Huge Pipe Organ in Washington DC - 121 Ranks, 64' and Chamades - National City Chr. - Paul Fey

foreign [Applause] [Music] [Music] and today I'm very happy to be here at National City Christian Church in Washington DC and to Showcase this wonderful massive large organ in this wonderful Church there actually is the second one which is playable from this console as well we are going to check that out later but for now we are working on this organ right in front of us so let's check out the principles of the great manual the main organ the helped vac of the organ the principle eight foot sounds like this [Music] and if we work our way up to the octave it sounds like this [Music] two foot [Music] mixture then we got a 16 foot to set some Foundation [Music] all right of course we got some Mighty read stops as well the trumpet then there's a Trumpeter which is supposed to be more German I think and the bomb board and let's just combine all of these [Applause] [Music] foreign here and let's check out the difference of the trumpet which is more French anti trumpet which is much more round and sound then there's clear Raw and the 16 foot bomb board then of course we got a chlorine for foot as well almost sounds like a mixture to me at least and then we've got a trumpet and chamat which is actually located down in the church and that's very nice to have [Applause] [Music] so that is basically filling the whole church and then we've got a festival trumpet which is very present but not as present as this very nice to uh play around with of course we don't have loud stops only on this instrument we've got beautiful flutes as well so we've got a flute harmonic eight foot [Music] which is wonderful we've got a wood melodia [Music] and the four foot spits floated [Music] very nice and about 32 foot [Music] which can also be combined with the flute harmonic for example [Music] very beautiful we also got a string voice which is the evil law [Music] and a mutation stop which is the quit sounding like this by itself you usually combine it with a principle of course very nice and if we combine all of these stuffs we get a quite of a sound I'm combining all of the flu stops for now leaving out the trumpets and we'll add these very soon so that's the Plano so to say [Music] thank you [Music] that's pretty impressive and I didn't even add the shamart if you add that sounds like this [Music] [Music] oh that's nice as a toy stop we've got some Chimes which are actually playable on all the manuals I think sounding like this very nice and very much fun to include in some nice music so that's the great manual let's check out the choir manual which is the first manual we've got a key winter too 16 foot we've got a principal a mantra which is more franchise I think foreign like this [Music] furniture [Music] then we have some string voices dviola then let's say Celeste stop for this one [Music] which is very beautiful I could combine it with the quintadina 2016 foot so I've got this wonderful string planer then there's a concert flutter thank you [Music] which is one four that's a four foot version of it as well and a flout magic two foot which is all actually the same I guess [Music] and if we combine of these you should get a nice flute sound [Music] very nice of course you also got the mutations the nasat [Music] I [Music] is a nice solo stop then you've got a lucky goo which actually is a kind of a four plane or S we would say it in Germany so it brightens up the the principal Plano like this and then we've got a stop which I can't pronounce [Music] which is basically like a bell stop I think so that's the um oh we forgot the Doppler filter which actually seems to be okay it's not shortened so the C is just not working okay perfect so we've got some quite some reads actually we've got a uh control pad [Music] a normal one and the usual claro [Music] and then we got a Howland tuber which is very loud and expressive we've got the usual Festival trumpet and the trumpet in the back of the church we've got the clarinet [Music] foreign [Music] we can actually use the tremulent with the clarinet to see how it sounds [Music] doesn't really sound different to me but it seems to be working so no worries we'll just combine all of these stops and see what we can end up with so the principles and let's add the trumpets as well like this [Music] it's Yuba [Music] you're actually able I will take the high mixture out on the tube as well to use the choir 16 and choir 4 coupler sounding like this as a 16. four foot is like this very massive very nice to use so that's a quiet division then we can check out the year as well which is one of the largest division on this organ we've got a burden 16 foot standard it's a nice foundation for all these stops which are coming there's a Gamba eight foot pressed and forefoot [Music] it's interesting that there actually isn't a principle so you are probably um supposed to use the Gamba and combine it with a flute for example something like this so I've used the flower to Dolce with a sound like this on its own which is very nice it actually got its own Celeste stop it's beautiful as well so we've got a flute forefoot [Music] that's very nice we've got a chimney flute which can be combined with the four foot [Music] and the two foot as well [Music] we've got a sesquial Terra which sounds like this on its own you can use it for flutes [Music] foreign [Music] for example then we've got the principal planer so we've got the Gamba and flauta which I've showed you earlier then we're at a forefoot president [Music] two foot dublet and we've got a pleasure and a symbol so this is some kind of French as well so to say and well we've got some quite some reads as well so we've got the obligatory trumpet on shamart in the back of the church we've got a festival with trumpet as well we've got a valtron 16 foot [Music] we've got a trumpet eight foot and a clear run for food all of these combines are like this foreign [Music] coupler and get quite a massive trumpet solo planum out of it and well that's um the loud stops of the reads then we've got an oboe which is very gentle we've got a valid form [Music] surprised that that's louder than the oboe but okay we've got a wahoo man [Music] so this is the stop if there's one stop to use with the tremulent then it's this one it sounds like this [Music] and well if we combine that with some foundations for example close the swell at a like a 32 foot in a pedal couple that through the pedal and maybe no we'll keep the forefoot for now when we should get a very massive like amazing sound if you're even at the swell 16 [Music] . foreign so much and well if we pull out all of these stops um despite the Celeste stops we should end up with something like this [Music] 12 16. [Applause] 12 4. [Music] so that's very strong and a very nice to play so we've got two divisions left we've got a positive and the solo the positive is on here on the fourth manual and it features a very nice flute like this the deck eight foot [Music] this is also the manual on which I feel at home as a German so let's see German section of the organizer there's a copper fluid to forefoot and the two foot as well very nice we've got a principal eight foot principle four [Music] octave two the shaft I actually have one foot as well sounding like this by itself was the principle like this um well we've got the fluids covered then there is a an Assad of course something like this [Music] and the chats which I was missing on the other manuals actually let's see four foot it sounds like this very nice um and then we've got all the all the nice read stops again we've got the Dual Stan 16 foot [Music] it's very Baroque very nice we've got the Chrome horn for eight foot sorry [Music] it's very nice and sound so I really love these then we've got a festival trumpet which is actually a transmission of the festival's trumpet we've heard earlier but for good measure I'll just play it again 16 foot eight foot and four foot combined with all of them [Music] very strong then we've got the trumpet in the back again then we've got a petite tropet which sounds very French to me trumpet eight foot which is very gentle and a forefoot very nice combined they sound like this very nice um then we've got a zimbushtan on this manual something like this so it's very soft very gentle very nice to use in silent music as well instead of like a fast simulation for example and if you pull out all of these stops we get the usual positive Tutti I leave the festival trumpet away this Will trump it away um just to get the sound better it will overshine any everything anyway so [Music] if we edit it sounds like this [Applause] yeah very loud so the last manual is fifth manual which is the solo and this actually features some amazing stops I will start with the string section of this this string Celeste eight foot there's a string Celeste 16. and the forefoot as well [Music] let's very nice then we've got a double flute [Music] which is actually taken from the choir manual as I can see in this we've got a trumpet from the choir the valetron from the uh as well [Music] we've got the clarinet from the choir [Music] the wash online from positive [Music] very nice we've got the tuba [Music] so it's actually doing what is solo is supposed to do which is pointing out the solar stops we've got the trumpet on shamart as well here I'm shining everything at all the festival trumpets as well very nice and then we've got all the nice tops on here which are the toy stops as we would call them we've got a harp something like this [Music] I've got a Celesta very nice we've got chimes foreign [Music] which is yeah I'm not quite sure if it's supposed to work or not but this is not working for me so far and then we've got some English handbells which are especially designed for this organ I think you can actually see if you activate the hand belt doors which is they stop here that there will be some doors opening in the back section of the organ and these handpails with the doors open sound like this oh very nice you can close the doors which takes a second but then they will be very quiet so that's very beautiful to to use an eye and a quiet piece for example as well and these are unique to this instrument so very special to to hear these so that's the solo a very nice solo as I can say and well let's check out the massive pedal section which actually features many Transmissions from the menus as well but we'll just work our way through I guess and um let's actually start from the bottom and just go up and let's start with the Super 6 input then we've got a contra bus 16 foot [Music] and the principle very nice then there's a vlog 16 foot [Music] and a winter tune which is incredibly soft and nice to add some colors to the pedal we've got a burden 16 foot foam as well one we get to the eight footstops the cadet eight foot Palmer very nice and playful we've got the flute the chimney flute for me as well eight [Music] [Music] then we've got a coral bus forefoot [Music] the garden for food and hey we're floated two foot very fun to play and there's another four foot actually the chimney flute as a four foot version so you see we've got plenty to choose from one we've got a mixture a large one and then we actually arrived let's let's check out the the openwood 32 foot [Music] which is a massive 32 foot the Contra villalon 32 I'm embarrassing until that's 32. there even issue which should be very nice to add some some depth to some uh quiet pieces well speaking of quite the reads of the pedal are not quite and we are listening to them now so the Persona 60 foot is something like that Persona 8 foot [Music] that's a trumpet eight foot [Music] all right from 16 foot the petite trumpet from the positive a bombard from the Great [Music] and the contrary trumpet from the choir then we've got the trumpet from the choir as well and the four foot version of that then we've got the festival trumpet which is very massive we've got a Clarin forefoot got a wash on my forefoot [Music] and we've got some Northern chimes oh c is missing okay these were actually not featured in the manuals before so that's interesting we've got the Trump hat and chamat in the paddle as well [Music] and then to top it all off we've got some 32 foots and xos 64 as well so we've got a contra bassoon 32 foot [Music] the legendary contract [Music] we're just just getting louder the deeper you go and a double office light 64. [Music] so that's all the paddle stops let's try to combine them bit by bit to see if we can do a crescendo [Music] whole search is shaking [Music] foreign [Music] well after hearing the pedal section of the organ which actually features this this crazy 64 foot stop which is very nice to play and very fun as well at shaking the whole church of course we want to hear the Treaty of the organ um to achieve that I will actually use the crescendo and just at the at the couples and the high pressure read stops on top of it and then we should be very happy to hear a very loud organ in a very nice church so I hope you enjoyed this video thank you for watching and I hope to see you next time bye bye [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Applause]
