He also apparently bought a Aston Martin DB7 yesterday as well. Who is his daddy and what does he do

I drove by Hoovie's house the other day and there was a bunch of porsches out front. Oh boy

The interior on that one looks brand new too. Whoever owned it obviously took care of it.

Bulletproof engine, so what the hell is he going to break on this one??

Best of luck, that is a much better choice than nearly anything in your fleet!

I'm so thankful they're still a 911 that many enthusiasts hate why do you hate this thing you think it's ugly you think it's unreliable and you don't like the fact that it's not air-cool they we're pragmatic with their engineering but for that reason this 996 chassis 911 produced from 1998 to 2005 is the lone 911 that most of us normal guys can still afford even though my first round with the 996 didn't go very well didn't exactly have the happiest of endings with the it was still a good enough experience that it deserved a sequel and I'm hoping this 2002 911 Turbo that I just bought will be my own version of the Empire Strikes Back The Godfather Part 2 is that good and if you're the type of person that prefers the book to the movie which doesn't really apply to the Empire Strikes Back with the Godfather but but anyway link below is an article on autotrader.com slash oversteer where I talk about my latest great purchase for those who haven't followed my greatest automotive failure which is saying a lot because there have been a lot of fails documented on this YouTube channel about two years ago I purchased the cheapest 911 available in the USA with a manual transmission and a clean title now this scruffy 911 with a whopping 243 thousand miles on it set me back only $9,500 but it still ran great that is at least until I took it to the track for the first time now before this it was about six months of almost flawless operation and after the car blew up I stupidly decided to get rid of the expensive to rebuild Porsche engine and swap it with a cheaper LS v8 from a Chevrolet Corvette now turned out it would have been way cheaper to rebuild the original 911 engine as the Frankenstein of an LS swap ended up costing seventeen thousand dollars all in for the conversion parts for the labor to figure out how to make it all work it was it was bad it was really bad now the car ran very well after that it was super fast but the exhaust setup was so loud that I didn't want to drive it as much I'd planned to dial back the exhaust but before that the engine grenaded again at the track the exact same track that I grenaded the original porsche engine a year earlier I was so disgusted with the car at that point that I ended up spending another thirty six thousand dollars to permanently fix the problem and the solution was to buy a really really nice 911 turbo I would love to tell you that I'm a rational human being and planned this purchase but buying this car was actually a big accident I was browsing an auction and impulsively bid on this 911 turbo fully expecting someone to outbid what I perceived to be a very low number that didn't happen and it was actually marginally above the sellers reserve which was also really low so I ended up buying a Porsche that day all I really wanted to do is procrastinate on the internet for an hour or so and ended up buying a pretty expensive car thankfully near regrets that I had to sleep it's nice and all that stuff went away the moment this car arrived in my opinion the 996 is the only 911 turbo left that is a good value as the average asking price of an older air-cooled turbo the ones that people put up on pedestals in worship like it's a God cost more than a decent house in Kansas now one could argue those are pretty good investments no the bubbles a little you know if you right now but those cars are aging they'll require a lot of work to keep going and it's not likely you're gonna find somebody that understands bosch mechanical fuel injection that powers those cars at a Pep Boys so the only person really getting a decent ROI on those old air-cooled Porsches are the Wizards of the mechanical world the wizards rich he's filthy filthy rich unfortunately even the newer turbo cars that have followed this 996 are also very expensive and while they are faster and very pretty I suspect the real reason the vast disparity in price exists is because of the shape of the headlights that's why this angle of the videos showing this beautiful where you're in with a spoiler and not not that in but thankfully I can't see the oddly shaped headlights when I'm driving it and they don't bother me enough to turn my nose up at a 415 horsepower all-wheel drive 6-speed rocketship that I can comfortably haul my five-year-old around in in the back seat this thing's epic I mean this it's not that bad it's really not just just just kind of squint now the 911 turbo also benefits from surprising reliability as it lacks the infamous IMS barring issue the Metzger racing-inspired engine actually sounds broken when you start it up and it idles kinda sounds like a box of rock just rattling around inside the engine but that's normal it's it's normal I swear it's normal [Music] now I'm a new turbo only has 76,000 miles on it which is really low for a 2002 car but it's not that low for Porsche 911 and it's not stuck either it's benefited from some improvements like a gt2 style clutch basically the a hydraulic system that assisted the clutch pedal to make it easier to push was really weird in these stock they would have different bite points depending on how it was pushed so it's hard to get a consistent feel for the clutch serving all that out and getting a new clutch is a popular model in this car also has Bilstein lowering springs and it does handle really well oh boy yeah the acceleration is just perfect on this car it's not insanely fast to where I'm going totally illegal speeds to have any kind of fun but it's still enough to get your blood pumping oh this is great buying this car is actually kind of an achievement unlocked for me because my dad actually had a 2004 911 turbo cab back when I was about a freshman in college is when he bought it and even to this day when he buys a new car he's very protective over it with me he kind of hides the keys because back in 2006 or so when he bought this car he told me not to drive it he was going out of town from work and he said do not take this car out sometimes like well I'm gonna take the car out dad of course I'm gonna take the car out he just emphatically said do not tribe my car I didn't follow his wishes to a point I still had to go find the keys because I knew he hid the keys in the sock drawer I think he was in San Diego and I called him up and said so you still hide your keys in your sock drawer huh and started up his car in the garage and wrapped it a little bit and he screamed at me I didn't actually drive it but I gotta have a little bit of fun of his expense and how I have one of these cars of my own he sold his because he got tired of the manual transmission he traded it in a lease on an SL 2009 SL 550 that he actually still has it only has 2,000 miles on it I don't remember what my dad paid for that 911 Turbo but it was a lot now they've depreciated enough that I got this car for less than a fully loaded Honda Accord and that means I really am not too scared to drive it anywhere all the time for the past month that I've had this 911 turbo since I purchased it it's sat outside in my driveway just covered in dirt there's dead bugs all over the windscreen and the nose of the car and I just don't care I know it'll clean up it's a modern car so it can take some exposure to the elements and not get too weathered and when I want to hose it off it'll it'll just clean up no problem and it's nice that a 911 of this era is so unassuming it's kind of a sleeper you surprise people with how fast it is but also it's nobody really cares about it parked in a parking lot or I can take it to the stores really do whatever I want and not get a lot of attention unlike my phantom or the Ferrari that I don't have anymore so this really is a super logical impulse buying it's the best mistake I ever made if I were doing it all over again I would probably do it again except maybe I would get a convertible because I like convertibles and that's what my dad had but this thing was also a really good deal at $36,000 so not gonna knock it I don't get it how can people not like this car I have such strong opinions against it it's it's so good it's so good I still have my 85 pereira I've no plans of getting rid of it at this point but it does feel like an old car the air-conditioning barely keeps up it is hello the clutch is a little wonky but that's factory stock it's a beautiful car but this is way more fun way more fun and it really doesn't have any problems the next videos usually here's everything that's wrong with whatever I bought and this one already had a pre-purchase inspection done and all the issues taken care of before the guy put it up for auction so I really don't know what to do from here so really this 911 is the closest I've come to making a rational grown-up purchase I'm adulting now it'll probably make for boring videos though but considering the drama the rest of my fleet creates it'll be nice to have one fun car that I can actually depend on just don't expect me to go to the track with it any time soon no no way yep thank you for watching [Music]
