[Music] how's it going everyone welcome back on today's video we're going to go over everything that we did to this truck to get it ready for our 500-mile off-road adventure basically we're gonna be driving from salt lake all the way down to lake tahoe california it's 500 miles where we're not going to see a single gas station or be making any food stops this trail is called the pony express we're going to be talking about it way more in our adventure video so make sure to stay tuned for that but first let's talk about everything that we did to the truck first upgrade we did was switch from our eibach pro truck lift system to kings 2.5 shocks now i have a lot of things to say about that eibach pro truck list system so make sure to stay tuned because we are going to be doing a two year review on that system there's a lot of things i have to say about that i really can't tell you guys much on this suspension system because we really haven't tested it out this off-road adventure is where we're really going to be able to test it out and see how we like it next let's talk about the rugged cases up on the princeton roof rack there's three things that we really have to deal with storage food and gas so that's where the rugged cases come in from rome adventure so as you guys can see these things are huge they're really tall originally we were gonna go with the pelican cases but they're not that tall and you don't have that much storing space another really cool feature about this storage box is that it has a strut so it opens right up here we basically have a sleeping bag and parts of the cvt tent so the cvt tent has an additional room that's gonna fall right here that's where david is going to be sleeping so that's what we have up here takes up a lot of room imagine having this in the back seat it would totally suck if we come over to the other side we also have here we have david's sleeping bag so since david's gonna be riding passenger it's gonna be easier for him to just get his stuff from this side [Music] since we were talking about storage i want to show you another storage system that we also have so we're going to go ahead open up the dual swing outs here we have the deck system so awesome here as you can see we have two drawers this is where i keep all of the tools in case we break down in the middle of nowhere we have the air system we have a first aid kit it's important to always take rope you never know what you're going to need it for we have a fire extinguisher some flashlights in case we run out of battery something to jump start it and that's just a few of the things that we basically have here this box right here is an add-on to the deck system and they fit perfect so here basically is where i have all my tools now on this deck system you have two ammo cans that are off to the side that's additional storage so there we also have some stuff as well since we're talking about storage right here we have the front runner wolf packs these things are awesome if you want you can stack these one on top of the other and you can put this on the floor to have it around your campfire use it as a chair if you wanted to so i really like these things right now what i'm using these for is basically camping stuff so here we have what we're going to be using to make our coffee in the morning coffee of course there's going to be a lot of cleaning that we're going to have to do so we're taking soap something to clean all the dishes with you guys know the essentials that you need for when you're going camping here we have some plates since it's just going to be david and i we have these two plates and this is my favorite thing of all check this out so this is the front runner utensil set basically comes with everything that you need so this little bag right here all you got to do is make sure that it's in your camping bag and you're good to go then we have some pans and mosquito repellent you have to make sure you have that especially for david he gets eaten by mosquitoes we're gonna survive man we're gonna survive one of the biggest challenges we had with storage was making sure that we leave a lot of space in the back seat for the camera gear so this is where we're basically going to have david's bag and we have to be able to be quick with getting all our camera gear and getting the right shot so that's basically what this here is for we have the goal zero battery we have two of these one of them is on the way so we should be getting it in by tomorrow basically this is what we're going to use to charge all of our gear when we're out in the middle of nowhere so that right there was david's side let's go check out my side so at the same time we need to be able to have a room so not only is this the place this is my bag right here not only is this a place where we get all the camera gear and do all that stuff we're also camping and we're trying to have a great time out here so this at the same time is a room so here i have my hats my hoodie my closet basically yeah that's right that's pretty much it for personal storage has really allowed us to take everything that we need now let's talk about the next important thing which is gas so this truck on average right now it's doing 12 miles to a gallon and we are going to be driving really slow we're going to be driving on a dirt road we don't know what obstacles we're going to have to deal with so 12 miles i think it's 12 miles to the gallon might be a little bit conservative i'd rather be conservative conservative than not so i did the math and for this 500 mile trip we're basically going to need in total around 40 gallons of gas so in order to make that happen we added two jerry cans to the cbi high clearance rear bumper so basically each one of these is five gallons we have two that is ten gallons right there on the other side we mounted two rotor packs we basically stacked them together so one on top of the other and this right here holds uh four gallons so in between those two that is eight gallons in total and then you have to consider the amount of gallons that the truck holds which is 17. now that still doesn't put us in the safe zone for the amount of gas that we're going to want to take on this adventure so i took my motocross racing gas tank which holds five gallons and that puts us in the sweet spot let's hope i'm right about that now it's time to talk about food and water this upgrade that i'm about to show you is my favorite upgrade that we've done up to now so check this out so it's got a railing system but here you would think man it's still kind of uncomfortable to reach up here so check this out this thing comes right down and now you have access to whatever you want so right now we have water we haven't really gone food chopping we're going to be doing that tomorrow what we do have also i do have this uh steak which i cannot wait to eat but one of the best things is now i get to take my ice cream everywhere i go how awesome is that so for food we're basically going to have to sit down tonight we're really gonna prep we're gonna make sure that we have basically five days of breakfast five days of lunch and five days of dinner and that all needs to be able to fit here so the first compartment is basically the normal uh fridge and then this is the freezer and with the app on the phone you can actually choose the temperature of either one of them really really cool you can also see it here in this little screen that it has it's so awesome but like i said this right here is my favorite upgrade now it's time to talk about water so this one's a hard one how much water do you take on a one one week long adventure and that's a question for mr david blodgett he drinks a lot of water how much water do you think we should be taking david i drink about a gallon of water a day so i'm a little annoying but uh i want a gallon of water a day especially because we're gonna be outside in the heat we're gonna be camping we're gonna be doing activities i'm gonna make everyone work out so i would say a gallon of water a day it's a five-day trip five gallons for me five gallons from the tail and then to shower i mean are we really going to shower are we just gonna rough it we're gonna shower and i'm gonna show you guys how we're gonna do that so but first so that's drinking water that we're talking about but what about showering and what about cleaning the dishes and just you're gonna need water no matter what so for that we have the water port right there so this is basically 3.5 gallons of pressurized water that we can use to clean the dishes and do whatever it is that we need to take take showers so basically you mount that all the way to the top of your roof rack now you have a shower i'm going to show you guys that later on down the road but that's still not enough water 3.5 or yeah 3.5 gallons of water is not enough so back here we have a tank of 52 liters of water and a rotor packs of four gallons just in case this right here is the hose to have access to that water system right there in case we need it we cannot risk it with the water situation all right so we talked about the suspension upgrade we talked about gas food storage now communication is important so we need to have good communication between ken hoogland and justin b mcbride and with that we got our ham radio installed so really clean install we basically took apart this entire dash to make sure that all the wires would go through the back and it was a nice clean install so here it is here we're going to be able to have our communication and everybody's going to be able to stay in touch make sure we alert ourselves if anything were to happen we also have these right here so in case david needs to run up in the front he needs to kind of guide me he has to be my spotter he can take this and this will connect directly to this one right here now in order to get that all wired up i don't always want to have the radio on so i connected it to the s-spot here you can see i have the switch for the radio and talking about the s-pod we also installed an arb twin air compressor and that's what it is right here we took advantage that we installed that to connect it directly to the air locker that we already had installed when we did the re-gear last year so if you guys are ever thinking of re-gearing your truck the opportunity to add a front locker is always there do it right away because labor cost you'll be saving a lot on labor cost so let me open up the hood so you guys can see that so what you guys are going to experience right now is the quick lift system check this out opens right up i'll make sure to put a link down below if in case you guys are interested in that that's a really sweet product so here is the arb twin air compressor directly connected to the front locker and then if we need to air up it's as easy as just grabbing the hose all you do is plug it right in and the thing activates so you can literally air up every single tire by using this right here pretty cool that is loud there's a lot of compressed air coming out pretty cool right all right so that's about it for the engine bay now we're going to talk about these headlights right here so these are not out in the market yet we're actually going to be testing them out making sure that they are sealed properly that the light output is nice just make sure how they perform off-roading make sure that they're nice and solid and i basically showed you guys all the essentials that are going to make this trip awesome but one that i told you that i was going to show you was how we're going to shower not the toilet the toilet is pretty simple i mean the toilet you just got to dig a hole you have to squat and you got to do what you got to do so there's a few gadgets that i i really want to show you guys i love them so this right here is what we're going to use to wash the plates wash everything that gets all messy the pants and all that stuff what you do what you do to conserve water is you fill this up with water throw some soap now you're able to basically recycle that water and it just compresses itself really nicely next this right here is basically our shower room so this is actually check this out we'll put it right there here you have the door water port's gonna be up top and then here you have space for the hose to come in and for you to shower with total privacy let me know what you guys think of that shower system or would you just go five days with no showering this next thing i'm not gonna fully set it up you guys are gonna be able to see it on the adventure video but basically these are the legs and let me show you the top this is from cvt this is really cool for camping for light basically so it's solar it's got a solar panel and this right here basically goes up like that those legs hold it down but i want what i want to show you guys is so you have the main button turns on these main ones it's so bright but then you have these little individual ones that just come out and the best thing about them is that they are magnetic so if you need light anywhere they turn on you simply go up put them anywhere and you now have light just when you thought that this thing was cool it also comes with a bluetooth speaker how sweet is that all right guys so basically i've shown you everything that we did to this truck to get it ready for this 500 mile off-road adventure this is basically gonna be a test for me to see if what are some of the things that i need to adjust what are the some of the things that i need to change because one trip that i really want to do is drive this truck all the way down through mexico put it in a ferry go to venezuela and from venezuela drive all the way down to argentina to tierra del fuego my dad did a similar trip where he drove from ecuador to argentina with his friends in a land cruiser and i saw these pictures when i was little and it's always stayed in my head i want to make that happen so this is going to be kind of like a little training course for that and i also hope that this video inspired you guys to get out there you don't really need all this stuff to just go out on a quick adventure slowly you can build yourself up to this but no matter what i hope this inspired you to get out there whether it's on a motorcycle just enjoy what the us has to offer this country is massive every state has an awesome place to go out and explore if you guys can do it on the weekends why not go check it out so you guys like this video if you got inspired in any way make sure to hit that like button you want to share with your girlfriend motivate her to go out with you make sure to share it with her you guys haven't already subscribed make sure to do so and i'll see you guys out in the pony express [Music] um [Music]
