hello welcome to West Berlin Karin's and motorhomes purpose of this video is to give you a brief introduction and how to set up your caravan first time you arrived on the site we're working on the basis that you've arrived on site but HG Caravan from the car and move car out of the way to be in a situation the caramel is sad I'm right gone we need to stop the chicken from the first thing we need to consider is is the caravan level side to side and front to rear you can level the caravan side to side by purchasing LED leveling ramps which are available from any caravan camping store front and rear obviously that could be easily achieved simply by lifting or lowering the jockey wheel of the caravan once we satisfy the Chairman - let's create sides size low in the corner steadies is just a simple matter of winding them down another in contact with the ground don't put too much pressure on them because if you do try lift the caravan you can cause damage to them once all four corners steadies on each corner of the car under lowered and in good contact with the ground to start setting up the services to the camera I'll start the gas system on the caravan this particular Karen because it's a 2013 model it's got what's called fixed bulkhead regulator so it's certainly old-fashioned regulators that used to connect directly to the bottle the regulators are now securely fixed to the bulkhead to connect the gas bottle to this regulator being these gas hoses on a probe that bottle okay brass fitting screws into the gas bottle itself it uses a reverse thread which catches quite a few people out because it's a metal-on-metal connection you need to make sure that this connection is nice and tight the connection on the other end of the hose it's actually made in the rubber o-ring so with this one what needs to be tight enough it's not leak you don't over tighten it because you will crush that rubber o-ring and again cause yourself a gas leak hang tight that's probably enough but just to make sure I'll give it a short snorter with a spanner once you're happy with both connections and turn the gutter bolt lock now we come to the water system on the Karen its particular Carolyn's done on board pump so instead of having me submersible on outside the caravan you simply got a filler if you do have a caravan supplied with a submersible phone um the process is exactly the same the pump or the filler always goes into the water first that helps get in the air after the system and once you've done that you can connect it into the side of Karen if your caravans got the trimmer' ultra store system for heating the water will have a vent cover which you need to remove if you intend to use the water heater on gas the waste or the gray water from the caravan will come out put these grey flaps just here you need to remember especially if you're on site to take grey hose push it firmly into these fittings that way your wastewater goes into your ways to receiver rather than straight on to the ground now we come around to the battery locket your battery would normally have been fitted in this before you either set out and you holiday but just make sure it's nice and secure and that the red and the black positive in the neutral terminals are connected securely to your battery when you arrive on site you need to get Karen's 240 volt hookup it's always best to connect the end of the cable to you Karen first and then plug it into the side that way you limit any risk of electrical shock you now got the electric systems the gas system the water the ways connected got corner steadies down to the caramel prices they go inside it start switching things up first thing we need to do when we come inside the caravan is make sure that we've got power into the cabin and the electricity supply is safe you can do this by simply pressing the test button on the RCD or the trip unit seeing the main RTD switch down shows that we've got a good earth supply to the caravan and that we have in fact got power the next thing now you've got your electricity connected and you know that it's a good supply just to make sure you about your charge is switched on that way it doesn't matter how much power you use that you'll never go flat normally you'll find that there's a switch dedicated to your battery charger but in this particular car and there's no such switch it comes on automatically as soon as the main supply is hooked up all caravans have what's called a 12-volt control panel in them this caravans control panel is just up here it's a very simple device they vary slightly from model to model that they will basically do the same job you've got a master switch which when you turn on that brings the 12 volt supply live into the caravan the switch above says lights and when we switch that on all the lights in the caravan come on the next one its marked awning obviously that switches on your warning light and then finally we've got water pump before we switch the water pump on we want to make sure that we haven't got our drain valves open on our hot water tank most caravans have a drain valve like this one here when it's in the flat position like this that's closed so the water can't get down when you top one to drain the system down you simply lift it up like so for our purposes obviously we want to keep that shut so we can get water up to the taps so we can go back to the control panel switch the pump switch on and then open the taps in melt it may take a while for water to come through at first just so while it gets the air out of the system after a minute or so you should get a smooth supply of water once you've got the cold water coming through switch the tap over to hot get all the air out of the system to open each tap in turn making sure you get a nice smooth flow of water when you're happy shut the taps down after a short time you'll find the water pump switches itself off once you've got the water supply through you'll want to heat the tank up keep the hot water tank up to obviously get warm water at the taps if you're plugged into mains this is easily done by simply switching on the switch that's mark water heater for the mains again sometimes these switches are located in different places but they're nearly always in this close vicinity to the water heater alternatively if you weren't plugged into mains you could heat the hot water up using gas remembering to remove that vent cover from the outside this caravan has got a simple rocker switch marked 50 degrees and 70 degrees that pretty obviously means 50 degree hot water or 70 degree hot water and that's operated on gas flick it down you'll hear the system light itself slightly older caravans have a switch which more it looks more like this one to operate the water heater you simply turn the outside collar and then you select the temperature in the middle like so if you see a green light that means the system is working if you get a red light it means it's gone to fail simply switch it off wait a few seconds and switch it back on again it's not unusual for the water to go to fail the first time you try and light it because you'll have likely to have air in the gas system the hub an oven in the caravan fairly straightforward to operate the only thing you have to remember is to hold the knobs down because the flowing fail their devices so you hold a knob down until you get the gas through and you see the flow pressing the ignition button down the delays just caused by having air in the system there we go you can now see that the burners lit hold the knob down for another few seconds to allow the flame failure device to engage release that's the hob lit on gas the grope and the oven work in exactly the same way you must remember to always keep the glass lid fully upright to make sure that hub works correctly interest prevent any risk and damage the fire in the caravan is fairly straightforward to light you simply turn the control round to maximum you should be able to hear the fire ticking or some models you have to press the piezo igniter hold the knob down listen carefully wait for the ticking to stop or alternately you've got a lens which you can view the flame through there so I've heard it stop ticking but look carefully I can see the flame I've held the knob in for another few seconds then released it and that's the fire lit on gas alternatively you can use 240 volt mains Electric to heat the fire up that's done by this control up here the bottom switch is marked 230 volt room heater so we need that switched on for the system to work and then we've got a choice on the outside color of either two thousand five hundred or a thousand that's a 500 watt element a thousand watt element or a two kilowatt element the only reason they allow you to do that is so you can restrict the amount of amps that you're pulling through your electrical system so you don't trip the side for our purposes going to set it to maximum two thousand and then we've got our thermostat in the middle once you've got heat coming from the farm either on gas or the 240-volt elements you might want to draw the heat off fire and distribute it around the caravan this is achieved by this fan if you look closely at the control you can see the outside control is marked a which is automatic mode M which is manual mode and then inside you've got a control which you can rotate round to adjust the speed of the fan automatic mode the fan will automatically regulate in relation to the output of the elements so basically if you Karen's chili it wore that bit harder in manual mode you control the speed of the fan this is particularly good of an evening or perhaps when you're in bed as the fan will maintain one speed and one sound whereas perhaps an automatic mode in the middle of the night the temperature drops the fan will kick in and could risk waking you or your children up now I now draw the heat off the fire and blow it round the caravan out through the vents which are pretty regularly distributed round that'll give the kinetic air and nice and warm front to rear producing caravans quite often referred to as 3-way fridges that's because they work off three different power sources you've got mains electricity 12 volt which operates only while your car engines running and your caravans connected to your car and also gas all fridges on mains electricity simply select mains and then set your thermostat accordingly gas on this fridge to light it select the picture of the frame turn it round to maximum hold the knob in and hold the ignition knob in and wait for the orange line to move all the way to the top of the green so you've now got your fridge going cold your fire nice and warm all your gas system operating and you'll soon our hot water after about 15 to 20 minutes or so so really the only thing left to do now is get the catalog start enjoying a holiday thanks very much for watching this I hope it's been informative if you do have any more questions all you need ever do is give us a call thanks very much for watching
