll see of the F430 or other budget exotic rebuilds as I was driving the Ferrari out of the paint shop I couldn't stop thinking that I had just achieved one of my childhood dreams that thought was cut short as my dad's voice entered my head only fool would buy one of those foreign
