hi everyone I was going to show you guys a quick easy way that I've been able to grow some new roots off of this hydrangea plant here and I'm gonna be able to replant them in different spots around our properties this is an easy way to reroute to split a hydrangea so here we go okay so this is a nice big endless summer hydrangea all you need to do is go in here at the bottom and you can see all these kind of low lower line branches okay just take a branch we could save this one for example and you could take a little knife or just your fingernail and just scratch the bottom off just like that and then you're going to dig a little hole and you're going to essentially take the branch put it down in the hole cover it with dirt again put a rock on top to hold it under the dirt so here's an example that I did a while ago you can see the branch is connected from the plant I dug it out dug the dirt a little bit it's buried under there okay and then I put this rock on top so here is an example that I just dug up to show you the roots here so this branch is right there it's got these nice healthy leads on it and I dug out I brushed all the dirt off the top dug under it just to be able to show you guys and look at all of these roots that grew off of this branch okay so it's got nice healthy roots here all you need to do is cut it back like around here and then bury this and I've got this thing it's so big but I've got this nice healthy branch right here so I'm gonna kind of Ribery these roots right now until I'm ready to replant it but that's all you have to do it's super easy I didn't do anything different I didn't water any more or less so there you go so you just scratch off the bottom of a branch bury it in the dirt put a rock on top like this okay I've got a bunch of them going got another one over this way I've got some room there's another one okay so the roots just start growing out of the bottom of the branch and you able to cut it and that's it so again here's the big plant and I'll show you I also did it with our limelight hydrangea so here's our limelight hydrangea we're towards the end of September so it's starting to have the end of its season right now then help me here's another example down here got my rock right there and all I had done they need the branch it still even got some blooms on it but if I lift it up all right dig it out and look at all these roots right here so again I'll just just dug out very the very the bridge anything difficult it's just a couple minutes here's the mulch back on top the rock just helps it stay down we're good to go what you think [Music] wait damn no more flowers that one's growing more look it's got little blooms it's starting to grow more so that is pretty much it with the lime white hydrangeas I think that they should all work in a similar way just dig out a little hole scratch off a branch bury it under some dirt and a rock you give it time to let the roots grow and then eventually split it and replant it I'm planning on probably splitting them in the spring so a good luck to you guys hope it works feel free to leave in the comments below if you have any additional tips that maybe I don't know about or did it mention today or let me know if it worked for you thanks so much for watching and see you later bye [Music] you
