[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Oh [Music] Oh [Music] live in studio here on kxb with uno - Wow absolutely brilliant it's such a pleasure to be with you in this room and to hear you live I'm DJ rhythm and I'm speaking with cyan papa one of the four members of 102 you're one of the founding members correct right in 1992 so we've been doing this for a while sign can you please introduce yourself and the rest of the band members and also talk a little bit about the instruments that you're playing today okay we are play with many of instruments ish we have three or four instruments especially from my left side is our drummer who also make it instruments for himself especially Eagle drum whatever his he was a very good singer called nameless alex is arugula and and I'm play instruments called Tosh Peru both side skin mountain goat skin we use mostly no instruments it's special it's very good for sound for the humanly and I'm also play a Jew and the keytar my name but as a young co-founder our group our oldest man who real knows it's deeply knows our ancient culture music language fairytales he also plays with Scala TGO like me and Alexei and also to play instruments collectors Paracas Peru he have nametag Aloha Moloch and flute player Basanti player you hear it and first song very ancient south of our music culture it's also used we are using specially large civilian tree for the instruments horses hair for the strings mountain goats for the skin top of the to put through the box he also one of our very good for all singers men please welcome its ragic to roof our instruments I told you it's very ancient I don't know we are doesn't check when it's tough to made it this type of instruments it's founded thousand years ago I think it's very simple where is warm sound and also we are together they did singing our different fall singing styles it's kind of information yes so you started in 92 and I remember reading reviews from albums and from shows whenever you first started playing and then through the late 90s and it seemed like every time you had a show and then you release new albums it was you were always taking people off guard especially people who didn't understand your culture firsthand and that still happens today you know as you play these shows they they may kind of connect you through you know classic throat singing or you have these instruments they've never seen before can you talk a little bit about what makes Tuvan culture unique and special and obviously you talk about it through your songs but can you educate us you know briefly on like what what does it mean to celebrate Tuvan culture through music oh i frequency we have to get a lot of travel around the globe and meeting with many of musician from another country from another continent it's yeah they say now I'm real say this it's very unique our music culture very deepness and very strong still strong and it's we are like the same like instrument at the same it's voice where doesn't check it so we are trying to find it when they started our people singing like that or made it instruments it doesn't shake it's just our all these people call it is like it's fallen thousand years ago do it this music way of singing or instruments around the globe it's around the center of Asia special people nationality who also do something like from singing only just how we are check you know this is mostly roots of a mostly kind of main main main of throat singing style in the tour it's some many of the nationality around the center of Asia is kind of something lost many of the deepest culture in the - I don't know this may be we are living specially place around us it's very high mountains it's like we are living like in the box by information by not so much mixing with another culture is so kind of deep independent all the time living and also very important for our music is our language is very illogical very kind of touchable is very have this if you have our protein stylist cave laters where is very important how you do it these leaders you're singing yes especially you open a closed mouth you have tongue you have scalpel to have had you have chairs to have their problem this is all this body start to work with this many of styles yeah listen all Thai people Mongolian people is very similar it's for one of roots I think is I wanna just we are knows where is it real where is real fraud deep fraud not like overtone singing not like another kind of singing it's in our situation we are if we listen carefully we are checking it's weary how we are produced sound where it deep and very smooth and very warm and it's in the music culture in towards also kind of we are nomadic people we are not made it just for concert music it's just concert for family for animals whatever it is just for for the tiger for the forest you just travel and singing it's mostly to one people it's very good singers woman or man sits like to sing all the time it's during the day of course ends yeah you you you dog in to add some follow-up questions about throat singing itself and then the the practice of and the ability to you know almost at the same time be able to make two different sounds and you talked a little bit about the the process that you go to do that both with your voice box and then using you know your cheeks and maybe your head and your ears and other muscles what how do you learn to do this how do you how does this get passed on from a cultural perspective especially at the level that you have all mastered this oh you need to learn all the life I think it's it's you start usually they start it's like real main game how this main start to listen around around the world is what is mean sound from the animals for you hear it around you these birds you start to do it something like that it's like game the same with this situation you feel it around you how the singing grandfather of fathers or uncle's or brothers you you start to make it similar like like all these people and start to do it from the four years or five years old and just for game not for special is just on later who wanted who real like music start to do it for himself it's not special basic education it's just very special also warts lyrics all the time kind of allegory between human being life and between the nature and after the lyrics kind of have this essence sometimes why we why we are play with instruments flute whatever violin guitar as we are not singing as we are playing is just instrument in the same this situation after the beautiful lyrics Ward's men start to do this sounds like essence essence of the wars essence of the lyrics and it's just flute all the time with me all the time in my body in my mind yes I don't need it instruments nothing I say no this I have drawn I have the rhythm I have top of the drone and melody I have top of rhythm and drone I have Mellie whatever is it's for to and people it's very important you like harp you know small instruments you play all the time with you is small you putting this here in situation the same and just you don't have anything with just your voice and special technique you talking about the muscles it's of course it's special why we are talking about this we have been in New York University it's early writings and some scientists medicine University about the voice or pro voices or rock singers who make a destroyed sample some day muscle cells start to healing there and start to kind of renovation by voice and put it in our nose in our in our mouth camera small camera and we are first time looking warrior what we are doing we are just feel it we are just knows how this is and just now we are exactly looking what kind of muscles start to work start for moving and start to vibrate it especially additional additional vocal cords is called sleeping course in medicine or harsh chords it's around the usual normal course of this some sleeping course called in mostly situation an opera singer rock singer or how we are talking we are never used all our life we are never used this part of our muscles in our situation is totally different starting if we are make it high pitch start to tension moving and it's real tension it's like string and you put it drone on top of the drone after the small small hole from your throat it's like around three millimeters or two is brief your air starts going to up and you start to make it sound clear and clean sound by lips mouth tongue scalps I talked before this chairs diaphragm wearing suits whatever this you but is startled then shall make attention or relax it's different situation in the low frequency is in the car girl is how men do it low so it's mostly muscles sleeping courses start o relaxing and start to make it drone on top of the drone will make it also by breathe by air will make it different kind of position in our scalp live tongue and try to find it by also specially you know how this overtones special overtones by lasers laters are oh it is very helpful for the our clear note is like flute from top of the top of the control it's the interesting interesting is a bad word the wonderful that the gift to see it live versus maybe even it's sitting in front of you being able to see you individually like harmonize with yourselves and then to move through the spectrum is as wonderful yeah is and I was thinking about that the the your band name I guess the literal translation is Sun propeller is that correct yeah and I was like wow this name is genius because if you take a step back you were literally covering the entire kind of audible spectrum of sound and you do it in a way that is is absolutely beautiful like the Sun so yeah so thank you so much here so truly fascinating thank you for being here today bringing your spirits and your energy to Seattle live with one or two maybe hear some more music yeah [Music] [Music] [Music] next song we play we are called this oncogene tiger and song about the hunting men who love with this place we restart our biggest Siberian river called NSI ho means mother River it's also very start our nationality called toreano people o21 people very start our languages also is talk about this sacred place for two and people talk about the forest sound from Torah from Siberia you do Yenta [Music] [Music] ah [Music] Oh Oh [Music] Oh Oh Oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] last song real cold I shoulda cure it doesn't means it's like horse or the good words for the kind of wake up all go just go and talk about it if you see it with girlfriend you doesn't take time you just doesn't knows when this Sun is coming in seven stars is goal it's how you drive so fast by up and to man up and out and buy your horse you still shoot the key [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] you've been
