Hunting for Treasures in the Trash | Scoring FREE Furniture for my flipping business!

Hello friends Katie here from Salvage by K Scott it is a very busy Sunny Saturday morning and my little village has our spring cleaning bulky item trash pickup day scheduled for this coming Monday which means that all of my neighbors are currently hauling all of the big bulky stuff that they don't want anymore including furniture out to the curb I had a ton of success finding lots of pieces to fix up and make over during this same weekend last spring so I've got pretty high hopes I'm going to be able to restock the garage with some fresh Furniture to salvage and save from the landfill I thought it would be fun to bring you along with me this time I'm just gonna grab a couple of things that I think are going to come in handy toss them in the van and we'll hit the road gloves are in here gloves I'm gonna bring my drill and some drill bits just in case I need to take anything apart I grabbed some hand sanitizer and baby wipes too just in case we are digging through the garbage after all the toilette a couch and a Christmas tree a doggy it was a cute little chair television oh that's a cute little bench I'll take that usually steer clear of upholstered stuff but I think we could do something cool with that these lamps are cute oh wow [Music] hello hmm all right it is pretty far gone it's a reproduction anyways it's not authentic but it's neat I think we might have to leave that one there lots of tires that's a good pile [Music] oh boy that is pretty far gone I like those handles though huh the owner was out in his garage there I otherwise probably would have stolen the handles off of that dresser because I feel like I could definitely reuse those not not while he's sitting right there I might go back later a wedding dresses this is a big pile of drawers chair is so sweet but it's wrecked nope that's a cool lamp and Santa oh my goodness oh my gosh oh my gosh foreign Santa [Music] and a blow mold Snowman oh my gosh well those are coming with us and I'm gonna grab this lamp too okay of course I'm a jury I don't think we need a Christmas tree oh my gosh that's heavy oh it's broken that's okay don't break don't break the carrot well that was worth the trip right there these things sell for like 100 bucks at the Vintage markets yeah folding table oh the tree laundry sink [Music] it's a solid wood table top it's all particle board that's been out here for a while hmm oh that's a cute little bird bath bottom of it and a bird feeder huh oh boy I might come back and dig that table top out of the bottom of the pile but I'm gonna leave it there for now [Music] dang it [Music] that's all particle board and I don't know that I can do much to fix that drawer since it's all particle board [Music] something [Music] [Applause] that's cool little Radio Flyer do we need a little Radio Flyer is that a big planter box it is a big planter box so many lonely chairs and door chairs and a rusted out wheelbarrow [Music] what's a little dollhouse oh this is a very Canadian pile hockey net the GT snow racers I spy a coffee table cool it's solid nice nope sweetie hello friend [Music] hello I think I want to take those chairs oh that's pretty badly water damaged time to unload get my hands washed really well have some lunch and refill my water round two [Music] oh boo be a cool chair hmm a table with no legs don't do upholstery all right well we didn't find anything on our second round today but that doesn't mean we won't find more tomorrow we're gonna go inside and watch the baseball game have some dinner and uh yeah we'll head back out and see if anybody drags anything good out tomorrow morning [Music] we obviously didn't have the best luck yesterday lots of mattresses and toilets which is okay not so much Furniture but hopefully today will be a little better for us hmm some outdoor furniture and more toilets oh that's a barn find it's really crackly though I think it might be lead paint okay we'll leave that nice cool and that opens awesome sauce okay what do we have here TV stand the drawers for it are there I think we have two of these hmm I don't know what I would do with those could make like kitchen islands but I don't know maybe I should take one thoughts well yeah you wouldn't be able to use them as they were intended I guess we'll leave them that would have been a cool chair clear acrylic so delicious a printer and some kind of stool foreign Volkswagen and the blonde wig hmm that is an ancient rocking chair it does do something what does it do it's got wheels on it well we'll have to figure that out I think so well there's a corner shelf there too that's neat we got competition what's that there's a coffee table there I think that's a coffee table a coffee table that converts to a table table oh it's like vinyl vinyl [Music] yeah but it's like final hmm I don't know it's neat but I don't think I need it that's a coffee table it's missing a leg where is the missing leg [Music] man oh it's there ridiculous okay made in Vietnam see what the top looks like look at that look at that and some flippers for the kiddos nice do I need a fig Focus they can stay there found the scrap metal Pickers another little truck man foreign too hmm oh two French provincial end tables to match the coffee table from yesterday winner winner oh my gosh that drawer is heavier than it looks we've got a laminate top on them that's okay foreign look at that made in China but it's nice oh that lamp is kind of nice too is this a planer there's a belt sander and a planer oh my gosh it's teak veneer but they're just the drawers I must have knocked my mic pack shoving something into the van and lost the audio so I'm just gonna voice over these next few finds we drove past a lobster trap and either a bunny Hutch or a chicken coop and then we found this this is what I was looking for a mid-century modern style dresser I do these a ton on the channel this one had an incident with a puppy it looks like on the bottom corner but otherwise the rest of this thing is in great shape [Music] foreign [Music] foreign this desk I don't know it might be my top find of the day it's definitely newer it looks like Big Box Furniture Store maybe even Wayfair or Costco and it's surprisingly solid wood it's a little bit wobbly though it looks like some of the welds on the metal base are broken luckily I happen to know a guy with a welder we were almost ready to call it quits when we drove down the main road in town and saw one more solid wood coffee table I've actually done a coffee table and some end tables that match this way back in the very beginning of my furniture flipping business so I'm excited to get my hands on another one that's going to be a fun one to make over and then the last thing I saw this is about six houses down the road from our place it's definitely antique a lot of the structure on the inside has already been repaired and is falling apart again so I kind of stood in the road and hummed and hot on this one for a little bit I didn't end up grabbing it but now I'm kind of regretting it such a great haul not as many big pieces like dressers and China cabinets as I was kind of expecting to see but we still found some really great stuff I've got three completely different styles of coffee tables some end tables a mirror and a lamp that I can clean up two different sewing machine tables this desk is massive and like I said very surprisingly solid wood and this mid-century dresser looks pretty bad but it should actually be an easy fix and flip I really hope you had as
