How Wrangler Jeans Crush Levi’s At Half The Price.

to mislead you with this whole video hello everyone today my name is Michael and we are comparing Wrangler cowboy cut jeans Levi 501s rinsed and the legendary Levi 501 shrink to fits we will be looking at number one the difference between these genes in terms of construction denim quality Indigo dyeing construction I wrote that twice number two a detailed analysis of why Wranglers make your butt not look better and then we'll wrap up this video what is truly the better fit in our Wranglers actually that much better than Levi's we are in the lab today because Taylor is in the process of moving in so we are redecorating don't mind the child size dining table and I just figured some of you would like to see that was this video inspired by the beautiful edgy Albert no are you kidding me my dad has worn Wranglers for years and always told me to review them and then edgy Albert did and I thought I'd better review these but yeah edgy Albert and I were good friends I wrote this huge essay you know putting my heart and soul into this message and he basically said thanks Michael okay starting with denim the Levi 501 have a 12 ounce denim that is right hand twill Wrangler has 14.75 ounce denim broken twill Levi's denim looks like that wrangler's denim looks more like that Wrangler debuted the cowboy Cuts in 1947 far after Levi's already set the tone with the 501s they were like this is the fabric that everybody should be using it is a 12 ounce right hand twill denim this is how we should do the back this is how we should put the patch on this is blah blah blah but Wrangler acted more as an industry disrupter and said hey why are you setting the standard with this stuff when we can use this stuff which we view as better and with that we have two things one of them being broken twill the other one being denim weight right hand twill denim is fantastic it's still obviously being used today by virtually everyone but at the time it had a lot of or a few issues one it was tough to break in very stiff and for the most part the general masses of people don't like that they want their pants to be soft as possible the other thing is basically all pants at the time were unsamprized meaning you had to do what we're going to do later with Levi 501 shrink defense and Shrink them and a result of that with right hand and twill was the way that the fabric was woven the leg would twist nowadays people like me are like wow that's sick look at how messed up my pants got when I put them in the water in the 40s the 50s whatever it may be that wasn't not it was not good and when you want pants that looked correct look straight looked like they were sewn well but broken twill is not going to the right or to the left it is going I guess neither direction is pulling both ways equally so these pants did not experience length twist as much which was huge and also they broke in quicker and they were softer their jeans are 14.75 ounces when Levi's are typically around 12 ounces that makes a big difference you can feel that in the store and if you're working if you're a cowboy or something like that where your pants are ripping all the time you might think wow these ones feel stronger so I'll take those but also at the same time since it's broken twill and it's softer Wrangler can go heavy without people complaining that their jeans are too stiff just wanted to show off how beautifully organized this fridge is by utilizing broken twill Wrangler was essentially able to beef up the weight of their jeans and not have people feel it and they would also avoid leg twist at the same time heavier denim is very cool we can get to ridiculously heavy denim in a few videos where I will be going from the world's lightest weight denim to the world's heaviest weight is also entering the competition we're almost done with construction but besides just using a heavier weight broken twill Wrangler also kept the rivets on the back booty Levi's hid them then did away with them with the invention of the bar attack which is almost as strong as rivets or the same but they also construct their pants with a flat-felled out seam which is stronger than how Levi's does it so these pants stay stronger longer Levi's essentially became the best dress Jean and Wranglers became the best work jeans Wranglers are built better they are tougher but Levi's with their darker Denim and lighter white fabric have a better drape and can be dressed up a little easier and I don't have a lot of vintage Levi's yet but apparently the pockets are oh wait a minute I do have a pair not so long ago a little birdie told me you dreamed of a boot that was as comfortable as a crock boot but looked nothing like it use full grain leather was Blake stitched and still managed to be completely waterproof beckon Simon actually did essentially that they made a traditional boot with an Eva sole so it does feel like you're walking on Crocs and it does probably take a little getting used to if you're used to actual work boots soles it's very cushy it's like you're on a little spring these boots have a steel shank inside of them to support your feet they have a full grain leather outer and a waterproof membrane on the inside so you can take them through very slushy conditions and things like that and stay in Comfort all day I think Eva soles like this are only going to get more popular as time goes on my dad now has Eva soles on his work boot so I'm glad that there is a leather styled one so you can still feel like a classy little boy as you go to work or school or dressier Jean but they also are a dramatically more popular Gene so they have to conform to society a bit more they can't be a very specific Niche fit on this vintage pair of Levi's jeans from the 90s compared to this Recreation Levi's jean from 1955. see how much higher the pockets are that is a dressier look it gives you a tighter butt so if we compare that with modern day Wranglers you can see that Wranglers still have a higher pocket but on Old Levi's it was smaller and closer in height when compared to Modern Levi's this is 90s Levi's modern Wranglers modern Levi's pocket expansion but the height on Wranglers stayed the same through modernity okay welcome to the most technologically advanced episode of The Iron snail in human history so if you look on my iPad screen wow look at that you'll notice that we have Wrangler measurements Levi's and Levi's shrink to fits pre-rinse measurements something to note right away all of the waist sizes are the exact same pretty interesting when you consider the Levi strength defense are going to shrink so when we're looking at fit and we're trying to find the differences obviously we can eliminate everything that is the same so we don't need to look at waste we also don't need to look at rise obviously we do for the shrink to fits those are different but then we get to pocket height pocket height for Wrangler measurements you just skip this part they just trust me that they are higher the thigh of Wranglers is wider the neon Wranglers is wider and same with the leg opening but really what's important to note is here we're just looking add a tighter pair of jeans you could probably size up one in Levi's and get the same fit that you got in Wranglers shrink the fit you'll notice something interesting these are size 30. both of these strength of fits are a size 32 I went up two sizes you notice that the waist does not correlate technically if this was correctly vanity size it would be 34 inches but it's not it's 16.5 which is why you size of two and Levi's because it shrinks down that would make you assume that when these pants shrink down these shrink to fits are obviously going to shrink but they will probably shrink to be smaller than a rinsed pair of Levi's at 30. is this interesting I feel like this is the video that I've actually lost my mind on but I think we're on to something so the main difference is pocket height and why did Levi's lower their pockets over time on their jeans when we know higher Pockets sit on your actual butt and help show it off and the answer is a relaxed lower pocket on jeans may seem like a silly thing to a 28 year old in fantastic shape like edgy Albert because why wouldn't you want to show off your butt but if you are not in good shape or you have a very big butt that you were trying to hide a relaxed backside with lower pocket bags will kind of help smooth that out and you'll see Jean fabric instead of your massive butt now there is like a trillion billion ways to make your body look different in jeans and if you want good examples go to the women's section on any denim store but with men I think most men are like I just want a pair of jeans they're a wide or they are not when women's lines are much more attuned to emphasizing and not emphasizing certain parts of their body the truth is Wranglers will emphasize how your butt looks they will make it look better if that's what you want but if you get a nice fitting pair of jeans for your body in general the pocket bags aren't going to make that big of a difference now we shall dive back into iPad mode and discuss some shrunk Levi 501 shrink to fits the results are you know kind of what I would expect they did get smaller than regular rinsed Levi 501s which I thought was very interesting the rise remained a little higher so that is a little bit more flattering for some people pocket height in general I measured them and re-measured them basically negligible there thighs still a little bit wider than regular knees stayed relatively the same leg opening shrunk down a little bit now if you threw these in the dryer these would definitely from the start be a lot smaller than the samuraized rinsed 501 Levi's which I find very interesting but it's so negligible if you wash them similarly that I doubt you would ever notice and by wearing these jeans frequently I bet they would stretch out to about the same size yeah okay actually never mind the stfs look way better the secret is I didn't really put them in super hot water and then I didn't dry them if I did they would look a lot similar to the on stfs on the right that's why there's that big huge difference so don't toss your stfs in the dryer or rinse them that hot and you can get a really nice fit okay so in summation which Gene do I like better frankly neither never mind it's the 501 strength to fits buy a landslide I like that Levi's drape really well I like that they use a darker denim I like that they have more contrast stitching but I like that Wranglers use a 14.75 ounce denim I don't really care about broken twill that much their construction is better I like the rivets on the back and I like the higher pocket bags but to be honest I would much rather have the look of Levi's besides the pocket bags so if Levi's had higher pocket bags they would win for me I would buy those over the construction but they don't so Wranglers win for me but I wish they were a darker denim with all the things that I mentioned before so you kind of have to pick what you like there thank you very much for watching I
