you what's up everybody it's austin caruto here uh out on the road with the oakridge boys today we are in tucson arizona at the beautiful fox theater and i want to take just a few minutes to tell you about my drum dial which honestly is one of my favorite things out here on the road it is my best friend um you know guitar tuning they've always had 440 and a green light to tell them like you're in there no no questions but you know drum tuning has always been this mix of mythical opinions and scientific facts and so you know it's uh it's a taste thing everybody's got their own preference but this allows me to have my exact same tunings every time i play some of my favorite things about it are if i'm playing a festival we got like seven other kits on stage and everybody's hitting or there's a two o'clock band playing i can come in and tune these silently perfectly every time without having to tap tune or you know i will also mention that i have a pretty good ear so if i'm tuning a guitar by ear i can hit it but you know the drum thing it's just a different animal so i'm going to give you my numbers that i use tension wise for this and i'm going to show you a little bit about it on the 12 inch tom so let me go ahead and pull that off the rack for you one of my favorite features of the digital drum dial that i forgot to mention is it is backlit so if the ld is working on lights and it goes completely black on me i can still do my thing um my 12 i always have it at 75 on the top and 77 on the bottom so there's a 75 for you 76 i'm just going to kind of push that out a little bit these are pretty much brand new and still kind of seating so you'll see how much difference just that little push made that was a 76 i'm gonna do the same there kind of stretch it got a half increment there down and then back up 75 75 and a half we can push that out there it is 76 i'm gonna go down and up with that one so four and a half i got die cast hoops so real sensitive on a turn of the key much more so than triple flames 75 and a half and we're down and up on it all right so five in half there's 75 even 75 and a half 75 even so part of the drum that everybody likes to ignore is the bottom head and my humble opinion it is the most important part uh top on the 12 is 75 bottom of 77. so like i said they're all pretty new they're seated but they're still stretching a little bit i got g2 coateds on top from evans and g1 clears on bottom the floors have the ec reso's on the bottom g2 coated on top [Music] another cool thing about it as you can hear you can hear it as you pull it off so that's going to kind of let you know right off the bat if anything's wonky you'll hear it 77 76 and a half boom so all right so we got uh 75 on top 75 75 on top 77 on bottom and uh i'm just gonna have zeke my cameraman go out front i'm gonna show you where these lie and i am i'm gonna give you my tuning intentions not that they're right or wrong that's how i roll yeah all right so we got 10 12 13 16 18 top 75 bottom 77 top 75 bottom 77 my 13 inch drum the top head goes down to 73 and the bottom actually stays up at 77 for some reason why that has a bigger gap i'm not exactly sure but uh 16 is 72 on top 74 on bottom and then the 18 i bring down just a little bit for a little more growl so it is 70 on top 72 on bottom snare drum 82 on top the bottom head uh quite honestly i just table top that and i don't really want my drum dial denning anyways because it's super thin so that's what's up this is how they sound [Music] 72 [Music] so go get you one drumdial.com they got digital and analog and i couldn't recommend either one of them enough so check it out drumdial.com appreciate you
