if you're looking to isolate vocals or instrumentals from a song this is probably the best AI tool out there to help you do that and if you've been following my videos you'll know that I'm a big fan of free open source tools and this one is completely free and it's Standalone so you don't need to learn python or command line or any of that complicated stuff this is so good that it's probably the only tool you'll ever use for vocal separation or removal so with that let's get started so the tool that we are going to walk through today is called ultimate vocal remover you can simply search it on Google and it's just the first result that shows up so let's click on this it's available on Windows Mac and Linux and it's totally free so let's go ahead and click download and it would take us to their GitHub page and I'm using Windows so I'll just click on this main download link to download the exe file it's over a gigabyte in size but once you've downloaded it next step is to open it to install it alright so we're gonna go ahead and install this and this is a standalone installer it should install everything that you need so pretty straightforward [Music] all right now that it's finished installing we can launch the uvr interface if you can't find where to open the interface just find the folder where you installed it and scroll all the way down until you see uvr.exe so you double click that and it would launch this so first of all we need to input the track that we want to separate the vocals from the instrumentals so I'm going to go ahead and select a track so I'm just going to download this song from YouTube [Music] [Music] alright so to download it's basically just copy the link and I'm just going to Google YouTube to MP3 and select one of these [Music] so I'll just play this for you real quick [Music] Italian [Music] [Applause] [Music] alright so pretty standard J-pop track so once you've downloaded it we'll go back to this interface and we just need to go to the folder and select the track so saved it here in the temp folder so I'll just select this and then for select output you just select the folder where you want the output to be saved so we'll just save it in the same folder called temp perfect now there's a lot of different methods that you can choose each have very subtle differences but what I would recommend is Ensemble mode so what Ensemble mode is it basically it takes the average of whatever models you choose and so it gives it a more accurate and cleaner separation so I'll show you what I mean in a second so we'll just choose Ensemble mode first and then you can choose either splitting vocals and instrumental or I don't know what other or no other is but you can also split the drums with no drums split bass and no bass force them ensemble we're just gonna go with vocals and instrumental what this means is how high quality you want each specific stem so here on the left we have vocals on the right we have instrumental if it's Max on the left that means it's going to maximize the quality of the vocals and minimize the quality of the instrumental so maybe if you want to extract vocals only then you would select this if you want to extract both vocals and instrumentals then I would click Max both right so you want maximum quality for both vocals and instrumentals if you want instrumental only then I would choose this one right because vocals you don't care about the quality but instrumental you want Max quality so that's what this is for this tutorial we're just going to extract both so we want maximum quality for both and then if you have a GPU then you can check this and it's going to complete this in a matter of seconds whereas if you don't click this it's going to use your CPU which may take like 5 to 15 minutes and then you can choose either vocals only or instrumental only we're gonna go with vocals and instrumentals and now we need to select a model so you can see with Ensemble mode you can select multiple models if you only select one it's not going to work so once I click Start processing you can see you must select two or more modes to run on ensemble so if I select both basically what it does is it takes the average of both of these and so you get a much cleaner and more robust isolation before we run this actually we want to add more models here because there's not really any vocal separation models which is what we want we want to separate the vocals and the instrumentals so we can go here to settings and then you can play around with these they're pretty straightforward we're just going to go to the download Center and download more models now this MDX net is usually the most robust we are just going to go with main so this basically is it's going to extract the main vocals so I'm going to select this and then click download perfect now feel free to add more of these and you can select a lot of different models in Ensemble and it'll take the average of all of them now of course the more models you select the longer it's going to take to extract but for the purpose of this tutorial that's all we need so we'll go back to here now you can see the main model is added plus the instrumental hq1 so usually this is good for vocals this one is good for instrumentals can play around with different models there are subtle differences but I think this should be fine for now and that is all we just need to click start processing [Music] wow this is way faster with the GPU I tested this on a laptop before as well which ran on a CPU and it took like five to 15 minutes depending on the length of the song but no this is super super quick because I'm using an RTX GPU here this finished in 40 seconds all right so all we need to do is go to that folder so we can open it here and you can see the vocals and the instrumental extracted so let's play the vocals and see what we got foreign wow look at that just legendary separation the vocals are so clear and you don't hear any trace of the instrumentals this is so good let's try the instrumentals now foreign [Music] foreign [Music] wow so again just super crisp and clear results I mean this is the only tool you need for vocal separation this is the best tool I found out there and it's completely free and open source so yeah there you go uh very straightforward so if you've tried this out and if there are any combinations of models that you found work best for vocal isolation or vocal removal let me know in the comments below but yeah if you found this video helpful remember
