hello everyone this is gri and I will be taking you to the initial steps of how to apply in gso 2024 so let's start with it in this video I'll be covering the basics of gck along with the login application and eligibility criteria we'll also discuss some other steps or processes in brief so let's start with it so firstly what is G nowadays as a tech you must have heard of gck it is a buzzword all around basically what is g gso stands for Google summer of code it is a program that is organized by Google annually and it engages University students into this program those students apply as gsof contributors in this program basically there are several benefits of applying in this program and one of those benefits is you get a chance to work with Google Yes you heard it right you get a chance to work with Google and not only this but you also get a pretty decent amount of stipend in India the average typ in range is $1500 to do 3,000 these contributors they collaborate with organizations with the help of their mentors each contributor is given a separate mentor to work with so whenever as a contributor you face any issue your Mentor comes to rescue so yeah that is basically it and uh now let's move to the login part either you can visit this site or you can also go to Google and type gck it will take you to the homepage so here you can go and log in yourself yes and now you can visit the site so here you can see the project list this project list is from 2023 because 2024 project list is not yet here so yeah you can basically see the project list here you can see the contributor's name the mentor name and the organization they have applied in also you can visit the project details and the code they have used for the project so yes this is the list of contributors that have applied in G 2023 and in 2024 your name can also be there also you can view the organizations you have to apply in here you can see the fields in which you have to apply for example let's visit the social and communication field here you can see the all the organizations that have applied themselves for social and communication in 2023 so you can visit one of them and you can check out the ideas list that will help you to know basically what project you want to go into so basically this is the idea list now we will further move on to the eligibility criteria the first point of Eligibility criteria will be obviously you have to be older than 18 and you have to be work eligible and by work eligible I mean that you should be allowed to work in that period of time during the program duration as a mentor you cannot apply in gsog you have to be a student or either you can be a beginner to open source so let's come to the application part for now the applications for 2024 are not yet open but yes for organizations the major date is 22nd of January on 22nd of January applications for organizations will be open so organizations can apply themselves in 2024 galk on 22nd of January for contributors the date will be on March 18th so yes the contributors can apply in March for now let's see what you exactly have to do for application part to apply in gof 2024 you must agree to the contributor terms the tncs that apply to you as a contributor you have to agree to it and basically you have to choose a project and then within the time being the exact time allocated to you to submit the project proposal of the project you can submit and you have to submit the project proposal till that time yes so that is basically it for the application thing now let's look at the steps in brief that you should know as a gsog contributor you have to present your ideas to the mentors and mentors will like pick the students for the project as per the category or as per the projects then each and every student and each and every contributor will be paired with a mentor so that you can work under the guidance of a mentor now comes the major stage the coding stage where you have to work on your project you have to work collaborate with your mentor and you to set goals and plan accordingly now is the important part of this video Mark these dates in your calendar to stay updated January 22nd guest organizations this is the major date for you January 22nd your applications will be open and you have to apply to gof 2024 before February 6th because applications will be closed till then March 18th is the major date for gof contributors you can apply till April 2nd stay updated and just before that please have a look to the organizations list as they apply and please look look at the ideas and the mentors and everything so so stay updated now coming to the project part May 1st the accepted projects will be announced and May 27th you can start with your project plan things accordingly August 19th to 26th will be the submission of your project the final project that you are making or are you working on will be submitted between August 19th to August 26th and last but not the least the result part which you will be waiting for that will be September 3rd so this was basically it from my side and this was just a basic of G we just covered the eligibility criteria login and other initial steps on Jan 22nd applications for organizations will begin and as contributors you can start planning which organizations to apply in and if you want to
