hi this Mike from Mike unboxing reviews and how to and on today's video we'll be show you how to do a USB bar flashback on the MSI Pro v650 m-p this is a Micro ATX motherboard relatively cost effective inexpensive and perfect if you are picking up a slightly cheaper am5 processor such as this this is the ryzen 5 7500f as it stands at the moment this board only supports this processor with a relatively new bios we have no idea what B is actually on this motherboard unfortunately MSI generally don't tend to put manufacturing dates or anything on the board which can identify if it works or not so I think it's prudent to actually go ahead and do a bar flash so I'm going to show you exactly how that's done right now okay so we're going to do the bar flash on the pro b650 m-p so head over to the MSI website links for this will be in the video description if you're not too sure which bars you need you can head over to the support tab here and if you go to the compatibility tab you can then look for CPUs and see which ones are supported now like I said on this particular instance we're using the ryzen 5 7500f this requires boss version 11 or higher so the original boss version we can find out here if we go to drivers and downloads go to bios and we can see where 11 is I think it's towards the bottom so yeah there's 11 so that's actually not too bad that's back from May of this year the origal releases here so there's a few betas and then this one here which supports it so I want to go a little bit further on so I don't want to get the very latest one because that is also a beta but what I'm going to try is this one here so this is actually a full-fledged bios and that is from August and that should have our security issues configured and also some ddr5 memory compatibility issues sourced out as well so in order to get this going to click on the downlo button and save it to our Windows desktop this is a compressed file so it will need unzipping or extracting in order to do that right click on the file choose extract all and just choose to extract it to the same location to the desktop now we need to actually change some details of the file so there is the boss file this one here as you can see it's got 120 on the end so we need to rename this in order to be able to do a USB bar flashback if for some reason you cannot see the file extension you can go into to view and then show and then you can show file name extensions so if it's not visible you can see it Windows 11 will automatically show file extensions for any files which are unknown so you may not need to do that but anyway we need to rename this file so going to click on it a couple of times so it's highlighted we're going to delete everything there and we need to call it MSI do ROM doesn't matter if it's uppercase or lowercase and you will get a message saying that you want to change the uh file extension it may be unusable yes we do and that is it so now we need to get our USB stick ready so don't forget USB stick has to be fat 32 and ideally 32 GB or less if it's more than 32 GB flash drive you will need to create an additional or a separate fat 32 partition on your drive we have a video on that we'll link that in the video description also so we're going plug in our drive and what do we want to do want to open it see what's actually on it so this actually got a a bar Flash from a previous one we've done so we're going to format the drive just to be on the safe side so find your USB drive obviously this is going to erase all information so do beware going to right click on it choose format going to set it to Fat 32 if it isn't already also allocation size going to set to default and volume label leave that blank that's pretty important it doesn't like having anything in the volume label for some reason when you're happy click on start you'll get a message saying that this is going to erase everything on the dis when you're okay click okay if you don't want to click cck cancel you'll get a message saying the format is complete when it's done so now we have a blank drive there so now we can copy our ROM file from our desktop so right click on that choose copy then go to our USB drive right click and choose paste just your simple copy paste thing and you'll see the file is 32 megabytes or 32,768 Koby that is the right file size so now we're ready to go over to the motherboard and actually flash this onto the system at this point now if you want to you can click on the eject button to remove the drive or just pull it out the choice is yours so now we're ready to flash the BIOS on this board now a lot of people say can I do this with the PC fully built yes you can do but there's just more things to diagnose should it not flash for some reason ideally if your system is fully built probably a good idea either remove the graphics card or easiest thing to do is just remove the RAM sticks that will prevent the system from trying to boot anyway if there's no RAM installed so yeah that is my uh my General consensus on that in terms of what you need to have powered you need to have your 8 Pin EPS which is this one here goes into the top corner so might as well plug that in now and also you need the 24 pin main power which goes into the socket towards the back so let's go ahead and unplug that one in also so now we're going to press and hold the bars flashback button the port that you need to use is this one here at the bottom so where you've got your keyboard and mouse Port use the bottom USB port so you're going to press and hold for about 3 seconds 1 2 3 and you'll see that the LED starts flashing if you do it you press the button and nothing flashes or the light stays on permanently for a few seconds it means that you've got it in the wrong port or it cannot read the drive so this is going through normal settings now the power supply fan is spinning a little bit it's one of those low spinning RPM things so it's basically hardly going the important bit here is the flashing LED which you can see relatively clearly there so it's going to change speed when it's done that light will extinguish alt together and you'll possibly hear your power supply switch off as well so let's carry on let it do its thing and we'll come back when it's finished you will also find whilst it's flashing the CPU and memory LED will be illuminated in the top corner there and there we go the power supply has just clicked off and the motherboard has now rebooted itself and that is it so we've still got some LEDs over in this back corner the CPU and memory because obviously there's no CPU installed but the B flashback light has turned off so we can just turn off the power supply now and that is it we're pretty much done so turn off the power supply and then it's up to you what you want to do whether you want to put your processor on and do like a small test rig just to make sure that it boots up and all that kind of good stuff the choice is entirely down to obviously if you've got this built into a PC already it's just a matter of reassembling what you've taken apart but that is pretty much it so hopefully this video is helpful to you if it is smash that like button if you want to see more content this on a daily basis then hit subscribe and the CH notification if you want to find out if this board actually works or not then there is another video which will be hopefully linked or listed uh talking about this board specifically so if you want to see how that goes do follow along but that's going to wrap this one up I've been Mike this is Mike reviews and high too and hopefully we'll catch you in the very next video thanks for [Music] watching
