[Music] well hey everybody I've had quite a few people comment and ask about wheelies so I figured I would I guess share my process and experience with we at least today so before we get started with wheelies I figured we talked about kind of the safety risks with doing wheelies if you're going fast and you wheelie over backwards it's not gonna end very well especially for you and for the machine so it's definitely important to take your time if you're new to this and to work your way up to higher speeds I definitely recommend riding on the grass if possible otherwise the next best thing would probably be dirt I'm on some gravel today but the gravel surface is a little inconsistent so it's not the best thing to practice on and always make sure your tire pressures even so that you wheelie in a straight line otherwise you'll be battling that the whole time so I never tried to explain wheelies before and I was just thinking about how I go about it and I figured there's a few main things you have to focus on when you're doing a wheelie and that would be your body positioning your throttle work your timing and then once you get the wheelie up in the air would definitely be your balance and maintaining that wheelie so if you're a complete beginner to wheelies I'd say the best body positioning to start practicing would probably be to put your left foot in your grab bar and to have your right foot down by your rear brake so that in case anything goes wrong you can grab that rear brake immediately the other main benefit to this would be able to pull more on the on the machine and to be able to get more leverage it's actually a lot easier to get the front end of pop when you have your body weight on the seat like this I mean you can really squat the Machine down I do notice a lot of people taking this body position in stance when they're doing really slow speed wheelies like first second gear wheelies a lot of those guys stunting and parking lots they're definitely kind of embracing that one foot in the grab bar method I'm never good at slow speed wheelies I haven't done doing many with this machine I used to doing years ago but I do see that foot in the grab bar technique a lot more in the slower paced wheelies so for higher speed wheelies I tend to have both my feet on the pegs I feel like I have more control and I mean I've been doing wheelies a really long time so I it definitely comes down to rider preference I mean you can do a high speed wheelie with your foot in the grab bar that to me seems kind of scary but it's all rider preference at the end of the day as I normally stand when I really a lot easier for me to see over the front of the machine if you're doing any wheelies and you're sitting down you normally can't see very well unless you're you know peak around the edge of the quad it's just there's pros and cons to both when I'm standing I feel like I have more difficulty accessing the rear brake when the quad is fairly vertical and you're kind of up and you're hugging a gas tank it's pretty hard to get your foot you know back to grab that rear brake if it gets kind of dicey and you go too far that's probably the main con I can think of when you're up over the bars you know standing high and doing a wheelie so that is one really nice thing about if you are sitting down it is a lot easier to access your rear brake and you also have the option to run it through the gears if you can run it through the gears while standing up and doing a wheelie then you are awesome at wheelies that's all I got to say so now that you have an idea on body positioning your other steps would be adding your timing and your throttle into the motion of pulling up for a wheelie at lower speeds you're not gonna need as much rider influence on the machine in order to get it to pop up for a wheelie normally and those lower speeds especially with a higher displacement ATV like this one I'd really don't have to lean at all in order to get to come up in those lower gears so definitely use the motor to your advantage here you don't have to like put a ton of body weight and again it needs to pop up in the lower speeds but if you're going in 40 to 50 miles an hour and you want to get this to come up at a higher speed unless you have a ton of horsepower it's gonna take you know one nice fluid motion all at once to get it to come up and sometimes your time you will be off and it will come up and you'll look kind of pathetic trying if you're with your friends but that's just the name of the game and that's just how it is sometimes it the timing is super important if you're looking to do wheelies at higher speeds I'd say overall the hardest part is just getting the wheelie up once you get the wheelie up it's on you to manage your throttle and your balance point and to ride it as long as you can one quick tip I could think of to was when I used to have my scrambler I had a hard time getting out to wheelie so I remember I would strategically find you know bumps that were just right just to help get the front end up sometimes just a little bump or a little mountain can be a really great way just to practice just to get that up a little bit I mean start small work your way big those little bumps can come in handy plus they're fun to hit once you get experience with them and then you can we leave them comfortably let's break down a couple clips to see everything step by step I come into the video with my weight slightly forward immediately after this I apply full throttle followed by me putting my weight back and pulling up at the same time at this point I'm going to be shifting my weight forward and tapering off the throttle once you're at the balance point you want to be smooth and steady with your throttle in order to maintain the wheelie as long as possible here's an example of keeping the front and a much safer height if I keep my weight all the way back I don't have to pull the front as high in order to maintain the balance point this would be a good technique to use if you're new to higher speed wheelie since you can keep the front slightly lower and run less risk of going over backwards fourth gear here give it a lot of gas and pull hard yeah so once you get it really up just on you to manage your own I can't ship in the premiere just too much it's too hard for me to get the angle with my foot to upshift all standing so those are pretty good wheelie for the gravel here so I hope this was helpful to riders that are new to wheelies just like anything practice makes perfect so the more you practice the better you're gonna get at it don't expect to just go out and be a hero overnight it's gonna take some time so have fun with it you know do it do it with your friends encourage each other see who can wheelie the furthest you know they they're they're a lot of fun you know I mean there's a reason why you see people doing them and they're they're fun to watch too but just remember that you can't get hurt pretty bad doing them so hope you guys enjoyed the video today and happy riding I hope it's warm and the snows gone or melting where you're at and we can all go tear it up soon so have a good one we'll catch you guys later [Music] you
