foreign [Music] [Applause] what's going on guys Roger here at qvo tactical as you see we are not in studio we're actually out here on the Range I want to do something kind of different for you guys this week I wanted to put together a video about one of the questions you guys asked me about the most and it's how do I zero my handgun red dots so we're out here on the Range I have all the equipment needed I got the target I'm gonna go down here and talk about in a second and some some tips that I want to go over for you guys with how I zero my handgun Red Dot Optics first thing I'll say guys there's 100 ways to do one task so this is not to say I'll be all if you guys have an efficient method that you like definitely stick to it but I did get a lot of questions about how I do it so I'm going to share that with you guys here today going over the stuff we have so we have the gun and optic in question is going to be the new staccato CS with the new holosun 507 comp I'm actually out here shooting this review now and this is the portion where I would zero this gun so I figured let's take a minute to film this video for you guys in addition to that we are going to be running uh I'm actually going to zero with 100 grain competition ammo from Ultra ammunition because it is the same ballistics as the carry ammo that I have which is their blue line 90 grain plus P more on that in just a second we got mags have a tool to do the adjustments on our windage and elevation on the optic itself and then we have our Rangefinder I just use this to make sure I'm 10 yards out you guys can use a tape measure as well whatever works to get you the zero distance that you want I zero my handgun Red Dot Optics at 10 yards and I will break down how that works with if you're running an MOA or Mil Dot and the distance that you need and the formula that you're going to need to figure out which or sorry to figure out how much adjustment each click on your optic whether it be elevation or windage is going to give you in terms of the distance on your target so with that being said let's go over to the Target talk about that for a second and then we'll come back here and shoot our first group all right guys up here at Target now first off this target is a champion range and Target Redfield Precision sight and Target this Target's been on the market for probably like a couple decades guys you can find them anywhere online in addition to that though I pick them up locally here at Ventura Munitions our buddy Mikey stocks he's in stores here locally in Las Vegas so if you're local pick one up from him the reason I like this target it has one inch squares the whole thing is a grid and why I like the one inch squares is because it makes this super easy to figure out your zero with math I'm Asian I like math so breaking it down you have to figure out the formula based on the distance you're at we're zeroing at 10 yards so we divide 100 or sorry we divide 10 by 100 because this optic is 1.5 MOA adjustment so what that means is that every click is 1.5 minute of angle adjustment at 100 yards so since we're zeroing at 10 we divide 10 by 100 that gives us 0.1 so 0.1 converted to an inch is going to be I believe three thirty seconds and then we're at 1.5 so we actually need 0.15 which makes it 5 30 seconds of an inch so that means that every single adjustment on winter elevation for my optic is 5 30 seconds of an inch so five thirty seconds of an inch if you have five clicks that's almost a full inch it's like 5.33333 so five to six clicks on your windager elevation is equal to one inch at 10 yards if you guys are a little confused on that Google was my friend with all of this it does get kind of confusing if you're zeroing at 10 25 15 but whatever it is you can use that formula just take the distance divide it by 100 look at the increments because some Optics like your Scopes your your lpvos those are going to be in Mill so the most of the ones I use are in Mill and 0.1 mil is equal to one click so that means 10 clicks is equal to one full inch at a certain distance so without continuing confusing you guys anymore we'll head back over to the table and shoot our first grouping but just know that for this scenario what we're zeroing this 507 comp from hollow sun it's going to be pretty much five to six clicks it's going to equal one full inch so if I'm left one inch I will adjust the optic to the right five to six clicks to get myself Center so if you have questions leave them down below in the comments I'm definitely be sure to get to those but without further Ado let's shoot our first group all right guys so we have our table and bench set up I like to get to a natural position like if I was standing and shooting I don't want to be hunched down a lot of times you guys will see me zero in our review videos and I'm just getting a quick zero so I'm kind of hunched over not really ideal if you're trying to get that perfect zero so I get level uh the thing that we're using here this is the compact benchrest from ctk precisions you guys ask out this thing all the time I got mine on Amazon we do have a website called qvoreviews.com which kind of breaks down all of our videos into article format with links to everything that we use so you can definitely check that out there'll be a link Down Below in the description but again it is the ctk Precision compact bench rest it's got a vice V CL V holding position thing up here for your Barrel whether it be a handgun or a rifle and then back here it's got support for the grip or your magazine if you're shooting a rifle everything's adjustable so you can loosen it up get it to the setting that you need and then you can zero like I did this earlier without the mag so now I gotta loosen it here bring it up and get lined up and I'll bring in some b-roll here and you guys will see what I'm talking about when I'm getting the zero going I want to have it on the lowest setting possible with the optic in regards to brightness the reason being I want that dot as small as possible when I'm zeroing that way I can get the most accurate grouping so get it to where you can barely just see it that way it's the smallest it can be as you guys can see here in the b-roll and once you have that you're going to shoot your first group I like to shoot three to four rounds that way I can at least find out if I have a flyer if I mess up and just make sure we can get a group so here we go all right guys we now have a camera set up downrange so you guys can see the grouping as it happens so like I said we'll shoot our first four rounds here here we go unload go check the hits mark them out with the Sharpie all right guys up here at the Target we got a nice grouping here so we got three rounds actually touching here which is awesome and then this fourth little guy which is less than a quarter of an inch away but looking from Center it looks like we are one inch to the right and about one and a half inches high so we are one inch right and 1.5 uh up so it means we need to come down and left so again we'll go back to the formula right so 1.5 inches we're doing about five clicks uh per inch because it is 5 30 seconds of an inch for every adjustment on the actual optic so with that being said I'll probably do like seven to eight clicks to come down to uh Center Line here and then we were five clicks uh right so we need to come five clicks back left and I'll go over there and show it on the optic and better explain it again on what I mean with this formula all right guys so when you get your optic the manual is going to tell you how much MOA or Mill each adjustment click is so like I said I need to come down about eight uh adjustments so each adjustment here is five thirty seconds of an inch so one two three and you guys can hear that audible click [Music] seven eight so eight clicks there and I need to come back left five so you'll see that counter clockwise is right uh clockwise is going to be left so we'll go one two three four five now we'll shoot our second grouping and see if we're zeroed or how much further we need to make some micro adjustments to get it perfect all right guys we're gonna shoot our second group now again using the 100 grain from Ultimate ammunition here we go four rounds we'll go check the grouping and see where we need to go all right guys as you can see here we are pretty dang close um not the best grouping it's right around it so the trouble here now is do we go with the two up here or the two here right so for you guys at home it's kind of like you'll know when you fire like oh I threw that round um these actually all felt pretty good to me so I might shoot a second grouping just to make sure and confirm but I'll do that with the actual carry ammo and I'll fine adjust from there all right guys like I said before I'm carrying this ultimate ammunition 90 grain plus P Blue Line our buddies over at ultimate ammunition supplies this stuff it's awesome you guys know I've been using it for like the last year so we are going to confirm our zero with this ammunition now because in my opinion you want to make sure that it is the same grouping or the same zero for the carry ammo as your training ammo if not our buddy Bill blowers he actually runs two different witness marks in his Optics one because he'll shoot like 124s in training but then carry 147s so just just confirm with the actual ammo that you carry that it is the same zero so let's shoot this grouping four rounds and we'll see how we do all right here we go foreign slide lock there and let's go check all right guys so it's a perfect example of why I want to confirm with the actual carry ammo that I used you guys will notice here it is literally probably a quarter inch right so 0.25 right and probably 0.25 High so I will make micro adjustments off of this group we have a nice group in here so I'll make adjustments off of there coming down and left a little bit more and then what I like about this target again it's got four other diamonds that you can use for additional zeroing so you're not just wasting one target here in the large Diamond so I'll make the adjustments here and then maybe I'll shoot one of these diamonds to just get it dialed in with those micro adjustments so like I said guys making those fine adjustments I'm going to come down three more and I'm going to come left two more and that should put me where I need to be all right guys load it back up I'm going to shoot the bottom left diamond and hopefully we are good and dialed in here cool let's go take a look all right guys so as you look at this grouping here looks like I got two to three rounds in this one hole here and then one here I'll have to look back at the up close camera it might be two and two but we're super close to where I need to be I might make one or two more adjustments might go up to you and one left um but a perfect example of why I like to shoot with the cheaper uh training ammo to get you know a close zero and then do my fine adjustments with the actual carry Duty great ammo that I'm using uh for my EDC gun something I recommend that you all do again several ways to do it guys if you have a better way that works for you stick to it but from the questions I was getting from everybody I wanted to make this video I know I got questions too about hey I want to just zero while standing if you can do that great man I know a lot of guys that subscribe to that method where they just want to zero based off how they naturally stand and shoot for me I like to take out all of the human element to me the biggest fail point with zeroing my gun is going to be me uh the human error so I like to use the bench rest I like to use an actual bench a chair and take all of that out so that way the only thing that I'm doing is just pressing that trigger to the rear and these are the results that I'm getting so if you guys have comments or questions about how I'm doing this or constructive criticism I'm sure you guys will leave it down below in the comments section but I appreciate you guys check out this video again I hope it helps all of you guys that have been asking about the bench rest about how I zero my handgun Red Dot Optics and the distance that i0 at for my handguns guys I zero them at 10 yards and then for my pccs like my nobleski Space Invaders and stuff I do those since I have a longer Barrel or typically they have a longer Barrel I do those at 25 yards so any other questions let me know Down Below in the comments appreciate you guys check out the video give us a like subscribe to the channel if you're watching this on YouTube make sure to check us out on patreon and Rumble as well as always guys appreciate checking out the video I'll see in the next one all right I already know some of you guys in the comments here like oh man he didn't make the micro adjustments and get the perfect zero so if you watch to the end we're doing it right now made my micro adjustments I went uh I think I went two up and one left or one up and two left not sure exactly but we're about to see hopefully we can get dead center uh bottom right Diamond here we go foreign guys after those micro adjustments you can see here looks like I got one flyer but I believe I got three or at least two rounds right there and we are hitting that Center Diamond uh I mean I could come back one but to me that is dead star in the diamond we are good this thing is zeroed and ready for carry hey oh all right guys and the last thing I wanted to go over once you get your optic property zeroed make sure to throw on some witness marks with a oil pen that's what I have here and all this does guys is it lets you know that way if you go back to the range and you see that it is not a perfect straight line on the dial anymore that you know your zero has changed and you just put a straight line through it with a oil pen like I did here so when I go back to the range if this is turn it all and I have the line say up here and it's not no longer lining up over here I know that my adjustments have been modified and I need to fix that so last point I want to give you thanks again for checking out the video
