How to Set Up Linux on Chromebook

how to set up linux on a chromebook welcome to another gauging gadgets chromebook tutorial video in this video i'm going to show you how to set up linux on your chromebook so you can install and then use linux apps on your chromebook so this can include anything from firefox obs studio minecraft or even steam so installing linux on your chromebook is very easy and if your chromebook is compatible with it then all we have to do is simply enable linux on your chromebook and you can start using it check the description i'll have several tutorials down there that will improve your linux experience on your chromebook including allow linux apps to record your microphone if you're going to be using audacity or even allowing linux to use the gpu on your chromebook if you're going to be gaming alright so to get started the first thing we need to do is simply go down and select the clock in the bottom right and then go up and select the gear for settings this will open up the settings on our chromebook and once you're here in the search box just search linux linux and select the first option once you select it it should come up with developers right here and you should see linux development environment if you do not see this that means that unfortunately your chromebook is not compatible with linux so you will not be able to follow the rest of this tutorial from here simply go to the right and select turn on and then we can go through some very easy steps to set up linux on our chromebook select next then on this screen we simply select the username this doesn't really matter so you can leave it default and then the disk size i'm going to be using the recommended size but you can select custom make it larger if you have available space so you can install more linux apps you can always change this later once you're ready go ahead and select install and then give it a couple minutes and it will install linux on your chromebook once you see the terminal open there that means you've set up linux on your chromebook and you can now start using it so now you can close the terminal and your settings and linux is now installed if you ever need to access the terminal again probably to install something all you need to do is go down to the launcher select the arrow right here and then you'll see linux apps and this is also where all of your linux apps will be located so you can open them up all right so that's how you set up linux on a chromebook if you have any questions about this leave a comment below i'll get back to you as soon as i can if you'd like to see more chromebook tips and tutorials check the links in the description if this video helped you give it a thumbs up and please consider subscribing to my channel gauging gadgets for more gadget reviews and tech tutorials thank you so much for watching
