This is a Nissan Lucino Car Door Panel I will try to duplicate OEM with a burgundy stretchy vinyl. The panel was made out one piece in some kind of plastic. Several screws fasten the cargo pocket piece to main panel. This panel was thoroughly wrapped with a kind of thick vinyl. Its edges unglued and are loosen now. This rounded rib houses the edge of a short piece of fabric on top. The glass window rubber strip is fastened to the back and I should remove it. The fabric edge all around was Glued/pushed inside the groove. For a better adherence of the glue it is advisable to sand off the shiny surface. Some thinner to clean it out. Watch carefully how the V shape cut were done to alleviate the folding of thick vinyl. Similar cuts were done on this other corner. A thin tongue in the center and a 180° transversal cut. A heat gun activates a heat activated glue I applied beforehand. For the 'glueing process' I am going to use a 'polyurethane glue'. Let's not forget the goggles and respirator mask! A hard bristle brush is useful for the glue application. A spatula is useful to paste glue over the vinyl. This is an automotive one side stretchy vinyl. The glue should be applied on both surfaces plastic panel and reverse side of vinyl. After 10 minutes approx. it is dry. It does not stick. It allow us to place and align the vinyl piece on top. Long arm pressure pliers are useful to keep in place the vinyl material. I am going to start molding the upper armrest central lump. I can manipulate and pull the opposite side looking for the best position to give the desired shape. A plastic clamp is useful to keep it in place. After pulling the vinyl on top part the lower portions lay flat over forming the desired shape! I am going to apply some heat on the round side. Not on top yet! The glue is activated and sticks. The weights only help to hold the vinyl over. More heat on the same side. I am now handling and pulling the loose vinyl to the other side to give shape to the other rounded bulky side. After some pullings of vinyl the bulky armrest portion is shaped! The heat gun activates the glue and some pressure should be done over. I am pulling the vinyl taking advantage of its stretchy side. The 'sticking process' should be done in parts little by little. The heat can also be applied on the reverse side of vinyl and plastic panel. The scrap of leather helps to not directly rub over the vinyl. Some swollen parts I have missed will be flattened and disappear after heat application. This piece of cardstock paper would add firmness to vinyl area where the speaker is. I am going to make 3/32" holes in each intersection. As there is a paper under the holes these would not distort. I am going to use a 'yellow glue' to stick the vinyl piece. White gasoline is useful to clean off the waxed pencil marks. This is the 5 mm thick foam for the central piece on door panel. I am using a soft adhesive sprayer to stick the vinyl piece to backing foam. I should be very careful of not overpassing the 1 cm allowance line. The seam allowance should be free to be pushed into the crevice. I am going to use a polyester 138 thread size for the top view. A thinner 92 thread for the bobbin. A 140=22 needle size for this thread size. I am going to use yellow glue to stick the sewn part to door panel black portion. The glue should be applied on both surfaces, plastic panel and reverse side of foamed piece. After 10 to 20 minutes it is dry I can glue it down following the allowance line. A plastic remover is useful to push the allowance edge into the crevice. To avoid swollen areas, the lower parts should be placed and glued down without forcing them. A similar process could be done with leather material! Of course, taking advantage of stretchy side of leather and other hand crafting procedures.
