welcome back to episode 2 of detailing like a pro interior series the first one we removed other clutter the second part or the next part into the series is actually vacuuming the interior and it's crazy because once you vacuum the interior your car is gonna look without doing anything else about 10 times better it's crazy just by removing the clutter and vacuuming it already looks a lot better now in this one all you need here is a vacuum that's all we're really looking for do not get stuck up on the vacuum that you're using it really does not matter because i've used four different types of vacuums and each one gets the job done each one varying in strength power capacity wet and dry not wet and dry so don't get too caught up on what you're using you just need to vacuum the interior so let's go ahead and get into it so it really doesn't matter what side you start on but of course whatever part whatever whether it's front or back you want to push the seat border back so here because we're going to start with the front we want to push the seat back to give us the most access to this front section here and to the seats unfortunately when they don't wear floor mats it's so much more difficult because their feet are literally smashing down the dirt and debris into the carpeting and this carpeting here isn't really meant to take on this much heavy debris it's very short in that it gets it's going to get squished down because they're always stepping on here if they had a floor mat literally any type of floor mat whether it's fabric or if it's plastic and even if it was like a super cheap plastic one this uh having any type of floor mat would be a hundred times easier and better than letting the debris and water and everything soak up and dry here because now it's gonna be a lot more difficult to get out and as well as the cleaning process it won't be as good as if they had a car a format here first i'm going to be using my festool dust extractor but you can use whatever you have don't worry about the tool depending on the machine that you're using you may need to do slower strokes you may think you may need to go back and forth a lot more just because yours might not be as strong and the suction that might not be as strong so you will have to go if you're a few more passes to get everything out when you're working along the plastic pieces here make sure that you're not um hitting the uh the attachment onto the plastic panel because you can potentially scratch them i don't mean like leave a little mark like you can scratch some material depending how sensitive it is so make sure you're not just gouging the side of it you want to be very cautious and just be touching the actual carpeting that you're vacuuming up so here's currently where we add it is looking much better than what we started off with there's no questioning that even the seat is looking a lot better let me just start nice there you go now the seats are even looking a lot better not clean at all but it is looking better now i know i said you only needed a vacuum but if you have this on hand if you have a small brush like this this would help because now what we can do is around these sections right here we don't want to always like i said we don't want to just even i'm doing it right now but i'm doing very gently we don't want to scrape the attachment the the crevice tool across the plastic and potentially scratching it so to dislodge the debris here we can use a small bristle brush use it use your um use your an old toothbrush and then use it again just kidding and just get get all the debris out of those tight spots so i know you can't really see the side but just this this little tight edge right here between this plastic panel and the carpeting same thing you just want to work this out because there's still going to be a lot of trapped stuff there but i can't get to it because i can't get my nozzle my my crevice tool all the way in there that's what she said so we're going to work around these tight areas to dislodge any other debris and you want to do this for all the main areas you don't need to have to go around the entire vehicle doing this but obviously where it's needed that's what you want that's where you want to do it it's not always going to be the plastic like you can do this here on this tight spot and if you can see all this here we can get this back later like between in between the seams here but if you just want to give it a try you can try um let's see i'm not saying that it's all going to work but if your brush does reach you can just launch some of that right now and you can see like there's some build up right here we can use this brush to dislodge some of that and again we'll come back with this later and realistically you'd be going way faster but since i'm explaining it to you and i'm kind of moving the camera i'm moving kind of slow but in reality this will take like 10 seconds to do this part and then you just want to look around and see where else where else could you use this brush now the second part to this is you see all this dirt here now we can try to dislodge some more with this brush right here or if you have something on hand or if you want to purchase something you could use a bigger brush like this just to dislodge some more debris from here we're not using a cleaner or anything we just want to kind of open up the fibers a bit more get the dirt a little bit more loose and just get anything else out that we can and we'll go for a second pass because there is a lot of debris stuck in here because there's no formats now it's not going to come out perfect especially depending on how long they've been using it without fullness but we can make it look better now the last thing i would say is if you do have this or if you want to make that purchase you can also use something like this this is a cordless drill dewalt with a brush attachment here all the links will be down below and here after you vacuum instead of using any you're still going to need this brush for the tight areas but this brush here we will be able to loosen all the material much faster and much more effectively again if you want you can i shared with you the other ways same thing here again if you want you can open up these seams get any debris out you can possibly even use this brush and just see if we can loosen up and you can see all the you can see this to your left is to the left all this extra dirt coming off again you can use any of these would work of course there's going to be a difference in efficiency but they can all work and if you can see that on the scene you see all those spots here that's that's how much dirt is in there and again if you can take it this far sure if you can't you'll still get great results as we keep on moving along these series so we'll do we'll repeat the same process to the top portion of the seat now we'll just quickly vacuum everything one more time since we've agitated all that extra debris out okay and you literally repeat that process across the entire vehicle now if this is leather seats you would actually want a different attachment for your vacuum or you want to at least tap the seats and don't drag the crevice tool or whatever tool you're using because you could potentially scratch leather so there is a boar's hair attachment if you can find one for your vacuum or like something that has like plastic softer bristles and then the crevice tool itself but again if you do want to use a crevice tool you want to dislodge the debris with a some type of soft brush from the stitches and around and then tap the crevice tool on the leather seats so you don't actually you're not actually dragging along the plastic across the the leather now you can also sand down the tip of the crevice tool to make it softer that way you you again just take that extra step of precaution to not scratch any type of leather and remember we're not going for a hundred percent removal right now we're still just on the second step of the entire interior cleaning and as we move along this detail and the series and more debris is going to fall out just because there's some wet stuff there's some dried on stuff so at the end of the detail we're going to have to vacuum it again so we're going for about 80 percent and this is a soft 80 this isn't like it has to reach 80 it's just we're removing most of what we can see and what we can get but we're gonna vacuum one more time at the end of the detail doing the same steps just with less degree because it's not gonna be as bad so don't get too stuck on i have to get everything okay so you're not always gonna have to use the brushes that dislodge more debris if it doesn't need it for instance this one has the floor mats so i don't have to really go in there and get all the debris out and in the fabric because they're just we have the carpet so if i am going to use the brush i'll remove all the floor mats and put it somewhere else and i'll do that on the outside not in the inside just because they're easily removable so you could just vacuum the floor mat move it to the side and then address that later or you have if you have the room you can do it inside it's really just up to you there's no right or wrong answer but these carpeting in the back side the only part that really needs attention is a section that the format is not covering so right underneath the actual seat that's where we need to address it because there are stains and there is a lot more debris in there that wasn't covered by the floor mats now you also want to check underneath the seats you don't want to just assume that it's all clean you want to stick your head underneath get it light if you need to inspect the rails inspect the tight areas and see if there's any more disc long if there's any more debris that needs to be vacuumed up or dislodged first with a brush and then vacuumed up now for this part this is where you'd really want to use that other brush if you have one that has like softer bristle brushes if not then again same thing with the leather seat is that you're not actually gonna drag this along any other surfaces because you will scratch it like imagine just you know this you're gonna leave a scratch on this plastic part that's more forgiving but why chance it you know so with here if you have it i don't own this one yet um and festival has a specific um one that only fits the festival one so uh you'd actually just tap it you don't want to drag it along like here if you do drag it's not going to do anything same thing here uh here nothing's gonna happen to it but here like you know on this services you will need some scratches and some other plastic you will leave scratches so you just want to tap it around and i'm not too worried about all this dust right here because we'll easily wipe that down later we'll again we're going to vacuum at the end of the detail so here if you want look you could brush it off into the vacuum if you like but again i'm not too worried about it you could come here already and just this this lodge some of the debris so it's easier make sure you pick up this this cover here this boot and get all this just launched i use the wrong brush for that because this is my good one but and then another thing you can do is you can take off your crevice tool well i was not expecting that you could take off your crevice tool and then use this again you're not going to drag it along you're just going to kind of let it you're going to hover over the surfaces and let it um and let it vacuum basically like imagine this is the surface right here in my hand and you can use this and put a little bumper between the vacuum itself and the surface that way you can drag drag it along but you're actually dragging your finger not the hose itself [Music] and make sure as it's working along you are checking for the detailed areas for instance i moved to the trunk side now and i back in the top side i removed the carpet and i opened up this section here and i can't really tell the camera but so you have a bunch of debris on this side let's see if i can catch her here you have a bunch of debris on this side that needs to be vacuumed up so along the vehicle you have to just kind of be able to to move things around and make sure you're getting uh most of what's actually dirty so here i'll remove this rope here set it aside and all this is removable just make sure that you slowly move these things because all this specifically is metal and you can easily scratch the surfaces so move that out of the way this stays there and we'll literally just vacuum the rest of this backside and then once you're done you put everything back into place we'll come back and touch this area like all this along here when we actually once we actually start cleaning it but for now we'll just slowly put this back and again going back to being detailed and open and making sure you're getting all the areas if you open up this here we'll see that there's still a lot more debris that we can vacuum up if we push these sheets these seats forward we're not forward but at least uh kind of have them lynch forward a bit we can see there's a lot more debris inside there that we can actually vacuum up but you just want to make sure that you're opening up all the compartments you're pulling you're pulling apart the seats you're seeing between areas you're looking down and looking up because you will find that there's going to be a lot of debris that you didn't know was there until you start moving things around and so you start looking at things in different angles if you just look everything from above you'll think you're done and then you look to the left and it's easy to spot and remember this is your first time here the customer's gonna see the car left right you know and from all different angles and you know since it's their car they're gonna see it and you know three days later after you return the car they're like hey wait what's underneath the seat well it's not even vacuumed here and then that's not what you want so make sure you're looking in all areas of the vehicle okay and that's gonna wrap up this episode on vacuuming i didn't show you much of the door panel just because there wasn't much to vacuum anyhow you'd follow the same concept with the leather or with the center console that i showed you where you'll just lightly tap where needed or if you have that specific brush with the soft bristles you can just go ahead and vacuum everything up also for the dust panel you can just wipe everything down but that's super easy didn't really need to show that what i'll show you that on the next episode as well as we progress on the series but other than that you just got to give it a thorough vacuuming it doesn't don't worry too much too much about the machine if you can get those other brushes it doesn't have to be the drill brush but just some other brush to help you agitate and loosen up that debris that will help you and like i said we only vacuum we remove the clutter and vacuum and it is looking way better of course is it anywhere near you know what we really want to see no but if you were just to do this and give it back to the customer and maybe just like wipe down all the panels it would look tremendously better it would still be a night and day difference still plenty of work to do but just doing those two things already make a huge difference so than that you're on your way to becoming a pro check off for all the links in the description box down below and i'll see you on the next episode [Music] you
