How to render an Alpha Channel in Unreal Engine in 2 minutes

okay I'm just recording this uh video really quickly because I've been searching for this uh the answer to this problem for like months ever since I started working in a real I just needed to render uh an alpha channel uh like in the PNG you know like in blender when you have like transparent background uh and every single tutorial let me down so I finally figured it out and I wanted to make a very quick tutorial on how to do it so there are basically four steps you have to go through and number one is you have to enable Alpha Channel support in your project settings I'm going to do this really quick uh Alpha so here blah blah blah enable ala Channel support and postprocessing make sure that it looks like this you may need to restart okay we you probably already have that already but if you don't make sure that it says linear colors SP on oops okay so uh next up you have to in your render queue under p PNG sequence make sure you have right Alpha but the thing that I think a lot of people are missing is this deferred rendering uh which uh needs to have accumulator includes Alpha checked by default it's not checked and then finally you just have to make sure that in your sky that you've got everything hidden that could cause uh opacity in the background such as uh exponential height fog and maybe Sky atmosphere that kind of thing um once those are all hidden make sure that they are hidden properly like actor hidden in game then when you render you will end up with something like this so the default render looked like this with the background in it then I rendered the second one which looked like this and as you can see it is completely a mask which is great and that's exactly what we want finally I can render nice uh empty background so next step for me is to figure out how to render out separate things but then I guess it's a hard job but if you hid everything you could start rendering out separate passes to get your uh equivalent of a crypto mat I suppose but that would be very difficult cuz it's not as easy as in blender anyway that's about it and I hope this works for you please let me know if it doesn't but not much I can do cuz I'm not an expert in a real byebye
