hey everybody i'm derek welcome back to my shop today i've got a really neat video i'm comparing the milwaukee cordless ratchet to the husky cordless ratchet this is my second milwaukee the first one i had broke and it was entirely my fault it was not a deficiency in the tool whatsoever um i bought this one uh just simply because i wanted to check it out see what i thought and uh just compared to the milwaukee so first i just want to compare these two uh we'll start off with the price right now and for the last few black fridays or christmas time uh home depot deals i've seen the husky goes on sale for 59 that's how much i picked this up for and then i bought this one with a charger a battery and a case all for 120 i did buy my first one for 120 bucks for just the tool so i got a pretty good deal on it this uh the second one i bought so basically double the price for the milwaukee as you'd expect the milwaukee is probably going to be more for a professional and the husky is probably going to be more for a diyer both of these tools are 12 volts and as you can tell they're just about the same size it looks like the husky might be just a little bit shorter with the battery in the milwaukee they're both operated by these paddle switches and have locks [Music] the heads are roughly the same size the milwaukee does appear to be a little bit thinner than the husky uh i have to say with the switch here the whole reason why i broke the other milwaukee was because i took this apart to clean it off because the switch was getting really difficult to turn i think that the husky might be just slightly a little bit better because if you especially if you have gloved hands or anything like that the milwaukee is really hard to turn the switch is a little bit better on the husky i just have to say from my limited experience with the husky and my i guess fairly vast experience with the milwaukee both of them have a rubber over molding here on the handle where you would grip it when you're actually using the tool both tools feature a battery indicator light that comes on when you use it milwaukee's last a little longer well not much longer but they do both have lights and just judging off of this i would have to say that the milwaukee's is definitely brighter so one place that the husky doesn't even come close to the milwaukee in my mind is that the husky does not have a replaceable battery if i was taking off tons of nuts and bolts with this i could just keep swapping out the batteries and charging them keeping them charged and keep on using this thing this tool is essentially useless once your batteries die and you have to get it recharged with that being said i don't know how long the battery is supposed to last on this thing but i would imagine that based on my experience with the milwaukee that it's plenty long enough and you can probably get most of the job done on a single charge and then go recharge it do some other things or work on another job or just wait uh overnight because it'll probably last you a better part of a day in my experience with the milwaukee assuming that the husky is roughly the same just based on how they feel i do have a scale but i'm not going to go get it because i don't think the actual weight actually matters but the husky is definitely a little bit heavier here where it looks like the electric motor is on this ratchet is metal has a metal casing and this is plastic on the milwaukee so that's actually kind of nice it seems maybe a little bit more robust but uh i know from experience that the milwaukee being plastic using this like as an actual ratchet not pulling the switch but using it to twist off a nut to work to the point where you can turn it on to pull it off the rest of the way if it's torqued too tight for the ratchet to loosen the bolt itself the plastic is sufficient and it's doesn't really have a whole lot of flex it does flex a little bit but it's fine i put quite a bit of pressure i'd guess somewhere around the 70 80 foot pound range before trying to twist off a bolt so that i can run it off with the electric function on the ratchet the husky does just have a cord that plugs into the end of this that goes straight into the wall where as you're probably aware the battery comes out of the tool on the milwaukee and it plugs into a charger i think one thing that's worth noting is that i did get this for the 120 on a special buy uh you could right now buy two of these huskies and always keep one charged while you're using the other one and then swap them out i don't know if it's worth keeping two two tools around one of the obvious advantages that the milwaukee has is that you can get more cordless tools for the milwaukee lineup from the m12 lineup to use with these batteries i want to get a die grinder and that sander polisher to work on headlights cleaning them up doing my metal working just different things like that that i could use those tools for where you're limited to just the electric ratchet with the husky which isn't a big deal especially if you're just kind of a diy person like i am so besides the ratchets themselves these tools come with cases for both of them this is just like a plastic blow mold case comes with some instructions and the charger and then obviously the ratchet and that is pretty much it i thought that these came with little socket sets but apparently i was mistaken and this does come with a two year limited warranty where i'm pretty sure that pretty much every milwaukee tool across the board comes with a five-year warranty some of them may be a little bit different this husky like i said is two years so you are getting a better warranty with the milwaukee everything that's here is not what it comes with it just comes with the charger this case and one battery i have an extra battery and an extra charger from the former tools that i had and this nice case i'd probably prefer the fabric case over the blow mold case but honestly it's almost irrelevant to which one i would buy all right so the milwaukee advertises 35 foot pounds of nut busting torque its ability to uh break a nut or a bolt loose i set the torque wrench here at 35 foot-pounds i'm going to try the husky first to see if it can't break it loose we'll see if the milwaukee can even do it i have my doubts all right neither electric ratchet could do it so we're going to loosen this down to 35 foot pounds not 35 30 foot pounds the husky was able to do it both the milwaukee and the husky world uh we're able to do 30 foot pounds you know what actually i'm gonna go to 35 and give it another shot still no on the husky so the milwaukee was barely able to do it after a few tries all right now i'm just curious how tightly these will torque down nuts i've got my digital torque meter here and it's going to tell us how much torque it takes to break loose the nut after i tighten it all the way tight with the tool we'll start with the husky looks like 10.1 foot-pounds looks like 10.7 foot-pounds so something i'm not really able to test is the rpms but i will go take a picture of whatever each brand advertises for their rpms and you can decide if that matters to you or not hopefully i hit most things that you're going to be interested in when choosing between two either of these two electric ratcheting wrenches i think they're both fine tools the milwaukee has some advantages over the over the husky i don't really think other than maybe that switch that the husky really has anything over the milwaukee uh what it really comes down to in my opinion is just what you're planning to do with it and how much you're willing to spend if you're a diy-er and you don't really have any intentions of getting into the milwaukee lineup uh go for the husky you know saving 50 percent literally half the cost it really just comes down to what you feel like is worth it uh what you are going to be doing with it and what you think you're going to be asking out of your tool hard to say which one would really last longer i have a feeling you might be running into battery issues with the husky uh if i was a betting man and i was gonna have to bet money either way i'd bet that you could change the batteries out of this thing if they happen to go bad really having the removable battery in the milwaukee is uh really advantageous to me because my shop is really cold and really hot in the summertime cold in the winter time and so it has a lot of temperature fluctuation throughout the day and everything and i can leave the tool out here and just take the battery inside charge it up after i'm done and keep it in a more constant temperature in a more mild temperature than below freezing and above 100 degrees in here in the summertime i like both of these tools i wish i could keep the husky but i just can't really justify keeping two of these things around i did buy it just for this video and because i really wanted to check it out i actually was almost going to pick this up over the milwaukee but when i looked these things up they were 99 and then apparently they dropped 20 bucks sometime between then and when i talked about the reason why i went with the milwaukee again and then every black friday or thanksgiving christmas time uh they dropped this down to 59. i wish they could just keep it at a little more reasonable price like 70 i probably would have picked it up then but i can speak for milwaukee's durability i can't really speak for huskies but just by looking at it i can't see why anybody would have any issues it seems like a pretty well made tool i would not hesitate to pick it up if you were thinking of picking up the husky i really like it if you're not a subscriber already i'd really appreciate it if you went down and click subscribe for me and i hope everybody will go give me a big thumbs up it helps my channel out gets my video out there a little bit more and i would really appreciate it if you do that thanks for watching i hope to see you in my next video
