good morning good afternoon good evening um i am gonna show you all of the secondhand books i have purchased in the month of october or specifically the last like two weeks of october just gonna get it over with only brought a couple just a couple so um i'm sure i'd pop them up here we'll move this with and i'll just show you i'll just show you my problem not a problem something totally healthy totally fine not an issue oh god now hear me out hear me out hear me out i have a reason i have a reason for this madness okay oh do i how many books have we got 46 here lies 46 second-hand books from charity shops now remember please hear me out i was going to film this in my little cozy book corner with my beautiful dark wood bookcase and all of like my gallery wall but it's like pitch black in here and it's the only place without me getting all my studio lights down to a film so here we go in the conservatory why not oh i wonder if you'll hear the rain so worst time to fall into a reading slump was 2020 could've got so much reading done but trust me i am catching up now i have read so many books that are on kindle um i've listened to so many audio books and also when i'm traveling i pick up a lot of those like bookshelves and hostels read them put them back so i don't own most of the books that i have read and i want to change that because i got introduced to booktube and like full on like watching everything booktube has to offer and i want every book i want every book i've ever read i want to own it this pile is books that i have already read that can sit in my collection this is the pile of books i have not read that will stay in my collection and i will read them who am i convincing here so most of the books that i pick up from charity shops are normally three for a pound so you can kind of see how i got here when books are three for a pound like 33 pence each come on now you get a little crazy you do and sometimes you find two books it's like well they're 50 each or three for a pound you have two books and then you just have to find another book and just pull it off because it's technically free that's where this problem has begun so i will try and give you all the prices that i paid um most of them are either 50 pence each uh three for a pound or and the hard baths are normally about a pound each but have a couple more expensive ones so if i can't remember which one they came from if they come from the three for a pound lot um then i'll just say they're 33 pence each but yes okay so we will start over here and i will quickly run through all of the books i purchased that i've already read in my lifetime and to add to my collection i'm getting a collection i don't care what anyone says i want all the books i want all the books and i want them now out of the top okay so i was debating do i get the twilight saga um because i read them all when i was a teenager and you know they were a huge part of my teenage years if i was debating i was like do i pick up the twilight series well obviously i did well i only have three of the books and it only started because i went in uh to a little local charity shop named my mum and i saw this and it is pulp fiction and it is loads of the most iconic scenes from pulp fiction in their script form and it's my favorite movie so that's so cool so i'm gonna pick this up i should always buy one get one free so i went back and i saw this i saw a breaking door i was like fine i will get the collection but i'm trying to find semi-nice versions paperback of them so technically i saw this is free and then i found eclipse which was 50p so i just need one and two i just need new moon and twilight and i also got the novella which was 75 p so one pound well no three 75p and 50p we are getting the twilight collection why not it was so monumental in my teen years um and stuff that and they are really beautiful books so sure i got them all i then picked up michael mcintyre's life and laughing it is it was one pound is one of my favorite autobiographies like memoirs ever i've listened to it like four times on audible um on the audiobook i used to always listen to on flight michael mcintyre he's my favorite comedian and he obviously does the narration of his own audiobook and it is amazing pick this up for a pound um i love memoirs i really do i don't find a lot of booktubers though who like the same things i do so this is where i'm trying to you know find my little way through the booktube so anyone like i love memoirs anyway this isn't a what i like in books video this is a manic crazy i can't stop myself please someone stop me all right let's fire through these this is behind closed doors by b.a paris i am pretty sure i've read this i'm 99.9 sure i've read this but i can't be certain i'm pretty sure i have i started listening to the audiobook on script i was like i've read this book if i haven't i'll reread it but i'm 99 sure i have read it um pick this one up this one wasn't 1990 this was 1.99 i think it was yes went to the oxfam bookshop which everyone knows is notoriously expensive um but i try to pick up books i don't usually come across in charity shops hilarious though i did find good night mr tom in a charity shop for half the price yesterday you live and you learn we move on but it's one of my favorite books and one of my favorite films of all time if you want to cry but then be uplifted to like the heavens uh watch goodnight miss tumble read the book and you know if you just want to cry cry cry cry then you can read um a child called it by dave pelzer um i remember reading this when i was really young and it is horrifying i read this when i was really young as well virginia virginia andrews flowers in the attic i actually have three books i want to reread this was i think no this was on 50p was i think this was a three for a pass it's 33p this was definitely sorry this one was definitely 33p as well um i would like to reread this because i read it so young and it's like incest like it's it's a it's a heavy book it's a heavy book and i'd like to reread it now because i read it when i was like nine i should not read that when i was nine talking of three for a pound and books that really influenced my younger life was the hunger games so i got all of the hunger game trilogy um for a pound couldn't pass on that come on now come on and i have read this month the prequel um the ballad a ballad of sunbeds and snakes um and i gave it four stars so yeah oh also do you want me to do a video like um let's let's dip our toes into booktube do you want me to do a video of every book i read like and do it monthly um let me know i'm watching you um i think i got this on kindle and i read it when i was abroad where did i go i remember anyway read that go in the collection 150p this one and i think this was two was it 199. this is 299 from oxfam books again it is the secret garden and um yeah one of my all-time favorite it goes with um goodnight mr tom as one of my favorite books and film comedy i can't wait to sit down and read this and i read this over christmas no it feels like a christmasy read maybe because the film's always on over christmas one of my all-time favorite books picked this up for a pound and scott and i are really listening to this we listen to audiobooks when we go to sleep um this will be my third time listening to on audible and this is going to hurt by adam k oh i didn't bring oh i'm not going back into the lounge i also picked up switzerland before christmas which i've read um and i got that in there as well but yeah this was a pound i had to add this to my collection it feels like everyone the whole world has read this book and it is amazing uh the time traveler's wife i think this was 50p pick this up for 50p loved this book when i was younger and before i go to sleep by sj watson i remember this one of my first books i ever um was on kindle that i got it and i was like obsessed i was like hooked i think this was a pound uh this one is the hundred year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared and it's like a fantastic addition um it's like not been red the spine is not cracked at all and it's not broken and this was a one pound and finally we have tony hawk's a piano in the pyrenees um i had this on audible and i've only listened to half of it and it's not as good as his first book which i'm trying to find in the cherry shops throughout my collection which is round island with a fridge um that is amazing and if you've got audible then definitely download that it is brilliant and i'd love to find that so i need to finish this book off we're just going to put it in the already read pile anyway now sorry i whis through that so quickly that was all the books i've been collecting to get my collection up these are all books that i am yet to read so let us go through these ones i've never had a book with sprayed edges isn't it lovely but it's pretty battered so this is the seven deaths of evelyn hardcastle i did start listening to the audiobook of this um and was really getting into it but then i think i started listening to when i was traveling and then completely forgot stop listening so i'm gonna have to start from the beginning uh what i found on booktube people recommend that you if you have the audio book and you have a copy doing them both at the same time listening to the story like don't do this on audible because it's gonna cost you an entire credit especially when you've purchased the book but it sounds like scribd where you only pay once and you get all access to all their audio books by the way which is amazing and loads of my saved titles are coming out on audiobook on script in november so i'll leave a link for that down below it's really good i think it's like 10.99 a month or something um but yes i going back into that redid my subscription and you get like a 30 day free trial so you can see what they've got on there i think is it if you use my referral friend you get um two months it's not a sponsor or anything but you get like two months instead of one month free trial and i think i get an extra month reading for free i don't know i'll link it down below it's really good app um but yeah with one of these books i'll explain i listened to the story whilst reading it and i was like oh my god like obviously you have to speed up the audio book because you read faster in your head but the narration was awesome so hoping to do with this one as well okay so hold on we'll wait we'll wait for that one i need to pair that with another book this one was really funny that i find because i was listening i think it was to a vlog it might have been a booktube um video and someone mentioned jurassic park was a book i was like it's a book i did not know that um i had no idea oh that'd be so cool to read it's like one of my favorite films it's scott's all-time favorite film i go down to my local charity shops walk in look on the bookshelf and the top book first on the row where i put my eyes i shift you not was jurassic park you know when you have those moments that are too coincidental that are too weird that you literally stop even in public and your mouth is open you're like no come on and it's never been red the spine isn't broken it looks perfect condition and this was a three for a pound book so this was 33p really excited for reading that apparently like the film is epic but the book is even epic now i found these these both were 50p and i picked these up because i like to have a little bit of variety i mean i love me a thriller psychological thriller and things like that but sometimes i don't want to have something too heavy i like a little short light read that's a bit uplifting and so i picked up these as hector and the search for happiness and hector finds time these were 50 pence each i picked this up because i don't know it just sounded fun it's hector's journeys and yeah apparently he's got one more hector and the secrets of love so it's like a little trilogy i think i don't know i picked those up i thought they're really beautiful books and saying like nice and easy to read maybe so i'll let you know how they go thanks now you know if i won the complete opposite of making myself feel happy why not you know just the boy in the striped pajamas this was 33p um because you know i need to cry sometimes um obviously the film is amazing um so yeah if i ever feel like i need to cry for days on end then i'll pick up this book next next is warhorse um it's quite a short book actually i thought it was a lot longer than this but um i wanted to get some shorter books i do tend to like dig in and read really chunky books so we're gonna give warhorse a go 33b this hat talking about wanting really fun uplifting things this is my kind of book i love it there's felix the railway cat come on you're telling me you don't want to know about this cat's life he's wearing a train conductor's hat and there are photos of him as a kitten oh my goodness come on now 33 p for a little slice of happiness to learn about this young man's life i'm there for it i'm there for it this one i'm quite looking forward to reading it is um we are all completely beside ourselves it was shortlisted for the man booker prize in 2014 and um yeah it's got a good little blurb um if you've read any of these by the way do let me know your thoughts no spoilers though please come on now no spoilers no need to spoil anything for anyone um yeah there we go trillion now this i have read this this is my five star read it is my favorite read of the year um so i picked this up 33 p and it was like mint condition um actually no it clearly had been read once but they've really looked after it and i'd say i've looked after it and this is one my first one that i listened to on scribd whilst i was reading it um and i plowed through it i would 10 out of 10 recommend this book it's called the binding and it's so interesting so if you want to do the video on books i've read this month i don't want to go into a review but um the concept that the writing the romance ah oh my god such a good book um yeah let me know if you want that 33p as well for like and that was released last year what's this i've always wanted this book it's called our story um regina roncray and it's about um it's a series of interviews they had in prison i've always wanted this book and i found it and it was 33b one of the three for a pan lot like i said sometimes you pick up two books and those three for a pandrobies and you don't know what else to get it's just a mystery so you just randomly pick anything that catches your eye and what caught my eye as a little free book why mommy drinks i don't know but when i go to the charity shops this book is everywhere it is everywhere there's like loads in the series as well like why mommy gets sloshed um why why daddy doesn't give a and things like those really weird titles and so i don't know i picked it up this one i'm so excited by reading i think this was was this 50p no this might have been a three for a pound as well uh the five people you meet in heaven listen to this sam is amazing on his 83rd birthday eddie a lonely war veteran dies in a tragic accident trying to save a little girl from a falling cart with his final breath he feels two small hands in his and then nothing he awakens in the afterlife where he learns that heaven is not a lush garden of eden but a place where your earthly life is explained to you by five people who were in it these people may have been loved ones or distant strangers yet each of them changed your path forever how cool of a concept does that sound and it is by mitch albon um so yeah i'm really excited by picking this one up and it doesn't seem very long either so um yeah just sounds like i love you know stories with really cool concepts um and talking of cool concepts um i would like to start reading short stories so again i think this became a pixel 2 book needed another one uh the best british short stories of 2014 read one of the stories already didn't like it but i would like to try and get into a short story so what better than a book full of the best of the best i won't talk too much about this luckiest girl alive by jessica knoll and again i had to pick it up because it was three front i don't know if i'll read it anyway onto books i will read um i've picked up rebecca uh which is a classic novel and i didn't know that this is a damn thriller why did no one tell me this i need to look into classics more because i never really touched them i've read little women and i've read things like that but i haven't read most of them if anyone had told me though the rebecca was like this thrilling story um i would have picked it up years ago so i'm very excited but that's what booktube has given me answers guidance uh so yeah i picked that up and it was a pound very excited to start rebecca um i did really enjoy the film so i picked up bird box um because apparently a lot of people have said the book is way better and that was a pound i haven't seen the film gone girl or read the book by jillian gillian flynn gillian flynn julian finn julian gilliam flynn i can't read i don't know how i'm gonna get through these books so i don't think i've ever seen the film and i don't think i've ever read the book but apparently it's a classic in this kind of genre to read so one pound picked it up so one of my favorites of all time because all hail mary streep is a devil where's prada love it um and then i came across this revenge where's prada i didn't know it was private with the book here we go again just like jurassic park um and i picked it up because again like when i go through heavy thriller or just dark kind of books i need to pick up some light a little bit contemporary um so i picked this up for 33p and then the other day found the devil was prada so um they will be my nice little easy contemporary reads to slot between some heavier stuff now i'm currently reading this at the moment it is primal fear and i still can't pronounce it mom this is my mom's recommendation she's recommended me this like my entire life to read um by william d l d dial um and it's a courtroom um book which i've never read before and i'm only that much through but apparently there's a huge twist so i'm going to enjoy that so that's what i'm currently reading i picked that up because my mom was like you're never going to find it in a charity shop because i've never found it in a charity shop so i ordered that off eight books and i think it costs like 1.99 or something like that then i picked up some good horror i'm guessing these are horror these are karen rose um and they are a couple of books we've got count to 10 and we have die for me but i have a feeling one of these is parts of a series i need to double check so not to start that because i did that with a book this month i read the fifth in a series but nowhere in the book on the book on the back in the front pages does it say as part of a series i was fuming but we'll talk about that if you want it later fun story i've never read stephen king i think i started reading carrie when i was like 13 i got to the shower scene i put it down so i couldn't get through it i watched the movies so i picked up the shining i want to try stephen king now as an adult i have never seen the shining i thought maybe possibly i could do a video reacting like blow by blow of the first time i ever read stephen king and let's see if i like it will i dnf it maybe because i do that with a lot of books if i don't like something i don't continue reading it we'll see that was 33 feet as well not bad nobody i picked up this it won the booker prize 2019 and by margaret atwood and it's called the testament sorry and it was one pound and i don't know i just started flicking through it and reading it and it sounded really good and it's about women and all that they have done for the world i believe i don't know but it sounds good i got really into it when i started reading the first few pages and in the chat shopping so i was like well if he's gonna do that to me i might as well pick it up now this might have been a mistake but he kept staring at me for about three weeks and it is bill bryson's a short history of nearly everything it is the kind of book i would pick up and probably jump around in kind of um okay my camera just decided it wanted to stop recording um so yeah bill bryson it was a lot of book for a pound so i picked it up that was that was just an impulse kept looking at me i was like okay fine i buy you hey blake he's coming over the fence he's coming over the fence let me let him in i was just so there crying come on boobs hey love hey so um this one i picked up because everyone seems to talk about this book um and after watching the binding i re after watching after reading the binding is a bit magical so i picked up the night circus and when i put this on my instagram yeah yeah you want excuse me ma'am you were impressed you wanted to read it to you yeah the night circus and as soon as i put this on my instagram everyone wild and i was like oh my god you must read it now um so because you've all said that i'm putting it off thanks for that the last one i kind of purchased because it will look good on my travel shop and i don't buy books because they look good i buy them nine times out of ten i know it's not certain time because i want to read them and i will probably read this and it's michael payman's traveling to work and it's his volume three of his diaries and i thought that was really cool see ya and that was a pound that's a lot of book for a pound so yeah there we go enjoying that blake enjoying the heater so there we go i don't know how i'm going to do a thumbnail for all of these because everyone's thumbnails they're like holding them like that but i'm not even gonna be able to hold them all the joys of choice um so i hope you enjoyed this and if you wanna everything i read in october video then do let me know maybe we'll dip into a little bit of booktube i'm not becoming a booktuber i don't need that kind of pressure on my reading life um but if you want more about books then do let me know and um i will see you in the next video thanks for joining subscribe like all the fun stuff me and blake are gonna chill out now by the heater oh you are so warm already bubsy all right and i'm gonna read some book of course all right bye
