hey guys welcome back to the calibrate tools channel and today we're going to talk more about how to use a t-bevel and the multi-use measuring tool so stay tuned and i'll see you guys right after this [Music] hey guys this is a t-bevel and it's pretty simple to use let me show you what i'm talking about let's pretend this is our floor and these are our walls and we want to put new flooring on top of the existing flooring what do we have to consider first we have to consider the corner here does that corner look like a right angle to you because last time i checked most of the flooring that you buy in the store is not at an acute angle right so you got to figure that out so let's pretend this piece of 2x4 here is our flooring and we want to lay it down on the existing flooring but guess what we have a problem because this profile is the right angle because that's how they come we have a gap here how do we fill that gap well that's when the t bevel comes into play so we can take our t-bevel put it on the flooring the new flooring that we have down while it's up against that corner right so we put the t-bevel over the new flooring and move the sides so that they're flush against each wall all right see that then we take our pencil and make a mark on the new flooring all right then we can use the bevel again to finish the mark [Music] okay guys now this is called a multi-angle measuring tool all right i think it's by husky now the difference between this one and the other angle finders or measuring tools that we spoke of earlier is that this has access to multiple angles at the same time okay so these angle finders specifically this one and the one we just talked about the t bevel can only access one angle at a time because it has this vertex here and this vertex here it's only one on each each of these tools with this particular angle finder or measuring tool has four has one here one here one here and one here okay so let's uh do the same thing we did in the last example let's just say we want to lay some flooring whether that's tile laminate flooring or vinyl down here and this is our angle again that we need to uh accommodate so let's just say this is our flooring we got a big piece of tile for example right so we push it up against the angle as you can see this right here this gap is huge how do we deal with that well this right here is great for that okay so let's go ahead and pull our mock flooring out let's take our measuring tool and place it in the angle see that it's so flexible you can just push it up into that angle there you go now after you do that you want to tighten these knobs down you want to make sure they're nice and tight hmm now you want to make sure that there's no slack left on each corner okay you want to make sure that each part is slid up flush against the other part right see that you don't want this part sticking up or you know or this part sticking out as well you want everything to slide flush against the corners okay so once you have the knobs nice and tight you've pretty much locked in this angle all right hey that's a perfect parallelogram who said you weren't going to use geometry or math in life then after you do that you can take your flooring slide it up against the corner as far as it can go and as you can see you have this big gap you need to fill then you can take your measuring tool put it on top of the flooring take your pencil and mark on the inside of the measuring tool just slide it up so you can get this portion and if you want to get this portion here just use that there you go [Music] this tool is so versatile it even allows you to measure around the contours of door jambs in case you want to lay carpet or tile or anything like that all you have to do is take the tool [Music] slide it around the contour okay like that and then tighten the knob you can start with one end and you can come on the other side and do the other take it off and you can transfer this to your carpet or tile and just cut it out and then you fit it right in and you're good okay so let's just say you have an irregular contour or you have multiple angles that you want to hit at one time and they're kind of far apart and if you have the tool in this configuration you can't do it right it's hard to do well no problem what you can do is you can take the uh pieces apart and arrange it to the appropriate shape so let's go ahead and do that okay so now you have a configuration that will be able to measure or accommodate this whole contour here at one time so let's go ahead and do that just tighten your knobs this one doesn't necessarily have to be tightened and this one doesn't have to be flush against the ends here for this particular configuration now that the angle is locked in all you have to do is take this and transfer it to whatever material that you're going to lay down and you'll be fine and this can be done for outside angles and inside angles that's how versatile this tool is okay guys so you learned a little bit about multi-angle measuring tools and t-bevels okay but you can get real creative with these things all right i just showed you some of the things you can do with them also don't forget if you're really into angle finders check out my video on how to use an angle finder and you'll be even more amazed so if you learned something today guys hit that like and subscribe button and i'll see you guys in the next one
