[Music] welcome back to another video in this one we're talking about how to slow motion speed ramp using after effects cc that will also ramp the audio if you're using premiere pro for example you can slow motion speed ramp but it will not affect the audio and that can be frustrating sometimes because there are scenarios where you will want to slow motion speed ramp the audio so i'll show you what we're creating today and then we'll jump in [Music] before we jump in i'll explain what slow motion ramping is and why can be better than just using regular slow motion inside your editing program now you could just make a keyframe and just make it slow motion at the second the person starts to pop however with slow motion speed ramping you can ease in to the slow motion so that it goes from regular speed to slow motion over a period of time so let's delete this and we'll start over from scratch so we have our clip imported into after effects we'll drag it down into a new composition then we'll go up to composition composition settings and we'll increase the duration to let's say just over five seconds that'll give us a little bit of extra room because we know we're going to be adding some slow motion which means we're going to be extending the clip a little further so now we have our clip in the timeline and it just ends and we have some extra space in the composition so let's go ahead and watch this without any slow motion the first thing we'll do is decide where we want the slow motion to happen so it'll be just before the tail touches and pops the trick we'll right click go to time and enable time remapping that will create a keyframe at the beginning and the end and then from there we'll go into the graph editor which is this icon here let's make sure we're under the right view which is speed graph and we'll make sure that time remap on our clip is selected and this can look a little intimidating but it's pretty straightforward once you understand what's going on we have one second of the video playing back every second that is represented by this line here at the one second mark and if you go down lower you can see that this is around half a second so if we were to drag this clip down to half a second you would then play half a second of the footage over a second of time which would result in slow motion footage so if that was so confusing keep watching and it'll get a little easier to understand so at the point where the trick is about the pop and then we'll go over and add a key frame there as well now we have three key frames and then just as the trick is about to be landed we will add a fourth keyframe now we have added four keyframes to the composition but they're not actually doing anything because we haven't moved them in time in this graph in order to make the section where the trick is performed slow motion we need to grab the n2 keyframes and then move them in time so that we create this sort of lowered box so at the bottom it goes down to about you know 0.4 of a second and then we want to lift up this part back up to one second so if we play that back this will have slow motion here however nothing will be ramped yet so it'll just automatically at the 2 second and 12 frame mark it'll just go straight to slow motion so that does look good and it is adding slow motion with audio at that part however it's sort of jerky it just jumps right into the slow motion here and we can make this look a lot smoother so with each of these new keyframes you do have handles as well and you can either move the keyframe itself or you can adjust the handle and that will change the way the slow motion happens on this clip so if you hover the mouse over the keyframe you can see that this one's at 0.43 seconds of a second let's click and hold shift and drag that back up to one second exactly and then we'll do the same to the other one [Music] now it is important to hold shift after you click so that this doesn't go left or right and now you can see that the box has turned into a nice smooth ramp between our slow motion parts let's go ahead and preview that now if we want to exaggerate the speed ramp we can use these little handles on the keyframe and really really exaggerate how the slow motion happens so if i do it like this that means the start and pop of the trick will go a lot smoother and slow and then right towards that second keyframe where the trick is landed it'll almost snap right back to real time without much of a smooth ramp so let's bring this one back a bit i think that looks good and it's what i prefer however of course this is up to taste so you can adjust your footage to your liking and add as much or as little slow motion ramping as you want and if you are editing in premiere pro you can simply just send clips to after effects and then work it with them in here and it's a pretty quick workflow and i tend to do that if i ever need some audio with my speed ramping i hope that helps we
